how did you hear about cathe?

I found Cathe years ago through Collage Video catalog. My first video of hers was MegaStep Blast (OMG am I aging myself or what). I was doing Gin Miller and the Firm up to that point but I really liked the step so tried her. I was hooked from there. I still have a lot of Cathe's early workouts on video. Travis, I have that same Cher video buried in a box somewhere!

I took a break for about 5 years while we were building our house. (We're building as we go to avoid a huge house payment.) We live in the daylight basement on concrete so no impact work for me. Once I got an area set up upstairs though, now I'm back to Cathe. :)

FitTv 5 years ago. I think Step Blast was on and I immediately pulled out my step and started following along. I was like, "wow, this lady is AWESOME!" I went on line as soon as it was over and bought Step Works on vhs. It was my first (purchased) Cathe workout and it will always have a special place in my heart. *sniff*

Fun topic. :) I always thought I would love step aerobics, but the tapes I had were BORING. Up up, down down, repeat until ready to scream. In early 2001, I began buying up VHS tapes from eBay, convinced that step was my one true cardio love, but never finding something interesting enough. Not sure how I never ended up with a VHS Cathe back then.

Finally, I got a hold of The Best of Crunch Step and LOVED Kendall Hogan's workout. I did that one over and over again and kept looking for more. While I was looking for more of Kendall's step, I found a review of Cathe that said "if you like Kendall, you'll love Cathe." Well, I just had to try. I bought The Classics and Cardio Hits and kept on going. Now I'm into weights, too!! Found this forum and branched out to Cardio Coach. :)

I was tired of Billy Blanks and the gym, went to collagevideo.com and they had Cathe's Cardio and Weights/Imax2 featured. I bought it, tried it and fell in love even though I could not imagine how anyone could possibly do the complicated step work in that video! I also remember thinking how hard Imax 2 was!}(

I first heard of Cathe when I saw her workouts in the Collage catalog a loooooooooooong time ago, I want to say 1990 or 91. That was before I did much in the way of home exercise. I had a personal trainer at the time and worked out in the gym. I started working out at home about 3 years ago and that's when I bought my first Cathe DVD.

There was a review of Step Heat in Fitness magazine. I bought it and have been a fan ever since. That was a long time ago!

I had to stop running, so I started buying VHS workouts at the local music/book store. I'd never purchased a workout online in my life. I was talking to a co-worker and expressing my frustration over how lame the workouts I had were. He brought me some of the workouts his wife used to do. One of them was Power Max. I saw the website and never looked back. I thought I was going to die, going straight from half-hour Jane Fonda step to Power Max and Step Blast!!!

FitTv. I would do Caribbean Workout and if I ever saw Cathe I would think "She's an animal"!! (in a good way) One day I gave her a try and the rest is history. Now when I get that little box from UPS, my husband says..."Buying Cathe's kids more shoes?"
I'm off to kickbox for todays June rotation!

After doing only Firms for years, I found MIS in the Collage catalog and ordered it. I don't really remember how long ago that was.... maybe 6 or 7 years? The rest is history! :D

I discovered Cathe on FIT tv also. Taped all the episodes & did those for years. Started looking at her web-site, bought dvd's & more dvd's. Discovered she was close to me in New Jersey & always thought about making a trip to take one of her classes at the club. Totally by accident I found out about the RT & long story short -I'm #69. Oh so excited!!

Back until around the mid 90's, Shape magazine used to have a yearly review of workout videos (no DVD's in those days!). Around 1992, Cathe's "Step 'n Motion III" was given a strong, "A" review by it, so I ordered it through Collage Video (which I also discovered from the same magazine). Then, very shortly afte that, I discovered the forum.

I picked up several more Cathe videos (including some with a strange nautical background theme, and the girls weariing white lace bike shorts with thongs over the top), and from then on, I've acquired all but one of her workouts (so far!). The "missing" on is the "Terminator" compilation from the Intensity series. (I didn't keep all of the workouts, though!)

I was reading the fitness section of Cooking Light mag and they mentioned Cathe. I went to her website and jumped in head first:)

That was 9 1/2 years ago. I have been a forum member all that time and own all of her DVD's (except beginner). Pre-Cathe was firm and TaeBo....so glad I graduated!

I was browsing a weight training forum and saw her mentioned as a way to get a more gym like quality workout at home. Most other DVDs I tried I became bored with after only a month or so. They just did not challenge me anymore. My first DVD was the Imax 2/ Cardio and Weights DVD. I rotate some of the other more advanced instructors like Amy Bento in occasionally but have pretty much been doing Cathe DVDS ever since.

A long time ago when I was doing the Firm classics I called Collage and asked for suggestions. They suggested Cathe--Pure Strength to be precise. It actually took me a while to get into them but I like PS even more now than I did then. They were VHS then--no DVDs.

I too was doing the Firm classics but my DH who is a trainer said that I needed to lift heavier weights, if I wanted to continue to see results. He also said that the Firm did not give adequate form pointers. I saw the rave reviews of Cathe by Collage and ordered MIS, MIC, Body Max 1 and the Pure Strength series (only VHS then). After doing Cathe, I was hooked! I now have most of Cathe's workouts but now usually only do her cardio workouts. I thank Cathe for introducing me to heavy weight training and making me feel empowered to lift heavy. I use to be intimated to go the the free weight area with all of the men, but after doing Cathe, I am at home in any gym. In fact, in some instances, I can lift heavier than many of the guys (especially legs) I now do most of my strength training either at the gym or using my extensive home gym. The gym offer more variety than what can be done at home or at home with safety. I did order STS and I am looking forward to the variety that I believe that it will offer. STS sounds like just what I need to shake it up a bit. I am definitely looking forward to the plyometric legs workout!

Regina:) :) :)

I watched a TV review about Jari Love and bought her latest Ripped and Chiseled DVD, I finally had time to get in shape and boy did I need to! The step I bought to use as a bench came with Cathe Basic Step and I also saw reviews on CollageVideo about Cathe when I read about the Jari Love reviews. I tried Basic Step and immediately felt like I would never be able to do it, it was so fast and I was out of breath (and shape). So, I did Jari Love for about a month, got bored and reached for Basic Step again and told myself I was going to do this no matter what. I think it only took a couple of times and I was hooked. Then I came to cathe.com and saw that she was on FitTV, I spent a month doing all the FitTv workouts and then of course I had to buy EVERYTHING that Cathe had produced since 2005 and some older ones that interested me. Now I'm patiently waiting for STS, by the time it gets here I hope to be at my goal weight. Those last 10 lbs have been tough, but now Cardio Coach is helping me to blast away those last lbs.

I've been a self proclaimed Cathe addict since 1991! I was doing step aerobics at the gym in the late 80's and early 90's. I wanted to have the flexibility to do workouts at home, so I bought the Original club step...which is still in great shape after 17 years. I looked in the Collage magazine for the step workouts they rated as advanced, and Cathe's workouts seemed to fit the bill. I'm pretty sure my first VHS was either Step 'N Motion II or III. Cathe blew me away! I thought my instructor at the gym was tough, but she was nothing compared to Cathe. I was hooked, and have since acquired every single Cathe workout (except for the Basic or Beginner Step workout). I can honestly say in 17 years I've never gone more than a week or so without doing a Cathe workout (except for 2 weeks a few years ago when I had my gallbladder taken out). Cathe and running are the two reasons I've pretty much worked out consistently for my entire adult life. I've tried other instructors, but they all pale in comparison IMO. Cathe is my hero :)
