hot tea ???

I just wish my thighs would think in moderation ha ha!!!

The sugar free creamer is like my last frontier, I've really cleaned up my diet, as I am determined to lose the last 10lbs and it is CLINGING TO ME....I did a detox cleanse last week and that really made me aware of how I don't want chemically filled 'food' in my body....I thus cut out protein bars and diet soda no problem. That sugar free creamer is truly the last frontier. Well and splenda! Gosh!!

RE: hot tea ??? Chai Tea, mmmmh good ;-)

very cute, Cynthia! But not very nice to taunt us with your Cathe mug.:p

Bengal Spice

My personal favorite is Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice herb tea. :9 Cynthia, I believe you would love this tea! :)

Kristi, I would taunt you with my Cathe mug too, but it is missing in action. ;-) I bought one during the Road Trip and have not seen it since. I wonder if it is in the bag I still have not unpacked? LOL! :7

I get loose leaf teas from Tealaden.com
My fav is Earl Grey for hot.. but. I'm not sure it's much better than coffee since I use half/half and sugar when I drink it. So I don't drink it too often.

Right now I'm into their strawberry fields tea which has green tea, jasmine and strawberry in it. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I make it iced now though with a little organic sugar and its soooooo good.

They also sell sample sizes so you can try out a bunch. I got several I've yet to try yet since i'm so hooked on the strawberry green tea.

Thanks everyone,

I did order some sample sizes, we'll see how it goes for now. I maybe ordering ALOT of samples just to find the right tea for me;-).

Cynthia,

WOW, I need to come to your house to sample, LOL:p

Jess,
Thank you for the link to another tea site. I'll definitely be looking that one up also..........can't have to many:D.

One other question........how do you use the loose leaf? Do you buy special bags or is there something else you use? Maybe you don't use anything?

TIA

Sally

Stash teas are excellent. Their Peppermint is awesome and doesn't need any sugar. Just a dab of skim milk. It's the only brand of peppermint that isn't overwhelmingly flavored. Their English Breakfast tea is also perfect.

In addition to the HUGE thumbs down on Lipton (aka dried grass clippings) and the recommendations already made, I will add Good Earth All Natural Sweet and Spicy Tea which is wonderfully cinnamon-y and perfect at bedtime. Also, if you can find real jasmine tea (made from the actual dried blossoms) it's like spring-time in a cup. Smells so heavenly.

BTW, Cindy (retrofit)--Your tea collection looks like mine!

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

<<One other question........how do you use the loose leaf? Do you buy special bags or is there something else you use? Maybe you don't use anything?>>

I use a metal device that I think is called a "tea ball". It's like two very small strainers (about 1 1/2 in diameter) connected to a handle. When you squeeze on the handle, the two halves of the ball open up, so you can scoop some loose leaves into it. Then you release it, it closes, and you can put it into the hot water for the desired time.

Jonahnah,

Thank you, I have written those down.

snocone bella,

Aahhh, I do remember seeing one of those balls somewhere. Thank you!

Sally

We make tea using this and it works wonderfully!!!

http://www.adagio.com/teaware/ingenuiTEA_teapot.html

Much easier than a tea ball in my opinion and the tea leaves can open up more. Since we by loose tea which can be more expensive, it's very easy to reuse the leaves several times too.

Another option we've used is a french press used for cofee making.

Both of these contraptions let you make a large amount of tea in a short amount of time.

I enjoy Zhena's Gypsy tea from Whole Foods. You can sometimes find it at Safeway too (here in MD). I like the coconut tea best and also the roobois (spelling?). They come in pretty tin cylindrical canisters.

I drink my tea with a little milk and agave nectar.

for hot tea I make it by the cup since its just me. You can easily use the loose leaf again for another cup. I have an electric kettle that I LOVE! to heat my water then you put your tea in the strainer and pour water over it. easy as pie! It fits also in most mugs. You can find this at target I think too.

here it is without the mug:

I also saw this option if you like to make it in a bit larger batches:
http://www.amazon.com/Bodum-Assam-4-Cup-Tea-Press/dp/B00005LM0Z/ref=pd_sim_hg_title_3

I also have a bodum glass iced tea jug with a stainless steel strainer but I can't seem to find that same one online. They have a plastic pitcher though in different sizes. http://www.amazon.com/Bodum-Ceylon-...?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1210954005&sr=1-22

there are tons of options I just like my Bodum ;) TJ maxx and marshalls sell cute little japanese tea pots too and you can buy loose leaf strainers in various forms.

I guess I never knew there was so much to know about tea. You all have helped alot.

I'll give you an update on the quest to find the perfect tea for me after I have tasted a few:).

Sally

i do not like coffee at all except for Starbucks Frappuccino that come in little bottles.alot of sugar-31grms. but as long as i keep working out i burn off the sugar.

I have a stainless steel filter that fits into a cup or mug and you can let the tea steep in it. Then you just lift it out. My local home goods store sells them but I got mine from Harney & Sons.

I have one of those stainless steel filters as well but I mostly prefer to use my french press! My hubby has one for his coffee, I have one that I use for my tea.

Wow!There are a lot of tea drinkers here! But...loose tea from a friend...are you sure you drink it? ;-) ;-)

LOOSE LEAF TEA!!!!
Taste so much better than the bagged. Teavanna.com is a good resource they also have stores nationwide. Another on line is adagio.com I order from both.
Some of my faves
black tea: Irish breakfast, golden monkey (has an almost chocolate taste to it) Mrs Earl Grey, assam, pur eh (tastes very earthy)
oolongs are great
Rooibos or "red bush teas"from South Africa, they are not from the tea plant but are still infused, I have taken a strong liking too.
Green tea and white teas I am starting to enjoy.
You can order samples from these sites or if you have a teavanna near you stop in and try some. They also have so many varieties of flavored teas. It does get mind boggling.
I would just start out with some basic teas and go on from there.
