Home Depot

ROFLMAO, TeTe!!! You said what I was thinking. Notice my comment was not about Harvard, per se, but what I went there to speak about...the underprivileged and inequality in education. Since apparently, I have no interest in anything other than animals, I wonder why I would waste my time and research.

Also, the poster obviously was making assumptions. She had no idea what I did for a living but assumed (maybe from a post) that I worked with eating disorders. Seems to be a lot of assuming. Just because she wrote poorly, I didn't assume she was uneducated even though she sounds that way.

Deb...too funny!!! :D

Actually, I may have started this thread prematurely because it does seem the Falcons are doing everything right. Arthur Blank has pretty much told Vick not to show his face. I think my original post was just making a point that should the Falcons not do anything, maybe a boycott of HD would be appropriate.

Should I have titled my post differently? Maybe. I just don't understand why people would just choose not to read a thread instead of spreading their negativity.

*YAWN*

What I am flabbergasted about is how you women think just because someone doesn't have a perfect grammar when she/he writes on a thread which is not all that important means they're stupid. Tsk, tsk, tsk...You women should know better. I really don't care how my grammar comes out when I post on an itty bitty forum. And wow, yes, I have gotten MANY good grades. Apparently a few people did not read what I wrote correctly. I said "I don't care if you went to Harvard to speak" meaning I KNOW you did not go to Harvard. I'm going to keep all of you clucks in mystery as if I'm really stupid, unhappy, etc. At least I don't pout and spend most of my time in a hiding hole. I'm not here to impress anyone nor should I. I'm not here to be best friends with every person in the world or on the forum. What I notice is you all spend more time on this forum than I do. What, you don't have much to do? That's pretty apparent. Toodles!

RE: let the flames begin

Michele you wrote I would like to see half as much outrage over child abuse.

I grew up in Brooklyn NY where dog fighting was common and guest what... these killer dogs (and they are breed to kill) often turn on their owners, families, innocent bystanders and causes horrible injuries and post traumatic stress disorders in children and adults. So when we lock up these "backyard" breeders and we put a stop to the abuse of these animals, this would lead to less people being rush to emergency rooms.

I'm for animal rights and I'm also for the safety of human beings.

>>>I'm tired of hearing people bitch and whine about bad things celebrities do. WHO CARES??? They're going to get away with a lot of crap no matter what because they have a lot of moola and will pay to get out of the rut. I'm not saying we shouldn't fight. We should try but knowing how stupid judical system is..... And just because some people do not like animals does not mean they're mean.<<<<

Oh, I have to get a response in here before it gets locked.

Read the indictment Miss Law School grad. He didn't just NOT LIKE ANIMALS.

You're an immature idiot who needs to go back to lurking.

Okay, that's enough! There's been plenty of immature, nasty remarks flying around in here and the thing is, I like most of you and I KNOW you're good people. Start acting like the people I KNOW you are, kay!? Now make nice.:*

I don't think it is the grammar, it is the foul and offensive language that really bothers me, ZT27!

You may have different priorities in live, that doesn't mean someone else who doesn't have the same priorities or opinions, is bad and needs to be attacked. Lorie is volunteering her time for many good causes, I really admire her for that.

I don't know what else you do other than swearing, attacking people and sending out nastigrams to people's private email addresses.

As someone mentioned above, Vick is a THUG. Probably pulled off the streets by the NFL to play football (not my words, don't flame me, dh said it ;)

Now, he is a rich thug, but still a thug. I certainly will not stop shopping at HD (i really like that store) or stop buying nike due to a thug!!!!

Now, why are we fighting and ridiculing each other over a street thug? I know he did something awful, but karma will get him. Can we leave it at that? Maybe apologize to each other?????

Just a thought...

Sara

I work for the Home Depot as a salaried manager and it disappoints me that people would boycott my store over a NFL player that we have no control over.

Yes, Arthur Blank co-founded Home Depot, but there are many owners of the company because we are a public organization. Arthur is not even on the Board of Directors. And, I don't know if he is even a majority stockholder.

So, go ahead and boycott our stores because of a decision we made or how you feel you were treated; but don't do it because of an individual that we don't even sponsor.

>I really don't understand this post. I certainly don't want to keep this going(and yes, I realize I am being a hypocrite by posting;) ) but this isn't about Michael Vick. While I agree that anyone who would engage in the sort of allegations that he is facing is a heinous excuse for a human being, this case isn't really about him. It is about dog-fighting and what has happened to those poor, innocent animals. I'm not going to stop buying Nike because of Michael Vick...I am going to stop buying Nike because they refuse to stop supporting a person who is accused of DOG-FIGHTING. For me, it has to do with not supporting their business practices. To me, purchasing Nike products at this time is sending an implicit message that I support their business stance, which I don't. Alright...rant over.

I still love Nike shoes...they treat my feet the best. I can't stop wearing them due to this...I would be punishing myself.

I understand there are some people here who love dogs. I don't love dogs, but I HATE animal cruelty. (I have a fear of big dogs...childhood fear that I can't get over....I have the same problem with snakes.)

Last I heard, and I don't watch the news often, Nike was not going to put the "vick" shoe (don't worry, I wouldn't buy those if they were on the shelves) out in stores. Again, I don't know much about it, just something I saw on Nancy Grace last week.

Pippa, I am sorry you don't understand my post. That is okay, I don't understand a lot of this either :(

Man, I have been just sick about this. When I got the Sports Illustrated with the story featuring an aerial view of the Vick-owned property I went off. My letter was so long SI couldn't print it but I knew that and just wanted to vent (brother, did I!). Someone at SI must REALLY love dogs because, out of the blue, I started getting running updates from The Humane Society. Since that started, I've written the commissioner of the NFL, several politicians, Nike, and Home Depot. I was afraid there wouldn't be enough of an outcry and am relieved to now know I was wrong. I'm glad to see the outrage also festers at Cathe.com. The thing that has me most freaked out isn't Michael Vick but all his buddies acting like it's no big thing and saying things like "every player has been to a dogfight." You can explain Hitler as an aberrration but masses of people willingly following him is considerably harder to grasp. I've loved football my whole life and that love has been destroyed by the knowledge that the game is played by an evidently large number of men who've twisted the loyalty of mans best friend to do their evil bidding. Buckeye fans are legendary but, as an Ohio State University alumn, I wonder how many of these people were involved in this barbarity during their college years. When Buckeye football season starts I'll be in pain, wondering about the involvement of college athletes. Did the NFL players only get involved in dog fighting when they went professional and started making big money or were they dabbling in this insanity during their college years? How widespread is this horror beyond the boundries of the National Football League? Is it primarily professional football or is it throughout all team sports, professional? College....? High school? I just don't know...

I'll join you!

For some really great message tees to express how you feel about dogfighting and animal cruelty go to [email protected]. One great item: a white football jersey with the words"Real heroes don't fight dogs" followed by a silkscreened image of two dogs and the words "Dogfighting is not a sport." The jerseys sell for $28 and come in ladies sizes 4-20.

On a lighter note: I was watching CNN at work the other night and they featured a story about a weiner dog race. It was HYSTERICAL! Those little guys can move. Cute cute cute. Everyone watching busted up laughing. Just had to mention it when i read your post.
