High Step Training Advanced vs High Step Challenge

I am debating between these two workouts and wanted to get some input on the pros and cons of each. I noticed that HSTA doesn't have any ab work according to the description. Is that true? Does your core get used at all? That would be a negative in my book, but I know that I have seen many people on this forum say they love this workout and prefer it to HSC. Are there positives to HSC outside of having an ab section? How do the two workouts compare in terms of intensity? Does one feel like a better circuit workout than the other? Any input would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hello Erin,

I have the HSTA and totally love it! I do not have the HSC so I'm not sure what it consists of,just only what I have seen on video clips. After listening to some of the ladies, I got the impression that HSTA is a tougher workout than HSC. I do know if you love leg presses that you are in luck! She goes crazy with those things! But it is really a great workout that you will sweat buckets!

I am not saying HSC is not a good workout. Maybe some of the ladies who have it can inform you.

Hope this helps some,

kim

I do not have HSC but I do have HSTA and it is one of the toughest workouts I have of Cathe's and I have many. You are correct, there is no ab work. During the workout Cathe says that the reason for that is because the abs are used alot during the workout itself so there is no need for a separate ab workout at the end.

Have you watched either of the samples of the workouts at all? Maybe that would help you get a better feel of which one would be best for you. I just watched HSC the other day and am planning on purchasing it in the future. Right now I'm just trying to get through HSTA alive!!!

Good luck!

I do have both and tend to do HSTA more. I like the way it flows better and those leg presses are challenging. I always feel very "worked out" after doing HSTA. Cathe includes exercises that use the core within the cycles (mostly compound exercises). I like the ab/core section in HSC and will usually do that after I do HSTA. HSC is good, too, and challenging (I think the cardio sections are a little harder), but the exercises seem to flow together better in HSTA and I think it's more fun to do. But you really can't go wrong with either purchase.

I have both and before I purchased HSTA I thought HSC was the toughest workout I have but HSTA is tougher. They are both awesome workouts and I do them regularly. You can't go wrong with either purchase. I really like the music in HSC better than HSTA (not that that would matter to most people!). It really gets me going and gets me through the workout. HSTA doesn't do much calf work I think. Im trying to remember. HSC does a really good calf workout near the end and the hover squats are killer. Just get them both!! Hahahaha
Hope this helps some. good luck.

Thanks for all the input, ladies. I think I will start with HSTA for now. But I definitely will get HSC eventually. There isn't enough money in the bank for all these wonderful Cathe workouts! ;-)

Don't I know it!!!! I want them all and allow myself one Cathe purchase a month!!! So, in August I'm going to get IMAX2/Cardio & Weights. I can't wait!!!!!

Good choice Erin. I've had HSTA for a while now and it still is a challenge.

You will not be disappointed with Imax 2/Cardio & Weights, Theresa. They are both such different workouts and so much fun that you almost forget how hard your working...or at least that's what I like to tell myself! ;)

Thanks so much for the review! I have been looking at this workout and reading all the posts about and decided this one will be next! Every time I get a new Cathe I feel like its Christmas! Thanks again and I'll post my review when I get the workouts!

Theresa, you will love Imax 2 and Cardio & Weights. They are both ultra challenging and lots of fun, too.

You guys are killing me!!!! I have to wait until late next week before I can order them because I already maxed myself out for the month moneywise!!!! Good thing Collage Video is quick with their shipping!!!

Okay, here's a question. After I get IMAX2/Cardio & Weights I was planning on getting Supersets/Push Pull. Do you have those workouts? I have heard awesome things about those too.

You're going to love, love, love IMAX2 and Cardio & Weights. C&W has my favorite ab routine.

SS/PP is another goodie! I use SS much more though. This DVD has a TON of premixes to choose from. Just this morning I did SS lower body blast premix. Yowza!

Thanks so much for your review! I wish I could afford to get them both next month but I have to be patient! SS/PP sounds awesome too!

I guess I have an opposing view point on the debate between HSTA and HSC. I love HSC. I was a little disappointed in HSTA, it seemed to me like it was rushed into production. The music isn't as good and it just doesn't seem to flow smoothly. Cathe released HSTA at the same time as her basic workouts to be included with step sales in Walmart or wherever. My 2cents.
