Hi!

Hi Cathe, I like to workout (with you of course) 3 times a week, doing full- body heavy lifting. Is this too much (heavy lifting) in one week, as long as I'm not sore from the prior workout?? I do shock cardio on my in between days. Also, do you know when the new bands will be in? Keep the workouts coming. I love them all!!! Linda

Hi Jillybean! No matter how you slice it, this is a tough exercise, especially when fatigue sets in. You can try not shooting your legs back as far (so they have more bend to them vs going straight back). You can also do the plates section of "weights and plates" from Ab Circuits. The sliding in and out with your toes on the plate works the muscles used to support you in this Circuit Blast exercise. Good Luck, take it safe and slow :)

Hi, Cathe! Just wanted to tell you that I LOVE Shock Cardio! Step Moves, Cardio Core Circuit, MMA: Fusion, and Circuit Blast are particularly fantastic!

I actually have a question, too. Yesterday, while doing Circuit Blast, I noticed that during the drill where we jump over the step platform, turn, and go into a 'plyo' type pushup, my low back had quite a sway/sag to it. Part of this might have been because this drill comes toward the end of the workout, but I also think it has to do with a lack of upper body and/or core strength on my part. I'd like to keep at this move (as opposed to subbing an entirely different move), but I don't want to risk an injury by performing it with poor form. Aside from just keeping at it, do you have any suggestions on how I can improve on this move?

Thanks!!!

Way to work it Jenn. :D I wish I could go to every city/state out there. Would love to meet you all. Is Quincy Market still around? I was there 30 yeas ago.

Hi Cathe!

Did the Pyramid DVD this weekend..upper body saturday and lower sunday! That one gets me EVERY time! :) Cardio core circuit on the schedule for tonight! Can't wait!

So, you coming to Boston anytime soon? hmm? :) haha!

Thanks for always pushing us to be our best,

Jenn

LOL Michelle....our regular members voiced the same things you did.

Thank you for the well wishes and looking forward to working out together this year.

Hi Cathe!

Boy I hear ya about the New Years resolutions kicking in and people crowding the gyms. My gym seems to be packed with people hogging the machines, their favorite TV programs interrupted by occasional bouts of exercise -- LOL!! Geez, I can't wait until they hang it up and go home so us serious worker outers can reclaim our favorite machines :p :D. I hope all is well with you and yours, and that the end of the holidays signals a return to saner times. My best always!!

LOL Therese! During filming 40/20 I almost lost my cookies at one part. I just needed more time to breath but then that click track started for the next song and I was like "NO WAY...THAT WAS NOT 20 SECONDS...SOMEONE IS MESSING WITH THE CLOCK" :D

Yes, the hunger does spike a bit (your working HARD) but replace it with good stuff and you will be fine :)

Thanks for kicking my a$$ this morning in HiTT 30/30 follow with second week of STS Disc 1. Did you see me shaking my head at you ;) ...Actually in 40/20 the other day I was so winded shaking my head at you was not even and option. Really loving these workouts....notice that my hunger has also increased as well.

tks,

Therese

I thought that was pretty cool too Ben. Thanks for noticing :) and keep working hard :)

Hi Cathe-

I love the edits between different sections of the workouts in this series. Like between a warm-up and the main workout, or going to the stretch. The music plays through the transition, or starts before the transition starts, and it's so smooth.

Thanks!

Ben

Thank you for your feedback and enthusiasm. I'm so happy to hear you are enjoying the workouts. Good for you for taking your step up to 8 inches and making it work for you. I'm happy to see you modify as needed. Keep up the great work! Enjoy your time in Florida. That sounds like a special time :)

Cathe,

I just wanted you to know that you did an awesome job on this Shock Cardio. I have all of your workouts. I have been doing your workouts religiously since 1995. I absolutely LOVE Step Moves - I do it on an 8" step to up the intensity though. I LOVE all the MMA Fusion workouts also. I can't tell you which I love the most. It is a cross between Fusion and Boxing. I do enjoy the kicks in kickboxing.

Circuit Blast is just that a BLAST! I have to say that if I had to choose my favorite it would have to be Cardio Core Circuit. I cannot get enough of this one. I have only done 2 of the HIIT workouts - those are great too.

I will be going to Florida with my three daughters and sister in March and I plan on bringing the Travel Fit, Cardio Core Circuits and the MMA workouts. This will be perfect! Keep these great workouts coming our way.

Cheryl

Hi Cathe,

I am looking foward to meeting you in San Diego. In the meantime, I am following your 3 month rotation and having fun with the new workouts. There are definitely some challenging moves... I felt so accomplished the 2nd time through Step Moves when I was able to do most of the moves without rewinding (the 1st time was actually comical!).

Thanks for the great workouts.

Michelle

Hi Kerribilliot! Sorry to hear you are having foot pain. I suggest taking about a week off and doing nothing but stretching for the calf and bottom of the foot as well as strengthening exercises like picking up marbles with your toes. I also suggest 5 to 6 five minute ice sessions. You can freeze a water bottle and roll the underside of your foot over it for 5 minutes at a time.

Do your stretching and strengthening exercises two to three times per day, and again, ice 5 to 6 times a day. If the pain keeps up after the week off without any improvement from backing off of exercise, I would go to see a physical therapist.

Hopefully a little time off is all it needs but if you did actually develop PF it can take a little longer to feel better. That is a stubborn slow healing injury, but more so when not nipped early on.

Good Luck!

Hi Cathe! I wanted to ask your opinion about something. About 2 weeks ago, after wearing a very hard soled pair of shoes too much for the holidays, I began to notice some heel pain that progressively got worse. I am not sure if I may have plantar fasciitis. I have rested it doing the bike and STS. I did attempt Step Moves Friday and by the end of the workout my heel was screaming. Should I continue to lay off of the high impact? During normal everyday activities I feel no discomfort in that heel. Any advice? Thanks so much for all that you do!

Hi Cathe:
I keep forgetting to ask you, I've always wanted to know, now that the latest series is done, how often do you work out; I mean how many hours a day? Do you teach classes at your gym? Just curious. Thanks - Autumn

Hi Linda! I would say no more than three times a week and if you feel sore or just not feeling up to it on a given day, two times that week is fine. Also, if your body gets too used to this full body three day routine, and you are not feeling any soreness, ever, change around your routine to either split workouts or at the very least, the exercise order of your full body workout...to shock things up a bit .

Thanks for asking but no, the bands are still not in :(. I check everyday hoping for the news. I will keep you posted.

Thanks soo much for your boundless energy and motivation!! I was a bit sluggish this morning but once I began working out, my energy level came back! The San Diego RT goal is soo motivating! My son is also excited about meeting you as well!

Hi Autumn! Athough I haven't been able to keep a particular schedule lately, I aim to get 4 to 5 cardio workouts in and work each body part at least once weekly. I count my solid cardio classes as my cardio sessions.
