Hi Everyone

Those of you with kids when do you find the time to workout:eek:) Do you just do Cathe or do you go to a gym to.

I have mon/wed in the am where I could go to the gym and other days do cathe...I was thinking of doing a bodypump class on mon/wed and other days do cathe. I would like to workout 4/5 days a week

Any suggestions:eek:)))))

Thank you

Tammy

Hi,

I have been trying to figure this out for 3 years!!!!
I have a 4 year old and a 7 year old and sometimes I just can't get the time to exercise!! Especially in the summer. That's why I do Cathe videos for ALL my workouts. At least I have them at home and can do them when time allows. I always wonder how these ladies get 2 workouts in a day!!!!
I do early morning while the boys are watching TV or else I never get to it
Good Luck
ellie :D:D

I always work out at home. I usually work out late afternoon, after homework is done. (My 3rd grader still needs me to hang around while he's working.) I first got in the habit of doing this when my youngest was still napping. Once homework is done, the younger two kids play computer games while I work out. The oldest lets herself in and starts her homework without any help from me.

Having said that, there are sometimes days when it all falls apart and I don't get a workout. Ah, the joys of motherhood!:p

I have a 4 year old, a 21 month old, and a 2 months old. If I want to workout, I must get up at feed the baby at 5 and workout after that...usually about 530-6ish. If my workout isn't finished by 7 when DH gets up, then it won't get done at all!!

hmmm

so what is the best idea go do the bodypump 2 days a week and try to do some cathe kickboxing and maybe another full day of total body workout or...

try cathe from get go but if this is the case what dvds????

Tammy:eek:)

It totally depends on you! I meet a girl at the gym 3 days a week to do the couch to 5k program. I ALWAYS show up if I'm meeting her cause she's counting on me. However, left to do my own workouts that early...i go back to bed a lot...or I hear the baby crying and tend to her when I should let my DH tend to her. You can't go wrong with Cathe. But, only you know if you are dedicated enough to workout at home.

To start out, I recommend her beginner package. That will come with basic step, a step, and some other things that I can't remember. It's a great package to start with. For weights, I really love the pyramids. That is my personal favorite!

My only problem with the gym, was that I couldn't guarantee that I would be able to make it at a certain time due to husband's schedule, event at school, sick child etc. I didn't want to waste the money or other peoples time. Because with little kids, something always comes up (if you know what I mean!!!!:D:D:D)
elliemom :D

I don't have kids, but I have a husband and anywhere from 14 to 22 horses on the farm at one time. Plus I work a full time job that I drive to about 45 minutes away...I have a pretty full day...I get up at 4:30 AM to get my workout done, because if I wait till later...it's never gonna happen. People come out to ride or we get a sick horse or we end up with a fence down...or I end up sitting in traffic for 2 hours...there are too many variables in my life to fit in anything but a video.

i have a room in my home set up and I just go in there and press play.

The night before, I usually put my scheduled workout in the player...so, all there is to do is press play...sometimes though...the DVD or DVD's that I plan to use go on the table.

I find that following a rotation also helps because I'd never make up my mind...not that early in the morning...:D

I have 3 kids (17, 15, 12) and six years ago when they were much less self sufficient I decided that In order to lose 25lbs I had to put me FIRST! Having said that I had to look realistically at my time options and the only one that would work for me was....5:30-7:00 M-F!!! I will tell you that at first I hated it, but it takes about 3 weeks for something to become a routine and I just bought 3-4 Cathe videos (Pyramids/BootCamp) and I started doing it at home...well 5 months later the weight was gone and it has been gone forever because I still get up that early....I take care of me first thing and then when everyone else wakes up I can be a Mom....It's not easy but it's the best thing I ever did for me....you no the old saying "If moms happy everyones happy!"
good luck

Wow
Thanks everyone:eek:)

Well what dvd's do you suggest for toning and defination as well as to loose about 5-10 lbs. I would like to see the back fat gone to look better in a tank top and most definitly the stomach area needs some help with love handles.

I consider myself a intermediate level.

Also any great rotaions out there that worked for you:eek:)

Thank you all again.

I've done so many rotations over the years...

Right before my wedding I did one of Fitnessfreaks rotations...Get ready for Summer 07. That was really fun...I've been debating the 08' one...

This month, tho, I rote my own rotation...my problem is I don't see much weight loss, but...I see lots of inches lost...

You can modify any rotation or workout to be lighter in intensity just by not jumping or even marching in place. I know I did a lot of that when I first started out.

Where do I find those rotaions? I guess as far as weight goes maybe like 5-7 lbs but more or less I would like to see inches off and more defined.

Thanks again.

I'm hoping to order some DVD's this week:eek:)

I have three dd's, 9, 6, and 22 months. I usually work out when my toddler naps. During the summer my two older girls will either watch tv, play on the computer or come and hang out with me in the basement. They're pretty good about letting me get my workout in-even the baby! Sometimes I have to rearrange things and wait til my husband gets home, etc. And I second Fitnessfreak's rotations. She made one up for me after I had my third baby and it helped my get back in shape! Go to the rotations forum-there's a lot of good ones out there. Good luck!

My dd is 4 and my ds is 1. The BEST time for me to work out is during afternoon naptime, although it's quiet time for my dd. I work later in the evenings a few days a week and find it hard to get up an hour before the kids every since day. Often times, if I have errands or preschool dropoffs to do I'll end up having to get myself ready and presentable twice -- in the morning and again after a heavy afternoon sweatfest with Cathe! haha. Not ideal and it annoys me to some extent, but I've been doing the afternoon w/o's since my dd was born, and this is what works for me.

On days where I know I can't fit in the w/o in the afternoon I WILL make it a point to set my alarm and get up before the kids and workout. But that's pretty rare. For the most part, I'm an afternoon w/o girl. :p

Oh, and I also go running 2-3 times a week, (almost forgot to mention that), and I do those runs in the evening after kids are in bed, somewhere around 8-9pm. I do have a jogging stroller, but I am not much of a runner and the thought of pushing the kids in the stroller and running at the same time makes me sweat just thinking about it! hahahahahahaha. ;) So I do it in the evening when husband is there to keep an eye on sleeping kiddos.

Wow there is a ton to choose from.

Debbie is there a way I can email you offline?

Which rotation have you found with after haveing kids worked for you....well my youngest is 3...lol

Thanks:eek:)

Tammy

I would try Fitnessfreak's 12 week basic/intermediate/advanced rotation. It's listed like that over on the rotations forum. Scroll all the way down and she has the rotation broken down by the type of workout, in case you don't have a particular workout. It makes it easier to find a substitution. I really like training with heavier weights so I've used several rotations that focus on that. Hope this helps!

First thing in the morning!

I have two kids, ages 8 and 10. I work out six days a week, always at home. (I have a gym in my basement.) I get up at 5:00 a.m. on school days and 6:00 on non-school days so that I can get my workout done first thing in the morning. I know that I would never find the time if I didn't work out first.

I primarily do Cathe videos, and mix in others that I have for some variety. I also have an elliptical and recumbent bike, but use those less often.

Make time for yourself because it is so important to stay healthy and fit. Good luck!

Is there other people you work out to and get the same great results?

Cathe is my fav ...i love kpc and she motivates me. anyone else out there like Cathe:eek:)
