Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for October

Today I woke up at 5:30 am and it was 98 degrees out with high Santa Ana Winds. I have never seen it this hot ever! Yesterday it got to 110 degrees and the same for the next two days! My house is so hot even with the air conditioner on. I chose a short Cathe Live workout today because I didn't want to workout for too long due to the heat. I did Upper Body Express minus the core and I used just dumbbells and a bench. Workout was 46 minutes and I burned 301 calories. I loved this workout. Each body part was a Giant Set and repeated 2 times with no rest between sets.

This was a fast great workout if you are short on time!

Diane Sue,
nice job on the kickboxing and the Body Shop workout this morning! You are killing it with your workouts!

Debbie,
that treadmill workout looks great. It is so nice to try something new instead of the same old routine!

Hot as Hell here today.

Have a nice day!

Today was total body. Had a great workout again. This is the same workout as last Wednesday only in superset form.

3 sets/8 reps with 2 minute rest - warmed up with GS Chest & Tri's

SS #1
Chinups
- Used 3 assist bands
EZ Barbell Curls - 45#/40#

SS #2
Incline Barbell Press
- 75#
Lying Barbell Extension - 35#

SS #3
Arnold Press
- 17's
Elevated Deadlifts - 55#

Workout was 33 minutes, burned 83 calories, Avg HR was 75, Max was 119,

Then I decided to try the Tabata workout on my treadmill from that app I downloaded. It was doable, and it was fun. It was only 11 minutes long. Each of the 8 sprints were 20 seconds in length and the rest was only 10 seconds. So I went back and forth from 6mph to 3mph with it. It was cool, I really enjoyed it. Then I stayed on the treadmill and jogged for 5 more minutes and did a cool down.

Workout was 20 minutes, burned 131 calories (TM said 172), ran 1.33 miles and went 2735 steps. Avg. HR 108, Max 154.

Fun stuff! I'll be back later for personals, running late again. ARRRGGG!!!!

No workout for me today, Wow is it hot again! Today will be close to 110 degrees again and I just don't have any energy to workout. We do have an air conditioner but it still cant cool off the house enough to make it comfortable. I feel like I am taking off too many days from working out but the air is very unhealthy and too hot to do my cardio. Tomorrow I will either walk since it is suppose to be a lot cooler or I will lift again. I am waiting for my new shoes to arrive in the mail, the one's I have are so broken down for the amount of miles I have been walking lately.

Debbie
great job in getting weight work as well as a Tabata workout in as well! Wow on the weights you are doing on the EZ barbell curls!!! Do you workout on the weekends or just Monday through Friday!

Diane Sue and Roselyn, I will be back later to check in and see what you did for your workout.

Make it a great day!

This morning I did Kelly's Strength and Stamina bonus step, 22 minutes, 170 calories, heart rate average 148, max 174, 2,306 steps. I then did Kelly's Body Shop, chest, glutes, abs mix to get in some of the stuff I missed from the split mix. It did repeat a couple of moves. 26 minutes, 115 calories, heart rate average 87, max 131, 166 steps. Total time 48 minutes, 285 calories.

I had to deal with my car again today. I finally got it back. my daughter took me to pick it up and we had lunch and went shopping.

Jolie, I heard that you were having unusually high temperatures. We are supposed to get our first freeze this weekend. I would have a hard time doing a workout with it that hot. It would just zap the energy out of a person.

Debbie, the tabata treadmill workout sounds like it would be fun and different.

Roselyn, it looks like you are really enjoying the live workouts.

Today I did Cardio Coach 3 and had a great workout. Love the new treadmill workouts on my Nook, but can't give up CC's!!! Did well with this workout.

Workout was 40 minutes, ran 2.89 miles, burned 299 calories (TM said 378) and went 5818 steps. Avg. HR was 121 and Max was 165. I also did the stretch from this workout and CC #5. Really needed it.

Jolie - I cannot believe it is still that hot where you are. Is it because of the fires or are they about contained now? We never hear much about it on our news which is ridiculous. They tell us everything else. No, I do not workout on the weekends.

Roselyn - Sounds like you had a great workout, nice job!

Diane Sue - Nice workout yesterday. I ordered two of Kelly's workouts - Muscle Up and Cardio Pump that is supposed to have Pyramid training in it. Can't wait to get them.

Have great workouts everyone!

This morning I did Kelly Coffey's Cardio Pump workout # 1 Cardio boxing, 31 minutes, 205 calories, heart rate average 137, max 177, 205 calories, 2, 835 steps. I had a break for about 30 minutes when my daughter came in with my grandson and came back and did Cardio Pump workout 2 pyramid weights, 43 minutes (actual 33 but calls, writing down took extra) These are done as 1 minute per exercise 3 exercises per body part, descending in weight.

alternating bench press 1 minutes 10# dumbbells (I lost count due to interruptions)

Debbie, I tried to show the format of the Pump Pyramid workout. It is not a traditional pyramid. IT is not fast paced lifting. The speed tends to move up on that 3rd exerciseI like it though and those 3 minute body parts can be repeated if one wanted to do it. I hope that you enjoy your new workouts.

Today I finally got to go for a walk outside but it is still hot. I walked 5.5 miles and burned 701 calories. My calorie burn is much higher using the workout mode on my Fitbit than the Run mode. Average heart was 134 and max was 181! I walked really fast and it was so hot maybe that is why I was working so hard today. I also walked my dog and I have a total of 12,863 steps by 10:30am!

Debbie, great job on the treadmill workout today. I have Kelly's Muscle Up but haven't used it in a long time. I might start doing it along with you or after I am finished doing the Cathe Live workouts. For some reason she kind of rubs me the wrong way but its not big deal. I think I am so used to Cathe's workouts its hard to like a new trainer. I can always turn the volume way down and play some good music!

Diane Sue,
Nice workout today and thanks for writing the workout down so I can make a cheat sheet for when I do the workout in the future.

Have a wonderful day.

Jolie, nice job getting in a workout today. It is going to be in the upper 70's here today and then it drops. 77 today and then it drops to 36. Tomorrows high will be 49 with a low of 28. I hate when it changes that drastically. I remember once going in the grocery store in summer clothes around 80 degrees and came out and it was sleeting. They guy taking out the groceries slipped and tipped the cart. My daughter and I were trying to help get it all picked up. Weather this time of year is really unpredictable.
I like Kelly's personality. I think she has a lot more humor in her newer ones. I like hos she makes some suggestions as there are some of the others with her working around previous injuries. She is always quick to respond on her facebook page. It is helpful to have the format down. I don't know where my last workout sheet was today and was hurrying because the tread climber repair was supposed to be done. Apparently the walking boards have not come in yet.

Today I am short on time so I picked Pyramid Upper Body. I love this workout, it works each muscle so well. The rep pattern is 12, 10, 8, 10, 12. No rest between any set or any exercise. Workout was 50 minutes and I burned 370 calories. I did not do the core segment. average heart rate was 119 and max was 162. DB's for the entire workout

I am not going to post my weights because I am short on time. It is Homecoming at the football game tonight and I have my parents coming soon and I have sooooooo much to do!

I hope you all have great workouts today!

I did workout today but had to be at work at the butt crack of dawn so didn't have time to post. I was supposed to do total body but only had a half hour and I didn't feel like running this morning so I just walked at a fast pace and I was able to keep my HR around 123-126 bpm which is good for me while walking. Usually I'm around 76-91. Not sure why it was so high today.

Workout was 30 minutes, walked 2.59 miles, burned 227 calories (holy crap!) (TM said 169 and my TM is ALWAYS higher than my FB) and went 3831 steps.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

It has been a busy, but fun day :) It has been so cold and windy. There is a freeze warning tonight so I made sure the hoses were all unhooked outside. In a few days it will be back up in the 70's. This morning I did Kelly Coffey Athletic Conditioning Volume 1 workout 1 cardio, 265 calories, heart rate 132 average, 167 max, 2,804 steps. Today we had a day at the school for two of my grandchildren. One was for the 6 year old and the other was at the high school for my granddaughter who is a senior this year. We went to lunch with the their other grandparents between and visited. Then tonight was the football game. They had the parents and grandparents go out on the field and the athletes and cheer leaders were called out to meet them and they read a bio and life verse from the Bible for each student. They gave the mothers roses which was really nice. It was so cold. Tonight we have a freeze warning. I went from short sleeves yesterday to a wool sweater and boots today.

Jolie, Pyramid is a good one. I always liked the format of that one and the use of dumbbells for the upper body. I hope that you enjoyed the Homecoming.

Debbie, maybe the heart rate and calorie burn was because you got up so early this morning. Although I have noticed a few differences in my Fit Bit Blaze lately and wondered if it had something to do with that update. Although yesterday and today those really high numbers seem to have dropped back a bit for me. I had my Fit Bit exceed what Map My Fitness said when running together yesterday and on the cardio workout the day before. Today it was only slightly behind. Map my Fitness runs off the heart rate from the Fit Bit. I just use Aerobics as the setting on MMF most of the time. I switch to weights if I am doing weights. That is when they differ a lot as the Fit Bit really does not give many calories for weights. Great calorie burn today.

This mornings workout was Kelly Coffey Cardio Kick Stepboxing, 470 calories, 71 minutes, heart rate 137 average, 167 max, 5,891 steps. It is not often I get over 400 calories with the Fit Bit :D I then did Barre Amped Lower Body Stretch from Strength and Stretch, 19 minutes, 32 calories. 502 calories total, 90 minutes.

I have finished the Total Body rotation but am going to extend it for another couple weeks. I did the first workout of the rotation again and had a great workout.

3 sets/5 reps with 1 minute rest - warmed up with GS Chest & Tri's

Incline Bench Press - 85#
Barbell Row - 60#
Leg Press + Calf Raises
- 155# (Did 20 reps for calf raises)
Overhead Barbell Press - 40#/50#/45# (So couldn't find a good weight for this, 45# was good)
EZ Barbell Curls - 45#
Close Grip Barbell Press - 70#

Then did 1 mile on my treadmill.

Workout was 60 minutes, burned 134 calories, Avg. HR 89, Max 134. Went 3132 steps.

Diane Sue - I'm wondering if the current update changed the calories burn as well, I've noticed that too. My HR seems to be a bit higher, too. Weird. Nice workout, that one sounds like fun. I wish it wasn't with the step, though.

Jolie & Roselyn - Hope you had a great weekend!!!

Today I used Kelly Coffey's Shape Up using two of the mixes as I wanted to do the cardio which is high impact and targets lower body separate from the weights which is all upper body. I started with the cardio only mix, 34 minutes, tabata rounds of 20 work 10 rest,8 rounds each exercise, heart rate 132 average, 171 max, 263 calories, 2,391 steps. I then did the weights only mix which took a bit longer since I wrote everything down,(I need to make a worksheet for this. Kelly said she would look into it , but it has not appeared on her website yet. I imagine because it is more of a cardio and weight workout if done as it is. I like the weights alone most of the time. This workout was 38 minutes, heart rate averag3 102/ max 134 (I skipped the warm up) 168 calories, 615 steps.
The weights are done in 8 rounds each exercise 20 sec work, 10 sec rest
Back-split stance row single arm and dbl arm fly 15# dumbbells 8 rounds
shoulders- double arm press rnd 1 alternating press rnd 2 repeat for 8 rounds (option to run the arms) 10# dumbbells 12 reps
chest and tirceps heavy flys into skullcrusher rnd 1 singles, rnd 2 doubles repeat for 8 rounds 15's 6 reps singles 3 reps doubles
back- rows 15's 12 reps round 1 15's run row round 2 repeat for 8 rounds
shoulders and trices- lateral raise to kickbacks 8's ( did 1 round with 10's) both moves count as 1 rep 6 reps total each round
chest/ core - bench press 15's rnd 1 bench press with scissor legs 15's rnd 2 for 8 rounds 12 reps each

Debbie, great job today :)

Today I did Cathe Live Upper Body Sculpting and had a great workout. I am not going to post all of the exercises and weights because there are a lot of them and I did the same weights as last week. Workout was 1 hour and I burned 427 calories. The warm up is so long for this workout I burned 65 calories! My fitbit is not syncing to my phone anymore! I have to do it manually or nothing shows up for the day. I am thinking about getting the new one I saw on tv for Christmas. It looks like it can do everything!

I didn't workout this weekend because of my late night Friday football game and then Homecoming on Saturday. Wow, I was wiped out all weekend long but it was so much fun. My boys looked so handsome and so did their dates.

Debbie,
did you get your Kelly workouts yet? I was wondering if you had a chance to preview them yet. Nice job on the total body workout this morning, those are some impressive weights. I have gone lighter with the weights and seem to have less pain and injuries. I guess I should listen to my body... I have lost muscle mass but I would rather that than be in sever pain.

Diane Sue, nice job on workout Saturday. I will check back in to see what you do today!

Have a great day. Tomorrow I have to take my son to the doctors first thing in the morning and then a dentist appointment after so I don't know if I will get to workout.

I made myself a work log for Shape Up weights while the Fitness Repair guy was here. Finally the tread climber is working and put back together. One thing out of several fixed and working. I wish it was my car working right. I am getting tired of sitting in parking lots waiting for it to decide it is not a security risk and to start. We have had it in 3 times now for this issue.

Jolie, I do the weight only on Shape up way more than the cardio. I love the tabata upper body weights on that one. The cardio is kind of hard on the knees for me. I cannot do it often. It is not fun running around in pain all of the time. I have had that happen to me with the Fit Bit Blaze. I had to shut it down, turn off bluetooth and pair them all over again. They say sometimes too many bluetooth devices in the same room can cause issues as well. Sometimes I have had to remove my tablet or my phone to another room to get one of them to sync. It has been better lately though.
