Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for November 2019

Doreen - Tubo Fire is on BB on Demand. I read somewhere that the music on demand isn't the same as on the DVD? I don't know if that is true or not? The music on DVD is fantastic.

No workout for me today. I feel pretty good but when I lay down and try to push myself up with my elbow, my traps really hurt. Yet I don't feel that pain while standing or doing normal stuff. So weird. Muscles are still tight but getting better. I'll have to check out how that back thing works, I might get one.

Jolie - So sorry to hear about your son. He needs real life to kick in the teeth. I wouldn't do shit for him anymore. Good for you making him wash his own clothes. I don't get these kids, they think the world owes them everything. BS! Nice workout, I may try that one once I'm sure I'm good to go. Looks good and tough.

Diane - I hope my weight gain is water. I just need to start sweating with my workouts again. I'm sure I will lose it, I just need to get going with my workouts again.

Belinda - Great job with your workout today!! :)

Roselyn - Great job with Gym Style. Always loved that series. Always wanted Cathe to do another one similar to that but she never did.

Doreen - Great job with your workouts yesterday and today!!

Have a great workout everyone! I am going to be lazy!!

This morning I just did Lite Cardio Party with the bonus stretch, 53 minutes, 313 calories, met 6.8, heart rate 133 average, max 181, 3,845 steps. I had to get out and do errands.

Debbie, I think in some ways we are trying to torture that pain away LOL You should have seen how hard the PT worked on some of those knots along with working my neck and head.

Jolie, your life with your son sounds exhausting and really unbearable. I don't know about him doing his own laundry. Those young men tend to leave them in the washer and forget to take them out. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't end up finishing. I sure wouldn't fold them anymore. Does he put them in a hamper? If they are all over the floor just leave them. There is no reason that you should be a slave to your child who should appreciate all he has. Your house will feel so calm when he either moves on or grows up. That is some long looking workout for only being 40 minutes. Nice work. I am sure you will be feeling it. I like Bob and Brad. They did a lot of things that were similar to what they did at PT. I also watch the Motivational Doc who gives a lot of information and ways to help make problem areas feel better, and John Bergman who are chiropractors. I think John Bergman can lean a bit more to avoiding meat though and avoiding any immunizations. But, he has some good information.

Doreen, metabolic workouts are not so easy to decide ahead of time what weight you need. They tend to move more quickly and lots of compound moves. Probably better to go on the lighter side the first time. Nice work.

Roselyn, great job on the workout. Have gotten settled in to your new home yet?

Belinda, that would be odd doing Turbo Fire with different music. It had such good music on it.

Good morning,

HiiT Pyramid is done.

Debbie - sorry you are still dealing with the pain. Hope you feel better soon.

Jolie - great job yesterday.

Diane - that's what I thought too. Not sure, if it has something to do with copyrights?

Have a great weekend.

Good morning and Happy Saturday! I feel fantastic today, my son didn't come home last night, he stayed at a friends house, and my husband and i had the most enjoyable evening and morning without him here giving us dirty looks LOL! When he is not home, i am way more relaxed and feel so much better, crazy what stress can do to you. Anyway, i walked on my Treadmill for 70 minutes, incline range from 6.0 to 8.0 and speed range was 3.2 to 3.4. Wow, walking uphill is such a great workout. I finished with Power Hour Biceps only and i used a 20# BB. That is a NO JOKE bicep workout! I love it, i have to do the entire upper body workout this week. Total workout time was 75 minutes and i burned 725 calories. Average heart rate was 129 and max was 173.

So i have been watching music videos on YouTube while walking and i have to say, Madonna in the 1990's looks so fantastic, i want her arms! They are so cute and her shoulders look amazing too. She has such low body fat but it is something to strive for right? I printed up a picture of her and put it on the wall by my TM to inspire me :) Vision Boards really motivate me so i did it because i really want to loose some body fat and will do whatever to motivate myself.

Debbie, i hope you feel good enough to lift next week. Yes, I have felt like kicking the crap out of my son, but nothing works anymore. My dad is so pissed off, 86 years old, and will be coming to my house next weekend to "knock some sense into him" as he would say so i am happy about that. My dad is a bad ass and my son knows it! I am loving my TM so i will be doing a lot of walking to drop the pounds.

Diane Sue, How is your pain level lately? It sounds like you are doing better. My son leaves his cloths everywhere, it drives me absolutely bonkers! I know what you mean about the laundry. He will leave his cloths and then i wont be able to do mine and then that will be a problem. Teenagers today!!

Belinda, nice workout and have a great weekend.

Enjoy the day!

Quick check in. I did Lite Pyramid Pump Lower Body Timesaver premix Pyramid up and did Cathe's weights. I normally went heavier for this. I then did the Lite Bonus abs 2 and stretch 2. I finished off with some PT work. Lower body was 31 minutes, 118 calories, met 4.5, 723 steps. Abs and stretch 2 was 21 minutes, 70 calories, met 4, 18 steps. PT exercises other than what I did when I woke up was 15 minutes, 25 calories, 116 steps.

I did the new CL Kickboxing this morning. So. Much.Fun!! I love it - constant movement, good combos, etc. And Nate... let's talk about Nate - the guest in the class. Cathe introduced him and said the class would know him from something but I couldn't understand her. He was putting so much intensity into the moves I was inspired to kick and punch a little harder!

Jolie, I am glad you had a nice relaxing day and such a great workout. Those Power Hour Biceps are not long, but with no rest they set your arms on fire :) Nice work and glad you finally have the treadmill.

Doreen, I wonder who Nate was? It is great when you have motivating people on the workouts.

Belinda, it could be the copyrights. Maybe that is why they don't put music on all of their workouts anymore.

So I am still in pain. Diane, I swear I am going through the same thing you just went through!! Maybe not quite as bad, but it's bad enough.

I looked up the videos of the PT guys you were talking about and watched two videos on neck/shoulder/back pain and decided to do the one from the PT guy from Tone & Tighten and did 10 things he suggested in the video. So I did it while watching and then paused it to do the exercises for a little bit. Like 10 reps or 30 seconds or 1 minute, whatever it called for. I do feel a little better and my muscle feel loosened a bit. I plan on doing these this week because I really don't think I can lift or do kickboxing again. Wednesday and Thursday I can't do anything at all because I have to be at work really early for an event I'm having. I can't believe how tight my upper back and traps are. They do feel much better so we'll see how I feel tomorrow. I hope it doesn't get worse.

It's a shame we only do these exercises when we are in pain and its too late. I wish I had time to do these stretches along with my lower body stretches during the week. I feel like if I don't workout with a hard workout every day, I'm wasting time. My body is telling me I need to start stretching more and I just don't do it.

Nice job on all your workouts this weekend! You girls are kicking butt!!

Today was a rest day.

Belinda, I got some of my Zumba workouts back and never want to do them. They were from the exhilarate set. I wouldn't know who Nate was.

Debbie, I am so sorry you are having the pain and tightness experience. I think I have finally learned that I need the stretching and fascia work. My problem is I have been so concentrated on the neck and shoulders and I am trying to get a bit more lower body in along with some workouts. I don't want to end up with pain in lower body too. I have been rolling and working on the tissue in the left side of my neck and upper back/trap area of the left side. Yesterday I used the therapy balls and did some of the trigger points with my fingers like they did at PT and the Motivational Doc shows. It hurts at first but gets better. By last night it was hard to find the sore spots. I woke feeling great this morning. Tonight it is a bit tight, but we ventured out for a ride on the Harley. It was really nice today, and I have only been on it 2 times and they were short. My shoulder and neck problem kept me from doing much of anything this summer. Wearing the helmet and battling the wind seems to make my neck stiff. Hopefully you can find something that works. I am keeping up with the moves on both sides of my neck and shoulders. I feel great that I can finally reach up in a cupboard to get something and blow dry my hair without pain and limited motion. It was getting pretty frustrating.

I woke up feeling a LOT better and there is relief in my traps and upper back. Still sore, but wow, I cannot believe those stretches and exercises worked. I did them again this morning. It's funny, when Diane posted her PT exercises took her 90 minutes, I get it. They take a while to do and you do them slowly. You have to time them and hold them and not rush through them. I feel good right now and I can tell this is really helping.

These are the 10 things I did:

  • Heated the area for 10 minute w/heated corn bag
  • Ear to Shoulder stretch using my hand to pull my head down gently - 3 set/30 second holds each side
  • Armpit stretch using my hand to pull my head down gently - 3 sets/10 times each side
  • Shrug/Pull shoulder blades together hold for 3 sec/release - 2 sets/10 times
  • Shrug/Ear down to shoulder/pull shoulder blades together hold for 3 sec/Relax - 1 set/5 times each side
  • Chin Tucks (these feel amazing when you are done) - 3 sets/10 times
  • Foam Roller - Lay with the roller going longways and rest your head. Bring arms above your head back down - 3 sets/10 times
  • Snow Angels against Wall - These are the hardest for me because you have to place your butt/shoulders/head against the wall and then raise your arms above your head touching the wall with the backs of your hands the whole time. I cannot do it. This shows me how bad my posture is. I did 3 sets/10 reps. I did better with this today then I did yesterday.
  • Wall Slides - elbows on wall on top of a towel sliding it up and down. - 3 sets/10 times
  • Fascia releases w/therapy ball against the wall. Felt great and most of the knots are now gone. My right side seems worse than my left yet this whole time I thought it was my left side that caused me so much pain.

Great stuff, I am really loving learning about this. My body needs this and I hope I can incorporate it a few times a week when I'm pain free. I can't believe how much better I feel!

Diane - Thank you for the link. I will check that out! I have great respect for what you have been through these last couple of months.

Hope you all have great workouts! I'll be back later for personals.

Debbie, I recognize those moves. It was nice for me having the PT watch and correct. Those wall snow angel moves were impossible for me at first. They had me lean on the wall with arms bent in an L and try to get them overhead. I could not do it at all first. Then I would get an inch or so. Chin tucks I did 10 every day seated, 10 lying chin tucks, and chin tucked side to side head roll on a mostly deflated beach ball 20 total. I do those chin tucks throughout the day while sitting on the computer reading or reading my tablet. Keep it up even after the pain is gone. I do some of them all day long. I can sure sympathize with you. I was tightening my neck to much at first with the chin tucks and she had to work with me on relaxing and barely doing them at first. Apparently I was supposed to be strengthening inner muscles and not tightening the outer ones. Something I was unaware of as I had been doing these before I ever went to the doctor or PT. I was just following the Robin McKenzie book. They had me lie on towel roll every day for 3 minutes, then doing punch ups and back down for 20 reps, then graduated to band pulls (fly move) and band holding the band with reverse grip elbows held to side and opening in and out. Always payed attention to shoulders down and pulled together. This really takes concentration all of the time. I did the wall slides with towel as well. She said I was fine doing the foam roller lengthwise work instead of a towel at home. I lie on it before I go to bed at night as well as in the morning workouts.

Belinda, nice work on afterburn.

Good morning, 1 hour 20 minute Treadmill walk is done, 4.2 miles, 6.0 to 8.0 incline, 3.2 to 3.3 speed and i burned 749 calories! Average heart rate was 125 and max was 177.

Debbie, i am so glad that you have found some release with those PT exercises. If you get that tool from Amazon, you can hit those points on the upper back by yourself like in the video that Diane posted. I swear it works to break up that Myofascial stuff that pulls us out of place and keeps us in pain. I used to have a Myofascial release specialist that used to come to my house and work on me for 1 hour and a half and break it all up, i used to feel so much better. She moved out of town so i haven't found another person to replace her. My husband had Frozen Shoulder, literally couldn't move at all and she broke it all up and he was amazed at how well it worked. He couldn't sleep, sit, raise his arm nothing, and it all went away.

Belinda, great job with After Burn today, i haven't done that one in ages. Is that a good workout, is it high impact?

Diane Sue, i am glad that you are feeling better, all of that had work has paid off and i am sure your body appreciates it. This is why i am going to walk more, it is easier on my body!

Doreen, i never see Nate in the videos, which workout number did you do, i want to check him out LOL!

BBL to read your posts. Have a wonderful day.

This morning I did Jessica Smith YouTube Metabolic Circuit, 42 minutes, 179 calories, heart rate average 109, max 143, met 5.0, 999 steps. She uses a high step with 3 risers for this. There is no jumping and she uses 5# dumbbells and 10# for the weight work. I dropped to 8 on some of the chest work and modified when she did push ups and pushups with feet on the step. Part of the time I just did some speed skaters. I also did Jessica Smith YouTube weight loss yoga, 20 minutes, 230 steps, met 3.5, 62 calories, heart rate average 109, max 134. Total time 62 minutes, 241 calories, 1,229 steps.
Funny thing, I saw an outdoor bike ride on yesterday's workout. (I took a rest day). I realized when I looked at the time that Fit Bit gave me a bike ride for the motorcycle ride and I burned 168 calories for 39 minutes. I even got my heart rate up. It was 88 average, 146 max. I imagine the upper end was either when the lane was running out and a woman tried to pull into us to get over, and another was when we got on the highway and a truck came in it kept it's turn signal on and seemed undecided on getting over. We were alongside of it. I was relieved when we got past it. I am a big chicken when it comes to other people on the road.

Jolie, I am glad you are enjoying the treadmill so much. I am discovering with all of the lower activity that I have had, that I really do not need to seek super intense long workouts to stay in shape. All that does is make me more hungry anyway. I think if I monitored my diet well I would do better than over doing workouts.
That is what I thought when I see those trigger point pressure massages, that the tool would be great. Sometimes my fingers are achy and it is kind of hard on them while I am trying to loosen up those knots.
The PT kept talking to me about needing those moves that seemed to hurt, because I did not want to get frozen shoulder.

Diane - How often can you do these PT exercises? Once a day? Every other day? Can you do them too much? As the day progressed I started feeling knots again and my neck got really tight so I did the neck stretches again and now I'm pressing the knots with my therapy ball. What is the "towel roll"? Nice job with your workouts, so good to see you working out again!

Jolie - I will look into those things and maybe get one. They certainly look interesting. Impressive that it helped your husband so much. Great job on your walk today!

Belinda - Great job with Afterburn!

Doreen - I REALLY want to do the new kickboxing CL workout you did the other day. Looks like so much fun!!

Roselyn - Thank you!! Still not great but feeling relief for sure. Nice job with your workout!

Roxie - Where are you?? Hope all is well.
