Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for June 2021

Good morning,

I was going to do Cathe newest Live BC workout she posted yesterday, I didn't feel like jumping around much today. I went for a 2 mile walk and did Karen Voight Firm Arms & Abs. Haven't done that workout in years.Besides the dated music/clothes I had an amazing UB/ab workout. Not sure, what was up with Karen and the crew swinging around very light weights? I think they used 5's? I used much heavier weights, I used 10's. KV did about 12 preps each exercise. The exercises flowed very well. I did like the ab section. Instead of doing the exercises on the floor with a mat, she did them on an incline. I really felt my abs. I actually liked much more doing abs on the step instead on the floor. I have to remember doing it with Cathe's workouts. My back kills me doing them on the floor.

Today my husband is officially retired. My husband is planning on buying another RV so we can travel again. Flying right now is out of the question.

Diane - most people would lay in bed all day when they are sick. I am the opposite I have to move. Like I said, the only time I slept was when I had a fever over 103 F. It only happened twice, both times I had a sinus/ear infection. I don't take a lot of subelements except what my doctors give me. I eat a vegan diet, I should get all the vitamins/minerals my body needs. Good for you for checkin with your doctor first.

Roselyn - nice job with your shoulders.

Debbie - thank you! I did take a Z Pack last week. It didn't help. We still have our Bowflex, lol. We had it since years. We hardly use it. It just sits around. I should try to sell it, but probably won't get any money. My husband once in a while uses the bow flex especially for this physical therapy.

Jolie - hope you had a great workout/or rest day yesterday.

Doreen - aww... very funny about your puppy. They are so cute at that age.

Sorry I did not post yesterday, my computer had a virus and I need my son to help me out with it. Yesterday I went for a 2 mile walk and did STS Meso 2 Disc # 16 Triceps too. Today I went for a 3 mile walk and I did not lift weights because my boys were using the gym when I got back from my walk. Today I burned 611 calories and boy did my feet swell because of the heat. I might have to start walking earlier in the summer so I dont get over heated.

I will read your posts later today, I have so much to get done and I am behind!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Today I did the beginning of CDorner #172 full body cardio which was warm up and all of the cardio moves that would be used, then changed my mind when she started with squat press, 11 minutes, heart rate 112/151, 43 calories, 687 steps. I then did today's Full Body Strength workout she called Tone and Tan on her website. This was 53 minutes, heart rate 103/138, 136 calories, 517 steps. I experimented with the sets etc using strength training. It worked pretty well and counted reps close to what I counted I messed up pushing the buttons a few times so it gave me 22 sets instead of what I counted as 27. I pushed wrong and some of it measured as rests. Anyway, it always shows the full time and calorie burn etc..
I finished with CDorner Deep stretch 22 minutes, 32 calories, 32 steps, heart rate 78/98. Total time was 86 minutes, 211 calories, 1,236 steps.
Full Body Strength was 53 minutes using dumbbells and bands 3 rounds of 5 moves then 2 rounds of another group of 5 moves ending with a bonus of extra abs moves
round 1-3
move 1 heavy band (fabric purple) above knees 20# dbs squat(she changes the moves slightly each rnd and uses 25#) pulses first round slow squat 2nd rnd half squats 3rd
move 2 dead row 20# dbs wearing band
move 3 reverse lunge 20# dbs 3rd round option of kneeling on floor and back up into lunge 15# dbs
move 4 mini latex type loop band W pulls in boat pose rnd 2 knee pulls W pulls rnd 3 W pulls knee twist
move 5 squat/hammer curl 15# dbs me rnd 2 squat to lateral lunge hammer and rnd 3 side step squat hammer
rnd 4-5
move 1 plie squat /lateral raise ( I used 8# dbs)
move 2 soft band/skullcrusher 10# dbs leg raises
move 3 no weight double leg raise/crunch
move 4 bicycle crunch head elevated
move 5 side plank (I just did the leg raise crunch again)
Bonus
1 dumbbell 10# sit up twist
no weight abs move

Roselyn, June came around so fast. Nice work and also getting a walk in.

Debbie, I don't think that I have done that Box and Pump yet. My legs and backside were still sore somewhat when I did today's workout which had quite a bit of leg work in it. I think Chris mainly used 20 and 25# dumbbells today. No overhead presses in this one. I never noticed a significant change in calories and stats from one setting to another on my devices. I use the Cardio setting for most cardio or intervals on my Garmin and strength for weight and strength work or something like abs. There is martial arts which I have not tried. I use the yoga setting for yoga and stretching. I remember using the Polar app and bluetooth polar strap and having it give different readings with circuits and bootcamp workouts. Also it seemed with the blaze that those workouts were a bit lower than just using workout. Fitbit I pretty much used just workout setting for everything. It was lousy no matter what. Garmin has a class workout setting, but I have not checked it out. I always went to Sprouts and Dollar General since the virus stuff and once in awhile Walmart grocery, but not the big supercenter. Here, the closest grocery store for me is Walmart. They do have a Cash Saver that was awful. It is a Homeland outlet and packages were crushed, things seemed old. Fruits and vegetables that were sparse were in bad shape. I only tried it once and that was it. Dollar General is the closest store to me. I had to go out to the garage and bring my fan in. I did not want a ceiling fan in the workout room I am using for step as for some reason those two rooms on that side of the house have lower ceilings. The office, master and main part of the house have really high ceilings. There is already a ceiling fan in the room I have the tread climber, spin bike and new heavy bag in. They left another ceiling fan in the attic, but I said to leave it up there. Chris did say something about where is the fan or something like that. Seriously, I don't remember ever sweating enough to have that wet of hair though.

Doreen, my dog will still get in the way, but usually will move if I tell her to scoot. I let her hang out as I feel guilty chasing her off most of the time and she is much better than when she was younger. She likes to get in my face or lie right up against me when I am trying to do yoga or floor work. Heavy bag punching always gets her excited. It did my other dog as well. Maybe they think I am attacking something. Although my husband punched it the other day and she was jumping all over him! I am glad that I am past training the dog to stay out of stuff and not dig up the yard. Mine started out loving to dig. Since here at the new house I have had to scold her 3 times to stay out of the rock planter and so far she just walks around it now.

Belinda, I used to have a couple of Karen Voight workouts on VHS. I liked her, just never got anything in dvd format. I am sure you will enjoy the RV for traveling. That sounds like a good idea for you. I hope retirement is great for you both. I understand on the working out. I worked out long and hard the time I got pneumonia. Probably not the smartest thing. When I had covid, I was tempted to workout as my fever was low grade, but I was a bit worried about the outcome so didn't. That left me pretty tired though and I slept a lot. But, normally I would just go ahead and work out.

Jolie, it is nice when you have someone else that can help when you get a virus. I use PC Matic and so far knock on wood, no problems. Nice work getting STS in yesterday and a walk today.

THis morning I did CDoerner's AMRAP workout. I only did about 45 mintutes since it was just the same circuit of 8 exercises and I wanted to take the puppy for a walk before it got too hot.

Good morning,

DH and I went for a long walk early this morning. Then we went to the farmers market to pick up our CSA. I decided to start doing another CSA, we eat a ton of vegetables. The only thing I hate is I have to clean everything. Forgot when you buy certified organic, it means you get some bugs/worms with it, lol. I am l cleaning everything very good before I put it in my refrigerator.

After the farmers market we went to the grocery store to pick up peaches, bananas and onions ( I didn't know I got 2 giant onions with my CSA).

We witness a hit a run with a motorcycle. DH and I drove behind the motorcycle all the sudden the motorcycle was on the ground. My DH said, he just got hit by the truck. I didn't see the guy from the motorcycle move, I told my husband to call 911 while I got out of our car and check on him. I was surprised a lot of cars stopped and wanted to help. We live in a small town, the police/ambulance can in less than 5 min. The hospital is just a block away. The truck that hit the motorcycle took off. DH and I were worried about the guy with the motorcycle. My husband tried to catch the truck with no luck. How on earth can anyone hit a person and run? What if the guy would have died. Luckily the guy was talking, he hit his head really bad. Two nurses also stopped and helped. The police took DH statement. I hope they catch the guy with the truck. What a day!!

Today I went for a 4 mile walk outside, beautiful sunny weather, it feels great to be outside. Walk was 76 minutes, burned 747 calories and my heart rate was 141/181. I went up some really hard hills, I was dying by the time I would get to the top. I was supposed to do Biceps this morning but I just cant motivate myself to lift today. Oh well...

Belinda, Congrats to your husband, it must feel so good to retire!!! Nice job on the walk today and thanks for posting about the motorcycle accident, I took a picture of the post and sent it to my husband today to read. We got in an argument this morning because he wanted to ride his motorcycle to work today on the freeway and I told him no!!!!!!! He gets so made at me but I worry about him getting hit too.

Doreen, nice job with the workout today. How is your daughter doing?

Diane Sue, Great job on the workout yesterday, that one looks fun! I want to start something new to do for workouts but not sure what right now.

Roxie, have you tried MBF from Beach Body yet? If so, what are your thoughts?

Have a wonderful Saturday.

Jolie - thank you on DH's retirement! We are looking forward. The guy on the motorcycle was maybe our age? A very good friend of ours, he was stationed with DH in Germany. He was a huge fan of motorcycles, he loved riding his bike. Him and his best friend wrote their motorcycles. Our friend had a heart attack while riding his bike, he said to his friend he wasn't feeling well. Felt off the bike and died in his friends arms. This friend tried everything to keep him alive. He was on of the healthiest, fittest and nicest people I have ever known. We are all (everyone in the military) still in shock over his passing. My DD told me yesterday one of our friends we known from the military, their son died in a motorcycle accident. He was my kids age, they grew up/went to school on base together. My heart goes out to their families. I can't imagine what they are going through. I understand you being worried for your husband. I would be too.

Today I did CDorner #118 for 17 minutes, 86 calories, 1,824 steps heart rate 126/155. I like that one, but changed my mind and hunted for something else that I have not done. I then did CDorner #40, 58 minutes, heart rate 128/172, 245 calories, 4,961 steps. This was just so so, It said" great" music and it sounded like all latin type music. I did not recognize the songs. Total time was 75 minutes, 331 calories, 6,785 steps.

Belinda, that is great that you stopped to help the motorcycle rider. Terrible that the one that hit him took off. I think there are more people that good hearted and will stop to help when someone needs it than one would think. I hope that they catch the driver that took off.
My husband has had motorcycles for a good part of our lives.

Doreen, I find those weight workouts that repeat the same round of moves work well when I am short on time and I want to get at least some strength work in along with cardio.

Jolie, nice job getting in a walk today. Great calorie burn. My husband always tells me that there there are less accidents on the highways than driving on the streets. This because I would rather be on the streets. It always worries me as traffic is moving so fast and there is not much time to avoid an accident. My husband used to ride a motorcycle to work at an oil refinery out there at one time.

Good morning,

I have an early eye appointment on Monday. This week have a few appointments early in the morning scheduled. I will try to squeeze my workouts in when I can due to traffic.

Today I did KV Lean Legs & Buns. Although I haven't done KV's workouts in years, they still very good workouts, IMO! I guess, I will hold on to those workouts.

Diane - that's what you suppose to do. It was also nice lots people stopped their cars and wanted to help. It's nice to know we have great people in our town. One man handed me a water bottle for the motorcyclist. I still can't believe whoever hit that guy ran off. I hope they find the piece of #@$!. I don't know much about motorcycles, my husband said he had a very nice bike. Well, it's kaputt now.

BBL!

Today is a rest day as usual. I made another recipe for a roasted vegetable macaroni and cheese tonight. I wish I did not make the whole recipe. I think I accidentally grabbed the vanilla macadamia milk for the non dairy cheese sauce:rolleyes: Plus it called for cashew or oat milk. I also subbed chickpea pasta, a different brand than before, and this one has a weird texture, which I suspected when I put it in the boiling water and the water turned cloudy right away. I cooked it al dente, but it did not help much. Maybe I will put more hot sauce in it as they called for that and I used a Tablespoon of Franks red sauce. It is only okay the way I made it.

Belinda, nice work with Karen Voight Lean Legs and Buns. I probably know more about motorcycles than I want to :p Our last was a Harley and my husband added all kinds of extras to it. We sold it as it makes my neck hurt riding on the back fighting the wind. Going out on it together was the reason my husband bought it. We have had quite a few and spent time looking at them along with with rides with some groups for special causes.
I hear you on appointments. I have them this week and starting out the next week.

Roselyn, I hope you had a nice time on your trip this weekend.

This morning I did CDorner's 80's Cardio Dance - Pointer Sisters Jump workout. It was really fun but I can't see anyone doing this one more than maybe twice because once you learn it, it would get really annoying because really the whole workout is Chris teaching you the moves until the end when she puts it together and you do it four times in a row. However, I had a blast with it, and really burned some great calories which surprised me. Chris was drenched in sweat and she had to towel dry her hair she was sweating so bad. I didn't break a sweat until the very end and not really that much either. It was a lot of fun, though and had great music in it.

Workout was 52 minutes, burned 326 calories, did 5476 steps and HR was 119/158.

Hope you all had a great weekend, it sure did go fast. No time for personals so I will be back tomorrow! Have a great workout!!!

Yesterday I forgot to post my workout. My husband and I went for a 4.3 mile walk at the beach, 1 hour 22 minutes and burned 801 calories. It was such a beautiful day, the ocean was a Turquoise color like in the Caribbean, however it was cool out instead of hot! Today is my rest day, my feet are sore. I am not sure what I will do this week, I am tired of doing STS, the workouts are very long in Meso 2 and slow... too long of rest breaks. I might start a total body circuit workout of my own so I hit every muscle every week. Or, should I go back to Cathe Live because she is back teaching people in person?

Debbie, great workout today. I just checked out her workouts and there is NO way I could do her step workouts, I would fall on my face lol!

I hope you all have great workouts today.

Today I did C Dorner Aerobics by the Pool, 42 minutes, heart rate 147/177, 4,421 steps, 261 calories. This was basic-intermediate step, fast. It was kind of fun and easy to follow moves. She used hip hop type music and had two other women workout with her. I think she was half way through till she took off her sunglasses. I then started a few minutes of an older dance workout and decided I did not want to do it, so kept going with her No Equipment 18 minute core workout, 72 calories, and finished with mobility relaxing for flexibility last routine, heart rate 72/91, 41 calories, 32 minutes. Core and mobility and that bit of dance was 780 steps. I didn't stop to check between workouts. Total time was 1 hour 40 minutes, 374 calories, 5,201 steps. Chris almost always has plank work in her core and abs workouts. Today I thought, yeah she is starting standing, and it started with balancing , but then did walk outs on the hands and back up. There were some plank moves, but I did them on my forearms. My right shoulder hurts and keeps feeling like something catches at a certain point so during mobility I had to limit some of the range of my arm going back.

Debbie, I thought that was interesting that her hair got that sweaty during the workout. No wonder she braids it or pulls it up. She does spend a lot of time breaking down the moves on some of those workouts and my heart rate goes down till we get it. Although I have done a couple over again and I kind of know the moves so I just do it faster when I can and don't do the slow breakdown. It depends on how difficult it is. It is amazing that I can get the moves down with her. Usually I hate dance type workouts because I am stumbling all over the place. The music was fun on that one and always helps.

Jolie, the walk with your husband sounds nice. I am wondering if Cathe will have some band workouts using her long bands on her live workouts. I am not ready to do hers again yet.

Belinda, hope your morning appointments go well today.

Hi,

Today I saw an ophthalmologist. A few weeks ago when I stayed with DD her puppy ate my reading classes. My DD made an appointment with the Optician at her old apartment. When I went to Costco a to get my reading glasses/regular glasses, I was told they couldn't help me they don't make glasses in that prescription. They said I have to go to specialty eye places. I mean it was a big jump in my eye with the new prescription. Just to make sure it wasn't related to RP, I saw a specialist today. Turns out the opticiosn gave me a wrong prescription. Turns out my eyes haven't changed since the last time I saw ophthalmologist 4 years ago. YEAH! He ran all kinds of tests behind my eyes/images you name it. He dilate my eyes still seeing blurry. I am so happy for the good news. Not to mention I have to go out and spent lots $$$ on expensive glasses. At one point I think I will get lasik eye surgery. I need to find the best lasik surgery in the country. I also don't have to get reading glasses made, I can buy them in Wal Mart or Costco.

I will do SBF new rotations once I can see clear. BBL!

Today I did Cathe Live All In Upper Body, one of my favorite workouts, and had a great workout. I lifted the same weights as Cathe during the entire workout. Workout was 60 minutes with my stretch and I burned 421 calories. Funny, the last time I did this workout I burned the exact same amount of calories. Heart rate was 120/158. I am not going to do a rotation this month, I just want to do some CL workouts along with walking outside. I am going to go where ever the wind takes me this month :)

Belinda, nice walk today and getting it done early before it gets hot. Great news on your eyes!!!!

Update on my dog. Come to find out, my sister in law had the same issue with her dog and they told her it was Cancer too. She went to another vet and they put the dog on Antibiotics and the lump went away. I am going to do the same thing for my dog and see what happens. His blood tests just came back and they were perfect, so I dont think he has cancer. Yeah!!!! It is a mass of something but i do not know what it is.

I hope you all have great workouts today!

I forgot to post my workout this morning. Actually, I was really busy at work and it just slipped my mind.

I did RAW Upper Body Workout with Sammie and had a great workout. I lifted what Kelly did except for triceps - my left tricep STILL hurts. I did the triceps exercises, but only used 5's instead of 8's. I used 12's for the larger muscle groups. It's not even worth posting my stats because I only burned - get this - 64 calories. The workout was only 30 minutes, but still. My HR was up and I was sweating so not sure what the deal is with this lousy calorie burn.

I also walked/jog on my treadmill for 20 minutes, that felt great. I really miss running.

Jolie - So glad to hear your dog doesn't have cancer and his blood work came back good. I'm sure the antibiotics will help. Great job with your kick ass workout, I love that one too. You could definitely do CDorner's step workouts, they are easy. She teaches them so well and is excellent at cuing. If you can do the workouts by Yvette, you can do these. They are fun! The Jump workout I did yesterday wasn't step, it was a dance workout.

Belinda - Good job with your walk, it's humid here too and we've been having thunderstorms. I can't believe we are having high 80's and almost 90 degrees already. We don't usually get those temps until the end of July. Unbelievable about that doctor giving you the wrong prescription. WTH? I wanted to do lasik but my eyes are too bad and they won't even bother. They told me I'd have to wear glasses or contacts anyways so there is no point. Oh well.

Roselyn - Great job on chest yesterday!

Diane - I do the same thing, once I learn the moves Chris is teaching I do them faster. She's a great instructor. I hate dancy workouts but that one was fun. I did it because you said it was fun. LOL!! I was shocked I caught on so well.

Roxie - Did you see the new Colour Pop eyeshadow pallet called Stone Cold Fox? It's awesome, I might get it but not sure I'd use all those eyeshadows.

Have a great evening everyone!
