Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for January!

Today I did Cardio Coach #3. Been a couple weeks since I've ran on my treadmill due to my knee. Still feeling a little funky. I did ok with this workout. Funny thing, though, I walked 2.5 miles yesterday and jogged/ran 2.5 miles today and had less steps than when I walked. How is that possible?

Workout was 40 minutes, ran 2.69 miles, burned 265 calories.

Today I started with Piyo Strength Intervals 22 minutes, as a warm up, then did Chisel Agility 38 minutes I finished off with a Fitnessblender.com yoga that was 15 minutes. Total time 75 minutes, 403 calories.

Debbie, that makes no sense. Crazy gadgets. They are frustrating.
 
Today I did Biceps & Triceps with drop-sets. Had a great workout. This is what I did:

1:30 minutes rest between each set

Biceps & Triceps
EZ Barbell Curl:
40# - 3 sets/8 reps
Dumbbell Curl: 15's - 3 sets/10 reps
Hammer Curl: 20's/15's/12's - Drop set, no rest - 8 reps each set

EZ Bar Overhead Extension: 30# - 3 sets/10 reps
Weighted Bench Dips: 45# - 3 sets/10 reps
Dumbbell Overhead Extension: 30's/25's/20's - Drop set, no rest - 10/8/8 reps

I also walked on my treadmill for 1 mile.

Today I used Fitness Blender and did a cardio warm up for 7 minutes, Hammer Power, 38 minutes, 10 minute ab hammer 13 minutes, and finished off with 32 minutes of fitness blender posture, yoga and pilates. Total time was 77 minutes and calories burned 358.
I was a bit cautious and went a bit lighter on some of the moves on Hammer Power today. My right hip hurts a bit. This is the one with the stress fracture. Also I have Chisel Total Body tomorrow that is the 10 rep sets and I went pretty heavy on it last time.
I didn't feel comfortable with the clean, jerk, and overhead press going really heavy. Anyway, I mostly used 10s for the light sets, and 15 and 20's for the heavy sets. I do like the way that workout builds up to the full set of all of the moves. Calories were not so good. I need some cardio.

Roselyn, I had to chuckle at the whole lot of chiseling :D

Hi everyone. Today was cardio but my knees are bothering me some and the bottom of my left foot is a bit tight. I really need to start stretching, I think that is my problem. My calves are so tight along with my hamstrings and I'm sure that all pulls everything tight and is making my foot hurt. I walked 2.25 miles on my treadmill and then stretched for about 10 minutes. I feel much better. You would think I would learn my lesson about stretching, wouldn't you? It causes me all kinds of problems - always has. I need to be vigilant with this and really take the time to stretch out.

Diane Sue - Nice job listening to your body, no sense hurting yourself. You had a nice workout yesterday, too!!!
 
Today I did Ripped with Hiit Upper Circuit Blasts only premix, 22 minutes, 175 calories. I felt I could use a bit more cardio and it gave me an excellent warm up :) I then did Total Body Chisel and 10 Minute Ab Chisel, 46 minutes, 282 calories. I finished with a fitness blender 15 minute flow stretch, 36 calories. Total time was 83 minutes and calories 493. My hip is better today but, I lowered the squats a bit on the weight this time and also the step down cross back move. I am having images of some sever hip and lower back pain I had when I did something like that in a Jari Love workout, but at a faster pace. I finally started doing it on the floor at that point. Since knee surgery workouts that do the curtsy squat/lunge etc.. Have to be done with care. Anyway, I did not drop down as low and cross back as far today. I think I will either lower the step some more or do it on the floor next time. Oddly the rotation has the same Hammer Power workout down for tomorrow with Hammer Abs. 3 days in a row of abs and some significant strength work. Saturday is balance.

Debbie, I have read that the area from the hip down affects all the way down to the feet. Also tight hip flexors affect a lot that you would not think they would. Particularly if you have to sit a lot.

Today was Shoulders and Abs and I had a pretty good workout.

Shoulders
Arnold Press:

Upright Rows: 45# - 3 sets/8 reps
Dumbbell Front Raise: 8's - 3 sets/10 reps
Lateral Raise: 10's - 3 sets/10 reps
Barbell Shrugs: 50# - 3 sets/12 reps

I just did some ab exercises in between sets.

I also walked on my treadmill for 1 mile and then did a stretch.

Today I started with Low Impact Challenge premix that was 31 minutes stopping at the stretch, 217 calories. I then did Hammer Power and 10 Minute Ab Hammer, 51 minutes, 307 calories. Total time was 82 minutes and calories burned 524. My shoulders are feeling it today. I just did this two days ago. That is how it is on the schedule. I still stayed lighter on it.

Today's scheduled workout was Chisel Balance and glute chisel, 58 minutes, 338 calories. I finished off with Tabatacise blasts premix then tabata 5 with blast and stretch, , 19 minutes, 149 calories. Total time was 77 minutes and calories burned was 487.
 
Yesterday was Build Back and Bis today was Chisel Balance.

Diane Sue do you use Shakeology? I have tried it and it is good but very expensive and do you guys even use a protein supplement and if so what do you like
 
Roselyn, no I have not used Shakeology. I have never tried it. It is way too much money. I accidentally got a pack with the recovery drink once and used it but, it has too many sugars. I use some amazing Grass greens powder and once in awhile a grass fed whey with stevia. Too many companies are still loading stuff up with sucrose . I quit the greens powder once and found it did make a difference but, generally I am all for good food over supplements.

This week will be a recovery week because next week I'm going to start that full body rotation again. I really like it and have great results with it so I'm going to start it over. Today I walked on my treadmill for 1.75 miles and did Yoga Stretch. That workout says it's 20 minutes but it's more like a half hour. I didn't have time to finish it but I feel good with what I did do of it

I didn't care for Shakeology either, and it is expensive. I use the Juice + protein powder which is pretty natural. I like the flavor, too.

Yesterday was Chisel Agility and today was build shoulders and masters cardio

say some more prayers for my dad, just when he started getting out after recovering from those bleeding ulcers I had him at the er for a broken ankle last night so we are hoping for no surgery they have him in a boot right now. My mom fell saturday trying to shovel some snow so I said please just STOP we will do those things. My hubby and I were just talking about how our kids are becoming independent but now our parents need us.
 
This morning was quite frustrating. I have started having problems with my Polar HR7 Bluetooth monitor. It seemed to be doing so well and it started smelling like shorted out wires or something. My HR goes up to 225 when I am doing nothing. I changed the battery and have done everything they said to do on the Polar website. After an hour and a half of messing with it and starting over with a warm up from Hard strikes I gave up, put on an old transmitter and my watch and did Hammer and Chisel Iso Speed Hammer and 15 minute leg Hammer 42 minutes, 246 calories for both, and then finished off with Kelly Coffey's Bonus step from Strength and Stamina, 22 minutes, 183 calories. I am checking out the monitor right now so I can see how it shows on the polar site,. I am sitting here typing with a 154 to a78 HR. :mad: It has a 2 year warranty so we will see what they do.

Roselyn, I am so sorry, I will be praying for your Dad. It is hard for people to stop doing the things they would normally do as they age. I have seen it with my parents. We all like our independence.
The greens powder I use is the one with greens, gogi and acai berry. I put it in my grassfed whey with some kale and coconut milk or sometimes just mix it into some tart cherry juice or water. I once purchased GNC Superfood powder that had pretty much the same ingredients as shakeology in it for awhile. It was around 40 dollars but I got a deal once when they had several canisters marked down to 13.00 which is why I loaded up on it. It didn't taste very good though :) If I took all of those supplements that they have with Hammer and Chisel it would consume a lot of my calorie allotment and I would be putting away a lot of sodium. They have ridded themselves of the bad sugars though. Stevia and Beet sugar which I am not sure if they are talking sugar beets because that is really just plain sugar. Since white sugar is either beet or cane. Just saying.
 
Debbie, enjoy the recovery week. My Polar watch keeps reminding me I need a recovery week. I almost find it annoying :)
 
Today I did Cardio Coach #6 w/Candace. Had a pretty good workout. I skipped Challenge #3 because I don't care for it much, plus I wanted to have time to stretch out. I feel so much better when I make sure I stretch. I might do a yoga workout tomorrow but I'll see how I feel in the morning. I like waking on my treadmill to get my steps in. If I do yoga I'll miss out on like 3,000 steps.

Workout was 47 minutes, burned 307 calories, ran 3 miles and climbed 351 vertical feet.

Roselyn - The protein powder I use is called Juice +. I mix it with Almond Milk, frozen strawberries, pineapple chunks, spinach and a banana. Love it, it's so good.

Diane Sue - How does your Polar know when you need a rest week? That's funny.
 
Today I had the option of Chisel Endurance or Power Chisel from the deluxe set. I chose Power Chisel . It has some biceps and triceps in it. I don't think any of the workouts the next few days has any arm work in them. Since Power Chisel is only 30 minutes I did Les Mills Combat Ultimate Warrior 55 minutes as well. I have been in the mood for some kickboxing .

Debbie, I think the settings in my FT60 keeps up with my workout hours and days. Sometimes it will tell me my week is not complete ?? I really do want to argue back with it. I suppose I need to go in and figure adjustments. It also gives me weekly totals and will tell me if my fitness is improving which is most of the time which I would guess if I am working out it must be improving LOL I think I have seen Juice + at Sprouts.

Roselyn, I did go back and look and I did not see the beet sugar in Shakeology. It is in those new supplements that go along with Hammer and Chisel. Seriously though, when I was 10 and lived in England our landlord raised sugar beets. They were off white colored and reminded me of a potato. I tried to see if one of them tasted sweet LOL It didn't. Sugars that are from beets are generally cheaper than cane sugar like C&H.
