Hardcore Fitness Maniacs check-in for February 2018

My daughter and I took her children to the zoo today. We ate lunch that we took with us there and did lots of walking, I got in 12,000 steps already today. There are quite a few hills and somehow my Fit Bit shows 25 floors. I only had 3 when I left the house today.

Deb, there is more new things that they do for wrinkles but I am not sure how some of it works. My daughter and the other doctors do not care to do the botox and laser stuff that plastic surgeons do. It is a lot of skin cancer and skin issues that they deal with and they are very good at it. As, far as Botox, I won't spend money on it myself. It was offered free, to lure me to come back for more. They are coming out with a lot of other less invasive things, but I am not sure how they all work. Did you know they have used Botox for TMJ and it works? Honestly, I was not real impressed myself.

Jolie, that workout is rather fun and time goes by pretty quickly. We, have been cleaning out a lot of stuff. My husband has more of a collection than I do and is finally purging some stuff. I don't get rid of his stuff, I am sure he would notice at some point :)

Roselyn, I also meant to mention that Botox takes a couple of weeks to show some results. Also, you should look for a reputable doctor to do it and discuss some other alternatives. I would never go to an beauty clinic that does Botox or one of the places that offer to do it really cheap, because it can be a product that is near expiration. I have read up some on it.

Today I did a full body workout again and had a great one. Somehow when I was doing the warmup from XTrain, my Fitbit went to pause so by the time I realized it, I was done with the lifting. I was so bummed. Not sure how that happened but it happened 2 minutes into the warmup. Weird.

Incline Dumbbell Press: 30's/10 reps
One Arm Horizontal Row: 25#
Incline Front Raise on Ball: 8's/10 reps
W Curls: 15's/10 reps
Close Grip Dumbbell Press: 20's/10 reps
Plie Squats: 25#/10 reps
Repeated 2 more times so a total of 3 sets, no rest except a couple minutes between doing the rotation over again

Burn Sets:
Decline Pushups:
16 reps
Rows w/Band: 16 reps Green band
Rotator Cuff Pulls: Green band/16 reps+ (can't remember what this exercise is called)
Alternate Hammer Curls w/Twist: 12's/16 reps
Dips: 16 reps
Calf Raises: 25's/16 reps
1 circuit set through, just felt like adding this on.

Also walked on my treadmill for 1 mile.

Diane Sue - What is TMJ? I have no desire to do botox or anything else. Whatever the Lord sends my way is sort of ok with me. I do hate seeing the wrinkles, though.

Jolie - Glad you enjoyed your rest day. I have my CCW, I wish I could carry at my work.

Roselyn - Nice job on your workout!

Debbie, TMJ is temporomandibular joint. It is where the jaw connects to the skull and causes joint pain and headaches. I think the Botox kind of releases the joint tention in that area much. I have had some issues with my Blaze the last two days. It did not do sleep stages two nights ago and gave me a star for my sleep time goal. I rarely get to the 7 and a half hour goal. Maybe I should make it 6 and a half and I might get more stars. Mine stopped the other day.. I noticed it though and restarted. I lost 5 minutes, but I run Map My Fitness at the same time and it will still be picking up thecFit Bit stats.
The thing that bothers me is that there is a larger amount of young women going for all of these treatments, and also men, to try and stay young looking. I think it is a competitive thing. I keep trying to remind myself that I am not too bad at 65 and I earned my lines and wrinkles. It is all a vanity thing. And yes, we should be happy with what God gave us :)

Today was Full Body Workout Day 4 and had a kick butt workout!!! I started with STS warmup and did Power ! Strike warm up and punches only using my 1 lb gloves. Total calories burned was 177! What a great way to start a weight workout with that kind of calorie burn going into it. 4 rounds, 10 reps and no rest. I added a leg blast at the end which I really enjoyed and my legs were feeling it!

Incline Chest Flies- 17# x 10 reps ( 4 rounds of circuit )

Narrow Grip Palms inward Cable Pull downs- 70# x 10

Seated Overhead Press- 20# x 10

Preacher Curls- 15# x 10

Close Grip Chest Press- 20# x 10 ( I was surprised I could do this! )

Leg Curls- 20# x 10

Leg Blast after Circuit

Squat Clean and Press 1 Arm- 12# x 10, x 10, x 10

Leg Ext- 50# x 16, x 16

I skipped abs today because they are sore from 3 other workouts.

Debbie-
Good job on that workout! Next week I might add some back off sets, to failure or a burn set. Not sure but I am liking my workouts and my results. Now I have to get off the Margaritas and I would loose some serious water weight!!! I crave salt and it cools my jets to handle my boys in the evening. My youngest is super aggressive (he is very frustrated) towards me and some how one cocktail keeps me calm enough to deal with what he dishes out to me! My mom says "whatever gets you through the day"!

Diane Sue- I will check back in later to see what you did for workout, I hope you have a good one!

Roselyn, I talked to some friends and they say do it! They said to go to a true dermatologist instead of anything at a spa type facility. I hope you have a nice workout!

Have a nice day.

Today I did Kelly Coffey Cardio Pump workout #1, 30 minutes, heart rate average 147, max 176, 201 calories, 2,881 steps, met 6.1. I used 1# weights. I then did Kelly's Total Body Kickbox workout #1 , 30 minutes, heart rate average 140 average , 181 max, 2,821 steps, 198 calories, and used 1# gloves. I finished off with Sarah Beth Yoga on You Tube, 15 minute morning yoga, 33 calories. Total time was 75 minutes, calories 440. My Fit Bit was higher on calories today than my Map My Fitness App.

Jolie, you are coming up with some tough workouts.

My workout today was Fit Tower Advanced Boot Camp, 52 minutes, 304 calories, , followed by Fit Tower Advanced legs, glutes, and core, standing portion only (not a mix) 15 minutes, 58 calories. 67 minutes 362 calories total for both workouts, 1,951 steps. There are work sheets, but I did not use them. It seems funny that they are there as these two workouts use the firewalker loop and bands only. It has a space to write the height you use on the Fit Tower bar. I don't even use the bar on some of the moves.

Yesterday I did Lift It Hiit Live with legs
Had a memorial for an uncle who passed away and then celebrated my dad's brother's 90th birthday!!

Today I did Pump It Upper on cathe live good workout

No workout yesterday, I had a surprise visit from my parents so I just enjoyed the day with them.

Today I started week 3 of my full body workout. This week I will do 3 sets of each exercise, x 8 reps, go up in weight in each exercise and the 3 set is to failure. Then I finished with a couple of burnset exercises that I did for 1 minute. I was huffing and puffing during this workout and I feel great.

I started by warming up with Power Strike 6 warm up and punches only using 1# weighted gloves. I burned 163 calories.

Chest Press- 27# x 8, x 8, 10 TF ( I did this circuit 3 times around and finished with a TF set )

1 Arm Rows- 30# x 8, x 8, x 10 TF

Seated Overhead Press- 22# x 8, x 8, x 11 TF ( these were hard!!)

Standing Bicep Curls- 20# x 8, x 8, x 10 TF

Lying Triceps Ext- 17# x 8, x 8, x 10 TF

Leg Ext- 60# x 13, x 13, x 14 TF

Bicycle ABS- x 30, x 30, x 30

Workout was 56 minutes and I burned 410 calories. I will be sore tomorrow!

Roselyn
, Happy 90th birthday to your dad! My dad is turning 85 this May! Sorry to hear about the loss of your uncle. Great job getting your workouts in when life is hectic!

Diane Sue, nice workout yesterday. I like boot camp workouts, I might have to start those again. I like the variety. I looked in the mirror and look officially fat! My eating has not been good but I have been trying to cut down on cards as much as possible. I am going to meal prep, egg frittatas, turkey chili and some grilled chicken and veggies. You are so impressive with your meals, I want to get better with that part of my fitness journey. Its hard when you have two boys needing to gain 30 pounds and I could stand to loose 10!

Beautiful day here today, cool and sunny. Have a nice day.

Roselyn, I bet that birthday celebration was fun. 90 years is great :) Sorry about your uncle though.

Jolie, nice workout again. I have had a few to many homemade cookies and things with all of the baking. No cookies today, but a small pack of Wild Ophelia Cold Brew Chocolate Coffee bites, 70 % dark chocolate. I discovered them and love picking them up at times. I have been picking up some RX bars and Bullet proof collagen bars for snacks when I don't take the time to eat. I am loving my Whole 30 Fast and Easy Cookbook. I have a lot of Paleo and low carb soups in the freezer right now. I am going to put chicken in the slow cooker again and shred it for some recipes. I can freeze part of it and then make a dish. That expedites recipes that call for cooked chicken.

No workout today. It was family brunch after church this morning.

I got mine at Sprouts. They sell them on Amazon and they were having a sale for boxes of them with a discount on the bullet proof website. I did not see the short bread on Amazon though. They have a lemon cookie one and a brownie one. I love the short bread one.

Thanks for the link Diane Sue

So today I did something totally different well a different trainer, you tube Yvette Bachmann, wow!! I did her fat burning/core mashup pretty challenging check her out

Today starts week 2 of Total Body workouts again and had a great one today. It was tough, I can't believe how hard these workouts are. Nice job, Jolie, I'm really loving this!!!

Warmed up with Xtrain Chest, Back and Shoulders, love that warmup. This week I'm starting with Back and shuffling the body parts from last week, just to change it up a bit. No burn sets this week.

Chin-Ups w/Assist Bands: 12/10/9/10 reps (these are tough even with assist bands)
Arnold Press: 15's
Barbell Bench Press: 70#/65# 12 reps (70# for 1 set, 65# for 3 sets)
Dumbbell Deads into Squats:
20's/12 reps (These are an exercise Kelly does, OMG, these killed)
One Arm Kickbacks: 10#/12 reps
EZ Barbell Curls: 35#/12 reps (2 sets wide grip, 2 sets narrow grip)
Repeated 3 more times so a total of 4 sets, no rest except a couple minutes between doing the rotation over again.

This was a killer workout, my HR was really up there with this one.
Workout was 37 minutes, burned 250 calories. Avg HR was 131 and Max was 184 and it felt like it!

Walked on my treadmill for 1 miles, burned an additional 133 calories and went 2635 steps. Avg HR was 111 and Max was 179 - don't think that was right, not sure what happened.

Diane Sue - I never heard of Bullet Proof bars. I'll have to check those out. And what else is on the Total Body Kickbox workout you did? Is this a good DVD to purchase?

Jolie - Nice job with your workout, I love the to failure sets. So you did these in circuit format as well? I will do that next week, looks fun!

Roselyn - I will check her out, sounds interesting.

Debbie, nice workout today. Total Body Kickbox has two workouts. Both are kickboxing, but the second one uses weight with the kickboxing. This is one that I purchased recently . I didnt realize I had missed it a few years ago when I was in the process of moving. The Bullet aproof bars include collagen and mct oil. I love them. I keep looking at Kellys Raw powered by vimeo streaming. I would love to try it, if I were sure I wasnt going to have to spend timevfiguring out streaming or end up working out from my laptop or tablet. Also they dont use Pay Pal and I an really careful about using Ccards online. She has put in 19 workouts now which includes the first from youtube. I think there were 5 of them. Also she is putting the premixes from her workouts on there for those who purchased downloads and did not have them.

Today I did Kelly Coffey Total Body Kickbox #2 sculpt kickbox using 5# dumbbells (Kelly uses 3's and suggests 3 to 5#) , 30 minutes, heart rate 125 average, max 158, met 5.8, 1,745 steps. I then did Kelly's Athletic Conditioning volume 2, workout #1,36 minutes, 197 calories, heart rate average 128, max 145, 1,283 steps. even though this is weights it kept my calories the same for fit bit and map my fitness. I wanted to do some abs and a bit more stretch so I went to the 1 round +abs and stretch(omits the core and some stretches from workout 2) At 12 minutes in I started the abs and went through the stretch. This was 12 minutes, 42 calories, heart rate average 100, max 126. Total time was 78 minutes, 431 calories.

Today is Week #3 of my full body workout #2. I did same as yesterday 3 circuit rounds, 8 reps, but the last circuit I did each exercise to failure. This was a great workout, no rest except between circuits. I am amazed how fast I am going up in weight for each exercise. I did not do ABS because they are very sore from yesterdays workout. Workout was 42 minutes and I burned 181 calories. I warmed up to STS #13 disc. 98 average heart rate and 153 max. I did not do any explosive leg exercises so It was hard to get the heart rate up high. I used DB's for the entire workout.

Chest Flies- 20# x 8, x 8, x 12 TF ( 3 rounds of this circuit )

Wide Grip Pull Downs- 70# x 8, x 8, x 9 TF (these were difficult)

Leg Curls- 20# x 12, x 12, x 12 ( did not go up in weight these are hard isolation exercises )

I finished with High Reps DVD Lying Triceps Ext. using 8# DB's. I burned those darn Triceps out!

I could not get into working out. MY son told me this morning that one of his friends was driving home from a party and his the car in front of him. The driver killed his best friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am in shock and cant stop crying. Why do people drink and drive when there is UBER??? My son doesn't know the boy that was killed but loves the poor boy who was driving while drinking. He said he is the nicest, smart and funny guy who make the worst decision of his life. I have no words for either of those boys families. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around this right now...

Debbie,
good job on the full body workout today! I have to tell you, going to failure really burns the muscle good! I am going to switch it up every week. I have to add more cardio and legs in somehow because in a month I am taking my son skiing and I need to get my legs in shape!

Diane Sue, That kick box workout looks like a good one! I am stretching at the end of each of my workouts lately and it feels so good. I will look into those bars that you shared with us yesterday.

Roselyn, I will check out that trainer on YouTube, I love new workouts!

Have a nice day.

Jolie, that is terrible about the boy drunk driving and hitting the other boy. Those crazy decisions that will haunt for their whole lives and they have no clue when they get behind the wheel. To me there is not much good that comes from drinking, other than that it often makes people do and say things that they would not normally say or do. Also, even if a person is the so called responsible drinker, they may be swaying someone who is not responsible. It causes too many health issues imo. Well, I am not the one to make decisions for others and I am extremely sorry. My grandson lost a friend from church that was hit by a drunk driver. Also at Christmas time there were two young college students that came home for the holidays and they live where my youngest daughter lives and they were on their way home from speaking to a youth group when a drunk driver flew through a stop sign so fast that their car exploded into flames. It seems the drunk drivers always live. :( It really scares me for our young people.

Today had to have been one of the worst workouts I've ever had. OMG. I had no stamina for this run, my endurance sucked, my legs are extremely sore and my breathing was way off. I ended up stopping the workout about 35 minutes in and just walked the rest of it. Ridiculous. Not sure what the problem was. I tried to do the workout I custom made that was jogging and sprints. Oh well, I worked up a good sweat and still got good steps in.

Workout was 50 minutes, burned 380 calories (TM said 447), went. 3.35 miles, and did 7097 steps. Avg. HR was 129 and Max was 196.

Jolie - So sorry to hear about your son's friend, that is horrible. So sad that kids make that stupid choice. I don't know what the attractiveness is to drinking, I find it stupid and it makes people stupid. Anyways, so sorry to hear this.

Diane Sue - I might get that Total Body workout, sounds like fun. I love Kelly's workouts! Nice workout yesterday!!

Hope you all have better workouts than I did today!!!
