Hardcore Extreme DVD

Hello,
I am looking for a new Cathe dvd and wondered what people think of Hardcore Extreme? I enjoy circuit training a lot. The only dvd I have that is included in the work out is Low Max. All the others would be new. Thanks in advance!
Gloria

HCE has 3 workout options all about 70 min. in length.
#1 is an interval circuit w/o alternating between IMAX3 intervals and blast and HSC weights segments.
#2 is high/low intervals (all cardio) alternating between Low Max step combos/blasts and IMAX3 combos/blasts and ending with KM blast challenge.
#3 is an interval w/o focusing on legs as well. It uses IMAX3 and KM blast challenge and ending with KM leg conditioning drills.

If you like intense and challenging cardio, this one is for you.

HTH!

I don't think the choreography is that difficult to pick up. You already have Low Max, High Step Challenge is basic choreography, Kick Max is the blasts which are high intensity but basic choreography plus the leg conditioning drills. The toughest might be IMAX 3 but if you can do Low Max, IMAX 3 isn't that bad.

Well I think I'm sold. They sound like a lot of fun and I really need to do something different. Thanks again!:)

It would be considered both. Workout #1 is a circuit w/o (cardio and total body). #2 is all cardio and #3 is a circuit also with cardio and lower body. IMAX3 choreography is a little challenging for me, but it takes me a few tries to catch on.:p

Good luck!

I would also recommend Terminator - an oldie but goodie. Again, it's 3 70-minute workouts, a compendium of parts of other workouts. I like Terminator better than Hardcore Extreme because Terminator is more weight-focused. One of the workouts alternates fairly heavy lifting, with moderate cardio; one of them alternates lighter (but still serious) lifting with a combo of intervals and moderate cardio; and the third alternates lights weights with intervals, that one is a super cardio workout. I'm not as crazy about Hardcore Extreme because I don't really love the leg exercises or the intensity blasts from Kickbox Extreme, and they are found on 2 of those workouts I think.

Or HEY, you could just get both!}(

thanks so much! For some reason I didn't see that one when I clicked on DVD's on the top of this screen.
This may be a dumb question- but the steps on the cover of that dvd look like the "single stack" step. Will a normal step do or do I have to have a normal (two column) step and a single stack step? The more I read here (I am a beginner to this site) the more money I see myslef having to spend and I am not sure I can drop so much. :/

Hmmm. I know that the regular long step is used for almost all the cardio. I actually cannot remember how much the high step is used - I want to say not much if at all, but I could be wrong. I think it's used for sitting on during weight work, so you could maybe use a chair instead, and I think it's also used sometimes when she takes the top off (making it shorter) and uses that part for cardio, but in that case you can just use the end of your long step. Sorry, I wish I could remember the routines better. In the equipment list it does say that a high step (single step) is needed. You could check out the previews of the 3 workouts that it's made from (I think Muscle Endurance, IMAX 2 and Cardio and Weights) and see how much the high step is used.

Before I "invested" in the official-looking high step (I had to buy the little top and I think 1 more riser, because the 4 square risers on the regular long step are used to stack up the high step), I bought a 14 inch plastic stool from the hardware store for about $20 and that worked for almost all the exercises that I needed a high step for.

Personally, I find Hardcore Extreme to be choppy and not much fun.

The Terminator is much better compiled, in my opinion. I just love the IMAX Extreme in the Terminator.

irish196, I looked at my equipment list for Terminator last night - no high step required! The high step appears in a couple of the segments because it is used in a couple of the workouts that the segments are taken from, but it is just sitting off to the side - it is not used at all for the moves in the Terminator.

Whichever one you choose, enjoy!

i dont think that this dvd is a lot of fun. I find it challenging however. It definatly gives you a great work out. i am usually exhausted after dripping with sweat.:)

I actually love HCE. I'm not interested in buying Imax 3 or Kick Max on their own and this DVD gives me the the best parts of those two dvds--I love the Kick Max Blast challenge. It's awesome! Hardcore Extreme is great for those days when you just want a good, tough, sweatfest.

Does Hardcore Extreme have the full let of Leg Drills from Kick Max? I think I want KPC+Legs/Glutes rather than Kick Max, and Imax 3 would be far more than my uncoordinated body could handle, but maybe little bits in the Hardcore Extreme would be tolerable! It seems a nice combo, but want to be sure the full set of leg drills are included in the HC Extreme. I have Low Max and want High Step Challenge, but don't mind the duplicates in the HC Extreme since with Cardio Fusion, I the workouts seem totally different when put together in a new way. Thanks!
