GS or 4DS

I just ordered BG yesterday, but am seriously jonesin' for GS and 4DS. I've accepted the fact that in the next day or 2 I'm gonna cave and order one or the other. Which one? I've having a good time with Pyramids now, so I don't really NEED another split weight set, but GS looks sooooo good. (Do we ever REALLY NEED more Cathe's?:)) Seems like right now I'd get more miles out of 4DS. Plus, STS is eventually on the way, too. As much as I like lifting, my body needs cardio. I sit at a desk all day and get ants in my pants if I don't get enough cardio in. So I was thinking 4DS with days of cardio in between each disc. I get my weights, my extra cardio in on weight days, and still get my straight cardio days. With GS it would be every other day for cardio, and none on weight days. And due to length, I'd probably toss abs in on cardio days. I def need more ab work. I'm lazy when it comes to abs, I don't like doing it, but I so need to buckle down and make a serious effort at it. Was also thinking the heavier weights in 4DS would help w/ STS when it shows. But I really want them both, but both isn't in the budget right now. Which to buy? I can almost justify one out of this paycheck, and one out of the next, but DH needs a birthday present!:p

Even though GS is my favorite split series and did great things for me, I'd probably say you'd get more mileage out of 4DS. GS doesn't come with any core work and you have two great core workouts on 4DS. All of the weight work is great on 4DS plus you get four great cardio workouts. You should also consider whether the step is for you. If you like complex step, you'll like these workouts; if not, you should think about it because she doesn't do much breakdown in these workouts. Even if you don't like step though, kickboxing and boot camp are great and I love them for when you don't have time for an hour long workout but they are still very effective workouts. Also, the premixes are much better on 4DS. There aren't as many premixes on GS and they are very choppy and don't give you enough time to prepare your weights. With the premixes on 4DS, Cathe tells you exactly what's on the premix and what weights you'll need. There are 23 premixes on 4DS and only about 6 on GS. The premixes on GS are basically timesaver premixes. Since you really need your cardio, I think 4DS is really the way to go. HTH.

I think Marcy makes some excellent points for 4DS. I love 4ds!!! There is so much packed on those 2 dvds it's almost ridiculous ;) GSs are good, but if you have STS coming, I'd go for 4ds!!

I am a HUGE fan of the GS series, but Catherine makes some excellent points for 4DS. It really is the perfect workout set with anything and everything you could possibly need/want. If you preordered STS, I would go with 4DS right now. If you didn't order STS (yet ;)) well, then, we have a dilemma.....:p;)

I think Marcy gets it spot on. I love 4DS and think it's a great series. Sometimes I do it as is and recently, as I've been pushed for time I've just done some of the cardio on its own. The BC segment is great as a quick, thorough cardio session in just 30 mins or so.

I really love the GS series as well but if you're concerned about getting the cardio in then go with 4DS.

HTH!

By the way, I've been meaning to say for ages that I love your signature line, Nan. It cracks me up every time I see it!

I second what the others said: both GS and 4DS are great but since you want cardio, go for 4DS.

The one thing 4DS lacks is intense cardio so you may want to sub in a nice long cardio day a couple of times a week if you are doing a 6 day a week rotation. I like the weight work from both series. I guess it's really going to depend on what you think will fit your schedule and goals better right now. The beauty of 4DS is you technically get everything done in 4 days so on those weeks when you get busy and don't want or have the time to plan out a rotation, you just ahve to pop a 4DS in and go. I find the GS weight work a bit more challenging, esepcially the Chest and legs workouts.

I have to respectfully disagree with this statement. I think 4DS has some incredibly intense cardio work. Bootcamp and Kickbox are intense on their own, but do them back to back and you're gasping for air. I usually do two of the 4DS cardios back to back. Either HIS and LIS or BC/KB or mix up the cardios some other way. This series has some of Cathe's best cardio, IMHO. Fun moves, AWESOME music, and great calorie burners!

Thanks everybody! I am going to order 4DS next payday. Had a few things come up this week - life, ya know? - so it will have to wait til Friday. I know I'll eventually get GS as well, but I think for now I'll get the most for my $$ out of 4DS.

I agree Allison!! BC and KB can kick butt. And the beauty is that you can modify up or down with these very easily. So if you want intense you push yourself and you have it. If you need an easier day, you back off a bit. 4DS is absolutely my favorite series at the moment.

You will not regret it!! Now be sure to let us know how you like it ;)

I'd go with the 4DS. It gives you good short cardio and it does all the heavy weight work. It's just a more versatile set.

i have both & love them both but if I had to pick just one I would go with 4DS. It just has so much to offer. So many endless pre-mixes. You could really go carzy & buy both!!
