Growing Belly Mom's Check-In 9/6

Allison, I have lots of tingles in fingers, hands, wrists,.... Usually at night when sleeping. ;) YOU ARE ALMOST THERE!!!!!!!

Morning!
Allison-I too have had some tingling, numbness. Let us know how your appt goes. You well deserve to go before me! You have paid your dues. Maybe you'll be dialted big time today!
I serioulsy doubt I go early..but I am ready just in case.

Melanie-do you have a nap on tap for today?

I slept some last night so I am feeling pretty good this morning. Have a few errands to run today and hopefully some reading. Planning on LIS. bbl

Morning waves to everyone!

Good morning ladies!

Got my older boys on the bus, Jadon is peacefully watching PBS Kids. I plan on going to postoffice this AM, maybe to stop at coffee shop to have some girlie time for a bit.

All my "big" things to do are done for now. Maybe a couple loads of laundry, but other than that,...I plan on laying low & playing with Jadon today. :D

Susan, I"m sure I'll get a nap in. Even yesterday, I had two short cat naps & 2-3 rest throughout the day. It seems that I'm more sore after I lay down though. Does that happen to anyone else?

YEs, I had the same tingling my last pregnancy, around the last three weeks. It is carpal tunnel, mostly from water retention and it went away about 4 weeks after delivery. It was irritating. I hope that you feel better, and that that darn cervix dilates!!!! I never dialted on my own with Jimmy. I had to have pitocin.

Allison- I can't believe you are so close! Sorry about the tingling hands. I read that it is common to get carpal tunnal at the end of pregnancy. I figure I will get it also because I type alot at work. Way to go on the clothes for DD! I bet that was so much fun for her!

Melanie- I am the same way about getting stuff done and I don't like asking for help lifting and carrying things when I can do it myself. But I am learning to. Have a great mommy and Jadon day! You deserve it!

Christine- I can't imagine how hard this is on you guys. My DH is my best friend and rock and I couldn't imagine going through this without him. I really feel for you and wish so much that we lived closer so I could help out. I am sending you a great big hug! BTW, we have watched three classes of the video you sent me and it is very informative. DH wanted me to tell you that the lady is a weirdo. But he has learned alot! :) Thanks again! I will be sending the others back soon!

Susan- Yay for your cervix! I can't believe that there might be some babies joining us soon! How exciting! Keep us posted! (Which I'm sure you will) ;)

Priscilla- I'm sure you passed the glucose test! I still never heard about my results so I am assuming that they were fine or they would have sent me to the 3 hr one already.

Well my doctor's appt was changed from Friday to Monday but I still get my u/s on Friday morning so when I get to work I will post about it. I can't wait to see James again and how he is laying. I am constantly trying to figure out what is poking and prodding me. It will be fun to know. I am interested to see how big he is measuring also.

HI ladies

Quiet morning here at work today. Trying to read some more about due dates etc..

Christine, thanks for the suggestion. Benadryl helps me most of the times but I still wake up a couple of times, I just fall asleep a lot faster with it. I may try Unisom. It is heartbreaking to see the one you love crying, it's just as hard for him. I hope this time around you can be induced too so he gets to be by your side.

Susan, say what! maybe next week wow! A lady at church told me to count 275 days from the first day of LMP and that that will be my delivery day. I did and it falls on my DH's B-day exactly at 39 weeks. I'd love it!!

Allison, how sweet! your mother treating out your DD. I hope you get the news your waiting for during your appointment

Melanie, I just have a question.. maybe I misunderstood, are you gonna be working up to 30 weeks or they'll induce you at 30 weeks. I must've told my assistance (pregnant with fraternal twins) that you were going to be induced at 30 weeks and she is hoping for the same.

Hi everyone else!

Just got back from post office & coffee shop. It's so nice to chat with lots of women. It's a Christain bookstore/coffee shop & I just find it so inspirational! Now I"m ready for a nap! LOL

Precilla~ I'm hoping to be on "medical leave" at 30 weeks. I doubt I would even get it if I didn't work such long days on my feet w/ a 3 hour drive per shift. If my employer could accomodate shorter days or incorporate breaks I'd probably work longer. We are looking at checking babies lung development around 35 weeks, with a c/s shortly after we know the lungs are fully ready.

My platelets are low (63K) and anything lower than 50K necessitates a blood transfusion in pregnancy. I might have to go on steriods sooner than expected to help prevent a transfusion......sounds so scary!!

I ordered up bedding for the girls. I wasn't going to go with a theme....but by the time you order a valances and bed skirts,.....it's more economical to buy a set. I ordered from Walmart for under $80/set.

Hey ladies! Just a quick post! FIL made a gorgeous bassinet so here's the pic:
Jamesbassinet012-1.jpg

Will check in tomorrow for personals! Good night!

Wow. That's so nice. And the wood finish is gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing pics with the baby in it!

Haley has no fever but has I am keeping her home today. Shes all snotty and I dont want her getting all hot and sweaty at school today. So I won't be studying today..I need total silence to read! I"ll have to double up tomorrow.

I go to the dr at 2, so dh is coming home while I do that.

Waves to everyone
Dawn-any action yet?

Hi everyone,

I keep getting busy and falling behind in personals, but I'm back!

Today was the 37-week apt . . . and we're up a centimeter. Now we're at 2 centimeters and 80% effaced. And baby is still in launch position. :) With all my family far away, I again asked the doc about moving up the due date but no go. At the rate of 1 centimeter a week, she may wait the full 39 or 40 weeks after all!

I also did ask my doc for a note to work from home. The doc was very obliging, and I do feel relieved that I won't have to commute for the next few weeks. (Luckily, I have a job where I can work on the computer.)

Attached is a nursery photo. The room is pretty tight right now, but we'll be moving a bassinet out so hopefully that will help.

I'm feeling pretty good today. Even did the strength portion of Body Fusion this morning. I really only needed to skip a few exercises, and of course pushups were on my knees--and still tough!

Regarding the car seat discussion, I went and had my care seat installation checked for free (twice actually since I switched out car seats). I know it's a free service in all the states, and I do recommend it for the peace of mind. Otherwise, it's sometimes hard to figure out those things!

Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry I fell behind in individual personals again, but I hope everyone is feeling well, including the children, and first days of school went great!

Take care,
Dawn

Thanks, Melanie. I just looked at the pic again and felt embarassed at how crowded the room looks. Oh well, will have to work on that.

Melanie, sorry to hear about those platelets. Hang in there!

And Susan and Allison, looks like the three of us are almost there. Yippee! (I actually spent some time perusing the Cathe Web site today, dreaming about what workouts I'll be able to really do again soon :)--and no modifications needed).

My teeth are nice and clean. Now to get pre-reg at the hosipital. I dread doing that! I am a germaphobe!

Dawn-the nursery looks great!!! And 2cm..you go girl! I"ll probably be 1cm for weeks! I wasnt late with Haley, but I did wait until my due date.

Melanie-my good friend, who is due on Oct 16, has to start steriods today due to low platelets. She was aslo put on a special diet because the steriods raises glucose levels and hers were at the high normal level.

Just a quick note. I received a call from my dr and I failed the glucose test. My glucose level was 136 mg/dl so I had to pick up a lab order to get the 3 hr test completed next monday. I really hope everything is fine. My mother is diabetic and even though I have never been diagnosed as a diabetic, IM FREAKING OUT now...

Oh Priclla Im so sorry! I know you are worried but try not to stress over it. I failed both tests with Haley and all was fine. I bought a glucose meter for home to keep tabs on my blood sugar. Its very common in pregnancy and it doesnt mean you are diabetic! Hang in there.

I manged to walk for 30 min this morning before my nether region started to ache. And I have NOT eaten the best today. Not realllll bad but no fruit or veggies...just carbs. Cereal for b-fast, pbj for lunch and a Drumstick...the ice cream type!

I made it to the hospital and am all pre-registered. Tomorrow I have no errands so I will study all day!

Leftovers for dinner, so that is easy. Thats about all my excitment.

Priscilla, I'm sorry you have to take the 3 hour. I'd be freaked too. Hopefully there's a book you've been wanting to read; maybe that would help you relax while at the doc's. My OB is willing to let anything under 150 slide (in most cases anyway), so maybe yours is just really cautious. And I think you said you ate before you went in-- that might have had something to do with it. Good luck.

Dawn, love the purple in the nursery! Isn't it fun to see all the little things? :)

Susan, I don't remember going to the hospital to pre-reg last time. Was it just a pre-admission form that you had to fill out?

Thanks for the reassurances about the tingling/numbness. I didn't experience this last time. Christine, I hope mine goes away as yours did!

My 38 week appt was today. Boy's head is still down, but he's not down enough. Doc said the kid is still high and very posterior. DARN IT!! He thinks I'll go between 9/20 and 9/25 (which was my original due date). Sigh. On the bright side, I only have a few more things I have to do around here which means I'll have a good week to relax (well, as much as one can relax with an energetic 3 year old LOL).

Our nursery is almot done. DD and I were in there today, trying to finish up. Her big job was to point out spots in the rug so I could hit them with the OxiPod LOL (The nursery is one of the bedrooms, but we used that bedroom as the family room -- with 3 stepkids and DD, it had more spots than I realized). After Christmas, we will relocate the computer and printers to the downstairs, but I didnt' feel like dealing with that yet -- so the room is almost all his ;)

Precilla~ most women who fail the 1 hour test pass the 3 hour test. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it at all. IF you show that you're positive, it's really not that big of a deal either....you'll see a dietician who goes over what types of foods are high in carbs and will have to test your sugars a couple times a day. The only clincher is women who have gestational diabetes are more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes later on in life.

Allison, I"m glad your doctor appt went well......sound like your peanut is pretty comfy in there. ;)

Wavest to all!

Priscilla- I am sorry you failed the glucose test and have to take the 3 hr one. I wonder if it was because you ate something beforehand because your number doesn't seem that high.

Dawn- I love love love the bedding set! Purple is my favorite color! Thanks for sharing the pic! Yay for 2 cm!

Susan- I am hoping to pre register soon too just get it over with. I hear it is so much easier to get it done and out of the way. Hooray for the the Drumstick! No ice cream for me tonight, DH is working and it has become our "date night." :)

Allison- I'm glad you have a few more weeks to get things done. I am so excited for you and Dawn and Susan! Melanie and I will be following close behind!

A nice moment I wanted to share....One of the mother's on my case from last week told me today that I am "just a ray of sunshine" and her 15 year old son said "I know, I told you she was cool!" They were just the neatest mother/son combo and overall a great family which is a breath of fresh air in my job. It just made my day and it makes my job worth it and makes it easier to forget my boss for giving me all her troubles that she does.

Have a good night!

Thank you all for your support.

Allison and Jen, you might be right. I did eat something at 4:30 am that day, I feel dumb now but I remember asking my dr if I needed to fast and she said "not neccesarily" I didn't feel that the number was too high either but I guess they want to be on the safe side. This time around I'm fasting all the way!

Allison, just matter of days for you! I am so looking forward to see baby pics soon!

Susan, your comment made me feel more confident. I asked my sister and she had the same problem and finally passed the 3 hr test

Melanie, I need to explain that to my assistance because she has said a couple of times, Oh God I hope my dr let me have these kids at 30 weeks like your friend from the pregnancy forum. I better clarify that.

Jen, what a sweet comment. I love when people compliment my job as well. It's very rewarding!

Good night everyone

Precilla~
The first glucose screening test isn't supposed to be "fasting" so you did nothing wrong. The second test is fasting; and hopefully will be negative.

Yes, please let your assistant know that 30 weeks is not "ideal" delivery time. The studies I have read have suggested that 36-38 weeks may be the best time to deliver twins opposed to 38-41 weeks for singletons. After 38 weeks, twins can actually do worse, as the placenta no longer can carry the nutrients babies need.
