Got my new TKO heavy bag and had to post pics!

Hubby and I put it up yesterday in my exercise room and I can't wait to get the Rival gloves he ordered for me so I can "hit it"! This is our Christmas gift to one another. (plus our 17 year old daughter is going to use it too!) Check out my "Cathe" calendar on my wall! ;)

very nice workout space!

my living room is also my workout space so if i do a boxing bag it would have to be a standing one which are harder to get in this area new or used.

now don't go kicking it through the wall when you try shock cardio the first time LOL.

Too funny about kicking it through the wall! Really, it is about 4 feet from the wall and the bag is 100 lbs. (barely moves when you hit it) I can't wait to try it! I have Amy Bento's Rumble and she uses the heavy bag so when I get my gloves that will be the 1st workout I try. I really like my "sanctuary"---hubby made this for me when we first moved into the home. He actually put the wall in himself, separating the great room into 2 rooms, thus giving me a good size workout room, complete with a door and everything. He then painted it in one of my favorite colors, using a light lavendar, which I find relaxing and pretty--very welcoming. He's a keeper! :D

Wow, you are so lucky...

love your workout space! That's on my dream room wish list (already got my other one which was a HUGE walk in closet!).

I have to work out in our large sun porch (which in one aspect I like cuz I feel like I'm outside), but it's also somewhat of a communal area and a kinda odd space. It would be sooo nice to be able to keep my stuff out & handy and not have to make sure everything is put away/stashed nicely, etc. Also, have some privacy. Equipment is still out in the open somewhat for all visitors to see...don't think I have space for one more thing...boo hoo, no punching bag for now.

Denise, I'm so jealous! Our house barely has room for us, our two beagles, cat and all our stuff, much less a workout space! I make do in my living room also! There's nowhere I could even try to put a bag! LOL! I can't wait for my next house!

Very nice Denise! Weren't you looking at a bag with pink in it? Seems like you posted a link to one like that :). Guess your DH didn't want it, huh? My plan is to also get a hanging bag (probably a 60-70#) bag, too, since it could go in my garage(I don't have enough room for a bag in my workout/office area). Glad your whole family can take advantage of this new toy!

Nice workout room!

Oh me too. I am sooooo jealous. How cool would that be. I have to work out in my living room too on a 5 x 8 rug, . . and I have to drag all my exercise equipment in and out of the closet and various place. That room is soooo fabulous!

Thanks everyone! And yep, I was looking at the freestanding bag with pink in it but hubby and I decided this would be sturdier and as you can see, my husband is really talented when it comes to hanging things, etc. (Plus the man can cook and bake!! Did I say I'm a lucky woman?!? :D)

I would say so!!! :)

Mine is a tech geek and financial whiz, but forget any construction, cooking, or baking!

So, I reiterate - you are a VERY lucky woman and don't you forget it! ;)

I have to ask, did you install the wood floors? Where did you get it from if so? It looks great! I have carpet in mine and wish I had wood. It would be much easier on the knees!

Actually I wanted "real wood" flooring but it was a little too out of my budget so we opted for wood linoleum flooring and we placed them over the little mats (you can see several at the end of the flooring in multi colors). The mats were placed on top of my carpet for extra padding on my floor when I first got my room and we only recently put the wood flooring in (about 6-8 months ago). I really like it!

Hi Denise,

Love the workout room! Question - Is the hardwood floor permanent? I'm looking to replace my workout flooring that consists of very old puzzle mats and would love wood flooring on top of my carpet.

We made it permanent and laid them on top of the puzzle mats which lay on top of the carpeting. We glued the wood onto the mats to keep it from moving around. However, if we wanted to take it apart, it wouldn't be hard. Thanks--I really like my "little piece of tranquility ;)"

Forgive me for being dense..... Are you saying that the wood flooring is actually linoleum tiles glued onto the puzzle mats?

Real wood was too expensive so we went to Sam's club and purchased a boxed set of the inexpensive stuff. It is not "tiles".

Got my gloves and finally tried the bag today for 1st time

I loved it! Oh my gosh, it was so much fun! I kept saying (in between all the grunting and groaning, lol) "Merry Christmas to Me"! I did the bag section of Amy Bento's Rumble and it worked fine. I can't wait to try Cathe's bonus bag section! I think I'm going to like going in there and just making up my own combo's too! ;)
Once I got going, the thing I enjoyed the most was hearing the constant "pound" of my glove hitting the bag--loved that sound! :D

I can't wait for Tiffany, my daughter, to try it again!!

Denise,
who wishes Shock Cardio would hurry up and ship!!

Denise - I am trying to convince my DH that a heavy bag (even a freestanding one) would be a FAMILY Christmas present and shouldn't count against my quota. I am going to print out your post and show it to him :)!!

Denise,

That looks fabulous!!!!! We are most likely getting a heavy bag as well - probably going into our basement, which isn't nearly as pretty as your workout space. :) I didn't know about Amy's Rumble - I'll have to check that out. There will be NO additional room outside of a small area around the bag, so anything other than bag work will be out, but I'm hoping that I can find a workout or two that will give me ideas of what to eventually do on my own.

Thanks for posting pics and an update! I'm getting really excited about getting one for ourselves now. Our 7 year old daughter is the one who is asking for it, actually!
