Good Luck, Connie. I know you'll do well! I just had my first one-on-one training session with a middle-aged woman who wants to start weight training. I was so nervous, but it went great! Now I know it will get easier form here on for both of us! Please post and tell us all about it.

Whoa, you guys are so great!

It went very well! I did kick some booty (mostly my own) and of course, it wasn't perfect! But it went pretty well!

The participants are all really nice, and that sure helped! The sound system was the hardest part of it. After the class a participant came up to me and told me she couldn't hear me, otherwise she would have followed much better. Well, she and the class followed quite well! So even without hearing me (the acoustics are awful!) they will learn the moves!

Changing the mike position will improve the next class. I did get lost in my own choreo once or twice, then grabbed an index card (I brought them but didn't use them till I needed it, color coded the finished product, thank God I did that!) and, um, finished them off with some great Cathe-style moves!

The choreo included scissors repeaters, up-back up-back basic (as in MIC and All-Step), and power squats as in Cardio and weights in sets of three. Can't wait for the next one!!

I will prob. be put on the sub list soon, maybe by January, then it's possible I'll get my own class by Feb. or so.

Nervewracking, but I filled the whole hour (we did abs at the end) and survived! Whoo!! The sweat was pouring down (me) so I got a workout too!!

Thanks, every one of you, for your encouragement- it really means a lot!

Fondly, Connie

Congratulations Connie, that must have felt great when you were finished!!! Wish I could have been there cheering you on!

YEAH CONNIE!! I knew you'd do well!! Great job!!

That's great Connie! I KNEW you'd do well! It IS very nerve-wracking to do a first time class especially if you don't know the students. Heck, after all these years of teaching, I still get a lil' jittery my first class of every session. My worry is "Will they like the routines?" After each first class, it is smooth sailing. The more you do it, the more fun you will have. Thanks for sharing with us. I knew you'd be a great success. Woo-Hooo! :7

Hey Connie, I'm soo happy for you that you are doing what you love to do!Keep up the great work and have fun doing it!We are all soo PROUD of you!
PS not sure of your acoustics problem but I have to use a sweatband for my head to secure the headset better so it's not all over the place and the class can hear me!

Francine,
That is exactly it. The mike must be right up against your mouth or your words aren't distinguishable.

I have some nice tight sweatbands. Next time I'll be sure to bring one!

Still on Cloud 9, Connie

We are on cloud nine with you girlfriend, what a rush!!!!

The sweatband will allow you to feel more comfortable moving around and your mic won't shift as much allowing you to perform naturally and focusing on what has to be done--rather than toying with it!
No need for any distractions, when work needs to be done right}(
