Getting Our Licks In!

Came back home yesterday! Too Cold! Glad we did because now we are watching the parade celebration of the Seahawks. Amazing! I sure did watch an unbelievable game and the first one too in my life. Am a 12th man now and will be watching them from now on. Kinda sorry I haven't done this before. Walked the beach with Rolly for almost an hour. Again way to cold. Not that enjoyable.

Kathy Sis, Great job on Tabatacize #1 and burn sets & core #1 premix. Wow, good for you. I wasn't bored and from now on I will be watching the Sea Hawks. Can't believe I didn't do this sooner. I did finally receive the flash cards, and trying hard to memorize the notes and where they go on the piano. Haven't yet done much on the guitar except learning what is what. LOL

Kathy Sis, Do stay safe, cozy and warm during these snow storms. Great job on X10 Step and Burn Sets back and biceps. Awww so sorry your arm is still hurting. Those injuries take a long time to heal.

Michelle, Great job on 30/30 and STS disc 15, back and biceps. Hope the paper will get done soon.

Kathy Sis, Great job doing your own leg workout using the squat rack. Wow impressive weight you are using. Also for doing Bulgarian split lunges and then floor work from Great Glutes. I can see how you would be sick of snow. Stay safe.

Cindy, Great job on P90X03, CleanMax on Sat. and Turbo barre on Sun. And also Isometric. Be careful and safe with that snow.

Cindy, Great job on Dynamix and for this mornings PilatesX. O MY! Thank God you were there for that poor woman. I once had an experience like that. Very disturbing especially when you don't know what happen to them once the ambulance picked them up. Some people should take a class on bed side manners. Mandatory if you ask m

Take care everyone,

Janie

Greetings my friends!

I crushed another week of P90x. DOMs all the time, and I can see the light at the end of this tunnel. I am really looking forward to being done with P90x. I can honestly say it is not my favorite workout series. I committed to it for 90 days and that's going to be it. I may do STS, which is my favorite 90 day workout series. I also have Les Mills Combat that I would like to try. It is a 60 day rotation. Time will tell. I'm really missing Cathe. Speaking of Cathe, I did Circuit Blast tonight for the first time in over 3 years. (since my ACL/MCL injury) and I killed it! Yeah, baby! I felt like it was a true test to how far I've come and how strong my knee is now. Feeling great!

Janie, how's that guitar coming? Hope you are enjoying it.

Feeling for Cindy and Kathy. Cold and snow...enough already! Right? I can't wait for Spring and I live in central Virginia. I can only imagine how you all feel.

Time for bed...ttyl

Renee

Gosh the days can slip on by so fast! OMG the Superbowl......:(:eek: WTF?? How upsetting for us in Colorado and totally embarrassing...I just don't even know what to say other than who ever said it in the thread was totally right, it was hard to even watch...

Saturday was a rest day

Sunday I did the Hi/Low section of MIC which I have to admit wasn't to bad...I usually don't like Hi/Low but this one was the first one that I didn't mind to much.

Monday I did 45 minute on the reformer

Tuesday my abs were really sore from my Pilates workout! I taught Pilates Beginner Mat and a cardio & weights class. The class is older and there are several knee issues in the class so I have been taking them out on the cardio machines for some HIIT like workouts. I don't actually get to do the cardio portion as I just time their sprints and guide their workouts.

Today my abs were super super sore! I did the original Body Max for the first time and I absolutely loved it. I thought it was a super workout. I hope she does another one some day. I have always loved Body Max 2 even though I haven't done it in for ever. It is harder to fit the longer workouts in...

Renee you are actually making me want to do P90X again. They are good workouts even though Tony isn't Cathe and it is good to do something different everyone and awhile.

Janey: I bet Seattle is beside itself with joy. They played an amazing game. They stomped Denver into the ground

Cindy: the cold has made it down here too. It will feel like -20 in Denver tonight with the windchill. It didn't get above 1 all day. How do you like the Pilates on P90X3? Glad you are back on your game it is a good feeling!

Kathy; sounds like you are doing great with your workouts! Stay positive about your commitment and your dedication. Injuries are hard but you have not thrown in the towel or stopped working out. You have kept at it and you should feel really good about that. It has been a tough winter and the ground hog has predicted six more weeks! hang in there

Caitlin I like Rock out Knock out a lot. I think you will enjoy it

Michelle I think the STS HIIT workouts are really tough! I love the pyramid one. I used to do that one a lot when I went to Atlanta because it doesn't require equipment. It would be a good one for you to take on your business trips! Glad you and your sister are both going to another road trip!

-32 at my house this morning! The kids thought it was odd I was wrapping my scarf around my face and head before leaving, I'm sure they figured it out as they ran from the van to the school at drop off! I did Accelerator last night with Dave and then got up this morning and did YogaX. Tonight will be AgilityX and tomorrow morning no early wake up for exercise so that will be nice.

Janie - Glad you enjoyed the game and got to watch the parade. I hope it warms up for you so you can enjoy your walks.

Renee - I can't do 90 days of P90X, it wears on me toward the end. I'm doing the P90X3 in a condense 7 week option, that way I can get some Cathe in sooner :) Awesome work on Circuit Blast!

Laura - I don't mind the PilatesX, some moves are classic and some are new for me and a bit hard. The side planks he has you do get tough especially when he wants one leg in the air - not too good at that yet! I do enjoy it for a morning workout.

2-6-14

Yesterday I did Rapid Fire4 kickboxing & abs premix + Burn Sets triceps. I had to do shovel max too yesterday. There was sleet/rain coming down while I was shoveling. Such a heavy snow. Today the sun is out & in the 30's. I didn't go into work yesterday. Too treacherous on the roads. Tonight I'll only do X10 low impact.

Janie Sis: Sorry it was too cold in Oregon Coast but glad your posting. I missed you. It must've been some celebration for the Seahawks. Now you can understand everyone's excitement over the Super Bowl. What did you think of the half time show?

Cindy: I can only imagine what -32 feels like. We're getting more snow on Sunday but its snow showers & not the huge storm that the weatherman was first anticipating. Your doing great w/your workouts. I caught the ab workout on youtube & boy is that one hard. ^^^^^5's to you for doing P90X3. I truly hope that Lucas doesn't have an ear infection. Amoxicillin never worked either on my DS. Is he better now? How scary for that woman that fell. Sounds like a concussion to me. I hope she's all right.

Laura: We won't even go there re the Broncos. Your doing great too w/all of your workouts. Thx for your words of encouragement. I try to just do my best like you. You must be loving all of your classes that you teach.

Renee: Your crushing it w/P90X. Your one strong woman. Your making me too want to do a P90X rotation. I happen to have Les Mills too but only the cardio ones. Their awesome!

Take care everyone!
Kathy

I did the cardio premix on Body Max 2. It starts off with 2 rounds of the completed step routine all put together with no break down so it took me a bit to find my feet but I did all right. I have always liked this DVD but haven't done it that many times because of the huge time commitment. I often forget about Premixes!! SO MANY OPTIONS with all those premixes!!

Still cold here too it only warmed up to 6 today, but should be in the 50's this weekend....

Cindy side planks are hard for me too, I have one good side and one bad side. My shoulder and arm just beginning shaking!! I think my shoulder's stabilizer muscles don't fire on that side.

Kathy YUP we just keep on keeping on!!! It's the only way to do it, right???

I think I have not posted in a few days. Been very busy at work and at home, working. It's what I do now. Tuesday was Slide and Glide cardio only; yesterday was a break day but I did one of my new Shiva Rea 20 minute daily energy yoga practices. Today was STS disc 16, chest, shoulders, and triceps. Not sure what cardio I will do tomorrow. I spoke with a golden retriever breeder today. She is in Richmond. We are on her "waiting list" for a puppy. She has a female that she just bred but they do not know if she is actually expecting puppies yet. She hopes to know in the next week. She has 18 golden retrievers ranging in age from 6 months to 14 years old. That's alot of goldens. Anyway, she is just outside Richmond, VA and I asked if I could come down to meet her and see her dogs and she said yes. So, maybe in the next few weeks, we will make a trip down to Richmond to see some golden retrievers.

Cindy and Laura: whew, way too cold out there in Colorado and Montana. Better do some more workouts to stay warm. I am a personal fan of side planks. They are hard but they sure do work.

Janie: tis the season for being too cold. But before we know it springtime will be here. I keep thinking it will be March when I'm doing meso 3. Good stuff.

Hey don't forget: Westminster Kennel Club dog show is next Tuesday and Wednesday!
Michelle

We did nothing today except watch TV and play on the computer. I cleaned a little but that was all. So cold 24 degrees outside, even when the house is 70 degrees it's still chilly. Brrrrrrrrrrr! Got my little electric blanket out and watched movies with my Joey.

I was answering the last post and all of a sudden we lost power. I lost everything I had written. It's getting to late to duplicate what I said so please forgive for not doing it again.

Read everyone's posts and have to tell you how proud I am of you for working so hard on your exercises.

Take care, stay safe, warm, and cozy.

Janie

2-7-14

Just a rest day for me today. If I feel up to it tonight I'll do X10 low impact but I'm not sure about that. We're expecting snow showers Sat. & Sun. What else? Ha!

Janie Sis: So nice to cuddle up & enjoy a movie all toasty & warm w/DH.

Michelle: I always liked the Slide & Glide dvd. Glad you found a breeder. I hope the retriever is pregnant. I've been extremely busy at work too.

Laura: I too never find 1 1/2 hrs. to do Body Max 2. I keep forgetting to look at the premixes. Its difficult knowing all the combos b/c we haven't done in so long. Glad you got through it. Your temperatures are just as crazy as ours here in NY. Enjoy your weekend w/those temps.

Take care,
Kathy

Walked with Joey and Rolly on the beach today for about 30 min. SO COLD! Also learning the notes e, f, g, c, d on the guitar and two others I need to know better because already forgot them. Would continue with the guitar after an hour but my fingers wouldn't allow me to. How long does it take to get a callus on the fingers! OUCH! LOL Will keep going no matter what tomorrow. My guitar and keyboard haven't met yet. Can't wait for them to LOL. Will be going back to Shelton soon, next week sometime. Then, if there is no storm brewing, will go to see my Dad on his 90th.

Kathy Sis, Good going on your rest day. Enjoy. Stay warm and safe.

Janie

I did AgilityX last night and my body felt weak, I was happy to sleep in an extra 30 min this morning. Tonight I'll do the Warrior workout and tomorrow I'm going to do a quick high intensity Cathe workout, not sure which yet.

We have no plans for the weekend but the weather is supposed to get above zero (they've promised that the past two days and it hasn't happened so I won't hold my breath) and if so I want to take the kids sledding. Otherwise I'll do some cleaning and baking.

Janie - I have no idea how long it takes to get the callouses built up but ouch in the mean time! 90 years is awesome! I hope you can make it to celebrate :)

Kathy - Great job on the workouts! -30's are cold and you cover everything you can when out - I've been speed walking a lot lately :) It's hard to know when Lucas has an ear infection because he doesn't show us signs, he seems to be doing OK now - if only he'd sleep all night for us.

Laura - I've been finding a lot of differences with my sides with these workouts in the Yoga and Pilates sections - I figure if it's a struggle I'm doing some good work.

Michelle - That's so exciting about the dog, fingers crossed she's pregnant! It's amazing how the house will feel cold before a workout and then feel warm after, this is the first time I've been working out in long sleeves because you can just feel the cold outside.

Cindy

Today I did 4DS HIS cardio premix. Only 30 minutes but a great cardio workout. Got my hair cut and trimmed--just trimmed because last time I had my stylist cut it a little too short, so now I'm trying to let my hair grow out a little. Then I went to Dick's Sporting Goods and got some new workout clothes. Nothing black--only bright colors. I've really been missing my sweet pup today. Tends to happen to me at the end of the week. I get tired and emotional. Ripken was such a source of peace, calm and comfort for me, especially after a long work week.

Cindy: I slept in today too. Felt so good to get some extra sleep. You know it's cold when you are looking forward to the temperature getting above zero. What do the kids think of the sub-zero weather? Exercise and baking sounds like a good plan to me.

Kathy: we are expecting snow showers here too. The weather folks keep adjusting the forecast: snow, no snow, snow, no snow. I think right now it is for about an inch of snow. I can deal with an inch. It will be gone by Monday. Love those X10 workouts. I've got to check if there is a premix with just the cardio parts. That would be a food cardio while I'm doing STS.

Janie: don't know how long it will take you to "condition" your fingers for playing the guitar. Probably a few weeks. Sister might have better insights on that question. Looks like ya'll are getting some unseasonably cold weather in Washington State. Just keep thinking each day, we are one day closer to Spring. Give that sweet pup Rolly a kiss for me.

Hi to sister and Laura.
Michelle

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is staying warm! It got up to the low 40's today and man did that feel hot! Funny what perspective does with your sense of temperature!

Today I did some Pilates reformer, just a nice overall easy routine and I did Power Hour for the first time. It was a good workout. I am never a fan of the endurance style lift as I am more built for power but it is probably what my body needs the most. I do good at first and the weights feel nice and light but half way through the rep's I just hit a wall and the last half of the lift just bites!:eek:

Michelle: oh puppies and puppy breath are the best! I am sorry you miss your dear Ripken, he was a dog among dogs! I thought you had a very funny Freudian slip in your post.."that would be a food cardio while I am doing STS" hee her!!

Cindy: in Power Hour Cathe says that some days you feel stronger or weaker and then goes on to talk about her son keeping her up all night crying and how tired she is the next day. It was a real sweet and real moment that was very endearing! Yes it is amazing how different we can be on one side compared to the other! I tell my clients all the time that I have my Nicole Kidman side, which is long, elegant and gracefully and my Danny Deveto side which is short, funny and twisted!!!

Janey I bet those hands of yours are getting a good workout with all the finger work between the guitar strings and piano keys! Seems like you might prefer the guitar? Is that the case?

Kathy: hmmmm more snow!? Maybe you should break out Body Max2 on a snow day! I like the X10's they are the opposite of Body Max! Short but serious!

STS disc 17, legs, today. One more STS workout and I'll be halfway through the program. Boy, time sure does go by fast. We were supposed to get snow today; didn't happen. Quiet day at home, getting some housework done and starting to work on taxes. Fun stuff. Also watching the Olympics from time to time. Might put my coat on in a little bit and take a walk around the Circle, see what is going on in the neighborhood.

Laura: yup, sounds like you had the classic powerhour experience. That is not an easy workout. And the ab work at the end is pretty good too. 40 degree weather feels good around here too. Temps in the 40s is about our normal for this time of year; haven't had much "normal" temps. I don't think anyone has.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
Michelle

I did the Cardio Premix on Drill Max which is 39 minutes of serious intensity!
I am still conscious of a lot of negative banter in my head, working on changing that around...

Michelle its warm here again but supposed to get some snow tonight! Might try and take some turns with DD, Sophia, while her sister is at her Basketball game! Congrats on the half way mark of another STS round! We should get STS badges of something!

Greetings and Salutations!

Sore from Chest and Back, but I crushed it. Crushed Plyometrics too. Less than 3 weeks to go with P90x. Then it will be Cathe for a while before I tackle Les Mills Combat. Toying with doing STS too. So many workouts, not enough time in the day to do them all.

Cindy, I don't know how you do it. Living in Montana and dealing with the sub-zero weather. I've never been to Montana but pictures and film of that state are gorgeous. I'm not a fan of super cold temps but I'm not crazy about heat and humidity. I lived in Florida for a year and hated it. I definitely love Virginia. It has all 4 seasons, beaches and mountains (hills in your part). It gets humid and hot but not for long periods. Winters aren't that bad. It's home to me, and I love it.

Hmm, callouses on fingers. Depends on how soft your fingers are, Janie, and how long you practice. The piano is definitely kinder to the hands/fingers.

Laura, negative self talk...well, stop it! You are already ahead of the game if you are exercising. Do your best and forget the rest. No sense in comparing yourself to others or where you once were. It's the here and now that matters. You CAN do it.

Somebody mentioned Rockout Knockout...I love that workout. Good music and a lot of fun.

Stay warm and keep getting your licks in!

Renee

Party Rocking Step workout # 1 today. Love, love, love this step workout. So, I sent our application to the golden retriever breeder outside of Richmond, VA yesterday. Got a prompt reply that she had received it but unfortunately they just found out that the breeding for Seiko did not take and she is not expecting puppies. They will try again when she goes into heat May/June timeframe. Plus, she expects to have another female in heat about the same time, so she'll be trying for two litters. If the breeding takes, those puppies would be ready to go to new homes in the fall and I think that would be much better for us. In the meantime, I intend to go visit this breeder sometime in the next month to see her 18 golden retrievers, ranging in age from 6 months to 14 years old--YIKES! That's alot of goldens, for sure.

Laura: Drill Max as a premix or in its entirety is tough, tough, tough. Laura, you are still being too hard on yourself with the negative thinking--all that matters is that you are exercising, getting stronger, and moving forward. What is behind you is behind you. No good comes from dwelling on would of, could of, should of....unless you use that reflection for the positive which maybe you are not, so mentally drop that stuff in a garbage can and throw it OUT. Basketball, violin, ballet--boy you're girls sure do have quite a mix of activities.

Hey to sister--who I talked to on the phone and instant messaged today and hi to Cindy and Laura. Don't forget, Westminster dog show is tomorrow and Tuesday night.

Michelle

well another new workout for me and I LOVED it!! I did Maximum Intensity Strength and it was a great routine! I am so happy that I am going through all my Cathe DVD's and doing every workout cause there are so many ones that I haven't done, especially the older DVD's with 3 different workouts on them, I would just do one and not the others, it's weird but I think if they had their own cases I would have done them before, but I just got stuck on the one workout I bought it for.

Yes I know I am working on my negative self chatter, every time I catch myself saying something bad to myself or about myself I just immediately counter it with a positive thought. I had no idea how hard I was on myself!!!! Goodness!

Great job crushing your workout Renee! Now Les Mills I am definitely intrigued by which workouts do you have? have you done them before? You should definitely do them and let me know what you think. I bought insanity a long time ago but I have never done it.... I am playing with the idea of a Insanity/P90X 60 day rotation after I am done going through all my Cathe DVD's maybe I will do that before I do another round of STS.

Michelle I saw a commercial for the dog show which was very well done! I think fall would be a perfect time to get a pup. Last night I was going through some old files Bo had brought down and I came across journal entry about my best dog ever passing while I was in college. I tear up even now thinking about him, he was my Ripken and there has never been another dog that compares...:(

2-10-14

I'm thoroughly sick of snow!!!! 3" I woke up to. Had to shovel as you can't use the snowblower. More snow & rain mix expected on Thurday. When will it end!!!!

Saturday I did X10 hi-lo + Burn Sets chest & Core #1 premix. Sunday was Rapid Fire #4 boxing & abs premix + Burn Sets back. Tonight will be STS M2Wk1 Disc #14 Legs + adding on my squats using a 55# bb placed on my squat rack.

Michelle: Sorry to hear that the golden retriever wasn't pregnant. Fall does sound better for bringing a puppy home. I know its been hard for you getting over Ripken. I used to have a Rottweiler (Blitz) which was my first baby. We still have his picture in our den. His ashes are up in our bedroom. The breeder must have quite some land in order to have 18 retrievers!!!! Yikes is right. I still haven't mastered PRS #1 combos 5 & 6. I'll try to master it this week. Good job on your workout.

Laura: Your doing so well w/all of your workouts. Power Hour is not an easy workout by any means. I haven't done PH in a long time. I have this workout on VHS! :O I doubt it would play. It must feel soooo good to do a Pilates workout on the reformer. I miss it. And kudos for completing MIS too. What a tough, hard workout that one is. This is another one that I have on VHS. And you also tried Drill Max. I love DM. I've always done the cardio only premix.

Renee: You truly are crushing it w/P90X. And to think you'll be finished in a couple of weeks. Wow! Have you seen results?

Cindy: I guess I shouldn't complain about the temperature here in NY. Sub-zero is awful! Did you take the kids sledding? Your crushing it too w/P90X3.

Janie Sis: My DH has calluses on most of his fingers. It takes a long time before you'll get calluses. Just have fun w/the guitar & piano. It sounds as if your enjoying the guitar more than the piano. Is that right?

Stay warm everyone!
Kathy

STS disc 18 this morning. The back work is definitely getting tougher as the weight amounts go up.

Kathy: 3 more inches of snow--yuck. I feel for you. And of course, no New Yorker is going to let 3 inches of snow get in their way. Well, you got an early workout with the shoveling this morning. We might get some snow Wednesday into Thursday but the weatherman is doing the snow dance right now: maybe we will; maybe we won't. I'm hoping for the "won't" get snow. The breeder is out in the countryside although that side of Richmond has gotten more populated during the last 10 years or so. I'm thinking a drive down in March would be nice but I'll need to coordinate with the breeder since she shows the dogs in conformation and dog shows tend to be on the weekends and Thursday and Fridays tend to be prep days. Might have to go on a Monday or Tuesday which would be fine with me, too. Hang in there; warmer days are coming.

Laura: MIS is a great workout. Definitely not easy. It's one of those workouts where I end up with dumbbells and barbells weights all over the place. I'm not sure we ever really get over the loss of our sweet pups. At some point, I'm sure my heart won't feel so raw. I just trust that when the time is right another sweet golden boy (or girl) will come into our home and hearts.

Hi to Cindy, Janie, and Sister.
