Getting Our Licks In!

Well unfortunately I am waiting outside of the emergency room where Bo is having his hand stitched up from slicing open the back of his hand while cutting down the Christmas tree! He managed to cut an artery so there was a scary amount of blood! Not at all how I imagined tonight, I had decorated the whole house and had just started a nice steak dinner for the family before he cut his hand. Luckily my mom came & got the girls so they don't have to wait around!

I did get a chance to do the new STS full body workout which I enjoyed although I had to pause it a few times to figure out my weights. I am so excited to have two new full body workouts as that is what is going to workout best for me for my schedule

Saturday I did Intensity premix Step only again. Still had to modify during it but, managed to go a little longer. Took a rest day today. Walked Rolly 30 min. He was very happy.

Michelle, Well done on those stretches and on the Hiit today. Can't wait to do those too. It's so wonderful to be home from such a long trip. Glad you made it safely.

I'll be turning 60 in April and I have to tell you, I have to push myself even more, because sometimes I simply don't want to do the exercises. But, it has to be done, so I do it. I've read about people in their 60's to 80's doing a great job on their exercises, I just think you have to be true to yourself and knowledgeable enough to know how important exercise and nutrition are for good health.

Enjoy your day off. I'm with you on cold, but I can handle cold much better than being overheated. Great that you finished internet shopping and you are decorating. Have fun with that.

I look at people my age that don't exercise, and I must say, I look anywhere from 10 to 15 years younger. I don't have my glasses on though. LOL:D The poor people down the road, well, his mother is only 8 years older than me, she smokes like a chimney, eats awful and does no exercises. She truly looks older than Joe. She looks older than my dad, he's in his 80's.

Renee, Congratulations on the success of the chorus! I knew it would be a hit, you do such a lovely job on those kids. Making their spirits excited and making everything lots of fun. You are such a good teacher.

Great job on the premix cardio, it's a good workout. I most always take two days off per week from exercising and charged up by Mon.

The kitties will eventually get use to Peppy. He will fit in just fine before you know it. I would love to see pictures of your babies.:)

Laura, I'm so sorry to hear about Bo's accident with his hand. Will his hand be OK? How scary that must have been for you.

Great job on STS full body workout. Can't wait to do that one.

Take care everyone and be safe while our weather changes.

Janie

Another busy Monday done. Got up this morning and despite the cold, Ripken and I did our long walk. Wasn't that bad. I bundled up in layers and there was no wind. Not the case for this evening's walk. Had so much fun with Intensity on Saturday, did it again this morning. Did the step HIIT LO premix. I thought maybe it would be a little easier than the step HIIT Hi premix--not so. Just as challenging. Tomorrow will be a weight day--not sure which one yet. Maybe STS total body.

Laura: I'm still grimacing from reading about Bo's accident. Boy, you just never know do you? I hope he is doing okay today. Sounds like it was fairly scarey there. It's great you have your mom near to help out. She sounds like a very giving person.

Janie: thanks for your insights on getting older. I understand about the motivation issues. I love exercising but every once in a while I wonder what it would be like to take more than one day off in a row. Then, I buck up and hit the exercise. Thanks for joining me in Intensity on Saturday. I'll probably do it again this week--just for fun.;)

Hi to Shadowpup, Elle, Sister, and Shoegal.

Hi Everyone!

First and foremost Bo is fine, 6 stichtes later, but fortunately no damage to any ligaments and/or nerves which is a big relief! It was very scary though! Ihave never seen so much blood and don't want to ever again!:p

I just finished two pretty tough classes, Pilates and Ski Conditioning! They were pretty full which makes me happy! So much more fun to teach a bigger class than a smaller one for some reason, more energy or something! The Ski Cond. class I did a version of Cathe's Meso Cycle 3 Plyo legs where you alternating one plyo with one strength conditioning exercise!

Well the house is decorated, except for the tree, I have bought and wrapped all the presents that I need to ship and plan on shipping them tomorrow. I have things to buy for my girls and dinners to plan but other than than I am looking forward to a realitively quite and low key Christmas! (please no more accidents!!))

Janie: I am so impressed with you! I am sure the hard work pays off! I sometimes wonder how long I can keep up my pace, but think of you and others who are happily exercising away into their 60's and beyond and I get inspired. Any movement is good movement in my book. And I know I will be able to do Pilates into my twilight years as it is non impactive!

Michelle: I am loving the little of Insanity that I have done. I am thinking of doing HDS Double Cardio PRemix to try out my first step routine since my knee accident since it is the most familiar to me, but I am itching to do the step on Insanity! It is making a real real buzz here on the threads!

I wrote this really long post yesterday that I lost . . . :( - hopefully I'll be able to get this out today.

Decorating update: On Friday I did in fact manage to get all the lights on my pencil tree (Whew!!) that is a huge load off. On Saturday it took me all morning to decorate it. I don't know why it takes so long to put ornaments on but - heck, it did!! Everyone else seems to bang this out - not me - I'm doing this until noon. Next I went upstairs to decorate my whimsy tree there. Got it all done - it took up the rest of the day.:p We set up the huge real tree in the living room and put lights on it. So by then - day completely over. Sunday I went shopping.

Last night - set about decorating huge tree in living room - (12 feet tall & prickly but very beautiful) - It is sparse - by far the largest tree we've had and had to spread out the ornaments but this took all evening to do. It is hard to put ornaments way up at the top - balancing on a ladder and leaning way out. I think I need to buy more. Anyway - finished it and by this time it is midnight - no exercise and DH (who didn't help me at all!!!) and I go to bed. Barely 15 minutes after retiring - we hear a crash. The tree took a dive and fell over!!!! Some ornaments broke but overall it could have been worse and fell through the window!

Laura - the tree falling over is nothing compared to Bo's accident!! It kind of put my own troubles into perspective. I'm so glad he is alright. I'm the opposite of you - I have all my trees (save one) up and the house is undecorated and in disarray.

Michelle - Really cold here too. In Butler we have like 8 inches of snow. In Pittsburgh - there is hardly anything - but still really really cold. Brrr! My girls are loving it - they beg to go out and then dance around in the snow. I love watching them. I see you are enjoying Intensity too - I haven't tried it again - but looking forward to it.

Janie - I think we can all recognize how our exercise has changed over the years. I remember never modifying any exercise - I did it - regardless. Now I modify - or eliminate to protect myself. Not as eager as I once was to do a whole bunch of jumping as well. Exercise really makes a difference though.

Renee - taking Peppy in - is like watching our foster dogs grow and change when they are brought into a loving household - I love seeing how they change. I think he is really going to love it there with you. I'd love to see pictures as well!!!

Ok - I'm going to post. Hello out there to Elle and Shadowpup!

Joey and I did the muscle conditioning on the Wedding video. He hasn't done that one and liked it. It was a high rep type workout, and very easy to follow. Yeah! Also took Rolly out for a driveway walk for 30 min. The dogs and I are getting more friendly every time. Just can't seem to get the third dog to see it that way. I even walk them to the end of our driveway and tell them nicely to go back home after they eat their treats and they do it. Cool:cool:. I don't feel yet that it's time for Rolly to be with them. To scary still.

Michelle, Great job on Intensity Hiit Lo premix (I didn't think it would be easier than Hiit Hi, Cathe means business:confused:) and that cold but layered walk. Good for you! I bet Ripken loved it too.

I would join you on Intensity this Sat. but I usually take the weekend off except maybe a light cardio. Too much for this o' girl, need the time to repair this body.LOL Do you think I'm making an excuse? Hmmmmm, Ok, I'll do another premix with you this Sat. ;) Which one? LOL:D

Laura, Glad Bo is fine. Whee! Great job on the ski conditioning class Pilates class and a version of plyo legs. You impress me. Decorating the tree will be nice with everyone around. Have fun. I agree with you about any movement in the elder years is good. Any stretching exercises like Pilates and yoga and a bit of impact to. The impact for older people is even more important than ever, it helps keep the bones strong. I'm hoping for a light jog, walk...when I can't do any more exercises, then, it's time to leave.

Shoegal, Sorry you lost your post. How frustrating!

Your decorating sounds so lovely, please remember to let us see pictures.

OMG! Your tree fell? All that time on it and it fell? Glad it didn't go through the window. You poor thing. I'm sure you won't give up and will try again until it's perfect. You are a perfectionist aren't you?

Have a great day everyone,

Janie

I have been really sick with a nasty cough.:( My throat is raw and my voice is "froggy". I bought some Buckley's Mixture yesterday: It tastes horrible, but it works! So hopefully, I can get rid of this soon. I really haven't been able to do any yoga or treadmill since i keep getting nasty hacking, coughing fits.

Sunday we had our first snow of the season! Not very much where I live, just enough to make everything white and mess up the Monday morning drive. The areas North of Toronto got a major dumping though! The city of London got 30cm.

Shoegal: Sorry about your tree falling over! My ex never helped me decorate the house for anything. Has Rex always been like that? I always did it myself which was a lot of work but it was worth it.

Janie: Glad to hear Joey tried something different and liked it!

Michelle: Great to hear that you are enjoying your new workouts!:)

Laura: Glad Bo is ok. Knock on wood that there will be no more drama in your home!;)

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday I taught my beginner Pilates class and then I did the Double Cardio of 4DS which I absolutely loved! So fun to do step again! I love the LIS routine the most, it is the first step DVD I ever did and I remember previewing and feeling like I would never be able to get it, all the turning around! But I did and now it is my favorite! I had to rewind a little on the HIS, which I haven't done nearly as often so I am not as familiar with it.

Last night we decorated the tree, and I mailed off all the presents that needed to be mailed. I have bought a few things on line but still have lots of shopping to do for my precious girls! It is harder to shop for them this year, as they are in that place between a young girl and an older girl...plus things get more expensive and little silly gifts don't delight them in the same way as when the were little...any ideas for 10 year old girls?

Tonight is my Total Tone class, I was planning on some kind of cardio to, but my legs are soooo sore from all the exercise over the past couple of days, and I also do an hour of reformer work today, and I want to ski tomorrow (hopefully) so I am thinking that I should drop the cardio part!

Shoegal;):(:rolleyes::confused::eek::( I can't believe your poor tree fell over after all that hard work! I am glad that not to much damage was done though! I can feel how frustrating that would have been!

Janie: yea! You got your Joey to try something new and he liked it! Good for you!! Glad you are making friends with the pack!

Elle: I am so sorry you are feeling badly! Enjoy the snow with a cup of good broth and getter better soon! Is this a hard time of year for you with your divorce? I hope you decorate your house for YOU this year and take pleasure in how beautiful you are!!

Another different DVD by Cathe that Joey likes. Premixes from Basic Step called Upper Body, Lower Body, and Stability Ball Abs. (that's what we did today) Yeah! I now have 2 Firm DVD's, vol. 1 & 2, Wedding Video, Basic Step and Total Body Sculpting. All beginners or intermediate. We use heavy weight and I'm sure we are doing intermediate or low advanced workouts. So, 5 different DVD's is not bad at all. Love it, I'm in 7th heaven! Too rainy to go for a walk today. Poor Rolly.:( I had a lot of extra energy tonight so I also did High Step Circuit. Love it!

Joey will be in surgery again for taking out more skin cancer It's the not to worry kind, they cut it out and then it's gone). When I was giving him a hair cut he told me about another one he just discovered (In the laughing lines near his eyes, I felt a tiny bump). Man, they are popping up a lot lately. Had insomnia last night was so worried about it. He will go to the doctors and follow the same instructions as the others. What would I do without my Joey? Yikes! Prayers please?

Elle, Try and get better soon. Lots of rest and liquids.
Don't you just love the first snow?

Laura, Great job on Pilates class Double Cardio. Well done! Bet your tree looks awesome. I mailed all our Christmas cards two days ago. That was a relief, and it took me all day to do them. There were a lot! Enjoy your shopping, it can be fun. I never stopped giving little silly gifts and stuffed them in a stocking. They still love them and my girls and boys are now in there 40's. LOL Hopefully you did drop the cardio tonight, since you had done a lot of that lately and plan on active fun tomorrow. What is reformer work?

Take care everyone, and give your loved ones a hug and tell them how much you love them.

Janie

Last night I did The Firm Volume 1 - the time flew by. What a fantastic workout - it was so much fun to me I was really elated when I finished. I'm keeping it out to do again - old yes, but still great. I love Susan Harris!!! It was like an old friend doing this workout. I had a great time.

Found an entire box of ornaments I missed putting on the tree. So now the real tree in the living room is completely finished and looks better than ever. Now all I have to do is finish decorating the house!!!! Last night I did manage to put some boxes away - I just need an entire day to place things - just don't know where I'm going to find that day.

Elle - So sorry your ill :( - I've had nasty coughing fits in the past where I literally was just hacking continously and couldn't stop so I know what you're going through. Just rest & take it easy. I don't know anything about this "Buckley's Mixture" - I think I'll look that up. Rex will decorate the outside - he will put maybe one ornament on the tree - will help me put on the lights and set it up but then it is all me. I probably wouldn't let him help me decorate the house but I wouldn't mind help with the tree.

Janie - Well sounds like you are making quite a list of workouts to use with Joey - that's a good thing. Prayers to Joey - and (((hugs))) to you. Sometimes it is okay to worry a little - it shows him how much you care.

Laura - ideas for 10 yr old girls??? Heely's - my niece Chloe is 11 - she asked for those shoes that you can skate with. My other niece (who is the same age) asked for a game for the Wii - Mario Kart?? I'm with you - they are really tough - thank God they gave me ideas or I would be lost. Now-a-days kids want Ipods and Iphones at such a young age and they can all work that stuff too! Me - I'm lost!!!

Hello to Renee, Michelle & Shadowpup!!!

I spotted another DVD from The Firm called Hi-Def Sculpt which I added for this mornings workout. Joe liked that one as well. I figured out what he doesn't like. He needs simple choreography. Now we have 6 different workouts that will last us two weeks and then we start them all over again. 3 from Cathe and 3 from the Firm. Yoohoo.

Shoegal, Joey and I both Love The Firm Vol. 1 with Susan. Well done, it is not really an easy workout at all, so worth it. Sounds like your decorating is as beautiful as always. Pictures please? thank you with your support about Joey.

Hi to everyone else and have a great weekend. Will you all be posting soon?

Janie

Logging in to wish everyone a pleasant weekend.

I'll be decorating and shopping!!!:p

Last night - no exercise.:confused::(:(:( I went to the store following work then began to unpack more boxes to use in decorating. I find that very exciting wondering what could be in that next box!!!! I mean, I should know it is all stuff I have seen before - but I pull something out that I love & treasure and I'm delighted. I keep finding things I forgot that I bought last year that needed to go on my whimsy tree. I have quite alot of stuff for that tree now -and I hope I don't run into anything more!!! So it got very late and I skipped the exercise part - I was also extremely hungry all evening.

So I feel - out of shape and well, blah!!! :( :p:rolleyes: Not sick - but like I'm not taking good care of myself and it is showing. I was thinking of it today - and I have to get going. I am thinking of starting to run again - that might help me.

Janie - glad you are finding more and more workouts to do with Joey. I really do wish Rex would work out with me. When my sister and I were at home - we would exercise together all the time - it was incredibly motivating.

Hello to everyone - hope your holiday preparations are going well.

It is so rainy the last few days. Jeesh! Dreary. Did The Firm High Def-Sculpt with Joey yesterday. He enjoyed that one a lot. We used heavy weight. Today I did a premix on Low Impact Circuit, all four of the blasts. That last blast I could hardly do even with modification, but it's done. Whew! I'm tired. You should have seen the sweat I wrung out of my headband. LOL

Attention: Would like to have your address so I can send you all Christmas Cards. I have Shadowpup, Michelle and Shoegal. Need Renee, Elle and Laura. Just PM me OK?.

Shoegal, I really wish Rex would exercise with you too. As you know, it's a great motivator. Sit down with him and ask. You never know. Have fun decorating and shopping. I know how it goes when there is no more time left to exercise. You'll catch up after the holidays. Running sounds like a really good plan. Do it when you are ready.

Take care everyone. Would love to hear from ya, I know you all must be very busy.

I'm back from the missing. This week was just jammed pack at work and by the time I got home--I was just too tired to post. I have stuck with my workouts, except for Friday morning because I had to be to Quantico by 7am. Yesterday (Saturday), I did Powermax on Cardio hits. I toyed with doing intensity but decided I wanted to do a nice long classic. Today, I did STS total body. Oh boy--I just hope my legs will move tomorrow.

Janie: I'm glad you've found more workouts that Joey likes to do. I like doing those upper and lower body sculpts from Cathe's basic step dvd too. Like you, I just use heavier weights. We've got a dreary day here in Virginia today. Raining pretty good but it is not supposed to last too long. Then it is going to get very cold again. Might not see the other side of 32 degrees for a few days. Ick. I'm going to need to wear more layers. I'm also happy to hear that you and the neighbor's dogs are becoming friends. Once you feel comfortable with them, hopefully Rolly will too.

Laura: I have no clue what one gets a 10-year old girl anymore. Do they like board games? I always loved getting board games and card games, but I'm probably dating myself big time. You do so many outside activities with them, do they like doing things inside together?

Shoegal: you sound like you've weathered the fallen Christmas tree pretty well. I would have been totally distraught. But what can you do? Once it's over, all you can do is pick it up, reset, and straighten things out. Still what a bummer. My DH doesn't help with decorating either. If I ask him to briefly assist with a very specific task, he will, but I pretty much can decorate without assistance. I did finally get my tree decorated this weekend and I've wrapped all the presents that I've gotten except for a few things for family pets. I have a few more things on internet order and have to get 3 gift card/certificates and that is about it.

Elle: so, this week on the radio the DJ was talking about vicks. He said he felt like he was getting sick last week and his wife rubbed vicks on his feet and then put socks on. He said after 24 hours, he felt great. I don't know if vicks would help with your cough, but it might be worth a try. Otherwise, there is always alcohol--a little grand marnier or canadien mist?

I know sister is hanging tough with her exercise, but also has been busy. Maybe she will pop in sometime today.

Hello to Shadowpup. Hope everything is okay out your way.
~michelle

So I was basically sick since my last post all through the weekend where the cough started to get better only to find me getting stuffed up!:(

I did use lots of Vicks vapo rub at night and it definitely helps. Of course it doesn't help that i have been working like crazy. I'm off from December 15-January 4 so i have a lot of things to take care of by tomorrow. In the meantime, I have not done any yoga or treadmill. I haven't even meditated since i was coughing every 2-3seconds.:(

Janie: So it turns out there are some other workouts Joey likes! Sorry to hear he has recurring problems with his skin. Sending blessings to both of you.

Laura: This will be my second Christmas without my ex so i'm doing just fine. I even have a new someone special now that makes me very happy. I remember when i was 10 I started getting more into clothes. I was always into girly stuff though...nailpolish, lip gloss, purses, shoes, jewellery...pretty much still am into all of that!;)

Michelle: Sounds like you have been keeping very busy! Great job keeping up with all of your workouts!

Frack that is so annoying it totally takes the winds out of my sails...

long post made short..(er)

Despite my intentions to keep the holidays low key, things are getting busier. I was unable to work out Thursday - Sat. Although I had a wonderful weekend with my daughters. Bo had to leave town for business so it was just us.

Saturday we went to the Gilpin County Christmas Fair. Where we saw lots of folks we knew and did some shopping at the vendors. I got a few things for the girls and a few more things for me. Than we went to a friend of mine's house who buys whole sale woman's clothing and did more shopping! I got 3 nice blouses and lots of bracelets that are fun and funky. I bought the girls some beautiful jeweled hair ornaments that look lovely in their thick gorgeous red hair. Than a couple of friends came over for cocktails at my house and to see my decorations. It was a lovely holiday day.

Sunday me and the girls had a very low key day at home. We made cute felt snow man ornaments and mostly sat by the fire. I did do 4DS KB cardio only. And a premix from Push-Pull which I have to say I really liked. It was the 2 sets of the upper Body. I have never LOVED Push-Pull and view at an easier FB workout (which sometimes you need) But the 2 sets made it seem much more complete. It aslo inspired my to look at premixes more often. There are so many!

Today I bought a few more decorations for my dinning room. I can't wait to go put them up. I have the girls class violin recital and then my two classes at the Rec center tonight!

Well I am going to skip personals since I lost them...I have to run!

But hi to everyone!

Hello out there -

Had a very very busy weekend. Decorated Friday night. This consisted mainly of putting up these "Star" lights on top of the kitchen cabinets and rigging all of the wire - plus putting up garland to hide it all. I HATE doing this. I do it every year but I don't hate it any less when it comes round again. This took me from Friday night when I lost some steam until Saturday morning - where I did a whole bunch of decorating including finishing the lights up there. I am still not completely done but most of the tough stuff is finished so I feel pretty good about it.

Saturday afternoon - drove into Pittsburgh to do shopping. I drove home - then Sunday - drove in again to decorate my Mom's tree then to go shopping. I didn't actually know I was decorating it - but she didn't have it done so my sister's and I got busy. It was majorly crooked and took some doing to get it straightened out.

As for shopping - well - I have a list of items - about 10 things. I need to get this all done this week so I'm all hyped about it and I might go out tonight.

No exercise :( all weekend - but will work out this evening - I think - Lower Body Blast!!!

It sounds as if everybody else is way busy too. Can't wait till I can slow down and enjoy all of this a little bit and work out a lot more. This is killing me.

Joey and I did the muscle conditioning in the Wedding Video using heavier weight. It was great. Lots of talk on floods on the news.

Laura, So sorry about losing your post again. Darn!:( I sometimes want to slow down on my workouts too, but hanging in there so far. The New Year is just around the corner and can catch up then. How fun to shop at a County Christmas Fair and whole sale woman's shopping! Sounds like you got a lot of nice things and enjoyed some of your friends too. Making Christmas things and enjoying each others company with your girls sounds awesome, and wonderful memories. Great job on 4DS KB cardio, and the premix of Push & Pull. I love that one as well. When Joey and I were in that rut with TBS, I decided too, to look more closely at premixes. Glad I did. Would like to see those new decorations for your dinning room. Pictures please. Enjoy your two classes and the girls recital.

Shoegal, Glad to see your decorations are coming along just fine. It's amazing all the work you do, but I know how beautiful it is afterwords.:) How sweet that you and your sister decorated your Mom's tree. When you include all that with your own decorating, that is a lot of work, I must say.;) Were you able to go out tonight. Not many things left to shop for, you are doing good. Lower body blast is great, I'm doing that one tomorrow morning. The premix just of the blasts, I think there are 4 blasts. I better get my head band ready. LOL

Have a great rest of the evening everyone,

Janie
