Getting Our Licks In!

Waiting to teach my Total Tone Class...did a great Pilates class earlier in Boulder & them my friend took me out for a delicious Vietnamese restaurant & then we went shopping at a high end consignment shop & I ended up walking out with a huge pile of stuff!!

Janie: I agree with Michelle, he is being a bit of a drag, hard to deal with but just remember it is Him not you with a problem...

Michelle: ugh not what I want to hear but I know I really need to let it rest.....

I put on this Fit tv version of Cathe's cardio & weights that wouldn't work - thought it would be an interesting shortened version since I was short on time myself. I think I'm going to pitch it - it was so frustrating :mad::mad:!! I put on the Cathe version dvd and did a timesaver premix- compound and heavy weights - it fit the bill nicely.

Janie - I didn't realize that you had a homeowner association either - well, I think that its great - you had some options there to straighten the matter out. Everyone is right - your neighbor has the problem - not you -it is NOT unreasonable to expect that a pet is under the protection of its owner at all times. In fact, he was being an unresponsible pet owner by allowing them to roam free - this is actually safer for the dogs - and you!!

Laura - gee whiz I can't believe all the trouble you are having with your knee!!! I think you have endured the worst of it now. At least I hope so. I think you were due to buy a whole bunch of stuff to make up for all of your pain and suffering. ;)

Michelle - I don't know about you - but those mesos seem to fly on by - done with 2 now?? We are really enjoying some cooler weather but with lots of sun. I'm dreading the killing frost - which means the end of my cannas. Dying plants don't look so good in the yard. I am not looking forward to taking them out.

Hello to Renee, Shadowpup and Elle!!!

Had extra energy today so I did Step Moves. I love that one. After breakfast will take Rolly for a walk. Wish us luck. I have my camera in hand.

Michelle, Great job on STS disc 23, LEGS. Next onto meso 3. Yahoo! You should really take some time off before you start it though, even if it's 4 or 5 days instead of a week. The muscles in your body have microscopically been torn and need that time to repair itself.

I'll keep working with my little Rolly, just wish I knew how to make him understand. He is such a smart dog. He will go outside to pee and he knows he's earned a treat. When he poos outside he goes half way, (that is so funny to watch) comes in and thinks he deserves a treat. I give it to him, because he did poo outside. Later that day he will again poo the rest of the way and I do give him yet another treat. Then going pee throughout the day he ends up with many treats. He has earned them. But, he is not consistent enough to let him off his leash for awhile yet again. I hope we get there.

Laura, How fun to go out with friend for a meal and then did some heavy duty shopping. Good for you! I bet you feel good all over.:)

Shoegal, That is frustrating to try a workout that will be short yet affective but find out it didn't work. Great job on Cathe's version. Yeah!

Thank you for your support with the dog business. As the days go by we'll see how things turn out. Hopefully good.

Janie

Shoegal is right--we really are having some lovely fall weather. Ripken and I are really enjoying our walkabouts. He is so much more happier walking when it is not hot and humid. This morning I did Cardo Core Circuits. By the time I was done, I looked like I had just taken a shower with my clothes on. I always think there are 6 circuits on this workout and then we get to the 5th one and Cathe says--this is the last one. And I'm like--thank God, I thought I had one more after this. Tomorrow is the last workout for meso 2. And yes, I will take a break next week, which means I'll finish STS the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Janie: I love step moves too. I'm still trying to figure out why Rolly has these momentary lapses in his behavior? Do you walk Rolly the same times every day? Ripken and I pretty much walk the same times every day. And he knows that he gets more walks at the boat and on weekends at home, and he usually gets those at the same times. I'm just wondering if it's a routine thing?

Shoegal: I don't have any of the Fit TV versions of Cathe's workouts, but I can understand what you are saying. How's your decorating going, by the way? Isn't Halloween one of your major decoration events?

Laura: you will probably heal faster than my DH because you are younger and in great shape. Hang in ther--your cardio days will be back before you know it.

Sister: missing you here. Must be doing the Karate thing.

Hi to Elle and Shadowpup.
~michelle

It's Friday and i realized i have not done any yoga since Monday. I'm not counting my beginner's class on Wednesday). I've been really busy with work and had stuff going on after work as well...and now it's Friday!

Have a great day everyone!

TGIF!

My much needed rest day is finally here. One week of meso 3 done, 3 more weeks to go. I am loving meso 3 but I am definately feeling quite sore. Today, I feel almost DOMS free.

Shoegal, I find that if I do FitTV workouts, to expect those irritating commerecial breaks. If I don't want to deal with that, I just don't do them. And find a pre-mix of Cathe's that would fit the bill. I have added a few other instructor DVD's to my repetoire, but tend to always reach for Cathe.

4th grade play is very much behind me. They did good job, and I'm glad to be done with it. Now my fourth graders can do "new" stuff in music class. Of course, 2nd grade is next, and will be doing "The Animals' Christmas Tree". They will start learning the songs after Halloween. Whoopee!

One week away from my green belt in Karate, two weeks away from my first karate Tournament. Extra time is going into that, but let me tell ya', with the major leg DOMS going on this week, it was difficult.

Well, thats all for now....
~Renee

Walked Rolly and did MM. A full 3 days without any dogs! Yeah!

Michelle, Great job on CCC and your walks with Ripken. I too love the Fall, just the best time. I don't usually walk Rolly at a certain time. But, this week was consistent. Hmmmmm, you think that might be what is confusing him? I'll walk the same time of day with him and see what happens. Sure hope it's that simple. Thank you for the routine advice.

Elle, I know what you mean when time just flies by so quickly. Have a good time with your yoga today.

Renee, It is nice when working so hard and finely getting a well deserved rest day. Great job on the meso 3 workouts. The Animals Christmas Tree, sounds like so much fun for your kids.:D Enjoy your Karate milestones. Sounds like so much fun! Wish I was with you.:)

Have a great rest of the day and a wonderful weekend.

Janie

Almost crapped out last night and did nothing - I had waited to long to start. Ever have that voice in your head telling you not to exercise?? I put on Amy Bento's ASC - the first one. This one usually just flies on by - well - it didn't last night and I struggled with it and contemplated quitting every 10 minutes!!!:( I felt so tired and frustrated. I kept standing there and watching at points when she lost me on easy stuff. Amy breaks nothing down - you either get it or you don't - but I have done this before and had got it before and watched it knowing that I should be whizzing past it with no problem. I had nothing but problems.:mad::mad: But even with all the stops and the starts - I was simply happy that I finished.

Catchick - the Fit TV version I had was taped from the tv by a friend of mine - and it was actually not a very good picture and lots of techinical difficulties with the dvd - it wouldn't play!! I don't even have Fit Tv on my dish network. Karate tournament?? What is on the program? Do you fight other opponents?

MIchelle - I think we are done with boating weather here - our boat needs to leave the marina by Oct 31st - and I don't anticipate getting back to it to sail before that date. How long can you continue boating? I'm all decorated for Halloween!! I'm trying now to put spider web around (this is the first time I have tried to use it) - I'm not finding that so easy. They said it should just catch and stick on the walls - but it doesn't. I need to work at that a little harder to get it right.

Janie - Glad the dog situation is working out - I hope it continues!!!! You should be enjoying those walks right now - it is a great time of year for that.

Elle - hope you are doing something fun this Friday since you've been so busy!!

HI to Laura & Shadowpup!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend

Gave Rolly a bath and Higgin decided to help dry him. So Sweet!

Shoegal, Finding enough motivation is hard for me as well. You did it though, and that's what matters. Very proud of you! Then again, maybe your body is telling you to slow down today, so it can repair itself from all the excesses you've been doing. It's OK. Try not to feel bad about it.

I agree, this is the time of year when the weather is fabulous and need to take advantage of it.

Janie

A little on the almost chilly side this morning, but Ripken and I enjoyed our walk. I'm wondering if there is a meteor shower going on this month because I'm seeing "shooting stars" the past couple of mornings around 6 am. Then I did disc 24--back and biceps. Meso 2 is now over. Next week is active recovery.

Janie: I hope my suggestion about sticking to a walking routine helps. Guess you will see. I just know that Ripken and I are pretty much creatures of habit. Speaking of Ripken--we went up to the marina store to pay our bill and Ripken grabbed a stuffed animal off the shelf. Fortunately, it was on sale--actually cheaper than pet smart. So Ripken came back to the boat with a new stuffed teddy bear. He is such a goofball.

Shoegal: we keep coming to the boat until almost Thanksgiving. Traditionally, the weekend before Thanksgiving is our last on the boat, but sometimes we go until the weekend after Thanksgiving. In our marina, boats can stay in their slips year round or you can move them to some other "winter boat slip" site, or have them pulled and put in the yard here. We usually have our boat pulled and winterized on ground for the winter. Suppose to be a great weekend with temps in the 70s. Warm enough to wash the boat one more time.

Sister: do you take a test for your next belt? Or does your instructor just fleet you up to the next level when you have mastered certain skills?

Elle: hope you get that yoga in. You seem to really enjoy it.

Hi to Laura and Shadowpup.
~michelle

Ripken and I have had several nice walks today, but I'm taking a break day and then tomorrow will be day 1 of active recovery week.

We've enjoyed a day of beautiful weather and great college football. Always a great college football day when my VaTech Hokies win. YEAH!

Had a nice chat with sister on the phone and doing a little thinking about Christmas shopping on-line today. Also decided how I'm going to spend that Cathe gift certificate that sister gave me for my birthday last week. Stayed tuned on that one. It's also time to start thinking about a new home computer. The decision this year is whether to go with a MAC or stay PC. I'm in look and think mode at the moment. This is not a decision/purchase that I will make quickly. Have to collect the information, analyze, and then decide. At the moment, I'm leaning toward making the leap to the MAC world. I've been a PC girl forever basically for business reasons but it is much easier to go from MAC to PC and PC to MAC than it was 15 years ago, so I'm rethinking everything. What's everyone using here? PC or MAC?

I'm also patiently waiting for the Verizon I-Phone. I'm probably one of about 1,000 people in this country who are using the most basic cell phone there is. I'm way overdue for an up-grade, but it sounds like Apple and Verizon are close to have an I-Phone, so I'm waiting. Then I'll make the GREAT LEAP in the cell phone arena. My major motivation to go I-phone: cathe downloads. LOL!

Okay--I think I've rambled enough. But I would be interested in any insights and thoughts ya'll have on the PC versus MAC decision.

~michelle

Went to my son's and daughter in laws housewarming party. They have such a big beautiful home. I even get to babysit for two day, my grandson who is just past a year old. He will be coming tomorrow in the morning to drop him off. I am going to have such fun!

Michelle, Congratulations on your active recovery week starting tomorrow. Yeah! You worked so hard.

Went shopping today and purchased a couple of gifts for Christmas. I think it's a good idea.

I think you can't go wrong with a PC. MAC just doesn't have enough stuff going on like the PC does. Just my opinion.

Cell phone: It dosen't cover in our area, never has. Our kids keep thinking that we are behind the times, but we have to remind them, we are not covered by any of them. Oh well.

I one day would love to have an I pad. When to use it, well, workouts of course.;)

Have a good one,

Janie

Another beautiful day here in the mid-Atlantic. Can't beat this fall weather--feels like spring, only the leaves are coming down instead of sprouting out. Ripken and I have taken two really nice walks. In fact, I'm wearing shorts today--it's that warm. We are going to have to change our walk routine here at the marina because they are fencing in more area to make the boatyard area bigger. We could still walk inside the fenced in area except I'm expecting there will be boats in the way. Not to worry--Ripken and I will prevail with our walkabouts.

Did stretch max this morning. It felt sooooo good. My back muscles have really been feeling the last 2 weeks of STS meso 2. This week was more like good DOMs vice last week where my body was giving me some warning signals not to press so hard.

Janie: interesting that you don't have good coverage where you live. I wonder if Shadowpup has the same issue in Idaho. I know that she has a cell phone that she uses when she is on travel but I don't know about her coverage at home. Wonder if she got all those bulbs planted? It's nice that you son and D-I-L live close enough that you could celebrate their new home with them. Enjoy having your grandson visit. He is a little over 1 year old--guess you will be getting a workout keeping up with him. How does Rolly like the grandchildren?

For those of you on facebook--check out Cathe's Halloween picture with her boys. She is quite be-witching.

Second day of my active recovery week. My body is very happy about this being an active recovery week. This morning after my walkabout with Ripken, I did All Step (just the cardio, abs, and stretch). 45 minutes of great fun. Ripken joined me on the floor for the ab segment. It's always much more fun to do ab work when I have Ripken laying next to me "to help out." My DH asked if Rip could get any closer and I said, "um, yes--he could lay on top of me," which he has been known to do from time to time. Silly pup. Stretching is his favorite--he somehow manages to situate himself so he is cuddled right up next to me on the floor being extra cute so he can get some love while I stretch. I wish everyone could meet Ripken because he is such a sweet pup and has managed to find a way to be a part of my workouts that is not disruptive. Sister can vouch for how sweet he is.

Well, the time between now and the holidays is looking very busy with lots of good, fun work. Did a little Christmas shopping online yesterday and I bought the double-wave pyramid download for myself. Downloaded the file early this morning--pretty easy.

Hope everyone is set for a great week.
~michelle

Raining like cats and dogs unfortunately. Can't take Rolly out in this. Did MM again. Sure do like that one.

Michelle, So jealous of you being able to wear shorts and your spectacular weather. I'm afraid our rainy season is here to stay for awhile. Our skylight in the kitchen is leaking and I had to put pots under the drips. I've asked Joe to come home. He should be here tomorrow night.

Good attitude with the changes at the marina. Great job on SM, you make it sound so wonderful. Maybe I should do some yoga later today to stretch my body as well. Hmmmm. You are such an inspiration.

I bet Shadowpup did get those bulbs planted. It would be like her to stay on top of it no matter what. She is such a trooper isn't she?

Grandson caught a cold so, I didn't get him like expected. There will be more times to babysit though. Rolly is part of the family and joins in like a kid. He loves everyone! Bless his little heart.

I'll check out Cathe's bewitching picture. Sounds like she is having fun.:)

Give Ripken a hug for me and have more grand walks with him while you can. Take care.

HI to everyone else, and will catch you sometime during this rainy Monday.

Janie

Howdy!

I did Hiit 30/30 this morning, plus the first segment of Total Body Stretching. That one is good for the legs, and boy do they need it. I have DOMS again, but not to the extent I had last week. Up to 95 pound squats and 80 pound bench press. I love feeling strong!

I got extra board breaking practice in this weekend for my karate tournament in 2 Saturdays. We use thick plastic boards with a groove in the middle, so you can put them back together and break it again. I assure you its not easy but I was getting my one punch and 4 kicks into a good pace. I have to use 5 techniques for board breaking. So I am using a reverse punch, front kick, side kick, jump kick and round house kick. The first 3 are fairly easy, the last two takes just the right amount of power and execution to get it right. I'll be able to practice again this coming weekend. I go over to a friends house and they hold the board while I go thru the rotation. Oh, and Friday I graduate to green belt and "intermediate" status. Woo-hoo!

Tomorrow is MMA: kickbox and Wednesday is Shoulders, Bi's and Tri's disc 30 I think. Second week of meso 3. I love meso 3!

Okay, gotta get back to work. ttfn

~Renee

The weather subsided some, so decided to go retrieve the mail and come back to walk Rolly in the wood.

One of my feuding neighbors dogs was there. Took a couple of pictures of him. He is a huge gray one that scares the hell out of me. Was able to capture it also by our address and name sign.

The new beginnings of proof. The picture even has the date stamped on it.

This is war, and will continue to gather evidence for who knows what.

Jumping back in again!! Just finished my intermediate Pilates class & ski conditioning! Still can't do the ploy but I am doing the leg weighted moves... Carefully!!

Wow Christmas shopping!! You guys are on top of it! I am scrambling to get ready for Halloween this weekend! Sophi is going to be an Indian which is pretty much covered but Eliza wants to be a Pippi Lingstocking cowgirl and we are having trouble figuring it out!! That will be tomorrow afternoon's project!

Our adorable Misty came home with us Saturday & is turning out to be an awesome pup! Although dealing with all the puppy antics , such as potty training, chewing every shoe she can but NOT her chew toys & keeping us up at
Night !! She is worth every second!!

Read the posts on this page at least & got caught up a little...

Michelle my 1st computer was a Mac and I have always loved Mac! I could never figure out the PC world... I have iPhone, iPod and Mac computer so everything flows from one device to another seamlessly. If you do get an iPhone I would consider a Mac to get the most out of both devices... For example I am posting right now on my iPhone from Cathe's nifty new iPhone application! So COOL!

Hi everyone,
It's going to be a beautiful fall day here. :) It's supposed to reach a high of 21.

My butt is sore from my kids yoga class on Sunday! There were balloons left over from a party in the room where the class is held so i decided to incorporate them into the class. We had a lot of fun using the balloons in various ways and it even got me working!

Janie: I know you are in the midst of some sort of dispute with your neighbour and their dog but i think i missed the original post where everything was explained. I know people who have had problems with neighbours and it's never easy but I hope it all works itself out soon.

Michelle: I love my Apple products but i wasn't sold enough to get a Mac. I bought a new laptop almost a year ago and seriously considered getting a Mac. Through comparison shopping I came to the conclusion that Apple is very good at marketing their products but I was able to get an HP laptop with a lot more memory and features for a lot less money. It all depends on what you are using your computer for. At the end of the day you are essentially paying for the name and the cute little Apple logo.

Having said that, I have played around on Mac's and I have lots of friends who love their Mac's. Should you decide to go that route i think you will be able to transition from a PC to a Mac with no problems. It's not complicated to figure out. You can go to any Apple store and the staff will let you play around on one in the store and help you if needed.

As for the Ipod and Iphone: These devices work well on any computer so don't let that be the overriding factor in your decision. You pretty much just plug them in to your computer. It's really that easy. Having a Mac is no advantage in this area. They are designed to be easy to use by everyone.

Like i said, ask yourself what features you need in a laptop and go and play around on a Mac for a while and decide if it will suit you. For me, it came down to the fact that i wasn't getting as much for my $$$ with the Mac even though i initially really wanted one. I also really wanted the Ipad when it first came out but I've since decided that i really don't need it right now so i'm holding out until they come out with the 2nd generation version. Have fun shopping!:)

Still very warm here in the mid-Atlantic and on top of that, it's humid. What day is this? Oh yeah, October 26th. Sadly, it won't last--but I'm enjoying the warmer weather; Ripken not so much--he likes the cooler stuff, but we still did our long walk this morning. Then I did stretches 1 and 2 from stretch max. Ahhh--that felt good.

Janie: That sure is a big dog. What breed is he/she? Bigger than Ripken that's for sure. I know I would be uneasy too if I had Ripken on the leash and that big guy came loping along. Ripken's not one to shy away from being the alpha dog and without the other dog's owner present to control the dog, it could be very unpleasant. Hope you get this worked out. Thanks for your thoughts on PC versus Mac.

Also thanks to Elle and Laura on the PC versus Mac debate. I'm still in mull it over mode and most likely will be for a while.

Laura: I can think about Christmas early because I don't have children. I expect most parents are focused on Halloween right now vice Christmas. I'm trying to get my "tough to shop for" Christmas gifts done first so I'm not sweating on those come the week right before Christmas. My easy to shop for gifts will happen, well, pretty easily. Good luck on the Pippy Longstocking costume. I wouldn't know where to begin.
