For those with GFW or bodybugg

Cynthia...i'm starting to think you work for all these companies!! You are such an enabler!!

LOL! I'm just doing my part to help stimulate the economy.:D
Hey, it's only fair. I've been enabled by many on this forum! It's one big circle of love, for shopping that is:p

It's 5:30pm now and I have burned 2100 calories so far. This may be a 2600 calorie day for me!:D:D

Ok, lots of questions here!!!:
1) Cynthia, how are you getting those numbers? I've only had my GWF 2 days but I'm wondering how I'll do that! I burned 1800 in my normal day, no workout (I was seeing what my average was).

I just did 45 minutes of Circuit Max and that only burned 400 calories :(

2) On my first day, I walked 7000 steps just in the normal course of my day. I have a desk job, and that was without a workout. Is that ok? I'm working up to 10,000!

3) Do you or others count your workout in the 10,000 steps? Like, do you aim for 10,000 in addition to the steps you rack up during a Cathe w/o, or is that included??

I'm so confused...... :(

I look at my digital display a million times a day:D

Me too!

When I first got my bugg, I was burning around 2000 and barely hitting 5000 steps a day.
I do count my workout in my total steps for the day. I LOVE Cathe's step workouts! I can get 3/4 of the way to my 10,000 goal with 45 minutes of Cathe's step.
My numbers are high today because I did 53 minutes of Step Blast (7500 steps), and cleaning house for tomorrow's Easter guest.
I've been on my feet from 5am (taking breaks to check in here:)). I've walked over 14,000 steps so far today.

Don't get frustrated. It took me a few months to get my numbers up. I reached my target calorie burn maybe once in the first month. You will get there!
Now, I'm so addicted to hitting the high numbers, I find it difficult to take a day off from exercise:eek:

I am trying to resist....TRYING!!!

Okay....i'll get the arm band part....but is the watch really necessary?

I might be the only one to say this, I'm happy I bought the watch, but I don't need it. I thought I would be addicted to watching the numbers, but I'm just not, I prefer the display in the software. The thing I like the most about the watch is to see my calories burned immediately after finishing a workout. I really only use it during my workouts.

If the watch is not on sale, you could always get the armband, then buy the watch if you feel like it's incomplete without it. Unless there is a package deal, there does not seem to be a financial incentive to buy them at the same time.

I absolutely count workout steps as part of the 10,000. In fact today, I am away from home, and knew I would not get in enough walking by itself, so I ran on the treadmill to get in some paces. Ultimately, I seemed to have ended up with 12,500, so fine, but low for me. I average about 15,000 a day.

Now, being away for a holiday with family, no matter if I burn 2700 calories in a day, I can guarantee that right now, I NOT losing weight. But when my sister-in-law makes homemade brisket and kishke and these amazing salads, then there are totally amazing cookies, and wine and... Well, I'll get back on track when I get home.

When I have a no work-out day and it is a work-day(desk job) I get about 8000 steps and burn about 2000, so that is teaching me I really have to watch diet if I take a rest week. I am one of those fidgeter type people, wonder how it counts that?

I read somewhere that the GFW and BB do not pick up on cycling exercises. So, for my 60 minute spin class...I don't get credit?!? DOes it just count arm movement?

Jessica

Jessica: Don't quote me on this but I read somewhere that people move the armband to their leg for the spin class and it picks up the burn more accurately that way. I would test it out and use a HRM too if you have one to kind of compare. Keep in mind that the HRMs tend to give a higher calorie burn than the GWF, though.

I would also encourage the watch / display. I like being able to see where I am in the day without linking up the armband to the computer. I love seeing how close I am to my calorie and step goals for the day. Plus, it's like a mini cheerleader when it beeps at me to tell me I've met one of my goals. :D

I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread!!!

I have a question about the armband - how thick is it? I wear dress clothes to work and am wondering if it is really sticks out.

Thanks!!!

For anyone considering a purchase, keep your eyes out on Amazon, I bought mine at $170, a week later it was on sale for $145 , and then a couple days later back to $170.

I also count the steps taken during a workout towards my overall.

Yesterday I had no workout, ran a few errands, but mainly was driving/sitting, I burned just over 2100 calories, and took only 5100 steps . My daily goal is set to 8500. Yesterday was the first day I ate over my daily burn. I'm trying to keep my calories low today.

It's pretty flat against my arm, the dimensions from the site on the device are:
Size and Weight
Length: 55mm (2.2")
Width: 62mm (2.4")
Height: 13mm (0.5")
Weight: 45.4g (1.6oz)

The band itself I'd say is about 1.5 inches wide and not thick at all.

It does show through tight clothing, so anything snug on your arm, you will see it.
