FIT TV vs. actual videos

Hey everyone! I have watched a few Cathe's on FIT TV and did Boot Camp yesterday w/her (what a great workout, fun and challenging!!).

Question: How do the w/o's on TV compare to the actual tapes? For example, the show is 60 min (w/commercials), how long is the actual tape?

Is there a place to trade here?

Thanks!!

Peace,
Cynthia

Hi Cynthia-

The video is different in a few ways. First of all, you don't have those 'breaks' for commercials. Even if you're fast forwarding through them, it's still different than doing the workout without interruption.

In addition, Boot Camp for example, has a few cycles cut out on the television version. I believe 2 are missing. Same with the other videos - pieces here and there are left out. In most cases, some of the tougher moves/sections are omitted from the FitTv version. The DVDs are a worthwhile investment, not only for the luxury of having the entire workout, but the premixes, chaptering, etc make it much easier to customize a workout specifically for you and your fitness level.

There's about 45 minutes of actual workout on FitTV. So if you're doing Kick,Punch and Crunch, you'll be getting 45 minutes of a 70 minute workout. Some of the drills are left out on this one.

For muscle enduance, one whole cycle is left out. For Step Blast, a bit is clipped from the beginning of combo 2, and the last 2 blasts are left off.

I had these on my TiVo, but I can assure you, nothing compares to having the real deal, the premixes, the entire she-bang.

I know I have to get the DVD for Rhythmic Step because of this. There is a lot cut out in that one...and it's one of my favorites.

Imax 2 is still "killer", but I want the whole thing...and several sequences were left out on FitTV's version.

I was bored one day and watched Fit TV's butchered version of Cathe's Cardio and Weights one day. I can tell you that they completely cut out an entire circuit (there are 4 total in her video where they show 1, 3 and 4 on TV). Hope this helps.

They butchered PLB also: the warm-up is completely missing(!), and the transition between squats/pliés and deadlifts is cut out, so you go right from doing squats with the bar behind your neck, Cathe says "now let's get ready for our next exercise," and "cut," they are starting rep 1 of deadlifts with the bar in front! It would have made much more sense to me for them to cut out the ending ball work, because the rest of the workout is complete on its own, IMO. (Not that I do it with FitTV, because I have the DVD, but it just really annoyed me!)

I agree Cynthia! Once you try them, you are hooked. Nothing like the full workout so you are not missing out. I'd hate to think you wouldn't get to do as many low-ends as the rest of us. ;-)

Hi Cynthia, I just wanted to add that I only have the Fittv versions of Cathe too and I watched Push/Pull today and followed along with my catalog and they actually don't cut out any of this workout. At least its one whole workout! Sandy

The key is to get the PP/SS DVD. The premixes really kick these up a notch. I just did the Double PP premix this morning, 80 minutes, and it was great. Pyramid up as heavy as you can, you will feel these!

Fit Tv was where I really "found" Cathe. I knew of her intense reputation, but I just needed to see for myself if she was worth it.

SHE IS!!!!!!!!!!

PP is the "Push/Pull" workout and SS is "supersets." They come on the same DVD.

Premixes are ready-to-use workouts that combines parts of different workouts, or segments of the same workout in different ways.

I don't own a lot of Cathe DVDs (yet!!) and so I fill in by using the ones I've taped from FitTV. If a body part is missing or I don't feel that I've worked out enough, I mix and match from a few different taped workouts. It's a good interim solution while I slowly add to my collection.

Exactly! It's how I got turned onto Cathe and began collecting her workouts on DVD. Much nicer to have the premixes available. And with the excellent customer service at SNM, I'll be working out with Cathe for years and years.
