Fit & Firm Mom Jan 18th

Funny thing....I "stuffed" my bra today. I forgot to wear my "nipple pads" as DH calls them so I had to stick toilet paper in my bra in case I experience some leakage. Did I tell you that I ((LOVE)) the funny moments that come along with being a mommy? I'm glad I have a sense of humor..... :)
 
Jen, I've done that too. I normally don't have leakage issues (blessing)...except for early days of nursing.

Discouraged here again. :( Yesterday I did Imax 3, 4 miles on elliptical + 10 lb vest- (w/ Maddie) & consumed around 1800 calories. I gained another pound. So I started the week 2 lbs down, but have gained it all this week....making this week a non-loss week (unless something happens tomorrow). When a person has so much weight to lose....they just cannot afford to have "non-loss" weeks. :mad::mad: I'm baffled....isn't it way too soon to plateu?

I'm definitely getting some spanx to try. I'm getting despirate as my work start date approaches & I"m not showing progression.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to sign up for the 1/2 marathon in Fargo....it's this May. That will help me focus on a different goal (rather than weight loss, which is driving me nuts)!!!!

Urgh. Thanks for listening to me whine again. :eek:
 
Sorry I haven't been around lately. I just started working on Tuesday and it's taking a lot of adjustment at this point. I'm more tired than ever and barely sleep at night. I have been working out regardless but it's been hard to keep up with everything and my emotions are not helping either. In a week my parents will leave and God knows when they'll be back.

Precilla, sending hugs your way! Sounds like you are having adjustment pains ...seems like we are in an endless realm of adjustment nowadays, eh? Hang in there, it will get better.

I always found the postpartum fatigue so much easier to handle than pregnancy fatigue. It's "different".

I haven't decided my workout for today yet? I might do the Bootcamp thing? Cardio Coach? Kickbox? So many decisions. I should do a cardio/strength combo workout....
 
Cardio Core Circuit complete....i put in some bicep, tricep, & shoulder wt work in. This dvd is okay. I really have alot of trouble doing squat thrusts & similiar moves....by the time i'm squated on the floor....cathe is already jumping in air!! how does a person get better at these "drills"? i know, i know, practice, practice, practice. i wasn't able 2 do all core work either. but dripped w/sweat nevertheless.

I have two more hours, then I"m off to "work". *sigh* I can do this!!! lol

I'm listing 12-18 mos baby boy clothes on eBay now. I"m almost "done" listing baby clothes. DS3 is just outgrowing size 2 clothes. It has been a little emotional going thru the clothes. DH thinks I'm nuts, "How many kids does a person need?" lol I have to filter thru all my medical bills too....and start writing out some checks. So far, I have over $200K in medical bills (thank goodness for insurance, we'll only need to pay $7500).

How was everyone's workout?

B: two eggs over hard
S: coffee, 1/2 cup mixed nuts
L: 1 cup chili, 1 oz of cheese, diet pop
S: 10 small carrots dipped in guacamole
D: 1 cup chili (finish it off), 1 oz cheese, 8 oz milk
S; protein smoothie

Looking over my menu, I see that it's lacking in veggies. Urgh. I'm going to put some spinich leaves in my smoothie....
 
Hi ladies
New computer is up and running. Had errands to run this moring...Bubbles for grooming etc.
I started MMA Kickboxing and about 20 into it I was bored..so I stoped and waxed my eyebrows LOL.
Melanie-I think your blahs hit me today! I took a short nap with Kara and feel better..but still kinda in a funk. I guess we all get em uh.
Im glad you are feeling better. It really doesnt make sense that you are not dropping weight with your exercise and diet. All I can think of is maybe you are doing too much and your body is scared to let go right now. Its the only reason I can come up with.

Jen-I ran out of "nipple pads" and as I was in the checkout line at Target with a box my milk let down and I walked out with 2 huge wet spots!

Haley came in 7th out of 36 in the spelling bee..she was heartbroken...but did a great job. They were up against 8th graders! She fogrot an A in psychoanaylsis. Her buddy won, so that made it even harder!

Ok sorry for not getting to everyone, Kara is sitting here just smiling and I feel like Im ignoring her bbs

Melanie- I know you are going to call me crazy but looking at your w/o's and all the calories you are burning btwn that and BFing, I honestly do not think you are eating enough. I wonder if your body is hanging onto fat because you are nursing and not getting enough energy from the calories you are eating. Maybe you can add in another 200-300 calories for a few days and see if that kickstarts your metabolism again. Or at least on the days that you do alot, up your calories and on your so so days, lower them.

Jen, thanks for your input. Susan was thinking the same thing. The thing is I"m not any more hungry....and it seems so counterintuitive to eat when you're not hungry!! lol

I will add vitamuffin (100 cal) daily to my regimen & try to eat another serving of veggies.

Your opinion means alot to me ladies. Thank you!

Edited to add: I made it thru my first 2.5 hours of work! YIKES! It was so incredibly busy (but I missed girls like crazy) and they got a new computer system yesterday PM & noone knew how to use it & I was short staffed. LOL Welcome back, I guess!!! Hopefully tomorrow goes a little better. :D

Melanie- I agree about hte calories. i had the same thing last week, burning over 1500 calories a day and not being hungry, and I gained weight! I realxed this week, and see results. I added more strength and less cardio and focused on getting more rest. I know how hard this is and you are awesome. you will be where you want want to be in time, but I know that sucks to hear right now! Good job and keep it up! Work must have been tough, but you did it!
Jen- I am so glad that you love bootcamp. do you like muscle endurance? I think it has the best chest workout ever and all the stuff on the high step makes my butt ache! I tried to do Drill max and Step Jump and Pump today, but there was grouchiness in teh house and I could not keep the kids happy long enough to get more than halfway. Oh well.. And to funny about the bra. Try putting maxi pads in your bra when desparate, the stick um on hte back helps keep them in place and there is the waterproof coating in case you are like a geyser.
Allison- wish you lived next door. The kids coudl play and we could get fit!
Prisciila- I know this is a hard spot, I am there too. ahng in there. If you ever want to vent, we are here.
Susan- I agree on the MMA Kickbox. As soon as she started the wacky turnign kick I was out of there and watchign tivo 90210 episodes. I am turning into a doubter of the new series. She is just not as cheery as other videos. I miss that and need her pep. Oh well. I liek the Hiit ones. Cardio Core, Mel you did that one? I am okay with it. I agree that the ab section is ridiculous. I actually hurt my back with that video.
Bad day here. John is sick with teh flu and I am a bear. Lots of waves ladies. I am going to open wine. Cheers.
 
Christine, sorry about the sickness at your place....that's always tough...but especially so with weeones in the house! I know how frustrating it is to try to workout & have to stop b/c crying babies/crabby toddlers. I'm so happy that DH has agreed to watch the kiddos so I can get the time to myself. :D In exchange, he gets to have coffee in the morning with his buddies (anywhere from 2-3 hrs). Sometimes I feel like an old married couple........wait! We are an old married couple. LOL

DS1 has 3 teenagers over tonight for a sleep over. I love for him to bring his friends here (instead of him going over to other peoples houses). I wonder what they are going to think when I go down there with my 10-lb vest/ Myranda in Bjorn & hop on the elliptical.:cool:

I work again in AM, but will be done at 12Noon.

morning ladies! well i officially caught the sickness that has been going around wrk the last three wks. i just hope j doesnt get it. i have a sore throat and sneezes right now. loading up on vit c and some zinc plus lots of water. oh and i started taking fenugreek ls night so we shall see if it helps my milk. oatmeal 2x a day has helped.

christine- i like musle endurance too. dont really remember the chest w/o but maybe i blocked it out. ;) i've always enjoyed full body w/o's and bootcamp style w/o's. im a heavy sweater and love to sweat alot. i dont feel like i've worked hard unless i am drenched. half a w/o at this point is better than none. at least that is what i tell myself.

melanie- hope your work morning went by fast for you. about a month into bfing i stopped feeling hungry and noticed i wasnt eating much and the scale stopped but once i added in some more snacks and got a lil more sleep it started to move again. i've stopped at 140 which is still five lbs from my pre preggo weight. ive been here for the last month. i wonder if its bc of bfing??

Melanie-hope today at work goes well. Its good that you and dh swap out for his coffee time and your working out. Getting to do that makes you both better parents! Could you be so busy you dont feel hungry, but really are due for a snack??

Jen-sorry you are sick!!! Maybe the oatmeal I eat is why I have so much milk..or it could be becasue Kara nurses hourly lol.

Kara woke up at 330 this morning ready to party. Shes so darn happy I can't get mad about it. So we got up and I drank some coffee, we talked, played then she zonked out at 5-8...thankfully I made myself go back to be too and got nearly 2 hours more...I needed that! I have never been a good sleeper, so usually I can't go back to sleep.

Dh of course wants back on the computer to install stuff. bbl~

Jen, I think you & I had the same build pre-pregnancy? I was 135lbs 5'8"....now I"m stuck at 155lbs. :( My "goal" is 140....so my goal is where you are at. Now doesn't that paint me all green with envy? :eek: I don't envy the gunk you caught though! Drink lots of OJ!!!

Christine, is everyone starting to feel better? I hate barfing!

Susan, that's funny about DH hogging the new computer! I'm so grateful that my DH has no interest in the computer. We have an "extra" laptop though... compliments of 3 mos of bedrest! LOL

I'm working to re-program my brain. I was so sure that the SBD would work for me...as that's what worked for me so well in the past. This pregnancy has been so different right from the get go!! Why should postpartum be the same as others? Anyone try the ABS DIET? I have the book....have read the book & like the concepts....it will help keep things "fresh".

I am going to sign up for 1/2 marathon this Spring! I"m really excited about that!!

I better make kids lunch, it's getting late!

Oh, and I didn't work today. Owner called & said not to come in b/c the roads were so bad. We got ice rain pretty thick on the roads.

Melanie-glad you didnt have to travel on the bad roads! I will have to look up the ABS Diet..might do it with you if its for me.
We are going to Fla over Spring break (March 22-26). My plan is to reach goal, stay there and get in the best shape ever.
 
Oh Dh has been wanting to make Stromboli sandwiches...I have never had them..but he has and loves them...so tonight we are making them together..they are NOT low cal!

Workout: CC5 (5.5 miles) + 4.5 mile walk later (with bambino). I've been wearing that 10lb vest for my runs/walks & loving it! I'm wearing Shape ups during the day...not sure if they're doing anything or not, but they're fun to wear!

Been reading about ABS ...seems to be a lot like Body for Life???
Have you done ABS before? What do you like/dislike about it?
It looks doable for me. I like to concentrate on eating good and calories, but I also like a "plan" to work with. Maybe we can help each other??

No workout for me today. Been chillin with family watching Rebels play basketbal.
 
I've never done Abs Diet....but I bought the book when I bought SouthBeach Diet after I had Jadon. I figured I'd try one & if it didn't work....I'd try the other. I ended up incorporating the "smoothies" & the "one cheat meal/week" concepts into the South Beach Diet when I lost 20+lbs after that pregnancy.

I've never read the Fit For Life book. Would you recommend it?

I like the fact that oatmeal is a "power food" in the Abs Diet. I have been missing some of the complex carbs I've been staying away from. SBD allows complex carbs in moderation during phases 1 & 2 (as long as you're continuing to lose weight...but I wasn't losing wt, so wasn't eating them).
