Favorite NON-Cathe Workouts??

>OK. I am OBVIOUSLY behind, but what does TLT stand for? And

TLT - Tracie Long Training (www.tracielongtraining.com ) a set of 4 functional fitness workout, 2 lead by Tracie, one lead by Jen Carman, and 1 lead by Susan Harris.

There are two "Fit Prime" series. One is about 3 years old or so, and has instructors like Tracie Long doing workouts that combine weights, cardio (4 limbed stuff) and yoga. kind of a hodge-podge of moves, and some 'unique' ones.

WHFN (Women's Health and Fitness Network) put out 12 workouts by Anna, about a year ago?, 6 of which are called "Fit Prime" and 6 of which are called "Kick Butt." Similar to the Bénson-Produced "Fit Primes." I tried several of them (the 4 that are available at retail, 2 per DVD...Netflix has them also). They didn't click with me. I much prefer the earlier Firm workouts (the "middle-aged" ones from Tortoise/Hare through the pre-Goodtimes Firms) and the newer Transfirmer workouts.

Supposedly, Anna is coming out with more workouts this year.

>So between Turbo Jam and Powestrike, which would you all
>recommend?

I've just seen the TJ infomercials, and have tried two of the workouts, but I don't like the dancy, uncontrolled movement in a lot of it. Powerstrike is much more "authentic kickboxing," which I like. TJ is kind of like a dance party with some sometimes sloppy kickboxy moves in. And I really question the safety of some moves, like keeping a pelvic tilt thoughout most of the workout, and doing some weighted squats while doing a wiggly hip move.

TJ is more of a 'party in a box" type of workout, while PS is more straightforward, drill-like. Different people have different tastes and would prefer one to the other.

In my tried and true rotation since 2003 are:

Mindy Mylrea - Interval Express

Tae Bo - (#3, #8, and #11 from the original advanced live series, both of the Get Ripped workouts, and Cardio Bootcamp)

The Firm - Super Cardio

Crunch - Boot Camp Training (led by Susan Hitzmann)

My current system is to rotate these videos with Cathe videos, in whatever order bets fits with my mood. I don't really have it down to a science...I just grab one and do it (trying to alternate cardio with weights, every other workout).

Kathryn,

Thank you for answering my question. I'm going to go to Tracie's website. She was one of my favorite instructors!

I assume you are referring to Bodypump? You cannot buy these unless you are a certified instructor unfortunately...here is a link to their site though if you want to take a peek at a video clip of one of their latest releases (# 56)

This was my favourite release! Most the gyms in Australia have Les Mills classes...do they not have them near you at all?

Angles, Lines and Curves & ALC II by Kari Anderson They're a lot of fun and help with flexibility.

All of my other non-Cathe workouts (Kathy Smith, Karen Voight, Cher, Paula Abdul) are gathering dust. I only keep them for recovery from injuries. Knock on wood I haven't had an injury in a very long time.

Hi:

How do you use Cardio Coach for spinning? I have a spinner at home and workout to Spinnervals, Robert Sherman and Johnny G... However, I love the cardio coach music.... Could you explain what what Cardio Coach you use and how your workout is patterned? Thanks,Dee:D

I love Jennifer Galardi's workout. It is a fusion of ballet/pilates, etc. It was a pretty tough workout. I felt it for the next few days. You can watch her on FitTv as well.

>Charlene Prickett: Crazy for Step. 70 minutes on a 10" step
>with no breaks. Need I say more? My name for this is 'Step
>Insanity'. This one is my current world record holder for
>calories burned per my HRM.

I didn't think anyone else knew about Charlene Prickett. I have been doing her workouts since the late eighties. When her show "It Figures" went off the air in the early nineties, I was devastated, but I loaded up on her videos and have been pleased.

Then, I discovered Cathe on FitTV. I wasn't used to using the 6 inch step or going at the faster rate. (Charlene's step videos are slower and much more methodical.) The more I do of Cathe's, however, the more I'm getting hooked.

I still like to do Charlene's tapes for the variety, and I agree Crazy for Step is the toughest and probably the most interesting.

Hi Valpak -
I was wondering if you tried Kelley Coffey-Meyer's other workout - "The step of things to come" I beleive it is called. It is a cardio with weights. I also relly like her 1st workout "Get ready, Step, Go" and was wondering if this workout is good too!!
