I have to admit I still love the Peanuts Christmas cartoons along with the classics Rudolph and Frosty. But my most favorite Movie is " The Christmas Box" I love that it is so sentimental.
I love 'It's A Wonderful Life' and have to watch it every holiday season. Also, more current required Christmas viewing includes 'While You Were Sleeping' and 'Home Alone'. As far as TV cartoon specials, my all time favorite is 'Year Without A Santa Claus'. I love the snow and heat miser songs and those can get stuck in my head for days!
One movie that they seem to show every year is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which I don't get at all. In fact, I find the whole movie kind of wierd and the guy who plays the Child Catcher gave me nightmares as a kid. Even as an adult I still think he's way creepy. How can viewing this movie create warm holiday feelings while my skin is crawlingx( .
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation ("oh dear, did I break wind?")
It's a Wonderful Life ("I wish I had a million dollars -- hot dog!")
A Christmas Story ("You'll shoot your eye out!")
Another fun thread! I also love those mentioned... my all time favs... Rudolph and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. My daddy and I watched the Grinch every year together for over 30 years... this was my first year to watch it without him but my 3 year old eased my sadness. This is the first year she has been into Christmas, and she LOVED the Grinch. It was sooo fun!
I like:
Annabelle's Wish
Rudolph
Frosty
Scrooge
A year without a santa claus with snow and heat miser!
Santa Claus is coming to town.
Jack Frost
Tangerine Bear
Miracle on 34th street
I saw one the other day with Adam Sadler called "Eight Crazy Nights", funny!
How the Grinch STole Chirstmas is a classic. As well as the Charlie Brown Christmas (Which by the way is on ABC at 7 tonight). I also Like a Miracle on 34th Street, another good one. Same with a Chirstmas Story. There are really a lot of good Christmas movies that either bring back great memories of childhood, or are just great movies in general. Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman are yet even more that I can think of that I really like to watch.
It's a tradition for me with most of these movies to watch them at this time of year when they play on tv.
Thanks for the heads up on Charlie Brown. I love all these classics too. Does anyone remember Emmett Otters Jugband Christmas?... it was on HBO I think. I haven't seen it in years but enjoyed it. I just love anything Christmas. The thread on Christmas songs inspired me to visit Amazon.com and make a purchase.
Funny you mentioned the tradition of watching these. I have a few on video but it isn't the same as cathching them on TV.
"A Charlie Brown Christmas"
"Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer"
"The Little Drummer Boy"
"It's A Wonderful Life"
"A Christmas Story"
"Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol" (the one with Alastair Sim)
"How the Grinch Stool Christmas" (both live and animated versions)
"Christmas Vacation"
"Scrooged" (Bill Murray)
"Prancer"
"Home Alone"
"Home Alone 2"

I always loved "A Christmas Story". Darren McGavin as the father just has me rolling on the floor with laughter.
I love the classic Rankin/Bass movies like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Year Without a Santa Claus". "Friends call me heat meiser. Whatever I touch, starts to melt in my clutch. TOOO MUCH." LOL!! Remember that song?

Hubby & I love National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation! We laugh (I cry) when they have the sled ride scene and also the squirrel on Chevy Chases back is soooo funny. He is running from the squirrel not KNOWING it is on his back. I laugh til I have to run to the bathroom. Too, too funny! :7

Rudolph!!!! As a matter of fact, my youngest daughter just bought me that movie on DVD and brought it to me for a surprise the other night! When my daughters were little we would always watch that, bake cookies and drink hot chocolate. Ahhh.....memories :+
It's not Christmas until I've seen "Muppet Christmas Carol". It is my all-time favorite...sometimes I'll even watch it in July! "Elf" was also hilarious. Both are for the whole family which is a plus.
