Egg Recall Due to Salmonella

Hmmm, I think most raw eggs have some salmonella, especially those from "modern" egg-producing factories. I guess these had more than the usual amount. You really do have to be very careful with raw eggs- cleaning surfaces that they have touched really well, not eating eggs raw, etc.

I looked at your list. We might be okay, then. :D Maybe we shouldn't eat those Lucerne eggs...

I wonder if, even with the extra salmonella, cooking the eggs thoroughly would eliminate the risk. Hm.

I asked our resident germ guy (my husband). He said it really depends on certain things. Then he listed a bunch of stuff, but I forgot it all. :p The conclusion, however, was that cooking these eggs will not necessarily protect you.

If your eggs are on the list, take them back to the store.

Another layer of the veil unwrapping on how our food supply is being handled.

I'm now getting my eggs from a neighbor who has free range chickens. We trade. I give her my homemade soap or homemade wild yeast sourdough bread for her eggs. Fair trade if you ask me.

That's a wonderful idea Janie! Wish I had that option! Of course, our eggs up here are okay, so far. I'm watching the list like a hawk!

thanks so much that's the detailed list i needed.
does the risk go down if we buy other types of eggs at the store? organic, free range, cage free? we use the link card and the food budget is limited.
