Does anyone still rollerblade?

Is rollerblading passe? Tres 90s?

I'm very motivated to try new kinds of outdoor exercise that's not biking, walking, and or running. I hike/walk with my dog and I can't do the running thing 'cos it hurts the bottom of my feet - Plantar's fascitis, I guess.

Anyway, what do you know?

Thanks!

I have a good friend who rollerblades all Summer, and I still see plenty of rollerbladers when the weather warms up. I'm considering lacing up myself.

Well, I bought K2 rollerblades back in the late 90's and think I used them a total of 5 times in the last 15+ years. I finally gave them away. BUT, I wanted to do something! so I went to Skates.com and purchased a pair of these Quadline roller skates!

they are really cool and have a wider base for stability because my ankles killed me using inline skates... I haven't used them much either, but I really don't have anywhere to "practice" where a fall wouldn't do some serious damage to my body parts! but I really am going to do it someday soon!

I think that if you enjoy it, do it!

Definitely! DH and I grab our rollerblades and hit the park after work in the summertime. Rollerbladers are out all year here, but you see more in the warm weather. The other day I was walking in the park and saw this woman rollerblading and she had the most amazing legs ever!!!! Definitely time to get those suckers out!

The problem where I live is there are no trails that are paved well enough for rollerblading safely. I used to do laps in a wide-open paved space behind a once-new space grocery store. Then, one day, I hit a little bitty pebble and went down fast and hard. Luckily, I had sense enough to twist my body so I didn't smack down on my knees. But I just lost interest after that. If we had really good trails, though, and I could find a pair that would fit around my obscenely wide calves, I'd go back to it. It was fun and a killer glute/ham workout.

I rollerblade all the time spring-fall. I love it.
There are inline marathons and 1/2 marathons, etc, so I think it´s here to stay! Last year my DD19, her friend and I did a 1/2 marathon together and it was great fun. I think DD17 will join us this year. Try it!

I do and I love it! Well, I was doing it last summer before I was preggo. I plan to do it again once I birth this baby!

In the spirit of trying new outdoor activities, do you have a local rowing club? I used to row with mine and I loved it. I would still do it if I didn't have other things taking my time right now (read: elderly family members). Rowing is great exercise and there's nothing like being out on the water. My club has an 8 week learn to row program every summer. If it interests you, you could see if there's something similar in your area. If not, it sounds like rollerblading is still in!
