Do you use a bosu?

I can get a really good deal on one, and frankly I'm trying to talk myself out of the purchase as my SO already thinks I have a Serious Problem with fitness acquisitions. I'm wondering how much use I might get out of it.... any insights? If you have one, how do you use it? Does it allow you to do a lot of step minus the impact??

Marie

I have one but I rarely use it. It's more for functional fitness than the traditional routine I have & when I do use it it's for a light core workout, not for cardio.

But you might really like it Marie--it could very well fit in nicely w/your fluidity & yoga stuff.

I love my bosu! I actually prefer to use it for my cardio workouts and then for some abs. The balance it requires to stay up there when doing cardio has really gotten my core in amazing condition. I like to use it for high impact moves too.

I love mine also. Mostly use it for cardio. It's fun cuz it's bouncy and it does take the impact out. It's also pretty high up so I get a very good cardio session in. The ab segments I've done on it have been pretty difficult. My fave cardio is Seasun's Bosu Blast off of CIA Double Cardio and the one with Rob Glick, Calorie Combustion is decent also...but not like Seasun's!

I don't have one but I would like one. I have used it in PT mostly for balance and strengthening my ankles and knees. Apparently it helps you with stabilization. Right now a bosu for me is out of the question because we have a tiny apt and DH would flip a lid if I bought one. Though I keep joking about ordering one }( . Maybe once we get a house I might take the plunge, but I am worried it is a piece of equipment that the novelty would wear off quickly and would collect dust.

Karin, if price is a factor, you might be interested to know you can get one for 79.99 at gnc.com, and then use coupon code SPECIAL44 for another 20% off PLUS free shipping!

I just bought one. :+ :p

Marie, Thanks so much for the tip. I just bought one from GNC and it will be here in 6-10 days. I think I will have to work up to the exercises shown on youtube though....lol!!

Marie, DH gave me the green light on the BOSU. I am so excited. Really, I think that I just beat him down }( . I did some justification with using it for my knee PT exercises too. I am off to order mine. Thanks for the code.

I've had mine for maybe 2 months now. I love doing Cardio Blast on it. I haven't used it as much as I thought I would but that's because I've acquired new workouts that I've rec'd in trades and that have been given to me that I'm currently doing a lot. I want to work on it more and actually find "strength" and balance moves to be WAY more difficult than doing cardio on my bosu. Cardio Blast has an awesome ab routine that utilizes the bosu. I also have Reactive Strength and Power. I don't like the workout, low music and not very good music, but helpful to learn balance and sculpting moves using the bosu. I'm also debating ordering Tracey Staehle's Sculpting workout which utilizes the bosu and Amy Bento has stated that she is not ruling out making a bosu workout in the future. I will definitely use the bosu more if my favorite instructors start making workouts incorporating the bosu. Also, here is a website giving "free" mini workout ideas for the bosu that you may find helpful if you do breakdown and purchase:

I couldn't get the video's to work today, but I've used them with no problems in the past. Have fun!

I bought the bosu on sale from gnc.com a couple weeks ago and really like it! My dh uses it, too, for weight work & such. I use it with the Seasun Zieger Bosu Blast, which is fun and challenging. Sure wish there were some more cardio workouts for it (advanced ones), because I would snap those up!

Angela, I am sure that I will like the BOSU. I was really trying to wait to purchase it until we buy a house this spring/summer, but I couldn't pass up that deal.

I saw the discount and I couldn't resist either. I already have the Seasun dvd, but where can I get Rob's at a good price???

I use it to do pop over push ups at the gym. It kicks butt!

The bosufitness website buffers the videos but won't play them. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!
