Does anyone know of a good dance dvd? something that is low impact and fun, and something that makes you sweat. I would like to find something that is fun and not hard on the joints. While I love the step, my knees start to ache. Is turbo jam or zumba good? Thanks chrissy

You might get some good responses on Open Discussion too, but all I know is that the Firm has a couple dance type workouts that can be low impact. (My sister has one or two.)

I'm not sure if Zumba is low impact but when I see people leaving a Zumba workout they're always very sweaty! I think that's gym only but I'm not sure.

I know there are a lot of people here who really like turbo jam and a couple who really don't like it. ;) Of course! HTH

Turbo Jam also mixes some kickboxing but it has a very big "dance club" atmosphere. You might be able to find some clips somewhere. This series seems to be hit and miss with people. I had the series in 2005 before switching to Cathe and I enjoyed them but I just naturally prefer gym style workouts.

Beachbody also has another instructor, Shaun T, who specializes in dance. His programs are Hip Hop Abs and the '80s-influenced Rockin' Body. From what I've read, these programs are easier than Turbo Jam--those are int./adv. but can be modified to low impact.

You might also be interested in bellydance which can mostly be done low impact. There are a lot of workouts around and some, like Rania's, can be found pretty inexpensively.

I hope this helps some.

I have Turbo Jam and I like it, although I don't LOVE it. It's a nice change of pace workout- like someone said, it is kickboxing but in a club like atmosphere. It's fun and full of good energy. It can be done low impact and I definitely get a good cardio workout from it. HTH!

I've never thought of looking On Demand..hmmmm..great idea! (whoever suggested that)

So who is going to admit with me that they still have Paula Abdul's Get Up and Dance workout?? lol I'm sorry, but I think it's so much fun! I still pull it out now and again for sh*ts and giggles....:p

I'll admit it. I still have it. I don't do it very often now but I really liked it when I first got it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do not have cable on demand so that is not an option. I just found turbo jam on amazon for under $15. So I purchased that. I really just want it as a filler. Nothing beats Cathe! My knees ask for a break every now and then, and I have to admit I don't usually reach for the regular step routines (like step blast and rhythmic step). I like the HI ones, like IMAX2, drill max, IMAX extreme.

I still have 2 jane fonda tapes. I can't remember off the top of my head which ones, one of them is the advanced and a guy leads it, another has another girl leading she looks like a doll. I still have a blast when I do them. (but they are also rough on my knees and achilles!) LOL

I had a couple of Jane's on VHS and they really are tough on the joints. I think one was lead by Jane in a blue outfit and two other women... I don't remember the other workouts. They were fun but I had to laugh at the outfits.

I just got a 4 pack of Zumba DVDs for my bday. Have only watched the intro one but it looks like lots of fun and my DD takes the class and loves it.

I had Jane Fonda's advanced workout led by Peter and I did it every day one summer and lost about 30 pounds (along with diet). I remember thinking it was the hardest workout ever, but it doesn't compare with Cathe's advanced workouts. It had some funny moments my mom and I still laugh about....we had every word memorized!

Yes, that is the one I have too. I used to know all the words too.
ROCK THAT BABY!! that's the one line I can think of off the top of my head.

The Firm Cardio Fusion is fun dance video

Try the Firm Cardio Fusion. When I need a break from Cathe's intensity, but still want a slid, low impact workout I do this one. The dancing is just challenging enough to be interesting, but easy enough to catch on and do most of the steps in the first run through. It's fun, low impact and while I am not a dancer I always, sorta feel like one when I do it. A solid video that i go back to every couple weeks...
