Damage Control September!!!

Diana, speaking of spaghetti squash....I literally blew up my microwave trying to soften one up on Monday morning. Yikes-blew the door open and squash everywhere. I poked it, but it must not have been deep enough. It was 20 years old, and would not start again no matter where we plugged it in. That's one way to get rid of old stuff, right?! I'm on a mission today to declutter.

Hi ladies,

This morning I did BR Day 4 and at lunch I did STS disc-2-Back & Triceps. My work schedule has really picked up and is interfering with my workout times. Tomorrow will be Disc 3-Legs, and hopefully the happy hour boot camp class at the gym.

Beth-my spaghetti squash blew up in the microwave too. :) I usually put in the microwave for 5 minutes to soften it up enough to cut in half. This was a smaller one, but unfortunately for me-I forgot to adjust the time. :) Happy Decluttering!

LL-???

Hi Tina...

TGIF Ladies,

Today I did STS Disc 3-legs, walk 55 minutes at lunch, and hit the Happy Hour Bootcamp after work! Feeling accomplished!

What's everyone else up to?

Hi all,

Self diagnosis: sciatic nerve pain from inflammation in my low back. I'm doing minimal lower body now until this feels better. Thursday was the warm up and shoulder workout from ICE and then abs. Friday was a 40 minute easy walk around town. So...I'm taking a few (weeks/months) off I think from anything too tough. I may even start doing some laps in the pool just for something different. I promise not to complain too much!! I'm going to be reading a lot, decluttering, and meal prepping. My weight has dropped back after vacation and I'd like to maintain it again.

Hi Ladies,

Today is or 28yr anniversary! We decided to go to breakfast instead of dinner. So after I did BR day 5, we went to Mimi's for breakfast. I had a bacon, mushroom, & brie omelette with a side of fruit, latte, and a blueberry muffin. I logged into myfitness pal...almost a 1,000 calories.

I hope to do STS disc 4-CSB later, but no promises. DH and I watched a movie and I've got laundry going...not much else going on today.

Beth-oh no, sciatic pain. I hope you feel better soon. I should do some laps in the pool too. I'm hoping to do a couple triathlons next year. This de-cluttering is never done.

Happy Saturday!

Hi Ladies,

This morning I did BR RTC Day #7 and STS disc 4-CSB. Next up is mowing the lawn, grocery shopping and dinner.

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend!

Hi all,

Diana, you got a lot done this weekend! I worked and Sat. came home and did ICE chest premix. Today I did the bicep premix. They are both about a half an hour. Afterwards I started working on learning PRS1. As of today I can do the warm up and most of the first combo. I'm doing it really low impact to let my back heal:eek:. It worked out to about 10 minutes of combo learning each day. I'm trying not to go crazy. Do you think biking would be ok?

Hi Ladies,

Mondays Suck! I'm literally tethered to my computer by my headset for back to back meetings all day. My day started early and there was no lunch or afternoon w/o time available. I started my day with a banana and teaspoon of sunbutter, between meetings a grabbed a giant spoon of peanut butter, lunch was grilled chicken breast smothered with green chile, snack was a quest bar....later a protein shake. I think I'm over on my calories and fat for today. To eliminate this from happening tomorrow, I steamed some cauliflower and brussels sprouts. DS2 grilled chicken breasts for me so those just need to be re-heated. Looking forward to a better tomorrow.

DH walked around the block with me. It's a start and that is the first time he has ever done this. I hope he does it again tomorrow. I did get my 10K steps in tonight after work. That is all that is happening today.

Beth-I hope your back is feeling better. Have you considered just using the step without any risers? Or perhaps even a mat as the step. My tri training partner with the hip issues-her Dr. told her to try riding her bike and if it didn't cause any pain to go ahead. He said each person and injury are different, so you won't know unless you try.

Hi to LL and Tina!

Hi all,

Diana, I'm sorry to hear about you chained to your desk. I can kind of empathize, because I get "chained" to the med cart during most of my shift-unless some crisis is happening, of course! I'm so glad to hear your DH went for a walk. We all start somewhere. Do you guys have a dog? I want one now so bad after dog sitting DS2's pup. I loved walking her.

My back-kept me up last night. I don't know what to do. I am officially not working out though for 14 days. I know I have to keep moving, but, I need to work more than workout so I'm going to just work and rest and take Tylenol since nsaids chew up the lining in my stomach. If it's not better in two weeks, I'm going to the doctor for advice. The last time I took two weeks was when I fell off my bike when the dog hit me. I survived...I'll survive these two weeks, right? I'm eating super clean and that will be my check in with you all instead of exercising. So far today I've had:

fritatta, 2 baked apples with whole 30 granola, coffee, water, collagen, tea, whole30 trail mix combo, whole30 chili, and a banana. Dinner is the one pot chicken cabbage bowl. Naturally book club was changed to tonight so I'll have to have a tad of whatever goodie is put out. I've been meal prepping and stretching and icing/heating my back. As I cut back on exercise I think the food intake will drop-rereading this it seems like I ate a lot and it's not even dinner time yet! Oh, and I started Harper Lee's Go Set a Watchman last night. It's so good to see what Scout is up to!

I'll be back later to post the rest of my food. I really, really want to eat as clean as possible and rest! Thanks for the support and "listening" to me.

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday I did BR RTC Day #8 and LIHI Legs as my extra leg day. On tap for today is BR Day 9 and STS disc 5-B&T. I hope to complete meso 1 (doing each disc twice) before heading to San Diego on the Oct 8th.

My MIL and I are going to San Diego next month to visit DS1. I'm so excited!!!

Last night I went to the transformation challenge meeting. They have weekly meetings but I missed the first one. Our coach talked about coming up with 5 "I am" statements and to write them down each day. They can be personal, financial, fitness, spiritual goals etc. Our homework was to choose 2 habits we would like to change, and determine 2 of our favorite protein snacks and share them in our FB group. One of my habits I'd like to change is my PB addiction. It's just something quick and easy that I can grab before I work out or between meetings. It doesn't upset my stomach like eating a banana or yogurt does before my w/o.

Beth-I'm sorry your back is still bothering you. My DH said not to wait for 2 weeks, and he's suffered with sciatica, bulging discs, etc. Good luck with your clean eating, I'm happy to join you on that. I'm going to try to make some whole30 recipes this weekend. I do have to measure and track everything though. Per my coach, if you can't grow it or kill it, you can't eat it. No processed food. They say to eat more carbs in the morning, less at lunch, and veggies and meat for dinner.

I may go sooner than two weeks. It hurt to stretch yesterday-so I stopped. Really, the only thing that seems to help is rest and heat. I gave up eating any dinner. So eating from 5A to 5P (fruit and trail mix after work snack). I'm maintaining.

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday was BR RTC Day 10. Then I ended up with terrible headache and nauseous. I took my migraine meds and rested at lunch instead of doing another w/o. I didn't feel very well the rest of the day and ended up going to bed early. Today was BR Day 11 and the Happy Hour class at the gym.

Beth-how is your back doing? I hope you feel better soon!

Hi to LL and Tina-what are you ladies up to?

Hi all,

Not much new here. Working some extra hours since I can't workout. I'm trying to stay busy-reading two books, making a capsule wardrobe, decluttering, meal prepping, watching too much tv, and trying not to worry about not working out! Diana, I just saw an ad for BR and it looks fabulous! No wonder you do it so much. I made an appt. to see the doc on Monday morning. Besides the back issue my stomach is bleeding from the ibuprofen. I should know better, but I thought if I took the ibuprofen with enough food and water that I'd be ok. It didn't work out that way. Anyway, I'll let you know what the doc's plan is on Monday.

Have a great weekend.

Beth

Ladies,

Yesterday was a crazy busy work day. I finally managed to get my workouts in later in the day. I did BR Day 12-legs and STS Disc 6-legs. Today is another crazy busy day so I will be doing a shorter cardio and then disc 7-CSB at some point today. It may be tonight before I can get to it. I've been doing double w/o's for the last 2 weeks and the scale isn't moving. I can see some visual changes though and am just going to keep working.

This is day 3 of no peanut butter or anything of the like. I don't believe peanut butter or any nut butter is bad, I simply eat way too much of it. I'm hoping to refrain from eating for the duration of this challenge. It is also the cause of my fat macro to be so high. This isn't easy for me.

Beth-what did the Dr. say?

Hi to LL & Tina

Hi all,

No workouts to report here. I ended up getting x rays which showed no fractures in my back/hip/pelvis area, but did show arthritis in my neck. Not what I expected. I'm glad the lower bones are ok for now. So it's probably inflammation-won't know until I finish a course of prednisone and some physical therapy. Work has been horrible-walking hurts, pushing the med cart hurts. Today was long and frustrating. I came home and took a pain pill and used the heating pad. I am trying to come to terms with this. I may have to change my whole workout mindset. We'll see. One day at a time.

On the plus side, I'm getting lots of reading in, there are good soccer matches on all week, and I'm eating well.

Diana, you are probably getting toned from the double workouts! From what Cathe says, shorter, more intense cardio will be good in the long run, so a shorter workout will be fine tonight. I am finding I'm not missing dairy or grains at alls. I have had beans a few times, but am focusing on protein (eggs, chicken, fish, bison) and veggies. Fruit and nuts are snacks. I finally lost some of my appetite on Sunday. It took a few days to catch up to my not working out!

Tina and LL, what are you up to?

Beth

Hi all! Been doing my workouts did all the blizzard blasts and most of the meltdowns. I'm working thru the I think 2015 workouts and TTM(did last Thursday) and CF. Saturday was X10 low impact and this morning was PRS1 I did Bis and tris 1-5 with core from XTrain somewhere back there.[emoji4] I will either do GG, LLA or more XTrain wts.

Busy with getting into the groove with school and co ops! Trying to keep up with posts!

Beth- sorry about your back. I hope you get some relief!

Diana- so exciting you're going to San Diego!

Hi Ladies,

This morning I did BR Day 1, a 45 minute w/o. Lunch was Disc 7-CSB. Goodness, I'm really pushing on the shoulder and bicep weight. This is day 3 of no peanut butter (and day 3 of using herbalife rebuild instead of my protein shake) and I was down a pound at my weigh in tonight. I really dislike weighing at night.

Tina-an X-ray doesn't show nerves, don't you need an MRI to see if it is sciatica or the sciatic nerve? Definitely take care of yourself. Hopefully the PT will help. I've gone to PT several times for my knee and once for my bicep tendinitis. Every time was worth it as I did get relief. I doesn't sound like working extra hours is helping. I'm so sorry you are in so much pain. Have you considered a chiropractor or massage? I'm not sure if that will help if you are suffering from inflammation though.

LL-you're back!!! I'm sure you are super busy with school. I can't even imagine. You are rockin' the workouts, great job!!

Tina tina....can you hear me?

Diana- I feel like I'm drowning. And need to figure this out:
Monday:home all day for school, alternating weeks for soccer and baseball practice for B
Tuesday: driving back and forth to co op (GHS) 20 min away twice and the. Have 2 hours at home before leaving for Awana 30 min away, Awana started last night.
Wednesday: drive older 3 to SALT, drive back home with Little K for kindergarten time then back to SALT BY Noon to pick them up, try to do schoolwork in the afternoon, and have dinner early by 5 to get B to baseball practice by 5:30, pick up and also pick up JTrain at church (if can't find a more local friend to carpool with) from youth group. This alternates middle and high school every week.
Thursday: drive younger 3 to GHS, run errands or go home to work on budget/bills. Then take JTrain back to GHS.
Friday: home day
Weekends: baseball and soccer games. This weekend baseball and soccer conflict on Saturday so baseball always wins and 2 games after church on Sunday.

I need to get up early to workout. Today I didn't get up early enough. I hope to get it in tonight but I still need to bathe Little K and make sure the others are ready for GHS tomorrow. It's exhausting. I really hope I don't burn out.
