Damage Control March!!!

Last Monday was X10 premix 38 and STS M1D4, Tuesday I woke up with the flu, so no workouts until Friday. Managed STS M1D5 and STS MB abs on Friday afternoon, Satuday was a rest day and Sunday was M1D6 and just the ball portion of ICE TTM. Yesterday was M1D7. I'm still not ready for cardio yet. It was so tough to see DH go out for two long bike rides over the weekend. The weather was beautiful here. On the chicken front, the old hen passed away and the mother hen is back in the coop. It looks like one of the chicks is a rooster, but I think we have a home for it when it gets bigger. We have three roosters in the coop already, they would never allow a fourth.

LL, happy belated birthday to you! I hope it was a good one. :)

Beth, I just cut a ton of hair off too. It feels so much better and I no longer have to rip through the knots after a shower. I've never heard of either books you mentioned. I'll have to take a look at them. Our book club was thankfully postponed until next week, I'm still trying to finish reading the book for this month. Are you nervous about DS being on spring break? It seems I never stop worrying about my two, even though their adults now.

Diana, funny how we're back to a similar rotation with STS. I'm trying to add in an extra leg day too. Today will be LLA or GG. I'll do STS legs on Thursday. I think DH is starting to get sick, so I may be on my own the rest of this week for STS. You should have heard me cussing through all the push ups during disc 7 last night. What kind of mattress did you get? I'm sure we need a new one, but I love our Sterns and Foster mattress, it's so comfortable. When are you going to see your GD's again?

BBL to check in on everyone. :)

Hi Ladies,

Well no workout to report for yesterday...I was literally on my butt all day long for meetings. This morning I did Lowmax (counting this as my extra leg day this week, and at lunch I did Disc 8-Back & triceps. I'm getting close to finishing the BR 30 day rotation but plan on starting it again. If I don't follow it consistently, the lower belly flab reappears. I'm already starting to see it since not being consistent with those w/o's.

I cleaned out my coffee mugs and DH is taking them to work! I have 2 bags of clothes to donate, just waiting on DS2 as he said he had some clothes to get rid of too.

All my numbers came back good from my physical. I'm down almost 25#'s from 4 years ago when I first started going to this Dr. I'm still not where I should be, but am happy with how my clothes fit and mostly with how I look. He said it was my lowest weight to date for him. That sounded pretty good to me! Of course I started seeing him when I was at my highest weight ever.

LL-Happy belated birthday!!! Many folks love Cathe on Demand. I think that is a better than the downloads. I learned the hard way that the downloads don't have the premixes. I have Daily Burn on demand and it works great with my chromecast.

Tina-sounds like you are on the mend. Roosters....oh my. You and your love for all animals! How is going with the dog walking/boarding business? Are you still working on that? I too am about ready to cut off my hair, it's way too long for this old broad. Funny you should mention my GD's. I fly out on Friday to bring them here for spring break! They make my heart happy! I might try to figure out how to post a pic of them. DS2 is going to have to move my desk to the basement for next week. DS1 has them M/F, I have them Tues, and DH has them Wed/Thurs. I'm sure the time will fly. I'm trying to find out when the pool is open, I think they might like that. Our mattress is a tempur-pedic and better be good, it cost $4500.

Beth-1 cabinet down, more to go! It is nice de-cluttering and being more organized. I have a whole house to work through, and it doesn't help that DH wants to save stuff. We replaced the hinges on the bathroom doors when we refinished them, he seriously saved the old ones. UGH. We just got rid of a water bed, and he's saving the heaters...GGGRRRR.

Tina, sorry about getting the flu! That stinks! Glad you feeling better to be back at it! I miss X10! Doing Boot Camp classes makes me feel like I should do more weights on my days off. Like today I did STS Total Body premix lower body 22 min.

Beth, I like PUB a lot, good for you for doing the whole thing! I don't have the patience for hour long workouts anymore.

Diana, it looks like you are getting really organized! I thought of you today when I was trying to find a mug, behind all my random cups! We have too many of both! How many push ups does she do in STS? We tend to do them for 30 seconds but I don't remember how many I get in during that time. Lately it's been part of the warm up so its only 2 rounds.

I still haven't decided whether or not I'm going to join Boot Camp yet. I need to find out what I'll be gaining once I join: more nutritional help? Weigh ins? Body fat check ( I know this one is in there). And is there a fee to quit if after 3 mo I feel like it's not working...

Hi all,

Well, I guess I'm officially done with the rotation-haven't been able to keep up and have felt like just doing what I want to do. So yesterday after 10 hours at work I ended up doing the standing leg premix from Lower Body Blast. It was 49 minutes and just right! Today I don't feel like doing anything. Work is frustrating at times and saps a lot of energy. I know I'll feel better if I do something so might just rest awhile and do something short and "fun"-Cardio Supersets has been calling to me lately. I don't know if I'll do the Ice/RWH rotation or any rotation in the near future.

LL, it sounds like you really like Boot Camp. Maybe going somewhere just for you is what you need! It's early and then you've had a good workout in for the day. Weigh ins and extra stuff sounds like it'd be nice, too. For some reason, PUB never feels too long to me. It's probably my favorite weight workout-I've even done it if I'm at a gym and am trying to figure out a routine to do. I know it by heart! Plus it has 0 pushups (just the warm up ones) so I really like it!

Tina and Diana, you are rocking STS! You'll be done Meso 1 in no time!

Diana, we've had our Temperpedic for 20 years and love it. It makes going on vacation hard sometimes because it is so comfortable. We have yet to replace it.

DS2 made it home from Mexico!!! He really had his eyes opened to another country and said he'd tell us all about next time we see him. He's so mature....DS1 is planning on making a plan to figure out what to do after he graduates. They are so different. Tina, can you have more than 1 rooster in the yard? I thought they fought? Maybe not.

Beth

Beth, I have Lower Body Blast but have never done it! Is it fun? I haven't done Supersets in a while that push up/sit up combo scares me!

Hi Ladies,

Today I did BR Day 26 in the am and STS disc 9-Back & Triceps at lunch. I hope to get in my 10K steps today, it'll be close. I didn't go walk since I had to run to the store. Tomorrow will be cardio TBD and hopefully disc 10-CST. Doing double w/o's T/W/TH since Monday ended up being a rest day and I'll be on a plane most of the day on Friday.

I'm trying to add a few step w/o's each week as they really help me reach my 10K steps for the 10. Stepping gives me a good head start anyway.

LL-Meso 1 is the only one with pushups, and Meso 2 is my favorite. I should be able to start meso 2 sometime next week. My BR w/o's are very similar to your bootcamp class. Are you noticing any changes? My body responds well to these types of w/o's! It's a slow process of decluttering, but if I don't do it, no one else will. It would go so much faster if I could get my family on board. As we get older, I'm trying to get to the point that we just have what we need/use, instead of a house full of clutter. When the kids were younger, I simply didn't have the time to do any of clean out.

Beth-Does your DS1 graduate this year? What's his degree in? My boys are so different too. DS1 is organized and timely, never late, always prepared etc. DS2 is a procrastinator, late to work, doesn't take life to seriously, job hops (because he can't get their on time). He's doing a bit better now, but could definitely improve. OMG, DS3 is almost a hoarder...you can barely get into is room through all his stuff/junk etc. He is timely, considerate, sensitive etc.....he just keeps everything. I think I will give him 4 boxes and tell him he can keep whatever fits in those boxes, the rest has to go. Oh, DH and I told him we found a queen size bed for him, all he needs to do is clean out his under-dresser and headboard so we could list his bed for sale....he hasn't done anything.

waving hi to Tina. :)

Diana, your de cluttering sounds great! Some day! I don't know if I really see any difference. My arms are still pretty well defined, but I can't fir into my "fat" jeans, let alone the ones I want to wear. And the scale went down only because of the stomach bug, but then went back up again last weekend due to bday cake and pizza. [emoji17]

Not sure I'll get a wo in today. I was up most of the night helping Little K hover over the bucket, and the stomach bug returns. So my fit bit says I only got 5 hrs and 22 min of sleep. I will probably do math JTrain, do reading with all and then nap.

I did the Boot Camp class last night. I'm starting to feel like I really want to join now! They are doing a challenge:

****ATTENTION CAMPERS****

We are going to have our first group challenge!!!

Hi Ladies,

Today I pulled out an oldie that caught my eye yesterday, Rhythmic Step! What a fun w/o. Do any of you have this oldie but goodie? I did have a few missteps, but most of came back to me. At lunch was next sts disc-csb. It was disc 10, so the pushups are behind me now!!! To be completely honest, I skipped a couple of the pushup segments, I just wasn't feelin' it today.

No workout tomorrow, flying most of the day. I'm so excited to see my little girls!! My cousin from Wyoming texted me that they are in town for a baseball tournament. I hope to meet up with them tomorrow night for dinner.

LL-My gym does challenges all year long. They are all $35 with prized similar to yours. My cousin and her husband just completed the new year challenge, they came in 1st and 3rd and won over $600!!! They provide so much more than most personal trainers. We have to complete a food log (myfitnesspal), provide toes on the scale weight twice a week, workouts and facebook checkin. If you are interested, you should do it. I say go for it...this seems to working very well for you!!!! Keep it up!!

Hi Beth and Tina!!

Diana, I have it! That was one of the first Cathe who's I've ever done. Love it! It's been a while tho, I just don't do hour long workouts much anymore. It does sound similar. They have a menu plan (scared and excited about that!), weigh in at the beginning and end and body fat. Test self on burpees and two others, then again at the end. It's all promotional not 15 burpees in a min compared to someone else in a min. What Cathe workouts would you compare to this type? RWH plyo, low impact, super cuts, hiit, tabatcise, afterburn, TTM, CF?

Hi all!

Diana, you must be back home now and enjoying your visit with the girls!!! Sounds like you will all have time to spend with them. Enjoy! I have Rhythmic Step but have not done it for quite a while. It is a fun one! Did you see your cousin? Yay for finishing Meso 1-Meso 2 is much more fun and not as time consuming. Yay too for keeping off those 25 pounds and having a good physical. Did your doctor talk you into a colonoscopy? I am resisting. I had one about 10 years ago for pain in my abdomen and don't think another is something I want to go through. I think I'm getting to the point where I'll just let nature take it's course.

DS 2 does graduate in May! Future to be determined at this point. We're not rushing him out of the house...he's rather routine oriented and change is hard for him. For example-he doesn't transition from pants to shorts anymore-he just wears pants all year. DS2 wants to stay at Penn State and work there for the summer. He's trying to convince me to pay for a summer class for him...We'll see.

LL, you sound so excited about the Bootcamp at the gym. Maybe it's just what you need at this time-accountability and support. Did you decide yet if you're going to do it? Maybe you need something new and different from at home workouts for a while. I've gone through phases where I do the gym a lot-when I'm injured usually. Also, there have been times where almost all my workouts were biking. I don't think I'll do that again, though. As much as I like biking with DH, the traffic scares me and I know I need to weight train.

Also, Lower Body Blast is fun. I do it the way I like it, with the weights I can handle. The last standing exercise is barbell static lunges-pure killer after all that comes before it. I usually drop the barbell and use dumbbells-and get a great workout! It's contrast training-some weights, then cardio and starts with a cardio segment to get you in fat burning territory. I like it. It has good premixes, too. Try it!!

Tina, what are you up to? How are the animals? Sorry to hear you got the flu. When I've gotten it, it knocks me down for a week. Rest up!

Yesterday I did LIS Upper Body Triset and today was X10-Hi/Lo, Cardio Blast, and Fat Burning. It felt good to workout hard today. Tomorrow is a planned 12 hour day at work and rest-unless the girl I asked to work for me for the last 4 hours decides she'll do it...fingers crossed!

Monday I'll be cleaning and baking for book club. One of the members is allergic to cats so I really have to vacuum a lot!

Beth

Hi Beth! Sound like you really had a great workout today!! X10 has been calling to me lately! I miss some of the cardio/HiiT workouts of Cathe's. But I've been doing the Boot Camp so much that on my off days, I want to do weights. But I did something the last couple of times and my tail bone really hurts! I think it's the Russian Twists! Basically you're sitting on the floor, leaning back, flat back, feet up and twist, hands need touch the floor each twist! Super hard for me, my back hurts and now my tail bone! Today I did 15 burpees in the 30 second interval! A new record for me! There is a girl there who motivates me, she got 17!

I told Hubby I wanted to do it, but he said he I need to do the budget and make sure it works. Well, we paid off our $700+ medical bill that we had been chipping away at for months. So that frees up some of the budget.

Hi Ladies,

Well did I have an adventure on Friday. First, it was a blizzard out and it took twice as long as normal to get to the airport. It was a very scary and treacherous drive even in DH's big 4WD truck. My flight took off 50 minutes late due to all the planes lined up for de-icing. Thankfully, the girls mom was able to get my boarding pass and meet me at my gate.:) The plane to fly us back to CO had a broken defroster so it couldn't fly to Colorado with the our weather that day. I have to hand it to Southwest Airlines. They were able to fly us to Phoenix, change planes and head back to CO. I was so impressed that they actually found a solution to the problem instead of just cancelling the flight. There were a handful of folks that were still impacted as they couldn't reach the east coast from Phoenix. The majority of folks were taken care of though. On top of all that, each passenger received a $200 voucher! I plan on using the vouchers for the girls summer visit.

So I was lazy all weekend...no workout Fri/Sat/Sun. On top of that, I ate crap for the last 3 days and am up 5lbs! Hopefully some if it is just water retention (ham for dinner last night) and too many carbs. I'm back on track today! I did BR Day 29 which is legs focused and hope to get in the next STS w/o. I may go with 2 shakes a day today and maybe tomorrow to get my weight back down, along with tons of water to flush the extra water out.

LL-I hope the boot camp class works out for you! I've been keeping a much tighter budget lately since we are trying to do home updates and keep a balance in our savings (which is new for us). It's really tough too. I want to use all our savings and pay stuff off. I know from experience that as soon as I do that, the car will break down or the kids will need help with something etc. I would say any of Cathe's circuit type w/o's would be similar to your class.

Beth-well actually I have 2 more w/o's to finish up meso 1-Back & Triceps, Legs. Yes, the Dr. did talk me in to a colonoscopy. I'll be scheduling it soon. I'll keep LLB in mind, fun is good! Those are the 2 segments I do the most on X10-short but not easy! Enjoy your book club!

Tina-what are you up to? Are you feeling well enough to do any cardio?

DS will be bringing the girls tonight and they will be with us through Thursday night. I have tomorrow off to spend with them and DH is taking Wed/Th off. :)

Hi all,

I'm glad to be done the work weekend. Another nurse picked up my extra 4 hours yesterday so I was able to get a workout in! I did XTrain 's Hard Strikes followed by 100 rep lying tricep extension challenge. Today I did Gym Style Legs with 100 rep hip thrusts in between the standing and lying sections. I'm in the mood to do more weights for some reason so my weight will go up-I've got to get past that issue!

Diana, glad you made it safely back to CO-what a day! That will be a nice adventure to remember with your granddaughters for sure!

Off to get the food ready-cleaned all morning so I'm almost ready!

Have a good day...

Beth

Finally am back to 100%. Last week was STS week #3, FT, RK, PR#2 and GG. We managed two short bike rides this weekend. This week is cardio from LIS and the final week of Meso 1. Yesterday was AB and M1D10. I seem to have lost some strength in my biceps, I couldn't meet my usual weight amounts yesterday.

Diana, your flight adventure sounds terrifying! Glad you all made it home safe and sound! I keep looking at BR. Do you just do one segment a day, or do you add them on to each other as the week goes on? We really need to get a newer TV in the workout room so I can stream.

Beth, I don't know how you workout after being on your feet all day at work! Your motivation is infectious! I could never have someone to our house with allergies, the fur we deal with is mind blowing. Our poor Dyson can't seem to handle the daily vacuuming cycle. What book did you read this month? I wasn't able to finish our book for group this month. I couldn't even manage reading while I was sick. Oh well, they'll have to fill me in this week on what I missed. You must be so proud of your DS's! :)

LL, I hope you're able to find a way to take your BC classes! :)

BBL to check in on everyone. :)

Running around. Quick update: I signed up for the Boot Camp officially!! Today I did ICE Metabolic Total Body mishmosh timesaver premix.

Hi Tina, Beth and Diana!

Finished Meso 1 yesterday. I think we'll start Meso 2 on Monday, take the next few days off from lifting. I had Turbo Barre on the calendar for this morning, but I think I need some form of cardio, work off some anxiety. Next week, all the cardio will be Amy Bento. I still have yet to master all of Advanced Step Challenge #5, honestly I haven't made it past the first combo, so I'm going to work on it all next week in pieces. All of the combos we've memorized over the years must be really beneficial brain work.

Diana, how is your visit with your GD's going? They must be getting so big now. I hope you're having a blast with them. :)

Beth, how is work going? We had book group last night, which was awesome. Our books for next month are The Horse Boy and 31 Hours. What are you reading for this month?

LL, that's awesome you were able to sign up for BC. I hope you're enjoying it!

BBL to see what everyone is up to.

Tina, we're reading The Orchardist and then Fates and Furies. I'll have to look yours up to see what they're all about. My two are novels. I agree with you about mastering the step routines. Last time I did Step Blast I fumbled a bit and restarted the third combo, but it went pretty good. Good Luck with Amy's. I never could figure out much of PRS2. Every once in a while I'll add one of the sections onto PRS1, but as soon as I'm turning my back to Cathe I'm out of step and confused.

Tomorrow we're off to visit DS2-he didn't want to come home for the holiday. I can't wait to hear about his trip!

Hope the visit with your granddaughters is fun, Diana!

This week I did cardio with a 100 rep challenge (tri's), then legs with a 100 rep leg challenge, then Tues. was CBS and 100 rep bicep challenge (so my whole upper body felt sore). Wed. I rested. Today I just decided to do another cardio and a 100 rep upper body challenge. I'm thinking tabatasize and a 100 rep shoulder challenge!

Beth

Just completed ICE low impact sweat for the first time! I've done premixes. That was tough!

Beth- way to go on those 100 challenges. I have only done the hip thrust one. Maybe I will start adding them.

Tina- STS again? Your workouts always amaze me. But I did hear from my friend who told me about Boot Camp, that she runs after BC. So I wonder if BC just isn't enough?

Hi Diana!

Hi Ladies,

Not much on the workout front to report. I still have the last disc of Meso 1 to go. Tuesday I did HCLB so I could get my extra leg day and cardio at the same time. I walked while the girls rode bikes. Wednesday we had a blizzard and got 22"-24" of snow. Once it stopped blizzarding, the kids all went out and shoveled. That was also DS1's birthday and we had to postpone his birthday dinner. Thursday I did BR Day 30. Today should be cardio and the last sts disc but I'm home alone with the girls and I have to work. The temps were in the high 40's yesterday so we did get a lot of melting. We have another round of snow coming.

LL-I'm so happy you were able to sign up for the boot camp challenge! You body adapts to whatever you are doing which is why it's necessary to change it up so frequently. Nutrition is 75%-85% of the fitness equation, sad but true. Exercise is a much smaller percentage. I struggle with this myself. I love exercising, it the nutrition piece that is much more of a struggle for me. I've been doing much better since tracking my macros and calories on myfitness pal. You just need to find what works best for you, something maintainable that you enjoy.

Tina-Woo Hoo for finishing Meso 1. I hope to get back to it this weekend. For some of the shorter BR w/o's, I would use them as an add on. I much prefer the 30 day challenge where the w/o's are 45-75 minutes and I consider them a full workout for me. Although they are weight/cardio circuits, I consider them my cardio of the day and many times will do weight training on the same day. These are endurance based and the weights are lighter and more total body. I would love to hear your thoughts on these w/o's, here's the link to the 30 Day challenge: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdLzQAslwOS7dTmPGigl_1Ju6C0I3y-6T Also, you don't need to do these in order, but the intervals increase in week 3 and 4. Week 1 and 2 are 30/10. Just for reference, I use a 35lb bb, 20# db, and 2 10's or 12's for these w/o's. Oh, and I use my sons ps (gaming system) to connect to youtube and all my w/o's are available to select...and they are free!!!

Beth-What a nice combo....I remember my biceps being sore for days after doing the 100 rep challenge. What good way to keep your body quessing! I agree with LL, it is very motivating that you are able to literally be on your feet all day and come home and do a w/o! :) Enjoy your visit with your DS.

bbl

Diana- holy snow!!! Where do you live, I forget. We only went skiing once this season. [emoji17]

I went to BC this morning and boy am I feeling my bum and thighs from last night and this morning! I could only do 9,10,12 burpees in the 30 second intervals.
