Damage Control January!!!

Oh my, GS is kicking my butt this week! DH and I are so sore, every morning we ask each other, "what are we training for"? We did all three workouts in three days and upped our weights. DS and I are still doing one body part per day, and yesterday we did the biceps from LIHI, and that section rivals the GS biceps section. I did Imax 3 yesterday in the a.m. Today will be KM and I think I'll have DS do the lower body portion of BC, as my upper body is fried! I'm going to stick with doing a different series for cardio each week. Tomorrow will be LM.

Diana, England sounds fantastic! Will you be going to other countries in the future? Sounds like you're making some great friendships in your travels. Way to stick to your workouts too, that's not easy when you're away from home.

Beth, I'm with you on the hour long workouts. It feels like a cheat if it's too short. We did CBS last week and DH used the step instead of the ball. He has to be really careful with his shoulder too. You should have heard us whining during GS BSB last night, we sounded like two grumpy seniors; "oh my back, ouch my wrist, Cathe is evil". DH has to drop his weights during crazy eights, I had him laughing so hard with my whining.
What are you reading for book group this month. We're doing two, one I just finished called The True Story of Hansel and Gretel (I highly recommend NEVER reading this book) and the other is The Book of Unknown Americans, which so far is really good.

LL, the worst feeling in the world is a missing child. We lost our DD in Disney for 10 minutes when she was little. I still don't like to think about it. I hope your DH is all healed up from his surgery. Dry sockets are a nightmare!

DD's puppy went in to be neutered yesterday. They told her to call at two, and when she did they put her on hold for a long time and then the doctor picked up the line and said they didn't think he was going to make it, he wasn't breathing on his own and they would know more in 48 hours. Of course we jumped in the car to go see him and I asked her to call them back and make sure we could see him. Again she was put on hold for 10 minutes (DD is near breaking down) and they finally pick up the line and tell her "whoops, our lines were crossed when you called, Owen is fine and you can pick him up at four". Owen is now curled up on my feet, chewing his Kong, like nothing ever happened. :)

Tina, what a fright you had with the puppy! I'm glad he's ok. CSB gave me some good Doms today. The rotation I'm doing-on day 3 (and am still with it believe it or not!) called for one of the Spin bike workouts. I did Intensity instead. I can't believe the mets for that are only 7. Granted it's on one riser, but I was sweating buckets by the end!

Diana, glad you're finding some good food! I love chicken tikka. The workouts sound pretty good, too. Your body will appreciate a change of pace and then it will be so happy to get back to Cathe and BodyRock! This weekend is FA Cup soccer all over England. My favorite team, Liverpool, plays Sat. Are you going to see any matches? There are lots of leagues over there.

LL, I'm glad you found Little K pretty quick! Lucky for him he was with his brothers.

Hi Ladies,

Made it to the gym this morning for 30 min on the elliptical and some misc. weighted abs and stretching. I told my coworker I needed more time in the morning so I could get my laundry together etc. We got back to the hotel at 7:10, he said I'll meet you in the lobby at 7:30. I need more time, 20 minutes is not enough time especially if you need to shave your legs and get your laundry together. UGH I was only a couple minutes late to the lobby (without getting the laundry together), he said "I thought you were bringing your laundry down". I just responded that I didn't have time...although I chose to shave my legs instead.

Tonight I mentioned that I need to get back to the hotel from the gym earlier....as in leave the gym earlier. He said okay, we can meet in the lobby at 5:45 am......not what I wanted. Oh well. I spent tonight filling out the laundry form...everything has to be listed out, item, how many, etc. It took about 10 minutes to fill out the form and get it together.

Tina-The GS series is awesome!!! It' good to change things up and rotating through the different series is a great way to do that! I don't know if I will be doing additional travel. I will continue to be a resource for this particular location. Oh my goodness, how frightening for your DD. Glad to hear that Owen will be just fine! My workouts aren't up to par and the eating out 3 meals a day is not ideal. I'm making the best choices with the circumstances I'm in. We are within walking distance to the office, but we don't have kitchenette's, refrigerators or microwaves.

Beth-I used to be a cardio junkie, but over the years have learned that my body responds best to cardio/weight circuits, HIIT, Heavy weight training, and of course clean eating...for me that means eliminating the junk carbs..bread, pasta, flour, etc. I'm learning more as I get older how important the food/nutrition component is regarding how you want your body to look. Abs are made in the kitchen not in the gym! It sounds like we may be working this weekend. We've seen a couple matches in local eateries.

Waving hi to LL.

So odd, I thought I posted yesterday....going to check my phone...I'm afraid today may turn into a rest day. Only 5 hours of sleep, schooling at the library, which is turning out to be a disaster...

Hi Ladies,

So we went to the gym earlier this morning, only to stand and wait for them to open at 6am. I did get 45 minutes in on the elliptical! I tried running and that is not happening. I wish my injury would heal so I could run. I'm still happy that I can bear wait on it, walk, and do a lot of things.

LL-Take your rest day, sounds like you need it! Hugs

Hi to Beth and Tina

From yesterday ...Yeah, Beth and Tina, losing a child is the worst. Worse than that was when I lost him for 10 min in Universal Studios! I filed a report and everything. He left the bathroom before I was finished and went straight back to the Minion ride back with his brothers that wasn't next door so I didn't think to look there.

Today is a rest day. Since we left the house at 8:30 and not home yet. [emoji53]tonight is my WW meeting. I hope I still make it. I started back up 3 weeks ago.

Found my post! It was sitting on my phone unsent!

Hi all,

I'm on day 6 of the rotation and am still liking it! Thursday was ICE CLB with BB and Friday was XTRAIN Bi and Tri with abs. Today is ICE LIS-I'm going to do the double cardio 2 mish mosh-45 minutes. My dad's birthday is today! We are all getting together later for a turkey dinner.

Have a good weekend!

Beth

Hi Ladies,

I've went to the gym Friday morning and this morning. This morning I did a 10 min warm up on the elliptical and then used the timer app on my phone and did my own circuit w/o. . I plan on doing that again tomorrow morning.

My trip has been extended. I was supposed to fly home on Tuesday but am now flying home on Friday. I'd rather stay the few extra days while I'm here.

Today we went to another town and looked at a very old church, Tewkesbury Abbey. It was freezing bitter cold and windy which put a real damper on our visit. They have a main street with shops, restaurants etc but it was too cold so we cut our excursion short and caught the bus back. I hope to make it to the local grocery store tomorrow. Tesco I think it is.

LL-busy busy you are! How is the WW plan working for you?

Beth-nice job keeping up with the rotation. All this eating 3 meals a day is way too much for me. I don't want to go out for dinner every night. I have tuna in my room and that is enough for me. My co worker is vegan so he eats rice, potatoes, noodles, French fries....no protein so it's not surprising he wants to eat. I wish I had a kitchenette, but I don't. No refrigerator/mini fridge etc.

Hi Tina!!!

Hi all!

Tina, we're reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt this month. Our group waits until books are out in paperback since so many of us still buy hard copies. I'll keep not reading Hansel and Greta in mind, thanks! Next month we're reading The Door by a foreign writer-Dzuba?-something like that. I'll host, which means I've got to get the sink fixed in the downstairs bathroom-we've been putting off calling the plumber until we get something else to add to the list, but it looks like we're not getting anything-which I guess is good! I'm really enjoying The Goldfinch. It's long and I'm about halfway through.

Today is supposed to be a rest day. I might go to the pool with DH and mess around in there for a bit. I'm not a real proficient swimmer, but I can tread water or something. Diana, it sounds like the circuits are fun! Great idea. The vegan diet doesn't sound all that healthy, you're smart to sticking to your tuna.

I'm off now to watch more FA cup soccer. Liverpool tied yesterday-boo-now they have to play a second match-which will be tough on their squad-but hopefully will be broadcast here so I can watch!

Hi, LL. How is DH's mouth feeling? The mouth is one of the fastest body parts to heal so hopefully he's on the mend and able to eat!

Beth

Beth- Hubby is still hurting a lot and can't eat much more than eggs, yogurt, smoothies, jello, puréed soups and ice cream.

Yesterday I did Burn Sets upper body premix 78 min!! Hard but felt good. Today will probably be a rest day.

Diana - WW is ok. I finally bought the new calculator. But I haven't been tracking great. Weekends have been hard to track. But I've lost 7 pound in 3 weeks! Hopefully I can well it off. I'm less than ten from my WW goal, which sounds better than it is. At 5'9" I should not weigh 175. [emoji29][emoji27][emoji35][emoji17]

Hi Ladies,

Who is in charge of starting the February thread???

I did another circuit at the gym today. I was sweating buckets!!!! I'm doing 40 sec work/10 sec rest for 45 minutes. I'm alternating cardio then weight. I'm also trying to follow a pattern since I haven't written anything down so I hit all areas of upper and lower body as well as abs.

We walked to the grocery store and picked up more toiletries and some snacks. After lunch we walked down the promenade so my co-worker could get some gifts for his wife and kids. I'm doing better with my w/o's and steps. Not sure about tomorrow though, they gym is really busy on weekday mornings. I may be back to the elliptical.

Beth-I wished I liked to read more. You and Tina's book clubs sound great. I'm not a very proficient swimmer either. You could sit in the hot tub or steam room. How are things going with DH being retired? My DH wants to retire early and I'm afraid of being the only income provider. How is that going, if you don't mind me asking. It just makes me nervous. In theory, once we are done paying for the kids school and helping them etc., it seems as though we should be able to get by on one income. I'm not sure how well it will work in reality.

LL-great job on the weight loss!!! We all know the struggle. Once you meet your first goal, you can set another. There's more to it than just scale weight too. I really being able to weigh myself every morning and make my own food. The Fresh Start 21 is starting a new 21 day cleanse on Feb 8th. I've signed up for it. It's whole foods, vegan/vegetarian, nothing processed meal plan. I've done it several times and enjoy most of the meals. It works if I can shop and prepare all the weeks meals on Sunday. The cooking and cleanup take a long time. Early prep is the key to being successful for me!

Waving hi to Tina!
