Cueing in BS/BF as good in other workouts?

I recently got Basic Step & Body Fusion and loved it. I am THE very worst when it comes to choreography so was amazed at how good the cueing was and how easily I picked it up on this workout. If I can do this workout, can I do other Cathe workouts?? I'm particularly interested in Body Blast... Is her cueing as good in all her other workouts??

Thanks!

I agree. Cathe's cueing is really good. Some w/o's I dont have to watch the tv. Step Blast is a lot of fun. Maybe with some moves, you'll have to watch twice or so, but you will get it.

Nothing should be jiggling, unless it's jiggling off. - Cathe in HSC

I have the BB series and love it!

I too am a Cathe newbie (started in December) as well as a newbie to step and thanks to Cathe, I am picking up on moves I never thought I'd be able to figure out!!! I think that you will do fine with the BB series if you are patient with it. There are some tricky moves that may take a few times to grasp and some moves that you may choose to alter because you don't like them (ie-some don't like pivots, etc.) but there is always a "basic" move to fall back on. Cathe is good about teaching you the BASIC routine and then adding on to make it more challenging so you almost always have an option of 2 ways to do it.

If you get the Body Blast series, let us know what you think!:)

I am new too. I bought a Cathe workout a year ago and was so confused that I gave up. When Collage showed this one, I thought "why not". I can actually follow it. I don't think I am ready for her complex moves yet but I feel like I am on my way. I absolutely love the workout. I use heavier weights and a higher step and I get a great workout. I am with you, this one is winner (seems typical with Cathe)

I had a feeling that would be the answer. Thanks for your comments! I just ordered the whole Body Blast package. Can't wait to get it now!

I find that Cathe's cuing is better in earlier workouts. In more recent ones, including Basic step, she sometimes cues late, or doesn't cue the move in a way that describes it the first time (like the "knee slam repeater" in Low Max, which should really be called a "knee-kick-knee," or the "triples around" in the same workout which would be better cued at "step-step-triple-triple").

Yes, Cathe's cuing is right on. We do the workouts over and over so once we know what Cathe calls the move we're set. I hope you will enjoy the Body Blast series. I love the premixes and the music louder option in this series. The music used in the BB series is fun!

Just a word of warning about Step Blast: The cuing is good, but the moves are advanced; they are tricky; they are challenging; but they are sooooo fun once you've got them down! I don't even watch my TV anymore when I'm working out. Oh, I might watch the first time I work out to a new video, but after that, I go on her cuing by itself unless I come up on a tricky move I haven't quite mastered, yet. And I am by no means an advanced exerciser - not yet, anyway.

I agree, Kathryn. At one point in Low Max, Cathe cues, "Rock Horse," but doesn't say how many, or when to switch legs. I can see confusion on the faces of some of the crew regarding cueing sometimes too. I have to repeat the workouts enough times, so that I memorize through what Cathe doesn't cue. Cathe's workouts are still the best on the market, IMO, but the cueing can be frustrating.

Sort of looks like mixed emotions here. I'm very bad with complex choreography but was hoping the cueing would make the difference as it did with BS/BF. Hope I didn't make a mistake by ordering Body Blast! Thanks all for your opinions!!

You can't go wrong ordering any of her workouts. But, like Kathryn said, the cueing in her earlier workouts was better than her newer ones. In the BB series, and in the Hardcore series, her cueing seems to come a little late, or right during the moves rather than before. I'm familiar with all her step workouts and even I found this to be a little frustrating. You'll probably spend a lot of time rewinding, esp. Step Blast, but once you get to know it you'll have a lot of fun with it.

I never have any trouble with any of Cathe's cueing on any of her workouts. i rarely look at the TV on any of the cardio workouts any more, only for the interval ones because I haven't done them repeatedly enough to know them by heart yet.

I don't think anyone out there cues better than Cathe does. In fact, sometimes I wish she would shut up!
