CHICAGO ROAD TRIP ANNOUNCEMENT

Wow! I never look to see where anyone is from. I am pleasantly surprised at how many WI/IL peeps we have here!

Roomate Option *wink*

And thanks Jeanie-I had no idea it would start that early on Friday. Good to know!

Another thought Jill is to share a room--there will be a roommate thread on the RoadTrip Forum which cuts your costs and you don't have to worry about travel etc. which is nice. It's so convenient to be able to go to your room for "whatever". It's another way to meet a seasoned RT'er or a newbie and there are many from the Chicagoland area and fun to get to know 'em. Just another option :D

Buggers!!!! I've already spent big cash for a marathon on 05/05 and am going out of town for that. It'd take a lot schmoozing to get more time off work and convince the hubby as well.

Have you looked south of Chicago? Perhaps Joliet - the casino's have decent sized hotels. Aurora? Naperville? Oakbrook has oodles of conventions all year round. McCormick Place in the city is huge and always mostly empty, and has an attached hotel.

Help a Cathlete out here! :p:p:p;)

Thanks, Pedmom, for asking all the same questions I've been wondering about. As much as I'd love to stay at the Grand Geneva (I was there for a conference once, and it's very nice), I think one of the only ways I can convince my DH that I need the money for this is to stay at home here in Milwaukee and drive in, at least one of the nights.

And, I too was worried about sitting around all smelly and no one wanting to sit with me. :p

Good thought, but I have already offered for several of my "online friends" to stay at my house so that they can afford to come. :)

Bumpin this! Come on people! Meet us in chi- town! Cathe I'm most likely bringing a girlfriend so there's another vote! You made my month with this announcement!

I should be able to go. I was disappointed when I missed Disney, so I was very excited to hear the news of another destination road trip.

Wow-sounds great. I am in San Diego right now and just got wind of this. I'll be home tonight to double check the dates but I'm pretty sure it is a go for me.

Grand Geneva Resort... even better!! I would love to be able to finally attend a Road Trip.

That's a big YES for me!!

I want to go to the Chicago RT at the Grand Geneva sooooooooo bad. I'm not sure that I can afford the entire weekend. Are there options of coming for a day or something and participating in some of the classes and a meet and greet or anything like that. It would be a long drive but it would be worth it to meet Cathe and the crew.

Does anyone know if there are options if you can't afford the entire weekend?

I want to meet Cathe soooo bad.

Hey Brenda!

I don't know of/think there are "part time" payment options. Last year I went to Disney, paid for the whole shebang, yet only was able to attend Fri night classes, Sat dinner/fashion show (no classes on Sat morning/afternoon, due to religious observance) and class on Sun, dessert party Monday. I think not being there all day Sat, really put me "out of the loop", and I felt like an outsider/slacker when I came back, lol. (the Sat issue is why I probably wouldn't go again, even though I *really* want to). It's a great experience to be a part of it all, everyone is super friendly...

I would recommend trying to attend as much as possible. I still paid the full $$ because it was my own reasons for not being able to attend, & I didn't want to "dock" SNM for their services, because of it. They put so much work into it...
