::::: CHEETAHS ::::: Tuesday, 1/30

A couple of replies-

Barb- If you can research the Precor EFX5.23 I highly recommend it even if you have to carve out a space in your bedroom. It has 20 incline settings and a wide range of resistance, HRM. Precor is the leading manufacturer of Elliptical Cross Trainers and has the patent on the incline. There is a display that tells you which areas of your legs are being used most at wich incline setting. Having the combination of resistance and incline is useful IMO.

Christine- I am sorry about the Mom anniversary. My own Mom passed in 1988 and I miss to this day. I wish she had known my kids.

Cathy- I'm sending out payment today. I hope it is not too late...

HI Gayle- welcome back to the Cheetahs!!!

Judy--I think the ceilings in our house are too low everywhere to fit the Precor. The basement is 6.5 feet high ceilings and the regular floors 7.5 feet or 8 feet at most. I am 5'9" and am thinking that when standing on the precor, my head would hit the ceiling. If you want to get out a tape measure at home and tell me I'd have 6 inches clearance, I already have the Precor site bookmarked.

Carole--thanks for the good wishes on the TM run.

Sunny-- the run was annoying because it was 18 degrees, snow-covered roads and ice freezing on my face. I was well dressed for this all, but because it was also dark out, I didn't enjoy the challenge today.....Then when my iPod battery died & the Garmin died, that just really annoyed me and I called it quits at 3.5 miles, planning to finish indoors later.

Gayle -- great to see you back! Your races sounds fun.

Linda--great to see you back, too. Sorry about the injuries. I look forward to hearing what's going on with you in life & exercise.

Christine--hugs on the anniversary of your mom's death. This is hard.

More later or tomorrow,
Hi to everyone else!

:) :)

Good afternoon ladies,
I am late today. I swallowed a crown yesterday and had to go to the dentist this morning to get a temp and get fitted for a new one, UGH!!!

I did Butts and Gutts timesaver premix today and later I will do the LIC upper body work.

I am off to pt appointment and my back is feeling great today. I think I am finally on my way to recovery. I am not going to test that anytime soon though. I am just going to chill:)

I should get my new elliptical delivered today or tomorrow. I cannot wait. It is funny, I did not care for the precor efx. It felt like more of a stepper machine to me than an elliptical. It kind of hurt my knees. I think also with my back the incline is not a good thing for me right now. Oh well, I am just glad there are so many options out there.

Anyway ladies, I have to run now, but just wanted to say hi!

Cheers!

Susan

Susan--sorry about that crown. What a pain, but glad you're ok. Great workout done for today and nice plan for later. I'm glad your back is feeling better. That must be a relief.

-Barb:)

Hey there chicklets!;)

I am done with Core Syn and NOT looking forward to doing it again on Friday!!!:p That was ***TOUGH***! I am still under the weather today so maybe that's part of it. I'll have to see how I handle it next time. Hopefully I'm feeling better by then! :)

Judy: I bagged the food store. I decided it would be too much rushing around to try and fit that in. It's not worth it. When I have to rush too much I get aggravated and the day just turns into a whole big worthless mess...So much for that tight ship, ey? LOL Hope you enjoyed your work out today. :)

Karen: Hope you enjoyed your run and the peace and quiet while your girls are at class. ;)

Kristi: Have a good run. I may have to bag any runs this week due to it being the recovery week and the scheduling just won't be right. Oh well...I'll live, right? I'm still feeling icky but not terrible. I was able to do Core Syn though I think it almost killed me a few times! LOL

Barb: I guess you are not a fan of cold weather running? Neither am I. It slows me down and I just find it uncomfortable.

Carole: Enjoy your Iclimb! Have you ever tried using dumbells with PLB?

Linda: Take it easy on that leg until it's 100%! Don't worry, you are still a Cheetah!:)

Sunny: The busy PT girl! How many clients are you training per day on average now? I am tearing through the PT manual. I've read just over 140 pages which is like 280 of a NORMAL sized book! LOL And just think...I only have 410 more pages to go.... LOL

Gayle: You are feeling lost and confused, huh? LOL On days that you run, check in here. On days that you do a P90X work out, check in with the Xers! Problem solved!:D

Susan: Sorry about your dental woes. That stinks. What a pain!x( I'm very excited for you to get the new elliptical! I can't wait to hear how you like it! My gym has lifefitness TM's. They are pretty good. The ellipticals are precore. Ofcourse...they are replacing all of the equipment now so who knows what brand(s) they will choose.

Alrighty...I'm off to the shower now. I have an hour to get myself and DS ready! Good thing I did NOT go food shopping!

Have a great afternoon everyone...hope to be back later tonight.

Wendy--good job on Core Syn. hard workout! I am usually a fan of cold weather running, but today it didn't work out. It does slow you down, though, but the roads were too slippery. I had a gator on around my neck and ice froze on the outside of it.

Good description of why its not worth doing any errands in a rush...because it all becomes a big mess.

-Barb

:)

I had a little time at work, so I thought I would come back again today :)

Barb - Thanks for your kind words! I could definitely see how that would be an annoying run! It is very cold here this week, too! Quite a shock to me because I just got back from Aruba for 9 days and it was 86 to 90 degrees and very humid! What time of day were you running?

Wendy - Thank you, also! I know what you mean about Core Synergistics! Are you enjoying your P90X rotation? I just did mine for a couple of weeks this time and then went on to GS's again.:+

Susan - Oh my! Sorry about your crown! Will it just pass on it's own? I have a Precor EFX 5.17. I like it, but I have to agree with what you said about it feeling more like a stepper. I am tall and I feel that I don't really get as good of a range of motion as I could. But I do still get a very good workout with it, though, but I do understand what you are saying.

Last week I did speed walking while I was in Aruba everyday. The distances ranged from 4.5 miles to 7.25 miles during the week.

This week I have done:

Sunday - Cathe's LIC and the floorwork of B&Gs + the abs.
Monday - Ran 3.25 miles and did the standing portion of B&Gs + abs.
Today I walked 5 miles and did GSC&T.

A couple of weeks ago we got a new yellow lab puppy. We were planning on waiting until spring, since Morgan has only been gone since Christmas and we were still quite upset. But.... we found a breeder that was actually one of our customer's and they had some beautiful little lab puppies. So.... we got her. We have had her for around 3 weeks. It is just like having a new baby! They sure keep you busy trying to train them, etc! Her name is Madison aka Maddie.

Hi to everyone else and hope everyone has a good evening.

Linda

barb- sorry. hopefully you will have a better run tonight.

wendy- i train about 5 clients a day. some more, some less. most sessions are a 1/2 hr. however 1st time clients get an hr. where we go over nutrition, take their measurements, etc. good job with the book! are you finding it pretty interesting?

linda-welcome back and congrats on the new pup:)

welcome back gayle!!

sunny- which site did you get your calories from as far as zig zagging?

didnt get the stairs in today at lunch time. I was crunched for time because we have been so short of help theses days. the company I work for doesnt care how short we are they take our help and send it to other facitlites and the heck with us. of course they are pulling out of the builiding in 30days so they really dont care. I cant wait not to have to work for them anymore.

well off to cook dinner. talk to ya later!!

Hey Cheetah Babes –

Sorry I’ve so lousy at checking in lately! Just tough getting my head together right now – between work, my idiot DH and the anniversary of my mom’s death. I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, condolences and prayers. You are a wonderful group of ladies!! My killer lower body workout did not quite happen as planned, but I did do BMax 2 Scrambled Eggs premix this morning on a lower step and without all of the impact, but my groin seems to be healed – mini pull, I guess *thanks the heavens for that!* I so like that workout and I needed one with just major fun factor and no dread, but that is tough – that one fit the bill! Just got done signing the paperwork for joining the new gym which is my old gym, but I’m re-signing with them. The woman is trying to get me to do a sprint-triathlon – the Danskin Breast Cancer tri in LA. They get a group of women together and train for this, then go to LA and do it. It sounds like a blast. I don’t know though – that’s right around the time DD17 graduates so it may be too crazy.

Cathy – you should be home by now – so I hope you’re enjoying your run! Thanks for the support, by the way!!

Marcia – HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Great age! I loved 37! Enjoy yourself. Hope all goes well during your doctor’s appointment!

Laura – I’m like you – come spring you cannot keep me indoors. I love being outside and eating salads and all sorts of healthy stuff. In the winter I want heavier things.

Hey Shelly! You always bring a smile to my face. I’m like you with Yoga – I can handle about ½ an hour but after that I’m ready to climb the walls. Thanks for the hugs. Skipped that torture session but added a different one… :p Enjoy Muscle Max!

Wendy – you’re probably already enjoyed Core Synergistics. I don’t find it as tough as a lot of others do – I enjoy it, actually. It’s better than most functional fitness videos. I think the next time you do it, you’ll like it more. It’s one of those that kind of grows on you – like fungus… :p

Judy – Enjoy your workout!

Karen – a pottery class? How fun!! Do you take it with them? I’ve always wanted to learn to do pottery.

Kristi – thanks – it is tough. Enjoy those new shoes. When I got my Muzino’s there was no break in period. I ran a half marathon two weeks after I got them with very happy feet.

Barb – again – what to say but thanks. You’re a class A lady.

Carole – oh, okay! I actually get compliments on my Krystal nails. The kind my salon uses has both white and pink powders and they charge more for two-toned, but it looks more natural so I splurge. Thanks so much for the note – you’re a wonderful friend.

Gayle – we’re THRILLED to have you back with us!!! Have fun with your 10k on Super Bowl Sunday! I think I’d be shot if I tried to do that! :+ Sorry to hear about your mom. I am very fortunate in that my DD’s were able to get to know her very well. My sister’s oldest is 5 and I feel for what they will miss. Hugs to you, too.

Linda – wow! It’s a regular reunion here today! I do hope your leg is feeling better. Of course it counts as a Cheetah! It’s all good! Oh, enjoy your new puppy!!! They are a lot of work – but if you do the work upfront you have a dog that is just the best in the whole wide world. (except for mine of course – as he’s the best! :p)

Sunny – thanks for the hugs!! They felt so good! {{{HUGS}}} right back at ya! How’s the full time training coming along? Those adorable boys of yours enjoying have you home more?

Susan – so much exciting news at once! Your back is on the mend and your elliptical will arrive today or tomorrow – is it there?! Sorry to hear about the crown – that’s never any fun. Hope you enjoyed B&G!

Linda--I was out at 5:30 a.m. - eek, that added to the bummer of it.
Those are some long distances for speed walking! That's great. Aruba sounds nice. Congratulations and welcome to Maddie. Enjoy your bonding time! Your workouts Sun, Mon & Today sound really solid. Keep up the good work.

Sunny--thanks for the sympathy. The TM run went fine and I'm glad I followed through.

Laura-- I hope time flies at work. Don't sweat not having time to do the stairs .You do so many hard workouts, the rest was probably ok with your body, too.

-Barb
:)

Hi all, again......

Back from the doctor and everything is OK. :) Whew......

Now I can get back to concentrating on ME! ;-) Anybody have a certain rotation they are looking at for February? I need a real goody to get this 'birthday weight' off and kick myself into gear. Cathe hasn't posted hers yet, but until I actually order P90X and get it I'll need something to get me movin'.

Take care, Marcia.

Back for a few personals.

Carol- My eliptical probably wont' come about until March. I'm still shopping around but I settled on one or two from Proform models.

Gayle- I missed you. I am training for a 10 MIler in March and then I have tons of 5k in April and May. May is the busy season. I'm thinking of doing a half or a full. I am going to make up my mind come April.

Sunny D- Had loads of fun at pottery. I don't think I ever asked you what you teach. I've seen your posts but thought you taught class. I see you are a personal trainer. How cool is that. How long have you been doing that? My goal someday. Wendy is my new inspiration.

Linda- I dont' think I met you before but welcome back.

Susan- You swallowed a crown. Let me say that again." You swallowed a crown" You poor girl. I hope everything turns out ok for you. Hopefully your not in pain. Maybe the eliptical will make you feel better.

Wendy- Ha Ha. Did you forget I homeschool? My kids are here all day long. This was a girl scout pottery class so we had 10 messy little girls.. Did I mention I'm the leader? Well, my friend an I lead a multi level troop. We both homeschool. It works out great because we try and do activities that fit all the ages. Honestly I don't know what quite is or being left alone. Those days are gone. I'm sure I wont' be saying that when they grow up and leave me. I'll be wanting someone to visit me when I'm on the potty. LOL

Christne- The place was called Amazing Galze. You pick the pottery already made and paint it. Then you dip it and they put it in the kiln. We go pick it up Sunday. It was lots of fun. Now my kids are taking a pottery class in April where they will make there own stuff. I'll let you know how that goes.

Off to do dishes.

Marcia ~ happy birthday!!! I say indulge yourself, woman! There’s no fun in being a good girl on your b-day! You’ve been working hard – relax tonight & work like a beast again tomorrow! I don’t have P90X, so I can’t help you make the decision, but either way, you’ll be making an investment to the new & improved you of 2007…so, how can you go wrong? I did post a link to a zig-zag calculator…it was either Saturday or Sunday’s post.

Laura ~ The last 10 truly are the hardest…hang in there!…Don’t forget, too, that you can get that 500 calorie deficit through BURNING the cals rather than restricting your eating. Your breakfasts & lunches sound good…I hadn’t heard of the salad spritzer before – thanks for the tip!…I am with you – I love good food, and it’s the grazing & snacking that gets me. Lately, I seem to have a big appetite, so it’s been a struggle.

Shelly ~ yes, I do have a tread and have grumbled about it now and then b/c I prefer to run outdoors. I feel the same as you do and struggle beyond 30 minutes or so. Enjoy MM & good for you for laying off the cardio for 3 days in a row! Good girl! :)

Wendy ~ nah, the shirts aren’t here yet, so don’t sweat it about the check. If it makes you feel any better, I’ve received checks from about half the cheetahs who ordered…Thanks for the offer to temporarily confiscate my GS DVDs :). I’ll be good, I promise. I’m very curious to see if this new approach will break the plateau. Sounds like a busy day for you – hope you enjoyed dinner @ MILs.

Judy ~ hope you enjoyed your w/out…Yes, it’s tough to keep up w/ all the cheetah chatter, but I love it!…No, it’s definitely not too late to send out the check…The shirts are still in production but will hopefully be shipped soon!…I’m sorry that your mom passed before your kids were born…reading that made me sad.

Karen ~ re: Jari…it will probably take some experimentation before I get the weights right. Some were too light; others were too heavy for certain exercises. One thing I could’ve done w/out is the constant need to announce the % of carbs being burned, but all in all, I will keep both w/outs in the rotations occasionally. Hope you enjoyed your run & the pottery class.

Kristi ~ what kind of new kicks did you get? Hope you enjoyed your TM run.

Barb ~ *lol* re: the pacemaker…I hate when the batteries die out mid-run! That was just adding insult to injury, wasn’t it? OH, I just remembered that I used the Polar with my iPod on the TM one day last week, so it must be the Garmin that’s causing interference. DOH! That’s not good.

Carole ~ glad your back is better…enjoy GS Legs & the elliptical…Last time I did PLB, I just subbed dumbbells…if there’s too much weight changing, the bar works my nerves. You mentioned your nephew the chiro and it made me wonder about John. How is he? It’s been a while since you’ve updated us.

Gayle ~ hi & welcome back!

Linda ~ welcome back! How was Aruba? I PM’d you back. Congrats on the new pup! Can you post a pic?

Sunny ~ yes, your check arrived y’day – thanks.

Susan ~ yikes! Sorry to hear about the dental snafu! Glad you are feeling good and are not tempted to push it.

Christine ~ good to see you, but of course we understand life gets in the way sometimes…You're dealing with a lot right now. I'm glad you could let loose w/ a fun workout. More (((HUGS))) comin' atcha! :)

OK, I will get geared up shortly to hit the TM followed by leg cond. drills from KM.

Have a great night, everyone!
Cathy :)

Wow...I just checked on the t-shirts and found that that they have been shipped. So, they will likely be here sometime between tomorrow and Friday!!

If you haven't dropped your check in the mail yet, please do, so I can send out your shirt ASAP! :)

Christine--maybe you could swing the triatholon during the graduation weekend. You are really organized about cooking/entertaining. Maybe it would work.

Karen--LOL -- I am just pondering whether in my later years, I would want my kids to visit me on the potty!! I am going to try the strategy you suggested next time I do a Jari Love tape. Funny...

Gayle -- t-shirts/yes, Cathy is amazing and had us all vote on a t-shirt for Cheetahs saying something like us all unleashing our inner beasts. Not to be confused with a fashion-t, they are made of a technical material....:+

Cathy-- have fun with your TM workout and leg conditioning drills. I got some new shoes from Zappos with some spikey things on the bottom and may decide to keep them and use them for running in snow/ice. I'll keep you posted...

-Barb
:)

Just popping in to say I did 30 min on the TM (intervals) and the drills from KM. Whew! Those are killer after a hard run.

Karen :: lol about the carbs. Good one! :)

Barb :: I'm happy with the new kicks I bought - basically the same pair of Pumas but in different colors...just for casual wear. The Speedcats I have now are getting a bit beat, but I love those things! Very comfortable and not as Capt. Obvious as regular sneakers.

OK, off to shower and then settle in for the evening. Talk to you cheetahs in the AM!
