Mornin', cheetahs!

I bagged last night's plans and wiped out early again - I really needed to bank some zzz's! - but I'm up early so I can get a leg up on my work. Today's w/out was supposed to be the new Gin Miller Step DVD I bought recently (haven't tried it yet), but I don't think I feel like that one. Not sure what I'll do instead. Will play by ear.

Gonna go catch up w/ yesterday's posts and be back.

Cathy :)

Barb :: I’d be game to meet up anywhere, but I thought Chicago might be a reasonably neutral spot.

Everyone: if we were to try to make a Cheetah GTG possible, when would be the ideal time? Are there other locations we should consider besides Chicago or Vegas?

Gayle, Linda & Thomasina :: sorry about the shirts! :( I have not heard from anyone else about the second order – we would need at least 1 more to place the order. We might be able to get that – but just keep in mind, the price would be about $30. Are you guys willing to spend that?

Jess :: oh, I didn’t realize you had gotten your haircut, too – glad you like it! I know what you mean about feeling so much lighter…I have very thick hair and can’t go beyond 8 weeks for a cut (that’s the absolute maximum) or it’s really weighed down and tough to manage. I go to a rather high-end salon and love, love, love my stylist – I’ve NEVER been disappointed! BUT yesterday, to my surprise, it was the first time I wasn’t 100% pleased with the cut. It looks good, but she went a liiiittle bit shorter than I would have liked. HOWEVER, she was sick as a dog, so I’m not upset about it. It grows fast. :) Personally, I don’t think the Oxygen mag is a must. I recommended it to someone instead of buying Tosca Reno’s The Eat-Clean Diet book because I had purchased both and found that they both contain the same info. (So, I returned the book.) I have picked up Oxygen occasionally but with the last issue, I decided I am not going to waste my money anymore. IMO, it’s just one big ad for itself…Bathroom looks great!

Shelly :: I’m glad to hear your reaction to the B&G Blast! Now I don’t feel like such a wimp! *lol*

Barb :: lol about Shelly’s award! I have Saffell’s Hardcore Kickbox Circuit…It is one I ordered recently, so I’ve only done it once…It’s OK but not that challenging except for the crescent kicks. I am woefully inept at those. Love your aunt’s preworkout beverage! ;) :)

Gayle :: great job on the TM run! Is your shin OK today? Hope you share some of your whey recipes with us.

Christine :: ^^^ fives on skipping the fries!!!! They’re a huge weakness for me! Oh, I didn’t see the part about not being able to be a ripped vegan in BFFM. That’s a surprise…generally, most of what I’ve read by Venuto makes sense.

Susan :: sorry, I had to get on track yesterday, so it was not a weekend free-for-all for me (for a change)…I did fairly well…I *almost* popped some Kettle Corn popcorn last night, but luckily, I was too lazy to get off the couch.

Thomasina :: does your gym have a perfume policy? That stinks! Literally!…Thank you for the compliment. Ooh, gosh, another mention of Kettle Chips…I might have a breakdown today when I run to the grocery store.

Marcia :: great job with chest & back! I want to take a spin over to Dick's and look into either a chin-up bar or the bands. What are you using? Did you take your "before" measurements & pics?

Have a GREAT Sunday, everyone! Will peek in again

Hi gang:

Cathy - No I haven't taken pics or measurements yet. I'm hoping to do that soon. If I have my husband do them then maybe he'll be tempting to join me and that would be a lot of fun, I think. Of course, we'd never be able to do the workouts together because of our schedules, but we sure could talk things over about them and that would be Great! Last night I just used dumbells and mimiced the pull up motion until I get a pull up bar or band.

Today I'm teaching Sunday School and then headed to our bar to work from noon to 8PM :-( (makes for a long day). So, I'm off in a few minutes to try out PlyoX. }( It's pretty early in the morning for me to be working out hard, but I know for a fact that when I get home tonight I'll be way too tired to do it.

Have a great day everyone!!!
Marcia.

Hello ladies,

cathy- what is the timeframe for a cheetah get together? good job on skipping the kettle popcorn!

marcia- so glad you enjoyed your first p90x workout!! tony is great isn't he??!! did you decide on the classic rotation?

barb- i have a TM at home but i like to go to the gym to use theirs sometimes for a change of scenery. you will enjoy bbc!

thomasina- thanks! do you also live in CA?

susan- i definitely joined you yesterday on the free for all. i had nachos at the circus and then we went to chilli's for dinner. had my favorite chocolate molten cake for dessert..........yum-MY!

jess- your bathroom looks awesome!

christine- i am still trying to make my way thru the entire BFFM book. just can't find the time. hopefully soon.

today's workout is PlyoX. can't wait. i love that workout:)

will BBL....:)

Jeez, Marcia, I really feel for you with your non-stop work schedule! How do you do it?!? I have been taking measurements ever since I got back into working out (Jan. 06), but I have not done before/after pics. I think I will when I start the X.

Sunny :: mmm, Chili's...I *love* that molten chocolate volcano thing! YUM!!...Uh, don't congratulate me too soon...confession time: I ate the popcorn for breakfast - yikes! *lol*...I have not been able to read BFFM cover to cover, either. I jump around when I need certain info...Re: the GTG, I don't know - I was just thinking sometime in 2007. Thought maybe if it were planned far enough out, more cheetahs could budget for it.

Good morning, cheetahs! I'm up for a GTG, depending on where and when. I'll have to see the details. I'm secretly planning a trip to Texas this summer for me and my boys. A friend and a fellow Catheite lives 30 minutes from Dallas. My older DS is a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan and I thought it might make for an awesome summer trip to visit my friend, visit the stadium, and do some sightseeing. ANYWAY.....I'll see what you ladies put together for a GTG.

With both boys at sleepovers last night, I couldn't sleep. I was up at 3:30 wide awake. lol I was watching infomercials.....Slim in 6, P90X, Hip Hop Abs, lol. It was funny and made me want to get up and workout! I eventually fell back asleep and was up at 7am for today's workout.

I did the upper body workout that Judy posted the other day that combined PP and SS. OUCH! LOL. It hurt so GOOD! Can't wait to see how I feel tomorrow! I was going to add in some cardio, but after yesterday's 6 miles and tomorrow's long run of 8, I figured it's best to wait on that.

I'm headed to the kitchen to make a homemade Lentil Soup to have on hand the rest of the week. If it turns out well, I'll share the recipe!

Have an AWESOME SUNDAY!

Gayle

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...good job on the TM and L&G yesterday! Maybe pick a more fun workout today...), I do that when I am not quite sure what to do.

Sunny...I ended up doing an iClimb 20 min instead of kickboxing. I had planned on KPC...You are welcome for the tip, glad it worked..:)..Good job on the TM.

Shelly...that would be awesome if you joined us for Humboldt. I think both the half and marathon start at the same time, so we could run a bit together!! I will do the full if my mileage is up there by then...:)

Elaine...it sounds great about Humboldt. I think Christine and Susan could do the half or 5K...we could have a big party...:)..It is so tough to loose the cravings for certain foods. I have been bad for so long....(I know you cheetahs probably don't believe me!) and once I give it about 4 days without the bad stuff....the cravings really do leave, But those 4 days are tough...)

Linda...yes, I do feel lucky to live here. the temps can get hold and cold but it really isn't tough running most of the time..Sounds like a good 5 mile run yesterday..:)...Good job on getting Eat To Live!

Susan...I am glad you got to meet Christine...she is great. Hope you survived the eatfest last night. Always a good thing to shake up the exercise routine. MacDonalds???...I know I have not eaten there in years, I liked Jack in the Box better!

Barb..I will check out Flogging Molly...the Humboldt date is Oct 21st. Would be so fun if you could come, but then again Clam Beach in Jan or Feb is also a fun one. Good idea to DH about the Humboldt Institute...:) ..Janis's Hardcore Kickbox circuit with Guerrillmo is good, not really a tough one but fun. I have a few of her others and I will look at them and get back to you. I also have some Taebo KB and those are good.

Christine..sounds like DH is busy with travel. I have been trying to send my DH somewhere! Shopping after wine would be interesting. Good job on skipping the fries!! Thank you for the sweet compliment.

Gayle..so you watch cartoons while on the TM??...:)..hope the shin is okay.

Tomasina...I am with you on the foo- foo business. WTH?....I am always shocked to see women wearing FULL makeup before a race...another WTH? If you cant make Humboldt think about Clam beach in late Jan. It is in Trinidad and a course along the beach...

Marcia...way to go with Chest & Back. I almost always write down my reps and weight used...I am anal about that...:)

I am running at least 10 miles today. The course I will be doing Mar 3rd and maybe a few more miles. We went to a friends house yesterday and they just had to serve chips and guacamole.....oh boy.....so a long run is on order,

Have a great day...

morning,

still no soreness from ME and firewalkers, I am very surprised. Today will be another total body workout though and I think I will add a a short cardio as well.I just feel like I have to do several days of cardio for some reason.

jess-your transformation is amazing. You look great! Pilates did most of that for you? wow. I wished I had that kind of luck but I am sure you worked really hard for it. you should be proud of yourself!

well off to get the workout in early or I will probably find and excuse. see ya!

Good morning!

Cathy - I would be willing to pay that for a shirt. Oooo! Vegas would be a nice place for a GTG! I am planning on San Diego for the IDEA conference in July, Irvine in August for Camp TurboKick.....DH and I "usually" go to Vegas in October.

Christine - I am anxious to read the book. There are several other ones that I want to get and read that everyone has suggested. What is BFFM? What does that stand for? :+

I will be back a little later, I need to get busy on my workout and then I will check back.

Hi to everyone

:7

Linda

Carole - Have fun on your 10 miles!!! Oooo! Chips! Yummy! ;-)

Gayle - Oh my ...the lentil soup sounds yummy, too!

Laura - I feel the same way about cardio. I feel like I need to do it everyday. I know a lot of people thinks I shouldn't do that...but I just feel better if I do.

Okay....I'll be back later!

Linda

HI Cheetahs-
The family has been keeping us busy all weekend I am not caught up on our 'dear Cheetahs.' I did catch a comment about Susan's and Christine's and Cathy's pictures , so I took a quick peek at them. ~You are all so lovely~ Than you for sharing them with us!

Well ladies, it seems that my hip issues were aggravated after doing some of those icy runs. Last week I ran only on the TM hoping it would help, but it did not. This week I will stay on the EXT and continue with the extra stretching and icing and ibuprofin.

On a good note I did B&G premix again yesterday and the DOMS are not nearly as significant as last week. A B&G premix will remain on my Saturday schedule for a while. I got away form full leg workouts because I was tired of running with DOMS all the time, but I think the best way to battle it is to do more regular legs.

During the week when it is quieter here I will do more personals. Enjoy your Sunday girlfriends!

Hi Chatty Cheetahs--
I did a 5.5 mile shortened long run today, as it's going to be a recovery week for me. Did some floorwork from B&G and LIC abs before I headed out in the 6 degree weather here -- which was better than last week's ridiculous cold.

The cold air had a good effect on my legs: it was like an ice bath in a good way, made my muscles feel good and the run was short enough, I did not get too cold.

So my kids do not have a regularly scheduled swim practice today, so under much begging from them, I am swimming laps with them at a public pool.

My older 13yo DS has written me "a workout." I haven't looked at it yet, but it should be fun to do some swimming again. I always feel great after I swim, but hate getting in the water....

Have a great day everyone!

Cathy—Sounds like you needed rest. No surprise after how hard you’ve been working! I will not know my summer availability until May when my kids’ swim schedule gets posted. Also because of my DH’s bike race at the end of July, I’m thinking that anything before the end of July won’t work for me.. I have Gin Miller’s Simply Step Video and haven’t done it in ages. Let me know what you think when you do the new one.

Marcia—sounds like a busy day for you. Have fun with Plyo X. I am a morning-only exerciser. I have no energy as the day wears on….

Sunny – I’d like to find a gym to be able to go to a couple of times a week. It’s slim picking around here for a place that isn’t mobbed. I think change of scenery is important. I’m going to do some TJ workouts this week. Have fun with PlyoX.

Gayle – definitely post that Lentil Soup recipe if you like it. I have an old standard red lentil soup recipe I make every couple of weeks. Sorry your night of sleep was choppy. It’s so funny with kids – I’ll be dying for a break, a moment a lone, etc…then when the house is empty, I feel like a fish out of water.

Carole – I don’t think Humboldt will work because of the date and the flights would be way to expensive for that location. I did a little looking online…but I’m keeping that Jan. 2008 race in mind. I used to do Taebo videos – the very first version of them when my first son was born. I enjoyed them. Have a good run today.. I love guacamole….

Laura—funny about the no DOMS. Maybe you can play around with positioning on firewalkers or a heavier band to see if you can get more of a burn going.

Linda—Are you a personal trainer or fitness instructor, too that you are going to the IDEA conference? I thought of you last night when my kids were on me to swim with them
today: it’s like your daughter and TJ workouts! How's Maddie?

Christine--You are a nice wife to help DH get ready for his big trip. Australia is far away. Some friends of ours were there for a 2-year work stint and thought it was beautiful, but the time change adjustments were difficult. Enjoy your few days flying solo with your girls!

Judy & Susan- I got a new book at Borders you might be interested in. It's called "Instant Relief" written by a PT and it has a bunch of simple stretches you can do, either standing or sitting and is organized by "where does it hurt." I am enjoying it.

Have a great day Cheetahs!

Cheetah Back in Action.

I am finally over the stomach virus. Now my girls have it but I'm 100% again. I just hope we don't reinfect each other. I got up early and ran 9 miles. It felt good to sweat out all the toxins. I'm short on time with sick ones but I hope to be back in full swing this week. Karen

Hey Cheetahs.

I'm late today! DS slept at granny's last night and DH and I went over a couple's house for dinner and to hang out. I enjoyed pizza and beer and even a shot!}( This morning I slept until 8:30-this NEVER happens!!!! Now I am waiting on DH so that we can go out for a pancake breakfast!YUM!:9 :9 :9 To top it off....today is my rest day! Think I'm indulging a bit this weekend!? :7 }( :7 Oh, and I also ate cookie's y'day afternoon...how bad can one get in a 24 hour time span!?!? LOL

Tomorrow it's back to business as I begin week 6 of the X! I think I'll be good and ready to clean up my act by then. ;)

I would do personals but I really don't have the time right now...I'll be back in a bit though, I PROMISE! :D

Oh, and I'll make another attempt at the Cheetah shirt pic today too.

Ciao for now! :+

Carole :: I still haven’t decided on my workout…will probably wait til early afternoon…I finished my grad school work and am now feeling like bumming around a bit first. Enjoy running off the chips and guacamole.

Linda :: BFFM stands for Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle.

Judy :: thank you…hope the hip issues are nipped in the bud quickly…I’m also increasing my leg work.

Barb :: great job on getting out there in 6 degrees! Enjoy your swim.

Hi Gayle, Laura, & Karen.

OK, with Gayle just having a birthday the other day, I thought it might be a nice idea to collect the cheetahs birthdays. If you would like to enter your birthday into my Birthday Alarm calendar, please click this link: http://www.birthdayalarm.com/dob/77571560a964690589b362 . I’ll PM a list of b-days to anyone who’s interested.

Cathy :)

Cathy-COOL idea on the BDays. In fact, I ended up opening up my own account! That's such a great idea!

HI EVERYBODY! I just had a quick minute to check in with you all! I've got a house full of kids! Imagine that....after missing them badly now I think I'm crazy for having their FRIENDS come home with them! LOL

BTW, what is FLAX and where in the store do I find it??? I couldn't find it last night during my shopping spree!

BBL

Gayle

Good morning chatty cheetahs! Actually it's relatively quiet this morning! I felt so great after my interval run yesterday. I SO want to run today but I will be strong and resist. I won't be running any consecutive days for a while yet. I have my great new EXT to play with anyway :) Today I'll be taking my old one over to a friend of mine who is recovering from a back injury and really needs an elliptical but can't afford one. There's nothing wrong with mine, it's just a very simple model, great for a beginner.

Karen- Great to hear you're feeling well now. Fantastic job on the 9 mile run!!! Is that your longest so far or have you crossed the magical 10 yet?

Barb- Wow, running in a relatively balmy 6 degree weather! ;-) You are awesome! I wimp out and opt for the TM if it gets below 30!
Fortunately my work schedule allows me to run often in the afternoon.

Judy- Sorry to hear that your hip is bothering you. I asked you a while ago but I can't remember your answer... have you ever tried the ice joggers that go over your shoes?

Laura- Sounds like you're getting some serious toning, muscle building going on with your legs! WTG with no DOMS after ME and firewalkers! Go for the cardio if it feels right for you :7

Carole- How nice that you can practice run on the race course.
I predict an awesome finish time for you:) You have me pretty excited about Humboldt, especially since the HM and full marathon start at the same time!!!

SunnyD- Have a great plyoX day}( }( }( I'm sure it'll be a piece of cake for you!

Marcia- The nice thing about p90x is that it appeals to men as well!
It would be great if your DH can do it with you. You should encourage him to give it a try! Now if I could only convince MY DH!! ;-) I'll be curious to hear what you think of plyoX, it's a very different cardio workout.

Cathy- I'm so glad to hear you got a good catch up sleep!!!! Just what you needed. Hope your day is productive and satisfying.

Thomasina- your rant about gym behaviour and perfume is one of the many reasons I work out in my basement!!! I gave serious thought to doing the June RnR marathon in S.D cuz I had so much fun in Phoenix but I decided it was just too soon, Maybe if they had a half marathon..... oh well!

Susan- Hey, I've seen your pic and you definitely can afford the occasional quarter pounder;-)

Gale- How's the shin today? I was going to go for PUB but you've inspired me to give the SS/PP workout a shot!

Time to get moving! In addition to the SS/PP workout I'll do an iTrain workout on the EXT:7 Not sure which one yet!

Later!

ShellyC

Shelly--if you lived in Michigan, you would be out there running too -- and farther than I go! Have fun with that SS/PP workout. You are doing the right thing not following the impulse to run--injury-free-ness is more important. Have fun with your EXT workout & it's really nice of you to pass on your old one to a friend.

Thomasina-- too much fragrance is one of my pet peeves....

Gayle -- I have seen Flax at regular grocery stores in the sections where they carry Uncle Bob's Brand grains in bags. I think you need to store flax in the freezer. Other Cheetahs will know more about this. I have a bag in my freezer I have yet to use...:)

barb- I had the burn going on with the firewalkers but no soreness the next day. I think its because of my bootcamp class though.

I did ME again today and tried to go heavier on the wts and I did the first 15minutes of kenpo too.

well off to do house work. talk to everyone later!
