::::: CHEETAHS (the chatters!) ::::: Sun, 2/11

Hey Lovely Cheetah ladies –

I think yesterday was a bad day for all of us, so we’ll just chalk it up as the “Offical Bad Eating Day” as Susan suggested and move forward. DH said we should have some champagne to before he left to celebrate Valentine’s Day. On top of the wine. So needless to say that my lovely dinner of salmon, wild rice and broccoli didn’t happen. Instead I ordered pizza. So, today is the first day of my official diet. No wine for a while (thank heavens!) and just good healthy eating. I’m going to be doing BMax BootCamp today. Sounds like fun.

Cathy – good job at listening to your body! I was surprised about the BFFM comment about vegans as well. I think it comes from not understanding that you can definitely get adequate protein while eating vegan. No one knows everything I guess.

Marcia – Enjoy Plyo X! That will make for an interesting 8 hours on your feet! I do like that workout, but it’s tough!! Have fun today.

Sunny – I read it in bits and pieces. I printed off the first 150 pages and read those. Now I’m up to page 232. I read it when I have a few moments. A lot of the info is redundant – I KNOW Atkins is not a good healthy choice, for example, but I know a lot of people do not, so I skim through those pages. Enjoy Plyo X

Gayle – I think we should plan a GTG in the Rockies – we can do some hiking!! Wouldn’t that be fun! I love that area. I cannot believe you were up at 7AM for a workout this morning after not being able to sleep. It is weird to have a silent house, isn’t it? I have to admit that I like having my girls home – it’s kind of like a“We’re all together and safe and all is right in my world” kind of feeling. I always know when DD17 comes in just because I worry when she’s not home. Fortunately, she’s good at obeying her curfew.

Carole – Maybe if we get together with the guys, the men will plan a trip and you and I can have some peace! LOL. Enjoy your run!

Laura – you must simply have legs of steel to have survived ME and firewalkers and not be sore. :p

Linda – BFFM is Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle. It’s another of the good books out there. Very different, though. Good luck.

Judy – sorry to hear your hip is bothering you! And I do see a difference in the way my runs go if I do leg work regulary. Adding B&G on a regular basis is a good idea, I think.

Barb – Glad to hear the your 6 degree run was warm and balmy (or at least better than last week’s run!). Have fun swimming laps – good to see your boys so dedicated!! Yeah, the time change in Australia is interesting. As I’m on the Left Coast, I always think of it as being one day ahead and six hours behind. He’ll be in a 9AM Monday Morning, which will be 3:00PM today. He lost Sunday, but gets two Fridays. Weird…

Karen – so glad to hear you’re feeling better. Sorry the girls are sick! Great job on a 9 mile run after being sick!

Wendy – Yeah, I know the feeling on the eating… Sounds like you had a good time, though.

Shelly – you’re being so good with your running! Impressive!! Also nice of you to give your old elliptical to your friend who needs one. That should help a lot! Have fun with your workout!

Thomasina – So sorry about the lady with the perfume! I workout at two different gyms. One is a meat market, the other is a family gym. I always pick the spin bike that faces the gym when I’m at the meat market as watching all the Barbie dolls in full make-up and looking perfect flirt with all of the studs amuses me. But when they get too close with all of the perfume, it makes me sick. I don’t get why some people think more is better when it comes to perfume.

Edited to add - forgot to tell y'all that I'm taking DD14 to see Camelot, the Broadway version, in San Jose. DD14 is such a Broadway buff that I thought this would be fun for today.

Have a great day Cheetah Babes!

Christine-some of my friends laugh at me and the boys because of all the time we spend together at home. And, this big house and 3 of us...so many times the 3 of us end up huddled together is one little section of the house! LOL. Homebodies....nothing wrong with that!

Shelly-hold strong. I'm trying to also! LOL. I ran 6 yesterday with intervals and have a long run of 8 tomorrow, but I'm craving it NOW! I'm toying with the idea of running the 8 on the TM tonight after the kids go to bed!!!

I'll be right back with 2 new soup recipes! YUMMY!

Gayle

I made these 2 soups this week and LOVE them both. Thought somebody else might enjoy them! ENJOY!

Gradually add broth and tomatoes. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour. Return to a boil; stir in the pasta. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 12-15 minutes or until past is tender.

shelly- plyoX is never easy. it's funny because it sneakes up on you. starts off easy but by the end i am whooped:D }(

jess- glad to see you are feeling better.

ok, well i am off to work out. chat with you ladies later!

Okay, sorry about the wierd angle and consequent view of my nostrils but I took this myself in the mirror! LOL :p

I also am not trying to look grinchy. I just have a hard time "creating" a smile for a picture so sometimes I just opt out of the smile all together.

Christine--have fun with your DD on your outing. Sounds like fun -- and that you have a good workout on deck for the day.

Laura--I get it now, you felt the burn but didn't have any DOMS....ok...you are in great shape so you are going to have to work extra hard to figure out how to "shock" that body of yours!

Gale -- thanks for the recipes. I will try the lentil soup one soon.

-Barb
:) :)

Top O' the mornin' cheetahs...

Just a quick hello and I'll be back later for personals. I have to whip up the big sunday brunch for my family, and somewhere I need to squeeze in 6 miles on the treadmill....

But first I have to say YES, YES, YES!!! to cathy, I will pay $30 for a shirt!!

K - I'll be back later ....

Thomasina

Hello ladies,
WOW, you guys have had WAY too much caffeine again this morning(LOL)!!! Well, I have a major food hangover this morning. I have no idea why}( That is okay, because today is new day and I am going to stay on track:)

We had a great time last night with my friends over. We had lots of wine and sang and played the piano and guitar until about 11pm at night. The kids were great and it was just the perfect evening.

Today, we have nothing really planned, but do a little grocery shopping and maybe take the kids and the dog out for a walk.

I am going to do 55 minutes on the elliptical and the ME upper body portion. My back has definitley been stiff the past couple of days. I am not sure why, because I have been pretty careful with it. I am dying to start running on a regular basis, but my body is telling me that I am not quite there yet. I am going to be patient a little longer...sigh

Cathy, what workout did you decide to do? I say we have a GTG in Vegas. I have never been there and it sounds like we could have a blast there! Anywhere we decide, I will be there with bells on.

Marcia, I really like Plyox. I don't do any other of his workouts but that one. That is so exciting that you received it finally. I love starting a new workout. Have a good day at work.

Sunnydelite, I LOVE LOVE that molten cake at Chilli's. That is SO worth the calories. Enjoy burning off those calories with Plyo:)

Gayle, I love watching all those infomericals about exercise. You are right, it does make you want to workout. Enjoy your lentil soup and thanks for the recipes.

Carole, My girls love Jack in the box. I am really not that into beef. I have a hamburger maybe once every couple of months. I think my body probably needed that quarter pounder(LOL)!! I find it funny when people say stuff like that:) I think a10 miler will burn off the calories you consumed. BTW, how is your back feeling?

Laura, it is funny you mention no DOMS from ME. I have to this day never had DOMS in butts and Gutts. It is funny how some workouts do that and some don't. In the heavy workouts like leaner legs, I can barely walk the next day. It sounds like you are mixing things up a bit. I am sure will start noticing a difference in your body.

Linda, I have not been to an IDEA conference in a couple of years. I love when all the vendors are there and you get all your workout gear and videos for a great price. I saw Kelli Roberts, Tamilee Web and Gin Miller at the last FACT conference I went to. Kelli Roberts is hysterical.

Judy, I hope your hip feels better. Thank goodness for the elliptical:)

Barb, great run! Thanks for the info about the book. I love getting as much info as I can on how to stretch properly and the best way. You asked how my run went the other day. It felt pretty good while I was doing it, but my back was sore the next day. So, I am going to continue do just a little bit of walk/run until it is completely pain free. My mind tells me to just run through the discomfort, but that is what got me in trouble in the first place.

Karen, WOW!!! a 9 miler after the stomach flu. You rock! That is a very impressive distance.

Wendy, thank you for joining me with the eatfest. I love pancakes. Oh shoot, I love all food(LOL)! Tomorrow you will be back on track and ready for some clean eating.

Shelly, that is nice you are helping a friend out. Good for you for giving your body a break from all the running. I am glad you are loving your elliptical. What is your fave itrain? I am going to invest in some. I have to have good music though.

Christine, I know I could count on you to join me in my eatfest yesterday. But, today no more. We are going to be good}( Let us kow how you like the bootcamp workout. I have not tried that one yet. Have fun at Camelot. I played Guinneviere in college performance at Deanza college. I love the music in this one.

Okay chatty ones,WHEW!!! I am exhausted now.(LOL)! I am off to break up another fight with my daughters. They are cheating at chutes and ladders.

Hello THomasina!

Have a great Sunday!

Susan

Okay - I think I'm officially insane. I had my workout video in the player and was thinking about how tired and unmotivated I was. So, what did I end up doing - going for a 4 mile run with Tucker then followed it with a 1 mile run with Kimo (Kimo can't go as far - she's getting old and a bit chunky - kind of like me! :p ). It's been so rainy here, and I've missed the sun so much. Today the sun is out for a bit, so I think my body was telling me that it needed vitamin D. I feel so much better.

Hi Susan! DD14 thinks it's cool that you played Guinevere. Rachel York of "Kiss Me Kate" fame (with Brent Barrett - whom DD14 thinks is sexy) is playing the part today. So that will be cool.

*walks in w/hot coffee in hand grimacing at DOMS in butt cheeks!* :7 :7 :7

Afternoon Ladies!:) I'm finally returning for personals.

As far as a Cheetahs GTG goes, I would be interested. :)

Cathy, So what work out did you opt for today? Do you have a target date for starting the X yet? Any idea which rotation you will do? (classic, lean, doubles)

Marcia, So you have officially begun the X? Which rotation did you choose? Make sure you get those pics, or at the very least, measurements taken SOON! Having concrete evidence of the results is soooo motivating!

Sunny, I saw in the X thread that you are fighting a headache off. I hope it goes away in time for you to get in PlyoX.

Gayle, I like to watch the fitness infomercials on occasion! Heck that's how I got my first beach body series (great body garunteed) as well as my first firm series (BSS 2) AND I also found out about Leslie Sansone's WATP that way which I had as well!

Carole, Chips and guac? YUMMY!:9 Enjoy your run!:) How's the weight loss coming along?

Laura/Jess, I did pilates for a while and noticed positive changes in my abdominal area from it. I have considered getting back into it but I have so much on my plate exercise wise that there is just no room for it right now.

Judy, Sorry about the hip issues. I hope it goes away soon!

Barb, Can't wait to hear about the workout your DS has planned for you today!}(

Karen, Glad to hear you are back up and about. Hope your girls get better soon as well. When that nasty virus circulated in our family at Christmas I was a lucky one who did NOT get it! Thank goodness!:) *knock on LOTS of wood* LOL

Shelly, That's very nice of you to give your old EXT to your friend. Enjoy your new toy today!}(

Christine, Bmax bootcamp? I haven't done that one yet cause it scares me! LOL Have fun!:)

Susan, Glad you had fun last night. This must have been the weekend for food and fun. Just total indulgence! It's okay though. We all need to let loose once in a while!}(

Hi Thomasina! Glad to have you popping in more often these days!:)

Well, I'm off to MIL's shortly for dinner...Catch everyone later!

:)

Christine--great job on your run -- and on being spontaneous. That's the way to do it, just listen to your body/mind/soul thing and you had fun (most important) and 5 miles, too! Are your dogs giving you dirty looks though or smiling? Very cool that your DD is into theater/broadway. Two of my nieces are very interested in theater & singing.

Wendy--I think your afternoon java is a great routine. Have a fun dinner at your MIL.
I could only do half of the workout my DS wrote -- which was 1.5 miles of swimming I did -- he wrote it for 3 miles. :p He is funny. It was fun, though -- he broke it up into segments, so the time flew. It was too far for me to swim as a first time out since summer, but I enjoyed it and now need a big nap and a box of cereal.
We all had a lap lane to ourselves at the pool & my DS-10 thought it was an absolute hoot that I was in there with them. The kids also enjoyed the 60yo gentleman in the lane next to us wearing a gold chain & speedo extra-low brief. Very bold fashion move.

Susan--you are smart to listen to your body, but it sounds so hard to hold back on doing more cardio. I am very impressed with your discipline. It is really cool you have been to fitness instructor conferences before. I don't know if I get DOMS from B&G, but I definitely feel it when I do it. I made myself stretch today after swimming.

-Barb

:)

Barb - That is so funny about your kids "mapped out your workout"! That is just like what Anna does to me! I love it! Great job on swimming 1.5 miles! I seriously do not think I could do that! My upper body is tooo weak! Oh my....lol...just picturing the speedo guy ;) No, I am not a PT, or fitness instructor. A dear friend of mine and I are planning on taking the IDEA certification exam together, but at the moment....I am nothing. :) (She is also going with Anna and I to the TK camp. ) Maddie is rotten, but so sweet! She is growing so fast! Thanks for asking!

Karen - I am glad you are feeling better! Great job on the 9 miles!

Wendy - What a good picture! I love your new avatar!

Susan - I have never been to an IDEA conference! I cannot wait to go! I have always wanted to, but just never did! Your night last night sounded like sooo much fun! Sounds like a really good workout that you have planned.

Christine - Sounds like a fun run with your doggies! I hope one of these days, Maddie will run with me! You are not getting old and chunky!!! (wagging finger at you)

Thomasina - Enjoy the brunch and run! You can send some food my way, while you are at it :)

Sunny - HOpe your headache is all better!

Gayle - Thanks for the soup recipes! They look delicious!

I ended running at an easy pace for 15 minutes on the treadmill to warmup and then did the treadmill portion of Barry's BC Shoulders and Back (which ended up being 4 miles) and then the weight section of that one. I loved it!

Oh....another one here that fell off the wagon on the eating today! We went to our favorite Mexican rest. and I ate toooo many chips and cheese dip! It's all Carole's fault, cause she was talking about the chips and guacamole! ;) ;) Just kidding Carole!

Talk to you guys later!

Linda

Oh my goodness! You *are* a chatty bunch!! I know I'll never catch up today!! I'm feeling MUCH better but surprisingly still not much appetite. I guess that's not a *bad* thing!

I was going to get up to work out, but forgot to set my alarm. I'm just going to do some pilates & stretch today.

Laura ~ Yes, I lost a lot of weight just from walking & pilates. I really haven't lost any weight since starting Cathe almost a year ago. Pilates helped lean out my tummy & shrink my buns. In fact, since starting the heavier weight training I feel like I'm thicker in the buns/ thighs. So I'm backing off the weights & focusing more on the lighter reps & doing my buns/ thighs regularly. It's worked for me in the past.

Thanks for peeking at our bathroom! For anyone that missed it http://www.picturetrail.com/jess_jugs I am soooo happy with it. Greg's working on the moulding & put in a new shower head after church. His brother Brian is here & we're just hanging out. I have some laundry & cleaning up to do around here! That's what happens when Moms get sick.

OK, gotta run but wanted to check on my Cheetahs!! Have a great Sunday!

Hi cheetahs~
Got in a nice 60-min. run OUTSIDE today – woohoo! It was 33 – not bad at all!! My Garmin was dead and – gasp! – I can’t find my charger ANYWHERE. I’m afraid I lost the danged thing. :( But it was good to run w/out it because it meant my Polar functioned without any trouble. I was surprised at how high my HR was despite taking it nice & easy AKA sloooooooow. It said I burned 811 calories. Anyway, I’m surprised I had no DOMS after yesterday’s 45 min. run + L&G.

Shelly :: smart woman resisting the urge to run!! What a great friend you are to give your old ETX away instead of selling it—I’m sure you coulda made a buck on it. My day has been a mix of productive & relaxing – in between work, I’ve napped and run. I'm now debating whether or not to whip through 100 of the 300 papers awaiting me. I probably *should* but I feel myself gradually moving into shutdown mode when it comes to schoolwork. I'm simply tired of bringing so much of it home. One thing that needs to happen is obvious: I’m going to stop assigning all these essays!!!! *lol*

Gayle :: I found ground flax at Trader Joe’s. I have yet to add it to my protein shakes, though. Don’t ask me why. I’ve been meaning to. Thanks for posting those recipes ~ they both sound delicious.

Christine :: personally, I would be up for a GTG just about anywhere! I love travel. Hope you and DD enjoyed Camelot. I needed to get outside today, too – it felt great to suck in some fresh oxygen.

Sunny :: hope the headache’s gone…yes, you did add in your bday correctly. Thanks!

Wendy :: lol about your nostril comments…*both* of your photos look good, but esp. the one of you smiling…you have a gorgeous smile ~ I think you should show it to the camera more often! I hope everyone else posts theirs soon, too, because it really is nice to associate more names and faces…I don’t know when I’ll be starting the X…according to the website, it will be 5-7 business days before it arrives…so I guess I might as well wait til March.

Susan :: hope enjoyed the ETX & ME u/b. Sounds like a great time last night!

Barb :: interesting Speedo sighting. *lol* You did a lot today – I think you earned a nap!

Cathy :)

Jess-great job on your bathroom, office & DDs room. It all looks nice -- as does your hair! Hope you keeping feeling better all the way back to normal!

Linda--does this mean that Maddie needs to start with Basic Step to work up to running with you? :+ i kept wondering if the wife of the guy wearing the speedo had planned to swim, but then she saw her hubby in his Euro-brief and decided to stay in the car!

-Barb
:)

Barb - The silly little thing would probably chew my step up instead of doing "Basic Step!"

Cathy - I have been trying to talk DH into waiting to go the Vegas in Dec. so that I could run the 1/2. We always go in October and I have a hard time getting him to change anything. I only get 2 weeks vacation a year x( ( I am using around a week for both California trips) But....Maybe I could still swing it. That would be sooo nice!

Jess, your pictures look great! You have really been busy remodeling!

Sheesh! You guys are talkative as usual. I have not worked out yet today. Before I went to bed last night I thought I'd give my PF one more day off from running and do my long run tomorrow. DH usually runs about 10 miles on Mondays so the other plus is that I will get to run with him. I woke up this morning with no pain!!! And it's been coopoerating all day. So I am hoping that tomorrow's run will be a good one.

Carole, Thanks for the 4 day tip. I'm 1/2 through day 1 and doing fine. I thought that I would just concentrate on and exclusively clean diet for the 4 days you mentioned and worry about calories once I have the consistency down. I also ordered Eat To Live yesterday so I might get some help with that.

Cathy, Thanks for the tip on getting started on my 4 day clean eating committment. When you mentioned that it requires mental toughness a light went on in my head. I said to myself "My goodness, you can run 26.2 miles without stopping and the mental toughness that requires is beyond anything else you have ever done. If you can do that you can eat clean for 4 days!". I bet you guys don't realize how much I cherish my cyber friendships! Also, I have lots of other workouts besides Cathe's but I rarely have the enthusiasm to do them. Oh, and also, a Las Vegas GTG would be doable for me but I don't know about Chicago....

Marcia, LOL at you teaching Sunday school then heading to the bar after!! Too funny! You are one busy cheetah!

Sunny, BFFM is a terrific book but there is a lot of information in it. I've had it for over a year and still haven't read the whole thing. I love PlyoX too. I thought some of the moves in B&G and DrillMax (which I have only previewed) were very similar to some of the moves in PlyoX.

Gayle, I have trouble sleeping when DH is gone but mostly because I am scared!! LOL! I watch too many true crime shows for sure! Your soup recipes look yummy. I'm a homebody too but DH is not. Alot of times I just have to grin and bear it when he wants to go off in the trailer somewhere. To tell the truth it kind of bugs me to be pulled away from my workouts and weekend trips away do just that. Oh, not to mention that I am in charge of feeding everyone around here so taking a trip in the trailer requires me to plan meals that are portable or can be easily cooked. Oh, and I have to gather my and my kids clothes that we will need when we are gone. And I can't forget the added laundry when we get home from the bed lines we use in the trailer. Boy, do I sound like an ungratefule whiny woman or what!!!

Wendy, You are a doll! Funny too. That's actually a good picture of you. Let me tell you how bad a person can be in a 24 hour time span......on second thought, never mind. I'm trying to put that all behind me LOL! So what workout gave you butt DOMS? I want some!

Judy, Don't you just love having EXT? It's so awesome for crosstraining to keep injuries at bay or from getting bad.

Laura, I love lots of cardio too and average 6 days of cardio a week. I don't feel right if I don't get that much. This past week has been an off week and I've only gotten in 3 cardio workouts but that happens from time to time so I do get unscheduled breaks.

Linda, Where do you live again? You've certainly got a lot of trips out this way planned. I'm with you on the Vegas GTG.

Barb, Awww shucks! I was hoping that you could make the Humbolt trip but I completely understand why you won't. I guess I'm going to have to reserve that January date that you'll be out because there is no way I would pass up the chance to meet up with you. I don't know how you women run in that freezing weather! That's awesome!

Karen, Glad to hear you are back to feeling better. I know from experience that children with a stomach flu can result in some pretty nasty messes. I hope you haven't had to deal with any of that! Great job on your run after being sick.

Shelly, I'm not running on consecutive days either. When I was training for Saint George I did a pace run the day before my long run but I'm feeling a little more broken down these days with the PF and all. That's why I just love my EXT....I don't feel like I'm missing out that much.

Christine, LOL at you watching the show from the spin bike. That is totally something I would enjoy doing! Ved travels alot doesn't he? I actually like it when my DH goes away for a bit. (Except for late at night.) I love him dearly but I am much more laid back than he is and so I relax more when he is gone. Sort of like a mini vacation!! Jeez, does that sound bad? Enjoy Camelot with DD.

Susan, I can totally relate to the yearning to run full steam ahead. Thing is, I (stupidly?) have signed up for a marathon and so I need to get out there in full force soon. It sounds like you had a fabulous evening last night!

Jess, Your bathroom and desk look great! So do you and the rest of the family! Feeling better?

Thomasina, I didn't read all of yesterday's posts but I gather from today's replies to you that you ran into a stinky person at the gym and that the stink came from perfume? I have never been a long term gym member. I have only done stints when I needed access to cardio equipment to cross train. I much prefer working out at home. So, we're gonna meet up in San Diego, right?

I hope I got everyone. I gotta go now and talk to DS about To Kill A Mockingbird. He's reading that in his lit class and so we watched the movie earlier since he really needs the visual in order to grasp the written. I had forgotten how much I love that book/movie. I had also forgotten that Robert Duvall played Boo Radley and that it was his first or second movie roll. In TKAMB he had no lines!

Talk to you all later!

Whew! The chatty cathe cheetah check-in….lol…say that five times fast!

Ok, finished cooking up a storm for the family and made myself a yummy roll-up with the new Flat Out wrap bread I picked up yesterday. (Thank you Jess for introducing them). I chopped up a bit of red onion, red bell pepper, zucchini, and bit of raw cashews and then sautéd them a little with a pinch of olive oil, cinnamon & cumin. Then I added the mixture to some scrambled egg beaters and then wrapped it all up in a harvest wheat flat Out bread. Oh and some salsa on the side. YEEEEEUUUUM!! Ok, sorry folks, I forgot I wasn’t in clean eating thread. Speaking of clean eating…uh, ya, this cheetah/mule fell off the wagon last night as well… Sheesh, I wanted ice cream sooo bad that I snuck into the local market after dropping DS at the dance last night. After much deliberation over the massive amount of fat and calories in one pint of Ben and Jerry’s, I decided to binge on those scrumptious little skinny cow ice cream sandwiches. Uggh…I ate 4!!! YES THAT”S RIGHT, FOUR of them last night. Holy “cow” is right. LOL I think I woke up with a sugar hang over though. Today I’ll be better I think that the urge to binge has passed. I’ll be cooking up some healthy clean stuff later to last me for the upcoming busy week at work etc.

Cathy – you must know by now I’ll pay $30 for a shirt(s) I’ll get 2 if need be. Too bad I couldn’t get the Shrek donkey in cheetah spots on mine though..LOL. THE LAS VEGAS HALF WORKS FOR ME!!

Marcia – Wow, another busy cheetah. My DH would say you too have “too much on your plate” for a much as you have going on. Good luck with the P90X stuff.

Sunny – Yes I do, in Northern California. In a town called Colfax, on the way to Lake Tahoe. Our favorite place to stay in Tahoe is only an hour drive away. Sunnyside Lodge on the California side. MMMmmmm yummy fried zucchini there..

Gayle – thanks for posting the lentil soup recipe. Sounds yummy. I know how you feel when everyone is out of the house. Sometimes I get real excited about being home alone and sometimes I’m not. Although, sometimes I have had big plans to get stuff done while they’re all out, but I end up taking a nap instead since it is so quiet! I hardly ever get to nap.

Carole – WTH is exactly what I felt like! If DD17 almost 18 goes ahead and moves out, I’m going to use her room for new workout area. I’ll just need to buy an elliptical to go with my treadmill, weights, dvd’s etc. Then I can cancel the membership altogether. I really only go to the gym because of the elliptical. I’m looking at the Clam run. Have you done this? Crossing the river? looks pretty neato though. I’ll keep my eye on that one, but we’re also tossing around going to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii next year with DS and DD, so I’ll have to watch the dates. Chips and Guacamole are more foods I could founder on if I were a horse!

Judy – Sorry to hear about your hip issues. I know what that feels like and how aggravating it can be when it interferes with running. Hope you can get it healed up. Thanks again for the Newman’s LF sesame dressing and coleslaw idea! Yesterday I whipped up some broccoli coleslaw mix, the dressing, some red bell pepper and green onions, and a smidge of chopped cashews and wrapped it up in a Low cal Flat out bread. YUMMO!!

Barb – Ah, good job on the swimming. I haven’t swam in over a year and I miss it. All this talk of swimming has rekindled my interest….Thanks for the tip on the book too. Uh, I think that speedo guy was in Cozumel last October. LOL yep, the same speedo and gold chain appeared at the pool and my DH and brother had a few comments…

Karen – Glad you’re feeling better; hope your little ones can recover quickly too. Good job running 9 miles after being sick! You are amazing!

Wendy – Wow, pizza and beer! Ya, us cheetahs should have been checking into the dirty eating thread for sure! lol Love the shirt; I’m jealous!! I want a shirt …whaaaa..whaaaa….lol Have fun at your MIL’s.

Shelly – Awe, you can still come to San Diego! They only have a half (that isn’t advertised) for some of the folks doing the TNT running for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. My local chapter let me know this. How about the San Jose half in October? lol… I know, you are already focusing your enabledness on the Humbolt run! Hey, my schedule is pretty booked for the last half of October but I am thinking I may be able to get away for a quick 5 k up there…I dunno. I’ll be running a half the weekend before that. Ah geez, these cheetahs and the enabling can drive a girl crazy!! lol

Christine – Yeah, Christine, you and I will help each other stay out of the vineyard. LOL I’m also not going near the grape juice lately. I just don’t have room for the calories if I want to lose this excess baggage. Yeah, the meat market gyms can be entertaining too, but I can’t handle the scents. I’m hoping to make DD17’s room into a gym soon. I know you asked about her and let’s just say that she WAS doing better. Now she’s decided to be engaged to the not so wonderful boyfriend. She still won’t get a job and her attitude toward all of us at home is back in the toilet. Anyhoo, her father and I are trying really hard to deal with her effectively and set limits. She behaves so much like her mother it is eerie. She hasn’t seen her in what 10 years? OK, I better get off the rant. I just keep praying for her and offering up clues for her to help herself; that’s the best I can do for now without neglecting the other kids. I think my DH is giving up on her and is thankful the other 2 Kids still talk to with us and want to “hang” with us.-so far. Whew…sorry to write a book…lol Have fun with Camelot!

Susan – How fun, to drink wine and play piano! I’m still working on learning to play piano. I go to a lesson every week but I have to really work hard to find practice time. I won’t give up though. I had to laugh at your binge! We all have had some pretty crappy foods this weekend, but I think you get the dirtiest eating prize for the weekend..lol. McDonald’s has got to be the worst! LOL. My DD16 works at there and eats that crap. I keep telling her that she’s going to wake up looking like me if she doesn’t stop. Right now she’s a skinny minny.

Linda – The food is all gone, sorry. What I made for them wasn’t the cleanest anyway. lol

Laura – No DOMS? Wow, I get them from B&G but only in the quads mostly.

Jess – So happy you are doing better. Your bathroom looks great! Can you send your DH out to California for a week of remodeling here? LOL Have fun with your BIL and Hanging out.

Elaine - yep, I put in yesterday's post that I booked my flights San Diego. I will be staying at the Manchester Hyatt Saturday and Sunday nights. We will meet up for sure! Are you coming with your family? As for the stinky gym issues, I can't wait to buy (and have a place for) an elliptical and then I can cancel the gym membership!

Have a great evening chatty cheetahs!

Thomasina…:7

Edited to add: Shelly! Look! forget San Jose, come to the Vegas half in december! :)
