::::: CHEETAHS ::::: TGIF, 2/9

OK, I have to admit it. I'm sick. I haven't felt that miserable in ages. I think it's the flu (influenza, not the stomach flu). I started not feeling well after supper, had a headache & my nose was drippy. I took a warm bath & then got hit w/ the full blown fever, chills, body aches, etc. It felt like total body DOMS!! }( I think I'm still running a fever this morning, of course I can't find the thermometer. I tossed & turned last night, alternating between cold chills & that feeling of burning up. YUCK!! Man, it hit me fast too.

I managed to get the girls off to school & after I drop Allison off at preschool I'll come back to rest/ nap. There goes my morning time at the Y!! :-( I'll have to take my rest day today.

OK, no more whining from me. My dh said I'm only allowed 1 sick day so I'd better get well fast. LOL (he was just teasing me!) He was giving me all kinds of grief last night making me crack up (which hurt my poor body!), and when I told him to stop he told me that, "laughter is the best medicine..." Yep, he has a good sense of humor. LOL

Off to snuggle w/ my dd & watch cartoons for a few minutes before getting her ready for school! I'll be back later!

And thanks for peeking at my pics! Y'all are too sweet!

Oh Jess, I hope you are feeling better soon. I had that Influenza a couple years ago and was down for the count for about four days - literally unable to even move I was hurting so bad. Fingers crossed for quick recovery.

Gayle - Nope, no package yet, hopefully today.

Thank you all for being so kind and supportive (and listening to me whine and complain) - what a wonderful group we have here.

A SINCERE THANK YOU!
Marcia. :* :* :*

Jess - hope you're feeling better!!! *sends healing vibes to Jess and Karen*

Carole - I would love it if ALL of us were getting together! This is an incredible group of women!! My DH cooks only occasionally, too, but that's okay. Whenever he cooks it's very fattening! Delicious, but...

I ended up doing a fun little mish mosh. Did BMax 1's step with SJP step and ended with BMax 1's abs. I had forgotten how fun BMax 1 really is. I'm going to have to do that one again the whole way through soon.

Now, off to shower and spend the next 1/2 an hour trying to decide what to wear to meet SUSAN!!! :D

late check in for me again.

I'm not caught up on posts from Y'day & today, but wanted to say "hi!"

Christine & Susan--have fun today you lucky ladies!!!!

I did a 3 mile TM run and 2-3 sets of UB from BC

But I got up 2 hours late--then when putting something away in the "extra" freezer in the basement, a bottle of Kahlua my DH has had in there since about 1995 fell and broke all over the floor. It broke because a piece of the freezer (which is like a used car from hell) broke off, carrying the kahlua bottle with it.) Why did we need to store Kahlua for over 10 years?

My biggest accomplishment of the day so far was not picking a fight with DH about this issue.

It's just one of those days. Got home late, late last night from work & picking up older DS.
Got up late. Got my workout in late.. Missed an exit to pick up DS so I was late.

DH is heading out of town for a week, so I may not be checking in as regularly...he's going to a "work" meeting where he goes skiing for 4 days, in between his "work." He's just bugging me for no good reason other than the fact that I'm jealous that he gets a vacation and I don't. Not mature, but there it is......

I will spend the rest of the day searching for my good vibes, which are currently missing.

Jess-sorry you're under the weather.

Marcia--the problem with work is you're not interested in being a drama coach?

Cathy -- WTG purchasing the X. I think you'll really like it, especially because you like GS tapes so much.

Carole -- if I lived closer, I'd join you and Elaine in a second!

-Barb

Good morning cheetahs! I was quite busy yesterday and missed posting. I see it was the usually chatty bunch. I have a lot to catch up on! I was finally able to break in my new EXT! I did a hill climbing program and a moderate level for 60min. Boy was I sweating!!! (Love it}( ) I followed that up with the KPC/LG circuit and I was cooked for the day. Anyway, spent the entire rest of the day at the vet with my older dog Birdy (she's 11) The poor thing can't use her R rear leg at all and as it turns out she's torn one of the cruciate ligaments in her knee and will need surgery:(
You don't think of those kind of injuries happening in dogs!

Anyway, for today it'll be LIC upperbody circuit and another hour go around with my terrific new elliptical! I think tomorrow I'll be running again:) :)

Back for personals!

ShellyC

Good morning ladies,
Today is the day I meet another wonderful cheetah:) I am so looking forward to it. But, I have to do a crazy #$#%% workout to burn off some of the calories that I am going to ingest.

I am going to do Body Max 2 scrambled eggs, which I have not done since Xmas. It will be a real kick in the pants}(

I just realized I have to go now to take kids to school.

BBL!

Susan

Shelly--Sorry about your dog. That's sad she needs surgery. Great job on your workout yesterday. What great leg training. Have fun with LIC and enjoy your new EXT. I maybe heading out to fitness stores in the next few weeks with a tape measure to see if I can fit one somewhere in my low-ceiling'd house.

Chrsitine--great mish mosh. Your new plan is off to a great start. Aren't you wearing your Cheetah t-shirt to meet Susan??

:7 :7 :7 :7 :7 PERSONALS:7 :7 :7 :7 :7

Barb- doesn't sound like a fun day for you:( Sorry about your Kalua catastrophe! I'd be way jealous of my DH too.... positively!!!

Jess- It does sound like the classic flu bug.... poor Jess! Don't you get a flu shot? Sorry, it's that pesky nurse in me coming out again! I'll check out the article about the foam rollers, I've been considering trying those. I think you should check out using an IT band compression wrap!

Christine- Great early Valentines day gift! I gotta share with you.
Every year my DH this time of year asks me without fail...."So when is Valentines day this year?" Bless his heart, it always makes me laugh but I still haven't ever gotten anything! Sounds like you had a fun workout! I'm so in love with BM2 I've forgotten about BM1!

Wendy- I'm glad to hear that Joey has gotten back on track and you're back to a more routine schedule. Have fun with your step class. I've been considering getting the Baron's yoga workout you mentioned. How do you like it?

Marcia- Count me in with the others with being in awe of your many talents!!! It's too bad you can't do the bartending/waitressing full time. I consider that to be a very demanding job anyway but you seem to enjoy it. Don't be concerned about whining or venting
(whatever you want to call it) We all do that!

SunnyD- I think KPC is alot better of a workout that KenpoX anyway. I never did get much out of that workout I'm afraid.
TEN clients yesterday    I think word has gotten out about you!!!

Susan- Congratulations about getting the go ahead to resume running!!! I know how anxious you are to finally get back at it!
Let us know how it goes!

Elaine- check this out... www.thefootwheel.com. For PF I think it works wonders!

Gayle- I'm sorry I missed yesterday.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY:+ :+ :+
Sorry it ended on a bad note with your DS being sick!:( I'm glad you're resting today! I'll go check out your racing pics!

Carole- When is the Humboldt race? I think it would be so cool to run among those tall redwoods! You're rotation sounds great!

Kristi- I hope you had a great "vacation" day and got accomplished all the cleaning you had in mind. Kudos to you!

Laura- I thought I would reply to your question about caliper measurements. To get an overall body fat percentage estimate it is best to measure in 3 areas, arms, legs, abd. However, that being said... Healthwise the most important area to measure is the abd (where excess bodyfat does the most harm). I think it is an excellent idea to incorporate more total body weight workouts to your routine. You were concentrating ALOT on cardio and I think this approach should get you the results you want :)

Judy- Thank you so much for you kind wonderful comment on my pic!
It took some courage to post my face:eek: I'm hoping to inspire others to do likewise. It's great to have a face with the words!
I love the SS/PP workout you posted yesterday! Gonna definitely try that one!

Cathy- saved the best for last! Glad you enjoyed my thank you pic!
We've had beautiful weather here lately and I was standing on my back deck. The mountain in the background is Granite Mtn which I've hiked a few times.... great hike! You won't regret caving in and ordering p90x! I hope you can catch up some on all your responsibilities over the weekend. I'm in such awe of you, I really don't know how you manage it all!

Hi to anyone I've missed! Time to get moving..

ShellyC

Barb- I read your post and just had to comment. We do have days like this and yours is a classic rotten one.

So Here is a (((((hug)))))

At least you got your workout in; but I feel your pain. I have had many a day where the silly putty hammer is just not enough. Any chance for a bath and a good book later?

Check back and let us know you are managing.

Jes- You too sweetie! rest up and push those fluids.

Judy "Likes2bfit"

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

Cathy--300 papers? That's unbelievable. I can't tell you how that just doesn't happen at my kid's middle school. He is registering for high school now, and I've had to call some teachers with questions about which classes are the right ones for him to take -- and the high school teachers were great (and sound more like you...) So I hope your 8th grade parents appreciate the time and attention you are giving their kids.

Shelly--Thanks for the support. I appreciate it. My DH is a great guy, and does a lot to help. He would probably be really happy for me if I had a 4-day ski vacation -- so I am working on trying to "be positive" but it will just take a little bit more chocolate to get there.

Wendy--you are putting your heart and soul into P90x and getting great results. It's hard to do more than one thing at a time. Running will always be there for you. It's more fun to run in spring anyway. I might have missed this, but is Joey feeling better?

Jess- stay warm and take good care of yourself. I hope you feel better soon.

Susan--that's such great news from the P.T. You can ease back into running wiser about your own body now, which must feel so great.

Gayle -- I can't believe your basement is so cold. Great photos. I like #487 especially. It looks cold as it was that day!

Sunny-- have fun with KPC. I love that one.

Laura--have fun with the total body workout. I like ME a lot and the BC-ME bonus combo. For that thud area, I have found doing lunges & floor work with ankleweights really regularly has helped for toning and for supporting running.

Thomasina--great to see you back. I refuse to think of you as a mule, unless it's in the spirit/personality of the one in Shrek! After a big workout, my DH thinks he's the cat from Shrek....

Karen--sorry you were under the weather. I hope you feel better. :)

Judy--Sorry about DH's car. Amazing how then it's like a domino effect on the rest of the day. I will have to try that PP-SS combo next week on an UB day. Thanks for the tip!

Carole--have a good run, UB and ab day. I agree with your comments about rap: not crazy about the music, but enjoy the beat. Y'day, I listened to a song DS gave me by the group Flogging Molly called "drunken lullabies." It's fun to do in a hard portion of a run, it's like a Irish Folk beat -- weird but I really liked it.

Hi to Kristi, Elaine, Colleen and anyone else I am missing.
Off to try to get a few things done.
-Barb

:) :)

Hi Shelly- You posted while I was (slowly) writing. If that is your deck, you have a beautiful view!

I changed my mind upon arriving in my workout area and chose Cardio Fusion. This morning was was my virgin attempt at it. It was fun and my Hr was at 167 at the end. I didn't wear the Polar F4 because I returned it. It was faulty.

( I did order the Polar F6 HRM)

This ((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))) is for all of us. We need it!!!

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

Good morning! Thanks goodness it is Friday!

Gayle – Happy Belated Birthday to you!!! Also, your race pictures are good! You did so well….and in the frigid cold weather, too!

Cathy – Enjoy MM! It has been quite a while since I have done that workout! My goodness! 300 papers to grade! I don’t see how you do all that you do! You are amazing! Try to get a little R&R soon!

Sunny – KP&C is the workout that I most sub in for Kenpo! I like that the abs on that one are shorter and to the point!

Marcia – My goodness, you are one busy girl, too! Don’t work too hard!

Wendy – Enjoy your step class and Baron!

Laura – I finally ordered Barry’s Bootcamp and got it yesterday! I am excited! Do you like the full body workout? I haven’t got to finish previewing them yet.

Karen – I hope you feel better soon!

Christine – Enjoy your lunch with Susan! That would be so neat to be able to get together with other Cheetahs! That sounds like a good steady state!

Judy – Enjoy your TM or EXT, whichever you decide to do!

Carole – Enjoy your run and PUB back!! Are you running inside or outside?

Jess – Oh dear! Feel better soon!Pictures? I didn’t see them, I will have to go find ‘em!

Barb – Good job on your workout. Oh my, sorry about the broken bottle….and the ski trip! I can sympathize! I get aggravated when my DH has meeting that are actually, pleasure mixed in with the “work”, especially when you need a vacation too!!! Maybe you can find something fun to do that you can’t do when he is around!

Shelly – Your pictures with the Cheetah shirt was cute! Glad you enjoyed your new EXT! I’ll bet following with the circuit was tough! I am sorry about Birdy! I sure hope she feels better!

Susan – Have fun having lunch with Christine! That is awesome! Have fun!

Well, I finally ordered Barry’s Bootcamp and received it yesterday. I think I am going to really like it! I previewed a couple of them.

This morning I did GS BS&B. I had to finish my upper body this week with GS’s since I had previously done C&T earlier in the week ! ;) Then, I did the treadmill portion of Barry’s BC Legs and Btt. It was fun! I will start doing the weight portions of these after today.

Hi to anyone that I may have missed or that checks in later!

Linda

To funny Barb!! {{{HUGS}}} for your bad day. If it makes you feel any better, there I am walking out the door with the strut in my step that says I'm feeling good. When what do I do but lean over to pick up my computer while holding a cup filled with smoothie. Smoothie ended up all over the floor and I had to stop to clean up that mess. It's not 10 year old Kahlua and not as big of a mess, but...

Aaaaahhhhhh. It’s Friday! I’m going to give my PF one more day off and use my elliptical today instead of running. I’ll also do the B&G leg blast premix. Hopefully I’ll be good to go for my Sunday long run.

Shelly, Thanks! I just ordered a wheel from Road Runner Sports. Yesterday I ordered a ProStretch. Between the ibuprofen, ProStretch, Wheel and night splint I might get this PF to back off. My DH went for almost a year dealing with it and he never eased up on his running. I have a renewed respect for him since I now know it can hurt like a b*+ch.

Carole, I am totally serious about running Humbolt with you! That would be so awesome. Beyond words awesome. Oh, and I’ve been thinking about you a lot these past few days and not necessarily in a good way!!! You unknowingly have been an enabler. Added to my list of forbidden loves are Kettle Chips! So far I have had salt and pepper, salt and vinegar and honey Dijon. Needless to say I’m having no trouble holding on to the extra 7 lbs I’ve been sporting since after CIM.

Barb, Big squeezy hugs coming your way. Some days I am just amazed at how sure I am that I hate my DH so we all have days like yours. I hope it gets better for you today! Hey, the Humbolt Redwoods marathon is a simple plane ride away! Can you make it?

Christine/Susan, Enjoy your lunch together. Can’t wait to see pictures. I think the jealousy I am feeling is two part. First, that you two get to sit down together and chat for a while in person and second, that it will be over INDIAN FOOD!!! Luckyyyyyyy!

Cathy, Sounds like you are extremely busy! I would be nuts if I tried to juggle as many things as you have going on. Hopefully your weekend will be conducive to the recharging you need.

Sunny, It sounds like you have a full time job with the PTing. That’s awesome! I bet it’s rewarding too.

Laura, So how do you like Barry’s Bootcamp? I know about that blob feeling these days. I’m one of those people who eats when everything in my world is not hunky dory and I’ve been struggling for a few months now. I know what I am doing when I do it and I find myself saying “Well, my brother died when he was 49 years old and is no longer able to enjoy an entire bag of chips in one day.” But then I follow it up by asking myself “Well, what is more important to you? Being in shape and at a weight that you are comfortable with or seizing the day through a not so good diet?” Sigh…..

Marcia, I know about hating the full time job. As of June I am no longer working at the job I held for almost 20 years! For the past 6 years I was only working part time but I hated every minute of it. So at 47 years old I am in school switching from being a programmer to a paralegal. Something tells me I am on the right track because in my Real Estate Law class the other night the teacher sort of apologized for the dryness of the subject matter that week. Well, I didn’t find it dry at all! Who would have thought that easements would float my boat??? Oh, and you forgot to add Mom to your list of jobs! I am just in awe of all that you manage to get done. When do you sleep? Do you ever just kick back?

Wendy, I was happy to read the other day that Joey is feeling better and allowed you to get an uninterrupted workout done. So where do you order the PT study material from? Is it expensive? Hmmmm. Now you’ve got me thinking! And I just love it that you are doing yoga now! Did you get rid of your Mr. Yummypants DVD?

Karen, Sorry about the stomach flu. Yuck! My DD’s friend has it right now so I am praying that they didn’t play together while the friend was contagious. I hope you feel better soon.

Gayle, Glad to hear your birthday celebration was good. Not glad to hear about sick DS. Is it that nasty stomach flu? I hear you on the bad feelings after eating bad. You’d think that alone would keep me eating clean every day but the memories of how unclean food makes me feel seems to fade with time so I’m a repeat offender too often!

Judy, For my PF I ordered a thing called a ProStretch. Did you use something like that or did you do other stretches. Also, I vaguely remember you mentioning some OTC orthotics that you use. Do you still find them helpful? If you do what are they called again? I’m gonna lick this PF yet!

Jess, Me, DD and DS had the flu you describe a few weeks ago. After it was all over I felt like I had missed 5 whole days of my life. Take care of yourself and I hope you are feeling better soon! Don’t feel bad about taking your rest day today and be sure not to force yourself to workout too soon!

Whew! I hope I got everyone! If I didn’t it was not intentional.

I’m going to go workout now.

Linda--thanks for the suggestion. That's a good idea. I'll start thinking of something fun. Good job on your UB workout & Barry's Legs & Butt. Have fun with the other Barry's workouts.

Christine--thanks for the smoothie story. At least you didn't spill it on yourself! I guess if we were a real kahlua-drinking family, it would have felt different. But it's one of many items in our house that just needs to be chucked. Too much clutter hiding out in my house.

-Barb
:) :)

Elaine--Thanks for the big hugs. I'm feeling a little less homicidal now. It sounds like you are on the attack with your PF and will get it licked. I'm glad you like your new classes. That is such a gift to find a job in a content area that holds your interest. I doubt I can hop on a plane to do that race, but maybe in Jan. 2008 to that race Carole posted a week or so ago. It will be my "work" meeting.

Have a good workout!
-Barb:)

linda and barb- I think all of barrys workouts look good. Alot of the cardio stuff though is the same.

christine- I will let you know how adding more wts in goes for me. I am crossing my fingers.

cathy-cant wait to see the shirt!

Hey there ladies!

Well my step class was fun this morning. Just finished Long and Lean. I liked it. I had trouble doing all of the upper body strength portion though. I ended up fastforwarding through some of it. I think it might be due to having just done B&B y'day and having DOMS in my arms from it. Aaaah well. You know what they say-practice makes perfect right? :)

I'm off to the shower now. I hope to have time to come back for a cup of coffee and some personals before DS wakes up so keep your fingers crossed for me!;)

Ciao Bellas!:D
