::::: CHEETAHS ::::: TGIF, 2/2

Judy-I think we were posting at the same time. Good job on that run and in ice & snow. It took me a few times with my HR monitor to get it to settle down: wetting it before putting it on, finding a good position, making sure it's tight enough? Keep experimenting. I have a different model but it has the soft band with the pieces that releases entirely. I make sure that piece is wet before attaching it to the belt. HTH!

have a good day with your chores & errand to the P.O.
-Barb:)

Good morning ladies,
I ended up taking a rest day yesterday. My knees felt a little sore yesterday. I have not had a rest day this week, so it is okay. I feel good this morning and am going to hop on my ellipitcal and then do some lying leg work from legs and glutes. I am getting a massgae today, which I am definitley looking forward to.

Judy, I a have a polar F4 and love it. I find it very easy to set up and to read. I am not sure why it was saying 105.106.107. Maybe just go back through it and re-check what you have entered:)

Great run too!

Cathy, the check is in the mail, finally! Great news about your 5lb weight loss. If you are anything like me, the hard part is keeping those lbs off. I find that I really have to weigh myself frequently to keep the weight off. Enjoy your workout today.

Sunnydelite, I too would love to have 17or 18lb weights. I need them for chest work. Let us know if you try the platemates and if you like them.

Marcia, have fun at your conference.

Wendy, I remember the day that Mariah stopped taking her naps. My day really changed. I did my workouts in the evening when my hubby got home. I would work out from about 7-8:30. I did not mind it. I am glad now though that I can workout in the morning, so I can get it done.

Laura, great news about your job!

Karen, what? no yoga today? Have a good run:)

Kristi, do the platemates just stick on to the dumbells easily? I am definitley going to look into these.

Barb, that sounds like a fun workout. Oh, and the bread recipe, YUM!!!

Carole, have a great run and I am glad you are enjoying your new t.v.:)

Linda, I love BSB. Hopfefully you can get it all in.

Gayle, how fun to do a race on super bowl sunday. I betcha everyone is going to be chowing down!

Wendy, the running will always be there for you do to later. but, I understand your frustration. I am definitley ready for a run too.

Well, hello to everyone that follows. Have a great day gals!

Susan

Good morning cheetahs! This sure has been a busy group lately:7
Okay all you enablers.... I finally caved and did buy a new elliptical yesterday:) I can't wait to ditch my rickety old model!
I looked over the ProForms and Nordictracks and some others but didn't like the way they felt. I ended up going to a specialized fitness equipment store where we've made purchases before and bought a Vision model. It's the same brand as my TM which I dearly love. It doesn't have a lot of fancy bells and whistles but it has a smooth wonderful stride and I know it will be extremely dependable.
Anyway, it will be delivered next Tuesday :7

Judy- Your experience running with the HRM is why I seldom use one.
I just get too frustrated.... x( Have you considered getting those strap on special ice joggers? They may help save some strain on your hip/back. I'm afraid my SB plans aren't very fun... I'll be working.

Gayle- Wow do you have a packed race schedule:eek:  What a great idea to race the morning of the superbowl! You'll be able to indulge in chips and dip without guilt:7 I'm sorry to hear that your Mom is battling with cancer:( It's great though that she has you for support. That makes all the difference in the world.

Wendy- Okay, now I've heard it all.... a potty training DVD!! LOL!
I hope Joey cooperates a little better with his nap so Mom can get in a good workout. It's Core Syn for you today? wooohoooo:7
I feel your frustration in no runs for the week. There's really no other cardio that quite compares. I can't believe I've managed to obstain for almost 3 weeks!!! It has done me a world of good though.

Linda- I know that runners always dread and talk about running up hills but it's the downhill running that often injures people! We just let the momentum carry us and don't think about form and the impact can be pretty intense. I hope you're leg is doing better now.
How did your speedwalk go? I've heard that can be harder and more intense than running but have never tried it.

Karen- Another cheetah with an impressive racing schedule! You've really got alot of 5ks lined up!!! But they are fun and don't take long to recover from:7 Since I didn't run a fast marathon due to injuries I was able to recover pretty quickly afterwards. In fact I felt better a week after the race then the week before!

Cathy- Congrats on your weight loss!!!! Looking forward to the T shirt. Hope you can get in a good run after work.

Christine- I loved your bike polo post! I have a couple of friends who are into horses and bicyle riding and I'll have to share that one with them. You never fail to entertain us all!

Laura- Got in an awesome cardio workout there!!! WTG. You may be discouraged about your weight recently but I'm willing to bet my left foot that you are in better shape than 95% of women your age!

SunnyD- I'm glad you brought up the issue of DB weights. The platemate suggestion is a great one. I've been frustrated for a while in this regard. With shoulder presses I really want to go heavier than #15s but 20 is just too much. At times I've been tempted to buy the SelecTech DBs that adjust in 2 lb increments but they cost $$$. Have a fun time with the DM leg blast. I havent tried this one yet but I hear it can be harder to do than the regular DM workout.

Marcia- Have a great time at your cnference. I think you've made a great decision going for the p90x rotation and I'm sure you'll get some awesome results.

Kristi- Glad you got some snow to play in! Don't fret about the eating binge. We've all been there and the long term effect is really negligible if your overall fitness level is good... which I know it is! Have a great time with your long run tomorrow.

Barb- Doing LIC with weighted gloves sounds great! I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the race update... I get such a laugh out of your description of my killer HM!!!

Carole- Congratulations on your successful battle against the creeping lbs!!! You make a fellow babyboomer proud!!! I'll bet you're getting speedier by the day.... have a great interval run!

Okay, time to get serious now. I have GS legs on tap for today. I was going to follow with an elliptical workout but I can't bear the thought of using that old thing now. I think I'll do some rowing and cycling instead.

Hi Susan! We were posting the same time:) Have a great time on your awesome new elliptical today, When do you plan on trying a return to running?

ShellyC

Shelly,
that is great news about the new elliptical!!! I am definitley itching to start running. I promised my pt that I would wait for another 2 weeks and start very slow. I have waited this long, I can wait a tad bit longer. Most of the inflammation is gone in my L4,5 and S1, but there are still some knots and inflamed tissue in the L3. So, just a little more time and I am there. I am definitley going to always crosstrain from now on though. My pt said that the step workouts are harder on my back at this point than running. Anything with an incline tends to bother it. But, it really is all about balance, which I am lacking in most areas of my life(LOL)!

Anyway, have a great workout!!!

Susan

shelly- that is so sweet of you to say!! I really appreciate your kind words!!

carole- no fair, you have an inch and a half on me. I am only 5' 2 1/2!

It is definately getting cold here!BRRRRRRR!

chat later!

Shelly - For me, it is true that the racewalking is more intense and harder than running. I am a slow runner and when I racewalk, I walk almost as fast as I run (or jog...or whatever it is that I do:+ ). My heartrate stays right where I want it. I really alternating days with my running lately. I really feels good because of the vertical type impact of the running on my hip and leg. The walking seems to stretch my leg more forward and back. But it does feel harder in some ways than my running....I guess because I have not done walking as regularly. Yay! Glad you got your elliptical!

Susan - Enjoy your well-deserved rest day and massage! When I use my elliptical on the higher incline, I feel a little discomfort in my back. Does you notice that with yours?

Barb - Thanks so much for the link!

Wendy - I think you are doing right by doing it the way you are doing it....like you said....this "is" recovery week!

Gail - That will be fun to do a 10k on SuperBowl Sunday! Enjoy it!

Judy - I would be sure that the electrodes are fitting up against your body and that they are wet. Good luck!

Linda

Happy Happy Friday Cheetah Babes!

Did P90X Legs and Back and the abs from Leaner Legs today. DH (and D is definitely not “Dear” in this case) decided to clean something on the garage floor before I did the one legged wall squats and didn’t tell me (I was waking DD14). So when I shifted to my left leg I went down like a sack of potatoes! Hit my arm on the desk and everything. So I have a nicely bruised arm that is letting me know it’s not enjoying the typing I’m doing! Oh well. I’m feeling pretty much the same as yesterday but I took one Nyquil last night and slept like a log. So, I’m handling it better today. The workout helped, actually.

Cathy – I’d love to watch a game of bike polo – it was be interesting to see how well they avoided each other. There are some really skilled riders out there… Hope you enjoyed your rest day – I did.

Sunny – great workouts! Glad to see you can get ‘em in again!

Marcia – have fun at your convention today!! Sounds like a good time. Good job with the eating!

Wendy – enjoy Core Synergistics today :+ I think you’re smart to do the rotation pretty much as Tony lays it out. As it’s my second time around, I’m just following the weight work and doing whatever else floats my boat. I will be doing the recovery weeks pretty much as with more cardio, though. I do believe in those recovery weeks as I feel pretty built up in my chest area especially after the first round. Sorry you won’t be getting in a run!

Judy – we’re just going to go to a local watering hole and watch it there. They’re bringing in a huge tv and it’ll be fun. As none of our teams are playing we won’t go to the expense of a party.

Laura – good news!! I’m so happy to hear that your old company is not going to jerk you around any more. Good for you!!!

Karen – enjoy getting ready for the game!!

Kristi – I was bad yesterday, too, so I’m with you – we’ll simply move forward and forget yesterday happened! Enjoy your snow!!

Barb – oh please email me the recipe! That sounds like fun!! Something the girls and I can do when DH is on his business trips. Oh – thanks for posting the link! I’ll book mark it. I’ve been having fun experimenting with Quinoa. Kind of a weird flavor for breakfast – not bad – just different – but that’s a good thing. Sounds like you got in a great workout! Way to go!

Carole – then I’ll keep it on my calendar and I’ll email you when the registration opens. It looks like a fun one! How’s the hook up of the new tv coming along? You can watch it without HD – but it’s so much better IN HD. We love our HD TV! You’ve never been on a horse?! I was horse crazy when I was young, so I’ve ridden a lot. I still enjoy riding – took the girls in Hawaii – DH got a massage. All were happy.

Linda – great job on the speedwalk. I’ve been passed by speedwalkers while I was jogging – so I know there’s speed in that sport. Good for you!

Gayle – sounds like you have the perfect Superbowl plans! I’m with you – I’m thinking of platemate for between 15 and 20 and 20 and 25. Have fun on your run! I’ll be cheering you on!

Susan – good job at listening to your body! I’m feeling better today after my rest day yesterday, too. I think I needed it. But I woke up with a craving to eat well today, so I’m trying! ONE MORE WEEK!!! And we get to meet! I’m so excited!

Shelly – Oh how exciting! Between P90X and Ellipticals this week, we have a lot of new toys out there. What brand did you get? I don’t need bells and whistles but I like a smooth stride! Enjoy your workout! I’d love to go mountain biking with you one day, too… :p

Have a happy Friday all!

Good morning Cheetahs (afternoon for some). I started reading through today’s thread and realized that I am just way out of touch with what is going on with you all!

First, thanks so much to you Cheetahs who took the time to send me emails or getting in touch with me in other ways (Barb!!! LOL!) It meant a lot to me since I consider all of you as friends and I’m glad to be back here again.

Instead of spending a lot of time trying to figure it out I think I’ll just start fresh and see if I get an idea of what you all are up to these days.

I’ve been very busy lately, taking classes, cleaning up the house we rent out (at least the tenants from hell are gone) and training for a June marathon (yes, Carole, I signed up for it and it’s already served as lighting a fire under my a$$ to get me going).

Cathy, send me info on how to pay you via paypal and I’ll get that going.

So, today my workout was a 5 mile run and in a bit I will go do Butts and Guts leg blast and abs.

I’m going to spend the next 20 minutes or so trying to get a clear picture of what’s going on in the life of my Cheetah friends! If I don't make it back later I'll see you all tomorrow.

poppin' in to say due to all of the ahem..excited over p90x me and dh are started tomorrow!! can't wait another day...lol

marcia- i am doing the classic rotation with a couple of runs thrown in to keep me ready for my 5k next month.

kristi- awww, thanks. how is your training coming along?

judy- you scared me..i think i will just spend more time on the ellliptical this afternoon, lol

cathy- thanks for the link i will check it out. my 15lbs weights are probably the only ones i could use the placemates as the others are neopreme:-(

carole- thanks for the suggest. dh has those adjustable ones, but for some reason i don't like them. i know, i am a weirdo:p

barb- thanks for the suggestions re: the workouts. those sound like great premixes! excellent workout today.

susan- i will keep you posted if i try the platemates or find the in-between dumbbells:)

shelly- congrats on your elliptical purchase!! i just love having an elliptical in my home. yippeeeeeeeeeeeee:D

christi- sorry to hear about your arm, we'll have to pop your $%#^ h over his head, lol:D . sending healing vibes ((((( )))))

ttyl...

Hi Susan! The platemates are magnetic. They stick to the dumbbells really well due to the strong magnets. I love that they don't take up much room either.

Hi SunnyD! My training is going slow, but progressing. I'm still in the early stages, but tomorrow I will be kicking my long run up a little bit to 5 miles and sticking with that length for probably 2 more weeks. At least being turtle-like in speed will hopefully keep me injury free.

Hey Cheetahs! Welcome back Elaine! Missed you! :)

No time for personals really. Just wanted to say, Core Syn. is done for the SECOND time this week! YIKES! It's STILL tough but it went much smoother this time b/c I knew how to do the exercises. The first time I spent a lot of time watching the exercise and then rewinding to actually do it!

I finally got the Baron DVD! I have started previewing it but won't get to finish until later on. It seems like a good one for me. I can't wait to give it a shot next week!:)

Cathy: To answer your question (finally!)...I have no idea what KENPO actually means. LOL I am guessing it has something to do with kickboxing since that's the kind of work out it is. Sorry I am no help!:p

Alright...gotta hit the showers before DS wakes up and wants out! }(

If I don't get back here tonight, have a great one and I'll catch everyone tomorrow! I have a step class in the morning at the gym at 8:30 and then X Stretch at some point later on in the day.

Toodles!:+

Elaine,
SO nice to hear from you. That is great you are signed up for another marathon:)

My ellipital workout is done. I will do butts and gutts timesaver later, since I am going to Chevy's tonight. I have no will power when it comes to chips and salsa}(

I am off to go get Mariah. I will BBL!

Susan

Wow.... I actually have time today for a second cheetahfix!!! How cool is that????:7 :7 :7 :7

Elaine- How wonderful to hear from you. Welcome back :D :D :D
Already have your sights set on another marathon? You are as amazing as ever! I'm planning on my second one but I'm not nearly as talented and ambitious as you. I'm eyeing the Las Vegas marathon on Dec 2. It should be fun!

Susan- It sounds like you've really got a good handle on your back problem. Crosstraining with your wonderful new elliptical should definitely help keep it in line in the future. 2 more weeks:7 :7

Linda- I'm doing a local HM in May and they also feature a judged 10k racewalk. There aren't too many of those and it takes a special kind of talent. I bet you'd do well!

Christine- That's a scare you had with your fall! It could have been quite serious and I'm glad it apparently wasn't. Are you and Carole going to do a mountain bike race together? What fun!!

SunnyD- I'll be curious to hear your reaction to p90x, especially from you viewpoint as a PT.

GS legs felt great today! I was going to do some cycling but instead decided to dust off MIC and give it a whirl. It's quite a classic, still good for a sweat dreanching workout.
Later y'all

ShellyC

elaine- so very happy to have you back!!

shelly- well to be honest with you i think (besides wendy of course, lol) it's what has got me so anxious to start and finish. from everything i've read and have been learning i can see tony has really done his homework and put together what seems to be an awesome program with some very unique (at least to me) yet very effective exercises. i'll keep you posted on my progress:)

susan- i sooooooo wish we had a chevy's close by:9 enjoy your dinner.

kristi- i have every confidence you are going to kick butt!! i will definitely keep you in my prayers that you remain injury free:)
