Cathy, I've had this happen to me. It was last December. I found the lump in November and went to my GYN. She sent me for a diagnostic mammogram, then I had to have a cone down mammogram done at the same setting, then the radiologist came in and said he wanted an ultrasound. I was frantic!!!! He ultimately said it looked like a lymph node to him but he would send the report to my doctor for final disposition. She told me she wanted to be sure (my mother is a breast cancer survivor), so she sent me to a surgeon. He felt it was a lymph node also and noting of significance but wanted a six month follow up. I went back in June for another mammogram of my right breast followed by another ultrasound and back to the surgeon. I declared it just a lymph node since there was no change. I have monitored it myself each month on breast self-exams and it hasn't changed. I go back for my GYN yearly in November and she'll examine it again.
Scary stuff when you are going through it I know but mine turned out okay, I bet yours will too.
