Cathe (or educated crowd) need one more inch off hips

This is true. It's best to go buy standard size charts and actual measurements to know your true size. Most women can fit in three sets of sizes depending on the company, per a report I heard - smart marketing huh!

I'm 52 and I wear a size 4 but I'm small framed also. I would suggest lots of kickboxing coupled with floor work or Lotte Berk/Callenitics/The Bar Method.
As far as vanirty sizing goes I have 2 pairs of pants from 1975 I've hung onto all these years for nostalgic reasons. I fit into them beautifully back then and I still do. They're a size 7.

I also have some old jeans that I've hung onto since probably the 80s. They are Levi's 501 Buttonfly in a 3 Junior. I cannot wear them because I've gained weight since then, but I also cannot wear a 3 Junior that are sold now. I can wear a Junior 7. When I look at my Levi's and the size 3s in the store, I honestly do not see a difference. My 3s are tiny as are the 3s in the stores now a days.

Now, if you've ever shopped at Chico's, huge difference in sizing. It is womens sizes and I cannot wear anything in their store. Their smallest size is either 0 or 1, and even that is too big for me.

Hi There,

Here are my .02 cents. I was working out extra hard, without results, if I do weight for the lower body,I bulk up. I bought Plyo Legs Master Series with Tony Horton, it has made me slim, I am 44 yrs. Old and my size 4 jeans are falling off of me. I am now wearing size two from victoria Secret. I do Plyo legs, because is cardio and legs at the same time and Kickboxing has helped also, I do Tae Bo Rounds, 30 one minute intervals, and I compliment this with upper body weight training and core work.

You guys are really making me want to buy the Tony Horton's Master Series workouts, and I was trying to stay away from anything new. ;)

Hey!
I am pretti much in the same boat as you. I currently wear a size 6-8 and I just want to be a straight 6. I do lower body every other day with heivy wieghts. My hips used to be 45"!!! Now they are down to 38 and I just want them to be 37" (ok maybe 36). I just ordered this weighted hula hoop at sports-hoop.com It is supposed to trim about 2 inches off of your waist and hips a month if you do it about 8-10 min a day. IT is easy for it to stay up because it is weighted. Haven't got it yet-I'll tell you how it goes when I do.
It is weird but I can occasionally wear a 4 too. That is not my goal sz though. A 6 is just fine for me!
Let me know if you've found anything

I guess you are overloaded with feedback..LOL. Personally, if I was looking to lean out my hips my first picks would be probably be (not using heavy weights) Legs and Glutes, Pyramid Lower Body, Kickmax and Kick, Punch and Crunch:)

just to add something that has worked for me since i personally can be very lean and STILL have the hip problem :( anyways, i find lunges with my back foot elevated on the step REALLY get into the hip area. The other exercise that targets this area to tighten it are bridge work/pelvic lifts.

This past month I have been doing mostly Kickboxing. Cathe's stuff, Kickmax, KP&C, and Cardio Kicks. Also bought some Janis Saffel stuff which I love...Strike Zone, 10 minute solution (I run through the whole thing for a 30 minute workout), Kick It and Kickbox underground with Guillermo Gomez (I believe he's her husband). I do GS Legs with heavy weights once a week and Power Hour once a week. The only step I have been doing is Low Max and I throw in IMAX 1 once in awhile.

Since changing from mostly step to mostly kickboxing, I have lost at least a half inch off my hips. I put on some jeans yesterday that were tight a few weeks ago and they were very comfortable. Also, today I have on some dress slacks that were tight when I bought them and they are loose.

I am thrilled with this because it's been several years since I have seen a major change like this in the way my clothes fit. Even more so than when I had liposuction a couple of years ago. I really haven't changed my diet much accept cut out low fat frozen yogurt on the weekends.

Just thought I'd share.

I am really into kickboxing right now too. I was wondering if you could do too much of it? Ii work out 6x weekly and for abut 2 hours at a time. I try to put in one low intensity day in there every week but I am really more geared for the high intensity stuff. Are the Janis Saffel and Gomez tapes as tough as CAthe's ? I'd like to try some new stuff. I preordered her new ones so maybe I should just wait on them.

Hi Joyjoy,

I just saw this.

No, the Janis Saffel and Guillermo Gomez videos are not as tough as Cathe's so I added 2 lb hand weights that really up the intensity for me. Now I feel they are a challenge.

Their videos contain crescent kicks that I haven't seen in Cathe's kickboxing. They really seem to work my hips extra hard.

If you were thinking of ordering one just to see how you like it, I would recommend the Strike Zone DVD with Janis.
