Awwww, you guys are so great!
I am doing great! Still hanging out on the sofa with my bestest buddy Tuxedo by my side, gallons of tea, fresh vegetable juice and armed with DH's laptop.
It is a lot less painful than I thought it would be and I am moving around quite a bit, doing regular stretches to keep my range of motion. The only thing that is kind of bothersome are the drains, they are always in my way and I kinda feel like Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean - tentacly.
DH took me out for a short walk on Sunday and I went to the grocery store with DH afterwards. Who would have thought that going to the grocery store would ever be a noteworthy event After the yuck food at the hospital we have been getting spoiled with French cuisine. One of my closest friends, Virginie, is from France and her and the French community here have been cooking up a storm with yummy and healthy food. It's like the delivery from a 5-star restaurant every day
I have been quite busy since my surgery doing a lot of research on cancer treatment and planning projects that are near and dear to my heart. As I am going through this, I realize I am a really lucky ducky. I have a phenomenal support system, a great doctor who has also taken on my insurance company, the possibility to access resources, etc. Not everyone is so blessed!
And I am determined to do my part that everyone who is faced with illness will be able to get the help they need. From adequate health care (the headache of fighting insurance companies while you are going through treatment or treatment being denied HAS to stop) for everyone to better prevention through education about nutrition, healthy life style to more information about treatment alternatives to forcing manufacturers to full disclosures to simple things as day-to-day help for families or individuals facing illness. It's quite an ambitious project but I am excited about it.
Thursday is my doctor's appointment, I am hoping to return home without tentacles and hopefully my doctor's okay to walk at least Pepper and Tuxedo (since they never pull and NOTHING fazes them). Tuxedo and I already ordered one of those belts that lets me attach the dog leashes, so I can go handsfree for now, in anticipation of the doc's green light.
So that's the update from my end. What are you guys up to?

I can't believe you are spending so much time thinking about how to help others with all you're going through. That is totally AWESOME!!!! The world is a much better place because of you.

Dogs are wonderful. People who feed you French cuisine are fabulous. Insurance companies suck. You are AWESOME!

I'm so happy to hear of your progress. I know I've said it before too, but you are an amazing woman and such an inspiration. I'm glad you have your DH taking care of you, your friends spoiling you with French cuisine and your dogs to give you the unconditional love that you deserve. Keep us posted!

Carola, I thought of you yesterday while I was at the doc's office. He's setting me up for another mammogram, and as we discussed my microcalcifications, I started getting a little nervous (I had a rather unpleasant biopsy last time). Then I scolded myself, "Don't be such a wimp! Carola wouldn't whine like this!"
