Can we burn DVDs?

I thought that was what they did - provided downloads for those of use who prefer digital media while the rest can use the dvds that are already available. Isn't that a choice?

It would be better however to give cusomers the choice on the type of technology they want to play the workout on. Not everyone is going to want to use an IPOD type player or an MP4 player. Being more technology diversified is better than sticking to one type of technology. Just a thought.....

You could try, but you need to have newer everything for it to work. Like, Blu-Ray players can support h.264, but you'd need a TV that can handle the playback. I have an older DVD player that can handle h.264, but I had to upgrade my TV to see the picture.

I'd like to add here that DVD-R or DVD+R recordable DVDs have a certain life span; in other words they degrade after a while. They scratch easier. This doesn't happen with regular manufactured/prerecorded DVDs.

Technically, they have the same life span: 200 years. However, if not properly cared for (keeping it stored upright in a case and away from direct sunlight, no extreme temp changes, etc.) they can all degrade.

Thanks SNM for the quick response - it saved me $$$$. I was just about to place a hefty order! I'm disappointed that dvds won't be an option, as that eliminates downloading workouts for me. I understand that the downloads are meant to replace dvds, but for those of us still in the "dark ages" with our equipment, it's disappointing.

DVD is still an incredibly popular format.

It is not obsolete by any means.

At this point, the downloads don't work for me either.

I am sure some day I will move to downloads after it is out of its infancy.

I'll be working out a long time, so 200 years will definitely fit my needs!:D

I have all my downloads on an external hard drive (portable). I bought a box that you plug to the TV through an HDMI cable (it comes with a remote) which links the hard drive to the TV. It was about a $230 canadian, but I have 500 Gb so I can put a lot more than the workouts (movies, music, pictures, data), so it was well worth the investment for me. (I actually had them before I started downloading workouts and it's a great setup for me).

SandraGau, can you tell me the name of the box you bought, I'll need to get something like that in order to hook it up to my TV. Right now what i have to do is connect my laptop tp my TV so I can view the download there. I also have an external hardrive, so whatever you bought sound like it would help me.

Thanks :)

A couple of options if you are a gamer or have gamers in your house, (both in my case!)
If you have an XBox 360...Download the Zune software to your computer, you don't have to own a Zune, btw. You can then download the video to the Zune software, enable sharing to your XBox 360 and play the videos on your tv via the XBox 360
If you have a PS3, burn the video onto a DVD and it will play on the PS3, somehow the PS3 converts it I guess, not really sure.
I absolutely love, love, love the digital downloads, PLEASE never do away with this feature!!:D

Zbridget, I just sent you a PM about this.

Best,

I did it last night, and it was very easy to do. I downloaded a workout, opened iDVD on my Mac, imported it & it created a project, the chapters were already created & labeled, then burned it on a DVD. I played it this morning. The quality is different, this isn't a deal breaker for me as I usually am not paying close attention to it.

I was considering spending the $$ and getting the cables, but this is a less expensive alternative and works well.

I like being able to get my workouts this way, paying only for what I want, and in the long run, eventually a greener solution. I foresee a neater, cleaner area around my TV instead of cases of DVD's videos & games cluttering up the area, discs with missing cases & vice versa...
