calories burned during "Insanity" workouts..

So I like to tract my workouts and exercise calories burned in "Workout Manager". I am going to try "Insanity" for the next 2 months. What would you think would be the "mets" number for these workouts? For instance HIIT Pyramid is 10 mets where as power yoga is 2 or 3 mets. What does everyone think??

Most of the month two Insanity workouts would definitely be 10 Mets. When I did Max Interval Plyo my monitor recorded that I burned 1020 calories.

What type of monitor are you using that recorded a 1000 calorie burn? Just curious...even at my best, I've never come close to seeing that kind of number on my Polar heartrate monitor. I wish I had :)

If you are fit, there is no way you are burning that. I would suggest getting a heart rate monitor. I used to think I burned WAY more than I actually did. Really worth the money.

My typical calorie burn on Max Interval Plyo toward the end of the program (when I knew all the exercises, could do them, and didn't need to take any extra breaks) was about 400 calories. I have one of the high end Polar heart rate monitors. My heart rate would dip quite a bit during the stretch segments after the warm up and at the end of the workout, and also during the 30-second breaks between intervals (at least in the first half of the workout before fatigue started to set in). I can't remember exactly how long Max Interval Plyo is but I think it is somewhere between 50-53 minutes? Anyway, only about 35-40 of that is high intensity work. (I know, it sure doesn't feel like "only" anything!!!)

So do you think the workouts would be considered 9 mets? I'm just trying to figure out how to track them in "workout manager". Thanks guys!

Just my opinion but I would say 9 Mets but only 35 minutes out of the workout -- the remaining time would be something like 2-3 Mets (stretching and breaks).

The month one workouts I burned anywhere from 350 to 400ish calories. Month two 400 to 600 calorie range.

Recovery drinks?

I started Insanity and love it. Does anyone use the recovery drink? Or anything else for that matter? Anything that encourages toning and performance would be great - as long as it actually works.

Polar Heart Rate monitors are incredibly sensitive to the settings you input. Your activity level is really important. Unless you are an actual athlete in training for the Olympics, be very conservative with this setting or you will end up with very very high calorie counts.

hey I'm bumping this. Just wanna get a few more opinions on the "mets". I tried Pure Cardio this morning and it was WAY harder they HiiT Pyramid which workout manager gives 10 mets. So I'm a little confused how to put the INSANITY workouts in workout manager. Thanks!!
