butts and gutts vs. gym stlye legs

Which is your favorite? I love butts and gutts but I find that gym style legs is pretty hard too and everyone looks amazing in this workout, no hair out of place and no red sweaty faces (how the heck do they do that?). I hate those damn pizza presses in butts and gutts and always find myself fast forwarding through them.

I really like both.
But have to say I prefer Butts & Gutts. The workout moves a little smoother and I like the music more. It is also longer so I use chunks of it more ofter.
That said - I love the floor work in GSL, I feel like it hits the tibialus and hamstrings to balance out my running.
I am very happy with both.

I can't pick. I just can't. They're both so phenomenal. I did B&G on Friday and I'm doing GS Legs when I get home from work tonight! I love these two lower body workouts. They're Cathe's best, IMO.

GS Legs uses heavier weights and fewer reps while B&G uses very light weights and tons of reps. I think both are crucial to achieving a nice butt. ;) B&G gets really deep into the glute muscles for me and GS Legs does more for my legs.

Oh those are killer! But I actually love them--they get my butt sooo good! And they get right in my favorite area to work--the "thutt" area (right where the back of the thigh and the butt meet). Those pizza presses are gold!!!

Can someone tell me why she calls them pizza presses? I've never understood that.

I prefer Butts & Guts mainly because I really like the Leg Blast premix. I have to say though that my favorite leg workout is Legs & Glutes. Cathe just seems to be having so much fun in that one.

My take on it is you're trying to press a pizza on the ceiling. LOL I have *no* idea why you would want to do that, but it does help you keep your foot flat and the bottom of your foot facing the ceiling. ;)

Sounds like a good enough reason to me. :D

Peaceful Rainbow, I was wondering what exercises Cathe includes in the Leg Blast Premix. Is it a mix of standing and floor work? I just did the Standing Only w/abs premix today and while of course it worked my legs hard, I kind of felt jipped because it was so short. Also, anyone ever do Overall Legs? Is that all leg work but no abs? Thanks! I need to explore my premixes more, LOL.

I don't have GS Legs but LOVE B&G! (love/hate) ;)

I have a list that I keep in the DVD box for that premix:

Warm-up on your own
walking lunges
lunge squat combo
walking lunges
leg press
forward thrusting hammer punch
leg press
one legged squats
side to side thrusting hammer punch
one legged squats
fireswalkers
walking lunges
firewalkers
walking lunges
lunge squat combo
low pulse lunges
lunge squat combo
stretch

It's all standing, no floor work and nothing with heavy weights, but trust me you will feel it!

I prefer Butts and GUts. It really hits those glutes! I also like the Leg Blast premix. I enjoy the AB work in Butts and Guts and the bonus stability ball abs section.

I did the "Leg Blast" premix of Butts & Guts this morning - it was T-O-U-G-H!! I must admit, I couldn't even finish it!! I like to think it's because I did IMAX yesterday and my legs were a bit sore already, but I must face the truth - this premix is a KILLER!! My hats off to all of you who lov this premix! I don't think I'll be trying it again anytime soon, LOL. After my 2nd lunge/squat combo I just about hit the floor. I should have looked at the above list a little more closely before attempting this one! ;)

Both are great!

As others have said, both B&G and Gym Style Legs are amazing.

I have to say, for me, B&G really gets into the glutes. Once when i hadn't done it in awhile, I completed it and had major doms the next day--I could barely sit! Also, for me, Gym Style Legs really gets into the hamstrings. The backs of my legs are always sore when I do Gym Style Legs.

Have a great day,
Dawn

Woohoo! I just got Butts and Guts - after reading the posts, I can't wait to try it tomorrow morning. I get so giddy when I get new Cathe DVDs in the mail, it's like a little gift waiting to be opened ;-)

Also sprung for the weighted gloves, can't wait to try those too :)

I just did both butts and gutts and gym style legs yesterday and I have to vote for gym style legs. I just love the variety with the band and I also feel like you get all parts of your legs working including the inner and outer thigh. Butts and Gutts is just not as hard to me. I still dread the pizza presses and I hate those low pulse lunges. In gym style it just seems like all the girls are so picture perfect too with their hair so nicely done. How do they NOT sweat during this workout??? I also always feel the DOMS in my calves from the raises.
