Bouncing babies and their mommas 3/28-4/3

Christine-no worries! That was my MIL, and germs do not just was off, as she said! We don't agree on much of anything--she also thought Caden should have been allowed to eat the cake at his baptism when he was 6mo old...and I'm sure I'll hear about it when I don't allow him candy this weekend. Anyway, I totally understand the germ thing...I've refused to let him play in the mall playground for that reason. I decided to step out of my box...and let him into a big petri dish of toddler germs.

oh man, that was pickle juice mil? I do not feel bad now. Phew. I am getting my period and there is a full moon and my baby is more howler monkey than baby, so I guess i am ovelry sensitive!

Thanks, Melanie, for the package of sunshine that arrived on my stoop on this rainy, gray day :)

I decided to try the Insanity Fit Test today. LOL -- I am not fit!! My push-ups-on-the-knees don't work with the Push Up Jacks, so I modified -- held a plank position for the whole minute while doing my legs in the jack motion. For some of you, this may seem like nothing. But it worked for me. Whew -- if that is only 30 minutes, I'm scared to see what's ahead LOL

I fell behind on STS last week, so I also did STS M1, W3 Back and Tri's. I'm going to try to W3 Legs tomorrow, so I can begin my 2 weeks of the Week 4 workouts. That will finish my 8 weeks of Meso 1. Meso 2 and Meso 3 will definitely be only 4 weeks each. I can't imagine doing them for 4 more months!

Lisa, glad you had a fun day with the kiddos :) Ella has been to 2 bounce places this year; she thinks they are so much fun. What exactly does MIL think pickle juice will do?! Cake for a 6 month old. Yes, that's a marvelous idea!!

Susan, I haven't looked at the Chalean DVDs yet. I won't be starting them until June, so that's of no help to you. Hope you enjoy the lemon chicken. It smells heavenly while it roasts, doesn't it? That recipe is so popular that it has its own thread on the Cooking Light boards :)

Christine -- I HATE the days when Drew doesn't want to nap, no matter what I do. I get so dang cranky with EVERYONE, full moon or not. Drew has taken 2 naps today, for a grand total of 90 minutes. BAH! Are you making sugar cookies? Just for fun, or for an occasion? If I did a 4 mile run, I'd be quite pleased with myself. And I think it's awesome that you and DH are training together to run a marathon. :)

Priscilla, sorry work has been so stressful as of late. Your weight will come off. Are you still breastfeeding? I know several people who shed the last pounds once they stopped. In the meantime, give yourself a pat on the back for working out -- you have a 4 month old and a full time job. I'd be tempted to skip the workout most nights, just to get some down time.

Jen, hope you're feeling better today. I hear you on the sinus thing. I've literally been walking around with a tissue wedged in my left nostril. It's so stuffed up that nothing happens if I blow, but the mucus keeps trickling out and dripping off my lip. Soooo attractive. Poor DH -- I look frightening, I'm sure LOL

I've got Sesame Pork Tenderloin in the crockpot right now (one of my favorite recipes). Smells so good! Will have with the Asian cucumber salad I posted last week, broccoli with garlic, and brown rice. Yum.

I've had potato chips the last 2 days. Yikes. Clearly, they will NOT help me fit back into my summer clothes comfortably. Saw the weather report for Easter -- high of 80 (Woo Hoo!). No more chips for me -- the reality has hit -- summer is just around the corner and I've got no time left for farting around!

allison- must post the pork recpie. I ADORE everythign you have posted so far! Thanks fo rthe encouragement on the day. We are making easter sugar cookies with frostine and sprinkles and will bring them into my hubby's office. John went downa while ago, woke up after 10 minutes (this is the story of the day), and I just could not go in. I was sitting here, crying about it, and Jimmy begs me not to spend the whole day rocking him to sleep and to please pay attention to him. When I was rocking John earlier, jimmy mopped the floors, yes, mopped the floors. When I came down, he said, mom look the floors are clean, we can play now! and then john woke up. SO anyhow, he woke up this last time, and I just coudl not go in. i called my DH after about 20 minutes and while I was crying on the phone, john went to sleep. I am not fan of crign it out, but it just kind of happened. ANyhow, I hope he gets the rest he needs so that we can adore him at some point today!
All of you starting insanity- It is more hard core than anything that Cathe has done, I think. It took me forever to get past the first set and into month two. You will leave puddle on the floor from sweat (and if you have not been kegaling, some pee!). I am excited to hear what you all think. One thing I like is that it is short and I feel less guilty about parking Jimmy in front of a show for 30 minutes, than for an hour! Keep in mind, he has some tricky push ups, I modify the side push ups, and a few others as well.
Priscilla- I am so sorry to hear about your work. I know you are juggling so much and you are doing terrific. And do not worry about the scale. How do your clothes feel? I noticed the scale not moving much if at all when I began chalean, but my clothes got huge. When I changed up the cardio, it moved and it moved quickly. I am thinking of you today!
Melanie- Cute pics on FB! Are you at work today? I need to keep a calendar so I do nto forget!
Lisa- I still giggle about the cake and pickle juice. Dare you to tell her that her son kegel-iscios!
Susan- It is going to rain here for a few days, so I am goign to make the brocolli soup. Mmmm.
Jen- Has your head exploded yet?
Okay, off to do legos.
Oh, and I derailed and had a two bites of cookie dough and a lot of goldfish crackers. Bah!
Dinner is ground turkey lettuce wraps and edamame and Ginger. I think I posted it a while ago. It is the one like at PF Changs wut in tortillas instead of lettuce...
Okay, going to try to sidestep around the cookies and have a banana.
My DH is getting excited about the marathon. I am so glad that we are doing this together. I think getting two rounds of quiet time yesterday has made him delusional. Goodness. On the days he has to start doing the long runs, like 17 or 20 at a time, I will have to get really "quiet" so he does not feel miserable!

Hi ladies

Melanie, THANK YOU. I got my packeage today and felt like a little girl opening it. You rock!!

As you know I worked today and it feels like it's friday already. I'm drained. It was a long drive both ways and I'm just so use to drive my usual 2 miles to work. I made it back missing my little boy terribly (i'm used to see him during my lunch), then worked out. Chalean Push circuit #1 and some cardio. I had to stop short, I couldn't even lift my hands or feet.

Allison, I'm breasfeedng full time, not sure for how long. Today, I left about 5 0z and my baby needed more so he tried to give him some formula we got from the pedi and he did not like it at all, he waited for me. I fear that he may never like formula, is that possible??
Good job on trying Insanity. I need to incorporate it somehow in my rotation. I want it to try but I was too tired

Christine, you are so sweet, thanks for thinking of me and encourage me all the time. I don't feel confortable wearing my pants to work so I'm still wearing my maternity pants even though my coworkers say that they are falling off me (true) but the other pants are just too tight at the thighs and butt to be worn in a professional office and I REFUSE to buy anything bigger. When is the marathon? I wish I can run, I love it but my knees hate it. I secretely envy you ;)

Jen, are you feeling better?

Susan, come on join me on Chalean extreme. Its a different mind set for I like it a lot

Lisa, I haven't heard of that show. Im gonna look it up to record it. I love those kind of shows as well. Do you watch Biggest loser?

off to have a late dinner

Priscilla-I so hope things settle down for you at work. Sorry you had such a draining day :(

Allison-the name of your pork dish makes me drool. MMMM...

Christine-relaxing 2x in one day?? I haven't done that since college! Hmm..that made me sound kind of slutty. It wasn't with 2 dfferent people...just to clarify ;)

My workout was a bust today but I cut some calories to account for it. Caden woke from his nap a hysterical bear!! He is really having a hard time cutting this molar. There was no way DH was taking both of the kids with Caden like that, so I took Caden for a 2.5 mi walk (instead of p90) since he loves being outside. We went to thepark on the way home, and it was so much fun watching how different he acts there now compared to how he was in the fall. He's getting so big!

time for an early bed...dh is on baby duty for a little while

Hi Ladies
Alllsion-the chicken was great! Both Haley and dh loved it too! I used the baby yukon gold potatoes with it. I am righ there with you about naps. K has been taking 2, 40 min naps......then one 20-30 nap...thats been the norm for weeks now. Its lke clcokwork.
She is happy so I cant really complain..I just don't get much done.
Christine-sorry for your rough day. Jimmy is such a sweetie! You will love the soup!
Pricilla-I think I will start Chalene on Monday..I previewed more today and am really excited! I loved STS and will do it again..but something new may spark something good in me!
K is in bed..Haley headed that way..been a long day!

Susan, would you mind sharing your broccoli soup recipe again? I have a pound in the fridge that I need to use! Glad you guys liked the chicken. I think it smells sooooo good. Lemon and garlic -- how can you go wrong?!

Christine, awwww, Jimmy mopping the floor would have broken and melted my heart at the same time. Sweet boy. I hope John sleeps well tonight. You could use the break. Will def. post the pork recipe.

Priscilla, sorry today was such a difficult day :( I hope tomorrow is a bit easier. As for Daniel ever liking formula, I don't know. I wasn't successful breastfeeding Ella so she had no choice. I pumped for a month with Drew, but he always had formula too. I'm not the right person to answer your question LOL

Lisa, glad you and Caden were able to enjoy a nice long walk. Ella and I used to do 9 mile walks 4 times a week. She was a real trooper. Don't know if she'd be so complacent now, sitting in the stroller for 2+ hours anymore!

The dog we were watching for 11 nights left last night. Finally finished vacuuming, Swiffering, and mopping. Now life can go back to normal -- yay!

GARLIC SESAME PORK TENDERLOIN

1 tsp honey
4 TBSP soy sauce
2 TBSP sesame oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 TBSP brown sugar
1 TBSP dry sherry
3-4 scallions, chopped
3 pound pork tenderloin (I use 2, 1 lb pork tenderloins)

Whisk together all ingredients but pork. Put in ziploc bag with pork tenderloin and marinate 3+ hours (I try to do it overnight).

Grill or bake in a 500-degree oven for 20-25 minutes.**

**NOTE: I've only ever cooked it in the crockpot. I put it in for 2 hours on high and low for another 2 hours, or low for 5 or 6 hours. Flip the tenderloins over halfway through cooking time. The meat is so tender, it just falls apart :)

--------------------------------------

Susan, if you liked the chicken tonight, you might like this one too. I've also just baked the chicken, and I've cut made kebabs with the chicken and peppers, adding more peppers and zucchini.

Here's another chicken recipe I got from the Cooking Light discussion boards. This lives up to its name :) This rocks!!!!

UNBELIEVABLE CHICKEN
by Lee Bailey (not sure what book?)

Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cook Time: 20 Minutes
Ready In: 9 Hours
Yields: 6 servings

INGREDIENTS:
1/4 cup cider vinegar
3 tablespoons prepared coarse-ground mustard
3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
1 lime, juiced
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
ground black pepper to taste
6 tablespoons olive oil (I used less oil, just eyeballed it -- I think it was 3 or 4 TBSP)
6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

DIRECTIONS:
1. In a large glass bowl, mix the cider vinegar, mustard, garlic, lime juice, lemon juice, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Whisk in the olive oil. Place chicken in the mixture. Cover, and marinate 8 hours, or overnight.
2. Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat.
3. Lightly oil the grill grate. Place chicken on the prepared grill, and cook 6 to 8 minutes per side, until juices run clear. Discard marinade.

It looks like my friends receive their packages today? That's great!

Christine, I'll mail yours tomorrow. I work on a every-other-day type schedule. So I have tomorrow off. :D :D

For all ya'll wondering, I put a Minnesota tank shirt in there to remind ya'll of you Minnesota workout buddy. Everyone got one besides Lisa (who is crazy enought to live in MN with me). They run a little small, but I wear mine with a long tankie underneath. They were a bargin at work, so thought it'd be a nice suprise.

Allison- that is gongto be dinner! I love hit. Thank you.
Priscilla- what brand did you try? Bfeeding never workedfor me andwe had to have John on formula. He got similac at the hospital and I assumed he favored it. Not so much. I tried different brans and he cared for good start the most. I have Aton of similac if you or anyone want it. I hate to toss it. Let me know. No problem at all.
John wentdown easy at seven, am feeding him now. Hope to go to sleep again till four or so.
So, I did preprder revans and ordered hip hop abs as well. I know, bad girl! Dh went and ordered himself a new dresswatch and when I saw the price I kind of went ninja with turrets on him and did some athletic ordering. He gav e me heat about a few videos- and I just kind of looked at him like he was nuts. He ordered a watch that cost the value of my car before todller barfing in the backseat (for those of you with first babies, wooo were, wait till the pukies hit and you are sixty miles from home).
Tomorrow is hopefully better than today. Jimmy melted my heart and I know I did a good job when I see that. John is such a moody guy. Jimmy was too, but at least when Jimmy cried I did not hav e to comb his body loping for a possiblemusxle or joint bleed.
So, no more grouchy me! Let's make to tomorrow great! I will have a great day and hope you all do too!

Well its a little before 4 and K and I have been up since 3. She woke up talking ready to play. I nursed her as usual but she had no intentions of going back to sleep. I think she is trying to poop..its going on 3 days so she is backed up...shes tooting up a storm but no action yet.
Melanie-I think Im the only one who didnt get OI today..I love suprises!
Christine-today will be great for you!
bb

Christine-I loved the visual of the ninja. :). I'm sure your ordering was nothing compared to
the cost of his watch.

Susan-3am? ugh. I hope she either went back to sleep for you or gives you some good naps.

Melanie-What a cute idea with the shirt!

Well, I went nuts on some ice cream right before bed last night. Stupid. Ya, that REALLY helped my cause. Naturally, the scale is back up that 1 lb I FINALLY lost. I was feeling like crap having tighter jeans, shirts, etc, and took it out on the ice cream that I supposedly bought for DH. Enough said.

Time to choose my attitude and put on my happy face!

Morning ladies! I am trying to return to the land of the living. My dad brought me some prescription nose spray to loosen up my sinus which seems to have helped. If James cried last night I didnt hear it cause I took Sudafed and then needed cough syrup. I'm pretty sure he didn't though..... I got some good drug induced sleep. I'm at work today so we will see how it goes....

Melanie- You are such a sweetie! (I know, I already said it but I like people to hear positive things!)

Allison- Ok so can you come cook for me too? You are really rockin out this awesome recipes! My DH is going to love you when I tell him that you give us all these great recipes! I think he gets bored with my cooking, just like I do. :p

Christine- Jimmy has such a great soul and you have to take credit for it. You have done such a great job with him. He will have so much compassion for people as he grows. Sorry you had a crummy day. Today will be great! I swear I don't know where you get all this energy! Twice a day??? I can barely muster twice a week right now!! I guess if I looked and felt as hot as you look then I could probably do it. ;)

Lisa Marie- Ice cream?? Shame on you! Just kiddin.... :p That actually sounds really good right now. Oh and thanks for the laugh about twice a day in college with the same person...I knew what you meant but it was cute that you clarified. :D

Susan- Sorry Kara got you up early. Hopefully you can get a nap later after your workout. James's naps have gotten shorter too. Oh and I guess he had a reaction to the sweet potatoes. Poor lil guy threw up twice yesterday (projectile, in case you were wondering) and has a diaper rash and had diarrhea. He acted normal after and no fever so we won't be doing sweet potatoes anytime soon.

Question for all you second time moms, can James ever have sweet potatoes or should I just wait til he's older to try again? I don't understand this allergic reaction stuff.

Susan-you snuck in! Glad you got SOME sleep. Reese had a difficult night, too. She was awake at least 2hrs (not sure how long it took when DH took her). That recipe looks great and one within my skill level ;).

Has anyone listened to CharLEANs motivational CD? I listened to it yesterday in the car on the way home from work. I liked it, had some good ideas in there.

Christine~ no shame on you for ordering fitness stuff. I can almost ALWAYS justify ordering fitness stuff, it NEVER goes to waste. Lots of people order fitness stuff & never use it...you WILL use it. I have been looking at the cookbook you sent me. It will be much easier to do when I'm making the girls their baby food (b/c I can use the girl's healthy pureed food to hide in other dishes). I bought a couple jars of baby food for now to hide food. I know it's not "as healthy"....but do you think that would work? I'm sorry you had a down day yesterday...you are absolutely right, today is a new day!

Susan~ I'm suprised you didn't get your package yesterday. Hopefully today. Are you planning on doing it right away?

Jen~ you better be taking care of yourself! Your a mom now....that means you have to take EXTRA good care of yourself so you can take care of your weeone. No superwoman syndrome!

Allison~ you a the recipe QUEEN! I am amazed at your passion to cook. I like to eat healthy, but I really don't like to cook at all. I'd rather be cooked for.

Precilla~ are you supplementing? Let me know what brand you decide to go with, I occasionally get coupons. I send Lisa my GoodStart coupons, but I also get Enfamil (and can sign up to get other brands so I can send to you).

Krillie~ you still with us? Are you nursing your weeone? How is your healing going?

Waves to all you incredible mommies! I'm off to straighten up my house a bit. My cleaning lady is coming (clean bathrooms & kitchen floor). She is so cheap. $15/session, this is the first time she's been here since the girls have been born.

Oh, today is 6 mile tempo run. I'm excited b/c it's going to be 60 degrees today!

susan- you have one heck of a great attitude at 4am! wow, i tend to growl a bit at that time! john wakes up at 4 in the morning and i drag him in bed with me for an hour! he slept really well last night, which is the indicator of a decent day. he really has bad days when night sleep gets wrecked, he just gets too overtired to sleep and is overstimulated, so he wakes up a lot. ANyhow, I am hoping for the best. I figure that since it is raining out, I will have to put the cover on the stroller, so if he screams, I will not hear it!
Allison- The collge comment was hilarious! I agree, we have not been like that in 10 years! I do not know what came over us! That sneaky full mooon! Do not wory about the ice cream. If I was enduring a week with two babies under two, no help and in laws coming, i would do much worse! You will be fine! Like susan always says, it is always worth it as long as you enjoyed it! At least put chocolate chips on top! Did you ever figure out the ham recipes? I have never made a ham.
Jen- Glad you got some sleep. That prescription nasal spray sure helps. I hope you are on the mend. Can you get a massage? Do they have Massage Envy where you live? You can get a massage for an hour for like 40 bucks and they have pacakges where you get one a month at a cost of about 30... Anyhow, that can help release the lymph nodes and get the body flowing again.... Feel better. Oh, nad the same thing happened with jimmy with tomatoes and strawberries. He grew out of it. But that is the great reason to do one ata time. I might try a non- beta carotene veggie next. Beans? Peas? Poor guy. He is lucky that you are both there takign such good care of him!
Mel- I am excited to get the mail! I admit that I did not check out recording teh DVDs this weekend, but will next. That quiet time got in the way (wink wink). Sounds like you are getting in a great groove on teh runs. Yay! Let me know if you like the lap feature. I got DH to get up at 4am to go for a 6 miler in the rain. I told him i would leave him in the dust at at the race if he does not try to train well. If he trains, I said I would stick with him teh whole way no matter what my finish time is. This marathon is a runner's world challenge, and we are trying to upgrade our registration to be part of it. It is cool, they have private potties, which is sure nice. And much nicer amenities, but we all know I like a potty! Has DH been helping more while the ice melts? Have you begun Chalean? I really do think you coudl do it a few days a week if you want to before the race. I will continue doing dvds and core and weights, just take it down a notch, through the marathon. I think it helps prevent injury...
Allison- Have you figures out what you will do about the step daughter thing? How is Drew doign in the crib?
Priscilla- I hope that you have a great day and rememeber how hard you have worked to make a baby, keep a job, be a mom, be a wife, and take care of yourself. THe pants will fit. I know it. Mine took a while too. Keep up the hard work. A little insanity will do it!
So, who has tried it? I think that Max Interval Plyo is the hardest. It makes be want to barf, in a good sweaty way.
Cleanign people are comign soon, so I am going to go clean the house before they get here. Ha ha. Isnt taht weird?
