Bodybuilding/Sculpting check-in;-)

Haha! SarBear! Too funny! I am excited, too. I will have all the same new workouts--H&C, ICE and Weider Pink (hubby ordered it for me for Xmas!). Plus Cathe Live!

Nathalie--I ordered the base program plus the deluxe DVDs--but I didn't get the deluxe kit because I don't need all of that extra crap. I have been waiting for H&C since they announced it, so the moment I heard it was available I ordered. Plus--I only have the "On Demand" discount until Dec. 10--so I had to order before then anyway!

Today I did LB's Cardio Torch and 360 Core & Flexibility. My core is feeling it!

I'm holding off on Hammer & Chisel for now, as hard as that is, lol. I looked at the descriptions for the workouts and it seems most of them are either total body or cardio. I was hoping for some splits or single body parts. Like Nathalie, I'll be waiting for your review, Jen. :)

Hi Everyone,

ICE rotation map has just been posted and got me excited for upcoming rotation:

I am going to definitely do the highlighted one as part of my rotation at some point. Planning to do the other as "recovery"
I should wait and see the details. Not sure if I will be doing to the letter but will do the the main structure.

I decided to do two month of meso1 instead of starting meso 2. The next 4 weeks are going to be very busy. My plan is to workout at least 5 out of 7 days. Will still aim for 6 for some weeks.

Sunday: rest day
Monday: RwH Plyo Hiit 2+ STS#3 Leg + DIY Glutes w/0
Tuesday: STS #2 Back and Triceps, RwH Bonus core#1X2
Wednesday:STS#1 CSB

DIY Glutes from this week consisted of:
  • Goblet squat, full to the floor 10kg. 4x10
  • Reverse hyperextension 4x16.
  • outer leg thigh step out with Band 4x24 This cooked my hipflexor big time
  • Side lunge dropping and picking up a dumbbell 4x16 5kg
  • One leg hip thrust on 3 risers stepper 4x16
  • curtesy - squat combo 4x10 This is exhausting. At that point my muscles were fatigued:):)
I had 100 light traditional conventional deadlift planned but I will do it later this week, Was too cooked to hold a clean fluid ROM. Not sure about the stance. Still need to decide between sumo/plie stance and straight foot stance.

I am really seeing and feeling an improvements adding two adds on for Glutes and abs. I no longer feel a slight tightness in my hip girdle. Full goblet squat feels great:p:p:)

Hope you are all having a good week so far.

Warm Regards,

I really enjoy Cathe Live. I've been doing Cathe's 3 month transformation rotation which is a combination of STS/LIS. I've been subbing in Cathe Live workouts lately in place of the LIS workouts for some fun variety.

Glad to hear from you SarBear, Please share your review on PINK barbell with us here.:)

I am feeling so overwhelmed by Cathe Live choices! This is my last week of STS and since it doesn't appear ICE will be here before next week I am trying to plan my workouts for next week--but there is so much I want to do! I have more library barre check outs, I have Cathe Live, then workouts I own and love that have not gotten the attention they deserve. I don't know what to do! I did pick out the first few Cathe Lives I want to sample. I just need to figure out when. And of course ICE will be here soon--even if it isn't next week, it may be the week after. What to do!?!?!?

Jen, Hope you find your way in cathe's live library.... I am looking forward to reading more reviews on various barre workout and other more coming through your post mail. Any plan on discovering more TA workout?:DLOL

Hope everything is fine:)

Hi all! Just jumping in here because I found this thread scouring the web for reviews or info on the BB Hammer & Chisel program. I'm torn trying to decide if I want to buy it or not. Has anyone previewed or tried the workouts on BB On Demand? The test group results look amazing but I'm wondering if that is more diet than the workouts?

Oh- and I've never heard of PINK before but my credit card jumped out of my wallet and I have my set arriving via Groupou. The bar and 2.5 lb weights look like a joke but I can always sub out my bar and real weights if the workouts are decent! I've been very pleased with the last Weider DVD purchase (Ruthless) so these 20 minute workouts may be another great add-on or finisher option.

@dmerz

Hi Dmertz, thanks for popping in. Jen, one of our lady, my friend,
aka as the owner of http://2lazy4gym.com/ is also waiting for Hammer and chisel through her post.
Most of us here can not wait for her impartial and thorough review. I am personnally waiting for other
reviews TOO, from VF forum and Amazon before making a decision. The program looks good and different from BodyBeast1.
I am curious and Iam inclined to purchase cause it's a total weight system. There has been various split program
and this seem, so far, different to what is on the DVD market.

The main reason we, cathletes, gather around check-in is to keep each other accountable but mostly to motivate and encourage
each other. We also push each other in a good positive way:):) We also discuss new workout, form pointers, tips etc....
We mainly discuss compound moderate to heavy weight lifting. Well I am the one who usually come up with this genre of discussion.
That said, we do discuss everything fitness related, any type of workout. So feel free to post, jump in occasionnally or join us checking in on a
regular basis. Welcome dmertz;);)

Please find below a vid illustrating curtesy lunge - squat Combo. This is feeling really challenging with a 7kg barbell.
I am doing it at the end of my short program. May be that is the reason It is feeling very challenging--- Just assuming.
That said, compound combo have always felt really challenging for me. Why do I like this move? it is a way of having
more variety and fun working out compound. It is high time I incorporate more compound variation instead of repeating
traditional/conventional deadlift, squat and lunges:(:(--- To avoid boredom. I do not have
any muscularskeletal issue/condition plus my body seem to respond pretty promptly to changes so I should just make
the most of it while having fun!:):)

Sorry for being virtually bubbly Ladies;);)
Sorry for rambling

Good vid Nathalie!! Thanks. Today was shoulder day and I did 29 sets ( ready for the mental eval!!) I started with 15 set pyramid of military press followed by 6 sets of side laterals 3 sets dumbbell front raise, 3 sets rear delt flys and 2 long sets of barbell shrugs. I finished with ab roll outs 1x30. Really trying to crank up the intensity and I can tell my increased calories is really helping!! Hope everyone has a great one!!

dmerz--I subscribed to the free month of Beachbody on demand (and got 10% off my order of Hammer & Chisel) and previewed (but did not do) the two Hammer & Chisel workouts. They looked really good to me. I have never done Autumn's other workouts but I have done Body Beast. The two workouts I previewed were different from Body Beast but still looked effective and fun to me. They were both total body strength workouts that are less than 40 minutes. I like the longer workouts that Cathe and other trainers produce but I also like shorter ones. With the shorter ones I can do them as doubles workouts (after work) and get in a long cardio or yoga in the morning--or I can combine them with another workout: the strength followed by a cardio, either one of the less than 30 minute cardios in H&C or something like Weider Ruthless--or Weider Pink (which my husband ordered for me for Xmas).

These are my thoughts. I ordered H&C and I will eventually review it on my blog, but ICE comes first!

Good morning!
Yesterday I did STS #36 Shoulders, Biceps & Triceps; doubles: X10 Step
This morning was Great Glutes Extreme; planned doubles 5 Day Yoga/Energy & Flexibility

SarBear--do you know of an easy way to find information on Cathe Live workouts--particularly the older ones? The Live list shows the lengths and titles, but that's it. This morning I did discover a PDF with lots of information, but I was wondering if anywhere there is a link to clips and equipment needed for each workout. I had to scroll through the Live forum to find things and past a certain date (can't remember the date now but it is in 2015) when they post about the upcoming Live workout they don't even list the equipment needed! Very frustrating when trying to choose workouts and plan a rotation.

Nathalie--I saw the ICE rotation post. I will probably jump right into the third one (level 2) or just construct my own rotation that includes everything. I'm at work now, but I will have to check out the videos you posted when I get home from work. And as for TA--I did just do and review her Precision Toning, which I actually liked a lot but that is probably it for me with TA. She doesn't have anything else that interests me and her cardio sounds horrible. I do really like her lower body work. All of her lower body work in the workouts I've done has been challenging and I really feel it.

dmerz--when I answered earlier I was limited on time, so I didn't get to everything you mentioned but I believe that ALL fitness program before and after results rely heavily on diet. Every one can out-eat any workout EASILY. Unless you are already overweight and out of shape diet is critical to actually see results. If your overweight and out of shape, exercise will still only take you so far--diet still has to be a large part of it to look anything like most "after" pictures. If you check out the fitness programs I have done (and reviewed) on my blog I got very little visible results from any of them. That is because I have been working out almost daily for more than a decade and I don't do the work in the kitchen very often. The best results I have ever gotten are when I first started working out consistently with The Firm 15+ years ago and the different times in my life when I had a major jump in fitness level AND did the work in the kitchen--discovering Jari Love workouts, ChaLean Extreme and Insanity. Now, with that all said, I am talking about visible results. The internal results from doing ANY fitness program or just simply working out every day are innumerable and worth more than any before and after picture. This is why I workout every day even if I am not doing the work in the kitchen. It's why I do STS and Body Beast--to feel strong and powerful. It contributes to every aspect of my life. So I never pay attention to before and after pictures. They are nothing more than sales tools to sell a program. Google "faking before and after pictures" and you will see tons of amazing "transformations" that take place the same day. I'm not saying all before and afters are fake--but a great deal has to do with lighting, the way a person is standing, what they're wearing, being bloated, etc.

Jengollf- I would agree with you! I've never done the "kitchen" work and know that I am quite unwilling to do so (family, busy job, etc). So the biggest visual difference really came from when I started lifting initially after years of running. So I'm looking forward to your review before I commit to H&C. For me I think I keep looking for the best "minimum effective dose" both time and money and fun factor. STS was great but too long for me to do as a regular rotation (45- 50 min max workout time). I bought P90X and then sold it after a couple workouts. I bought Xtrain and then sold it after a couple rotations.

Nckfitheart2009 - I would be in good company with you on the total body compound weights! Seems like that has been a better "minimum effective dose" for me lately than splits! Keeps me more engaged than endless reps of triceps. I'm going to watch the videos after work since my most recent focus has been working on my squat form and depth!
