Are you not happy unless you're sore?

I just love the feeling I get from lifting as heavy as I can. I weight train 3X per week, plus circuit & core 1X per week. When I'm consistent I always feel a little stiff & sore, which is heavenly to me. :p

Does this make me a glutton for punishment? I bet it's not just me. Who else loves the pain? Or maybe a better question is: who just doesn't feel happy when you're NOT sore?

BTW, sometimes I wonder how yogis feel all the time. I'm guessing they don't grind their teeth the way I do. :D

I like being sore because to me, it is a sign that I gave the workout my all, and it was challenging and I accomplished something by finishing it. If I am not sore at the end, I feel like I need to do more.

Maybe we are gluttons for punishment, or maybe we believe in the mantra "no pain, no gain." :D

I have to agree with you on this one Laura. I love the feeling of being sore after a good weight workout...or even the leg soreness after a Press Play Saturday. I always feel like I really worked if I am sore. In fact, I have not done workouts from *other* instructors if I didn't feel that soreness (I usually don't like the workouts anyway).

i like to be sore!! cant walk or raise my arms to wash my hair sore!

but theres a line from a richard pryor oooooldy movie called moving.
hes lifting a heavy box and a lady says "no pain, no gain"
he says "i have a different motto.....no pain....sounds good to me!":D

I like to have some soreness too. Just this morning I touched my tricep and realized that they were sore - which gave me a big smile realizing that my first CLX Lean workout got my triceps sore.

Now I am not a huge fan of the I cant walk at all soreness - but I do like to feel something the day after weight work so I know I really did give my workout my all.

MEMEMEMEMEMEME!!!!!

*jumps up and down with her hands in the air*

I don't know why, but I am exactly this way!!! For some reason I don't feel like I have done anything worthwhile if I don't wake up sore. I wonder if they have a name for our "disorder". :p

Heh. When I practice yoga regularly, I kind of float through my days. It's nice. You can get plenty sore in the beginning, but it goes away.

That said, I've come to love weight training, and yeah...I enjoy a little bit of DOMS. I know it's my imagination, but I feel tighter.

I do notice though that I don't have nearly as much DOMS now compared to when I used to work out with The FIRM, yet I'm lifting way heavier. I think it's related to a much improved diet and sleep schedule. I used to abuse myself, whereas now I take recovery more seriously.

I also love to be sore. No pain, no gain. And I don't care what "they" say, this is a fact. I get real sick of hearing "You don't have to be sore to make gains." Bullcrap. You do. If you aren't, then you just aren't working out hard enough.

That's just my opinion, though. I'm sure some will argue with me. I can see not getting sore with each and every workout, but at least 85% of the time you should be sore somewhere. :)

Let's keep with the trend: yup, I love the soreness that you get from working out. That is good, healthy soreness as opposed to bad, achy, sick soreness. I'll take DOMs every day of the week.

Yes I like to be sore. It lets me know that I worked hard. However, last week my legs were so sore, someone asked me why i was walking like I was pregnant. That was just a little too much for me.

I love me a little DOMS, too. And I know I've worked really hard when I can start feeling it that night and it gets progressively worse after that:)

I find certain spots have more DOMS than others.

For example, my triceps are always sore the next day. My chest too.

My biceps, however, are almost never sore. I treat them like I do any other muscle group ~ I push the weights, and I'm super fatigued throughout the day (which I kinda enjoy like the DOMS). I've made great strength gains, so I know I'm accomplishing something, but very rarely do I experience bicep DOMS.

Go figure *shrug*

I love being sore. I know the whole hype about not having to be sore to get something out of the workout. However, I am usually sore somewhere in my body most days of the week and I love it! I get lots of feedback (mostly from men) about my definition and besides the benefit of what lifting does for my muscles and bones, my ego also gets a boost! ;)

I'm sorry. You'll have to forgive me. I'm pms'ing it right now. Didn't mean to go off like that.

No, you're absolutely right! Go hard or go home!

I'm PMS-y too... craving chocolate, sugar, fat, deep-fried fat, sugar-coated fat, fat-coated sugar -- whatever.

Normally I don't feel this way. And I'm not usually so crabby, either!

Wait, that only happens to you when you're PMSing? ;)

Debbie, you are so funny. I didn't take that as a rant at all!

Isn't it funny how our bodies are so different? I ALWAYS get sore when I do my chest routine, even if I don't lift heavy. I have a super tough time getting soreness in my triceps & shoulders, but my biceps are always screaming after a w/o. My legs are always sore, no matter what day fo the week. :p

Oh yes! I love having DOMS! Walking around mumbling to myself, "I have butt DOMS...cool."

I hardly get ever shoulder soreness though. And I WANT it!
