Anyone use chia?

I was reading about the benefits of chia seeds and everything seems good. The only problem is that you need to make sure that they are pesticide free. Apparently, the seeds raised for the chia pet are heavily pesticided. So, does anyone know of a reputable place to buy them?

I use them.
I put a tablespoon or so on my oatmeal and/or in my chocolate smoothies. I also buy Weil's ChiaRazz bars, and other foods that contain them. From what I've been reading, they have many of the benefits of flax, but are better nutritionally.

Buy organic ones or those labeled 'pesticide free" and you won't have problems.
You can get them from raw-food suppliers on the net, like www.sunfood.com , www.oneluckyduck.com , or from http://www.celticseasalt.com/Chia_Seeds_Chia_Products_C84.cfm or http://www.sunorganicfarm.com/ (lowest price per pound, but shipping may be higher. Pick up some of their dried blueberries while you're at it...they are LUSCIOUS!), from health-food stores (Anutra is one brand www.anutra.com . It is not labeled organic, but is pesticide free. It may be difficult to get organic certification for chia if it is wild grown). You can even buy some through www.amazon.com .

Re: chia pet chia seeds. Many seeds sold for planting rather than eating as-is are coated with chemicals in order to protect them from predation and mold.

I love chia seeds! Kathryn turned me on to them a couple of months ago, and they are fantastic!!! Love, love, love them in smoothies.
