Any Cathe beginners?

Hey guys, just checking in late at night before I go to bed. I was going through some earlier posts and several of you have talked about Jari Love workouts. I checked her out on the computer and was wonder what dvds you all have of hers that you do and how you like her workouts compared to Cathe?

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Sounds like everyone has been doing great with their workouts! I plan on starting strong tomorrow since I have slid through the holiday and probably eaten more than I should have.

I really do feel like Wonder Woman this morning- I finished Body Max earlier today!!! Of course, I modified though most of the power moves and kept the weights light- but it is a 90 minute kill you workout!! Wow, I can do anything now! Body Max is the type of workout that I tell myself that I am only going to do the step in the beginning, but after the step I still felt strong so I kept going through the circuits- then I still felt strong so I did the weighted upper body work, and HAD to do the abs afterward (cause I need to do them!) before I knew it I was stretching and soaking wet, and thought, wow, I just did all 90 minutes of that!

Nancy- great job with Muscle Endurance- the last time I did it it kicked my fanny, there are a lot of leg presses in that if I remember correctly.

Elle- I don't have Stretch Max, but I probably should incorporate more stretching in my routines- I am not that flexible.

Jen- don't be discouraged by the slowing down of wt loss with exercising-remember you are building muscle, which weighs something in itself. Try tracking your measurements- you may be pleasantly surprised to see your measurements decreasing without losing many pounds.

Have a Happy Memorial Day Everyone!

Checking in today with Kick Punch & Crunch and Stretch Max #3 (band) completed. KPC seemed harder than usual but I got through it.

Elle:
Great job with the weekend workouts! How did Low Max go today?

Jennifer:
How'd you do today?

Bridget:
Woohoo on completing Body Max! That is one tough workout and 90 minutes..wow!!! Isn't it a great feeling?

Muscle Endurance has way too many leg presses. LOL You do a few in the beginning, in the middle and near the end. I was cringing whenever she said leg press by the end of it. :)

Hi guys! I'm checking in late today. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I did High Step Challenge this morning, the timesaver #1 premix. It was a quick workout, but a good one. Yesterday was a complete and total rest day, and I loved it! Don't you love when you know you've earned the right to lay around?:p

Nancy-
There were 3 sets of leg presses in my work out this morning. Not my favorite thing to do! I love ME, but those leg presses get me growling every time. Nice job with KPC and the stretching!

Bridget! That is so great about Body Max. That is one tough workout and 90 minutes is a LONG time! You should be beaming and extremely happy with yourself!

Hi to Jennifer and Elle! Guess I will see you all tomorrow.

Hey gang, checking in late again, just got home a short while ago after being since early this am, so no workout completed. I suppose I do have one saving grace—I mowed an acre of land using a push mower so at least I did get a little bit of cardio in . . . Since everyone is coming up with rotations, I decided to sit down the other night and after looking at everyone’s rotation plus several from other blogs, I have come up with my June rotation:

Body Fusion
Low Impact Step
Total Body Sculpt
Stretch Max or Rest
Basic Step & #5 Ab Circuit
Total Body Sculpt
KPC

I will start out with this and then switch out with Pyramid Upper Lower Body for one of the Total Body Sculpt workouts when I get the DVD (hopefully within the next couple of days.) I also am waiting to receive Low Impact Circuit, Body Blast Timesavers & High Step Circuit. You all are the experts so any suggestions would be appreciated!

Bridget: Great job on finishing Body Max, even if you modified portions of it at least you finished it and at the full 90 minutes to boot!! Dear God, I’d be in the hospital if I tried to do a 90 minute workout—I nominate you to be Wonder Woman!!

Nancy: Good work on your KPC workout and stretch! I hate it when I feel like a workout is harder than normal—for me it always seems like the time is going even slower than normal . . .

Pam: Congratulations on High Step Challenge—I can’t wait to get that one in the mail. I’m glad you enjoyed your complete and total rest day yesterday! I feel like I have taken a short vacation from working out since I haven’t had time to do a “real” workout since Thursday and it is driving me crazy and I feel guilty as hell!

Elle & Kelly: Hope things are going well for you with your workouts!

Yesterday i did LoMax! I decided to just try and do the whole thing and see how far i could get. I took a few breaks during blasts 5,6, & 7 but i did it. I feel confident that i'll be able to do the whole thing without any breaks if i keep attempting it.
I'll be doing Muscle Endurance today so all this talk about the leg presses has me prepared since i forgot there were so many.

Bridget: Good job with BodyMax. It really does make you feel accomplished when you work out, especially with a tough workout like that! I don't have that one but i do have BodyMax 2. I'll have to fit that into a future rotation.

Phoenix: Good job getting through KPC. Some days are harder than others but it seems like we are all getting the hang of just getting it done somehow. This check-in and all of you have helped me get through the harder days.

Pam: Good job with High Step challenge. I'm glad you enjoyed a well deserved rest day. It's important to rest and prevent burnout.

Jennifer: Let us know how you like your new rotation. We are all here to help, motivate, and support one another. Don't feel so guilty if you have not been able to get in a workout. Just don't let it turn into an "extended vacation":p

Kelly: Haven't heard from you. Hope you are doing well.

Have a great day.

Just a quick fly-by posting to say that I completed Rhythmic Step this morning! Ugh...was I tired!!

Also, for those of you interested in Muscle Max, it's this weeks Featured DVD and there is 30% off now!! Yeah!!

Be back later for personals. :D

hi everyone! checking in after the long holiday weekend. we were at the lake and I don't have internet there yet, so couldn't check in. I was really bad - ate way too many processed foods, did not stay on track and hardly exercised at all. today is June 1st - time to kick my butt into gear - i am so tired of being 20 - 25 lbs overweight. gonna really try to eat clean, stay away from alcohol (wine mainly) on the weekends, and exercise 4 - 5 times per week. I CAN DO THIS.

Looks like everyone has been doing great! Congrats - you are an inspiration to me!

Kelly

I decided to take a rest day today - so tired and no energy for anything. I'm going to try following a 3 day workout schedule - so 3 days of workouts and then a rest day and see if that helps since I've been feeling a little worn out lately. I'll see how it goes this week.

Pam:
Great job with High Step Challenge! And yes...rest days are the best. :) I liked ME too but I'm the same...enough leg presses already. LOL

Jennifer:
Your rotation looks good.

Elle:
Great job with Low Max! I'm sure you'll find that you'll be doing the whole thing with no breaks in no time.

Kelly:
You are going to succeed. Forget about the weekend - it's in the past and it can't change. Focus on now and do the best you can each day.

Hey everyone, happy first day of June, we’re goin’ hang tough doing our new rotations and exceed our expectations this month! I just got Low Impact Circuit in the mail and decided to give it a whirl. I REALLY like this DVD with the music and routines. I only did the warm-up and circuit cycle #1, but I ended up doing the warm-up twice because I liked it so well and then watching the other two circuits. I figure since I walked 3 miles at lunch today, one circuit would be enough tonight.

Kelly: I am glad to see another one of us “fell off the wagon” over the holiday weekend. I indulged myself and then didn’t stay on track with my workouts either. It was really hard to drop in here and see that Bridget, Nancy and Pam went all out and surpassed themselves with their exercises—we even have a “wonder woman” among us! So, once I got over feeling guilty, I decided it was a new month and I would get back on track! And by the way, I wish I were only 20 – 25 pounds overweight! WE ALL CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!

Pam: Good job on Rhythmic Step!

Elle: Great job on doing the whole LoMax including the blasts! It’s great you feel confident you’ll be able to do the entire thing without breaks—I have confidence in you that you will succeed!

Nancy & Bridget: Hope your day went well!

I did Cardio & Weights today, though wimped out during the abs, but I did it!

Pam- I had been avoiding High Step Challenge, for fear of the word "challenge" in the title. I got it with my high step, is it doable?

Kelly- Welcome back, hope you had a restful weekend!

Jen- I am excited for you getting new DVD's, let us know how you like them!

Nancy- enjoy your rest

Elle- Low Max is quite an endurance workout- good for you!

Yesterday i did Muscle Endurance. I went with light weights and i used dumb bells instead of the barbell. For the leg presses i actually did not use any weight. Wimpy as that may sound :p it was still very challenging for me. I know i'm definitely not ready for the heavy pundage right now so i'll continue this way for the rest of June and focus on maintaining good form.

I'm thinking to maybe keep this rotation for the whole month of June which will give me a chance to really get comfortable with all the workouts and enough time to see improvement with each one. I was originally planning only two weeks and then moving on.

Kelly: Keep moving forward. There are going to be bumps along the way but just keep going.

Pam: I noticed MuscleMax as the featured workout right away. I'm still debating, but leaning towards getting it because of the 30% off.

Does anyone have MuscleMax? How do you like it?

Bridget: Good job with C&W. Keep up the good work!

Phoenix: Listening to your body and resting when needed is important to prevent burnout. You've been working really hard so i hope you enjoyed the rest and let your body recover a bit. I think as we all continue with our rotations we will need to make adjustments to what we originally planned. Let us know how the 3 day work/1day rest goes for you.

Jennifer: Your positive attitude will help you succeed. I'm glad you liked LIC. I have that one scheduled in for Saturday.

Have a great day.

Another rest day for me. I'm feeling much better than yesterday so I think one more rest day should do the trick. I realized after looking at my exercise calendar that I have been doing a bit too much too soon and not taking enough rest days (none for the first 2 weeks of May alone) so that's probably why I'm feeling it now. :)

Jennifer:
I love Low Impact Circuit - especially the cardio only premix. I love the choreography and the music is great.

Bridget:
Great job with Cardio & Weights! I sometimes skimp on the ab parts because it seems like every workout has an ab section and enough already. LOL

Elle:
Great job with Muscle Endurance! Those leg presses are killer even with no weight so it definitely is not wimpy! I used 5 lbs last time and it was hard! Good form is definitely more important than heavy weights. I like to have a set rotation for a month because I like getting used to the workouts and see improvement by the end. I'll let you know how the 3 day work/1 rest day part goes - starting tomorrow!

I have Muscle Max and really like it. I think it is a good total body weight workout and great for using moderate to heavy weights. It's a nice switch from high reps/low weight.

Morning all! I never got to check in yesterday, but I'm here today.

This mornign, I did the lower body only premix of Muscle Max. And yesterday was the upper body only premix on that one as well. The lower body premix is really quite short, but it gets the job done in a little bit of time.

Nancy-No rest days during the first two weeks of the month? Wow. I'm glad you're now getting the rest that you need.

Elle-At this point, I don't use any weight when doing the leg presses either. I'm working on my form and trying to get up there without throwing my body around. Also, I figure my body weight is giving me enough resistance on it's own right now. I do have Muscle Max and I like it.

Bridget-Great job with C & W!! I hate working abs, so I tend to skip pretty often. It's terrible, I know. I feel like I'm being smothered by my body when I'm down there. Still, I know I need to get 'em done, so I'm really going to work on them during the next rotation!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Yesterday i took a rest day because i had a brutal headache. I'm worried it may be dental related but i have an appointment with the dentist today so i will mention it. The appointment means i'll get home later than usual so i'm hoping i won't be so hungry or tired that i can't do something since i really don't want to miss two days.

Phoenix: It's sometimes easy to overdo in the beginning because we are enthusiastic about working out again. I'm sure you will find a nice balance.

Pam & Bridget: I'm thinking i may go back on weight watchers. It did work in the past. I just get tired of tracking and counting points but at this point i'm willing to do it to get the scale consistently moving in the right direction. I think i remember one of you (Bridget?) is doing it online. How do you like it online? I'm thinking that may be the way to go this time. What is the "momentum" plan all about? Last time i did WW, it was flex points and core. Let me know your thoughts.

Have a great day.

Checking in with another rest day. I was reminded that it is a good idea to schedule a recovery week every 4-6 weeks and I think that's why I'm feeling a little worm out. I used to do that before but when I started back, I didn't - too eager I guess. LOL

My energy level is back and am looking forward to trying the 3 day on and 1 day off schedule.

Pam:
Yeah I think that enthusiasm is why my body wants rest now. LOL I hear you on the ab part - there are some exercises she does that don't work well with a big stomach - being smothered definitely describes it well. I modify some of those and try to do more each time. Targeted ab work is definitely not my favourite. :)

Elle_p:
Sorry to hear about the headache - hope it is better now and not dental related. But it's good that you are seeing the dentist so you can mention it just in case.

Glad I'm not the only one taking the rest days. I had one already scheduled for Wednesday, but couldn't get myself motivated to get out of bed on Thursday- so I took another. Then this morning I did push pull- and slightly increased the weights, and was pleased that the 20lb barbell didn't feel too scary, and although I feel it, though I can still walk!

Nancy- I never heard about scheduling a recovery week before, is that a week where you do stretching and light walking?

Jen- have you done any of your new dvd's yet?

Pam-I wish I could say that I enjoy abs- some of the Cathe abs are pretty frightening- think pikes on the stability ball- I use lots of modification & lots of rest periods, whether I should or not!

Elle- I was doing WW online, but yesterday rejoined my WW @ work program. I like the group there, they are lively, and you get great tips from the leaders and the other members-like yesterday I learned to start counting points at night i.e. start your day at suppertime, so you don't have only 4 points when you get home from work and it is dinnertime...a few other members starting doing that with good results, I am trying that this week.

They still have flex points- 35 extra points a week to use as you need
Core is not counting points, and is less effective, but still available for those who just don't want to count. Momentum is tricks to help you get started to lose early so you can ride the "momentum" and continue weight loss.

If you join WW in our area, you get 8 weeks of free online membership. Check out the website, there is a wealth of information there!

Checking in with Cardio & Weights and Stretch Max #1 completed today. Taking the past three days off really helped as my energy is back to normal and it was no problem getting through the workout today. I think I can use heavier weights for quite a few exercises next time too.

Bridget:
This week really reminded me of the importance of those rest days so you are definitely not alone in taking them. Great job with Push Pull!

A recovery week is a week where you do easier and lighter workouts - so stretching, light walking, yoga or cardio a couple of times. The idea is to keep workouts but allow the body to recover from the more intense workouts. I was first introduced to the idea when I was doing BeachBody workouts as they usually recommend them every 4 weeks or so. I know for STS, it is recommended to take a recovery week every 4 weeks or after each mesocycle as well. Rest and recovery days are where the most changes happen...another good reason not to skip them!

Hi guys! I just got finished doing Pyramid Lower Body workout. I did the entire dvd without weights, with the exception of the dead lifts (had to use something, so I used my 10# dumbbells, but I don't know if the form was as good as it was suppose to be.) I didn't get to work out yesterday because I worked until 8:30 last night so I am glad I got my lunch walk in. : )

Bridget: I did the first part of Low Impact Circuit earlier this week and have decided I really like this dvd so I decided to buy Body Max 2 and I'm just waiting to receive it. Did the Pyramid Lower Body tonight, gonna have to figure out the best way to add weights to this workout without hurting myself. I haven’t had time to watch any of Timesaver or High Step Circuit yet. I’m glad your rest days are paying off and good job on push pull with increased weights!

Nancy: Good job with Cardio & Weights and Stretch Max. And thanks for the info on recovery week—never heard of it, but I think it may come in handy as I get more acclimated to doing the more intense Cathe dvds. Right now, I’m just trying to keep up with you all and I'm on the easy end of the spectrum!

I hope everyone has a great weekend—I’m tired so I’m going to bed!
