Any Cathe beginners?

Hi guys! How is your Friday going? This morning, I did Cardio & Weights. I was dragging this morning, so I did it on just the platform itself. I was a little disappointed in myself for not adding a set of risers to make it 6", but sometimes you just know it's not there. On the bright side, I did really well with the weight sections and challenged myself a bit there. Even with just the 4" platform...there was plenty of sweat!

Kelly-Athletic Step definitely has me curious. I love most of Cathe's cardio steps (what a surprise, right?) so I know it will probably tried soon enough. Glad you enjoyed it!

Nancy-
There's nothing like a day of recovery! Good for you...you probably needed it. I'm so sloppy with my sleep. I really should be more disciplined about it, but once my boys are in bed, that's when I get my second wind and want to do my own stuff or just relax. I've been getting better with my bed time, but it could still be improved. Hope you are feeling great!

Hope everyone else is having a wonderful day. BBL!

I'm so glad it is Friday!! I was working from home today and they decided to close the office a little early for the long weekend (Monday is Victoria Day here in Canada) so even better! I didn't have to drive home. :) I'm so looking forward to having the extra day off.

I'm checking in with Low Impact Circuit completed. Taking a rest day yesterday turned out to be the right decision. Note to self: take rest days and that means actually rest! :)

Kelly:
Great job with Athletic Step! I can't wait to try it. I don't know what I will do for my next rotation yet - I may try to work in one of the new ones.

Pam:
Great job with Cardio + Weights! Don't be so hard on yourself - like you said, some days you have tons of energy and some days they are harder. I think that is normal. You did great. I definitely needed the day yesterday - just felt so much better this morning overall. I still have to work on the sleep part...I have been doing too much at night and not getting to bed until late. I know from experience that it will catch up if I don't start working on it. :)

Hope everyone is going to have a great weekend! Just had to post that I reached my first weight loss milestone today! The milestone was to reach 200lbs and I dropped just below - 199.8!

NANCY!!! YAHOO! That is awesome! Don't have time for a long post right now, but I'll be back later. I just had to post when I saw your fabulous news! So happy for you!!

Kind of quiet here - hope that means everyone is having a great weekend and having too much fun!

Checking in with Pyramid Upper Body and segment #2 (stability ball) from Stretch Max. I increased my weights for the chest and back work and am thinking I might be a little sore tomorrow. I'm also liking doing a single segment of Stretch Max after the workouts - sometimes I find I can use a longer stretch than in the workouts.

Pam:
Thanks! I was pretty happy about it yesterday.

Hi Everyone!
Here's a recap of the last few days:

Thursday i was exhausted. I ended up going to bed really early and skipping my planned yoga workout.

Friday i took an extra day off to extend my long weekend. I treated myself to a spa day. I had a full body massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure. Lunch was also included. I also completed my scheduled workout which was 45 minutes on the treadmill.

Saturday i did Jari Love's slim & Lean and I'm feeling it today. I always feel like i had a good workout when i'm sore even though i know that's not a measure of a good workout.

Phoenix: WELL DONE!!!!!! You have been working very hard and i'm so glad your are reaching your goals! Keep up the great work!

I hope everyone else is haveing a great weekend.

Can you believe this weekend is already over?? Where did the time go. Well, I hope you all enjoyed the weekend, I know we did!

Yesterday was Cardio Kicks for me. It's an oldie, and I don't think I've done it since I first received the CTX series. I was feeling it this morning! And then, this morning was Maximum Intensity Strength! Ouch! Even with the fatigue I was feeling from yesterdays workout, I pushed through and got it done. So happy that tomorrow is a planned rest day, though! I think a really good stretch is in order!!

Elle-Sounds like a WONDERFUL day at the spa. So glad you enjoyed yourself. I know what you mean about feeling sore, too.;)

Nancy-
You are really doing phenomenal! Keep up the great work!

See you all tomorrow.

Nancy: FANTASTIC on reaching and surpassing your milestone! Your achievement keeps spurring me!

Elli_p: A day at the spa sounds wonderful and I am glad you were able to relax and enjoy yourself. Everyone needs to have a spa day once in a while.

Walkingchick: I agree about the weekend being over already. Seems like I blink and the weekend is gone. I was feeling kind of blue on Friday so I didn’t really stick with any set routine—watched a couple of Cathe’s videos and half-heartedly lifted some weights. On Saturday, my niece got married and I was a dancing fool—definitely got all of my cardio and then some. Danced so much I think I strained a muscle in the left hip area—spent Saturday night and Sunday morning completely crippled; :( however, I did manage to work through it and decided to mow the yard on Sunday afternoon. Went for my lunch walk today and still feeling it in the hip area, think I will do Pyramid Upper Body workout that I taped on Fit TV last week and give the lower body some rest.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and I don’t know about you all, but WOOHOO, we have a long weekend coming up with Memorial Day!!!

So tired today - the weather is really getting to me (I don't handle hot/humid weather that well). I did Low Max intervals 1-4 because I didn't have energy for the entire thing and the blasts were harder than usual.

Elle:
The spa day sounds fabulous!

Pam:
I have no idea where my weekend went and it was a long one too! It always seems like it just starts and then it is over.

Jennifer:
Hope the hip muscle is doing better!

Hi Everyone,
Today is a Holiday here and even though i extended the long weekend by taking Friday off i still feel like the weekend flew by!

The weather has been nice so yesterday i took a two hour walk and got some errands done along the way.

Today i actually got in two workouts: Yoga & Body Fusion. My energy level was a bit low but i managed to get through both workouts (I did them at different times during the day).

Pam: Maximum Intensity? sounds like an appropriate workout for all the effort you've been putting in. Good job!

Jennifer: sounds like you had a great time getting your groove on. Make sure you take care of the sore hip though.

Phoenix: The warm humid weather always zaps my energy. I found Body Fusion harder than usual but managed to get through it. LowMax 1-4 premix is better than doing nothing. That's a good workout so don't sell yourself short. Enjoy the fireworks tonight.

Have a great evening.

Back in town!

I returned from Chicago this weekend where I attended a conference. I went with a very fit colleague who likes getting up at 5am to hit the workout room. I was a good sport, I went along and did well the first day- 40min 5miles/hr on the treadmill and felt very strong, but I couldn't believe how much I hurt from the treadmill and the pounding the next day. "c'mon, it will loosen you up" my friend urges me the next morning and I returned, this time to get blisters on my feet besides!

The final day, we ran outside, and that felt better. I usually don't do treadmill workouts, maybe it is the pounding nature of them.

This morning, feeling strong and powerful, I did lower impact circuit and did my best during the abs at the end.

Chicago is a great city, we had an amazing pizza while we were there, would like to return someday!

Kelly- welcome! I may be joining WW next month to help lose my extra lbs as well.

Phoenix- do you live in Phoenix? I will be going there next month

Bridget

Hello everyone! I'm checking in this morning with Power Hour completed. I upped my weight for most of the workout and now, my arms feel like they just might fall off. Ugh!! Feels good, though. My 5 y/o son came in during the back section of the w/o and stayed with me through the end. He was enjoying the workout. It's tougher to concentrate, but he really had fun.:D

Bridget-Glad you had a good time in Chicago. I've never been, but I've heard such great things. Looks like a great place to visit. That's the home of deep dish pizza! Ouch...sorry about those blisters. Hope your feeling better by now. Feeling strong and powerful sounds great to me. Keep up the good work!

Elle-
Yoga and Body Fusion?? Good for you!! I'll bet you slept pretty darned good last night, huh? Don't you love walking out in the gorgeous weather?? Nothing beats it for me.

Nancy-
Great job on your w/o. I really like that 1-4 premix on LM. It's definitely challenging, to me any way. And we are starting to get some hot and humid weather, too. Not my favorite type of weather, that's for sure!

Hope everyone has a great day today! Be back later.

hi everyone! Well, I completed one of the Timesaver segments on Sunday; and then this morning I completed Kelly Coffey-Meyer's 30 min Cardio Blast/Athletic step - I always love that one.

Tomorrow will probably do a Timesaver one where I get both cardio and weights in.

Bridget - I totally understand what you mean about being sore from the treadmill - I have experienced that too - yuck! good for you getting up so early though.

have a great day!

Kelly

It's very humid here today (looks like it is going to be for the next few days...ugh). So my energy is a little low and I'm staying inside with air conditioning. :) I hate humidity and really hot weather...

I decided to switch up my workouts a bit so I changed my rotation around and try some new workouts:
Day 1 - Cardio & Weights
Day 2 - Low Impact Circuit (cardio only)
Day 3 - Muscle Max
Day 4 - rest
Day 5 - Low Max
Day 6 - Muscle Endurance
Day 7 - Kick Punch & Crunch

I'll also be doing a segment from Stretch Max after each workout (time permitting). That will let me get the extra stretching and keep the rest day for rest. So on schedule for tonight is Cardio and Weights.

Elle:
Great job with Yoga & Body Fusion even with low energy!

Bridget:
Glad you had a great time in Chicago. Sorry to hear about the soreness and blisters - it is probably because you don't use the treadmill that often so it is something new. Hope everything has healed up now.

I don't live in Phoenix - I'm actually in Canada. I use phoenix in my user name as a reference to the mythical bird rising from the ashes. Kind of how I feel I am doing. :)

Pam:
Woohoo on completing Power Hour and increasing your weights!

Kelly:
Sounds like you are doing great with the workouts! I've never tried Kelly Coffey-Meyer's workouts but have heard great things about them.

Bridgit: Glad you had a good time in Chicago. That is where my niece and her husband were going for a short honeymoon. Good for you for getting up at 5 am to workout—every weekend I think about getting up early and doing my workout, then I snuggle up to my puppies and think to hell with it, I’ll do it later today . . . perhaps one of these weekends I will give it a whirl. Good for you for sticking through the abs on lower impact circuit. I am hoping one of these days I will be able to get up and feel powerful and strong!

Walkingchick: I bet your son had a great time watching you! I have to block off my door or I end up getting one of the dogs in the room when I am trying to do my work out on the floor and they either try to stand over me, stand in front of me or end up licking my face—definitely distracting. I wanted to do Pyramid Upper Body last night after work and I had such a BAD day that by the time I got home I was so exhausted from being so hacked off that I fell asleep on the couch—goodbye workout. SO, tonight I am going to do the workout from last night and I am truly hoping that tomorrow my arms feel like they will fall off. What size weights did you use—I’m just going to start out with 3, 5, 8# and if that goes well, then I will up it next time around.

Elle_p: I love walking outdoors. It has been so hot and humid here in Ohio that it makes it miserable to walk. I am still doing my 2-3 miles during lunch, but by the time I come in I am soaking wet and end up spending the rest of the day at work in my shorts.

Kjlose20: How do you like Kelly Coffey-Meyers compared to Cathe? I have looked at several of Kelly’s videos, but can’t decide if I want to stick with just Cathe or branch out to others—what do you think?

Nancy: Where do you live? It has been really hot and humid in Ohio and as the week progresses, it is suppose to get even worse. Hope the holiday weekend turns out to be nice because I would really like to get outside and do some work in my flower beds and get some sun.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Checking in with Cardio and Weights completed for the first time. It seemed easier - maybe that's because it is new or just different from the previous workouts (especially after the Pyramids). :) I did go lighter on the weights the first time through and I can definitely go much heavier next time. The choreography wasn't too bad to follow - a few spots where I end up on the wrong foot but I pretty much got it the first time. I was even surprised that the few higher impact moves I could do and it wasn't a problem. I also added the first segment from Stretch Max afterwards and it felt really good.

Jennifer:
I'm in Ontario, Canada. I think we have similar weather here - it's supposed to be even worse tomorrow...ugh.

Let us know how Pyramid Upper Body goes - all those reps are definitely a killer! I used different weights depending on the body part. For shoulders, I was using 3/5/8 because I just couldn't do anything higher with those exercises and all the reps. For chest and back, I was using 8/10/11 and biceps and triceps would be 5/8/10.

Although I was cursing my friend in Chicago for getting my up early every morning to exercise, now I am thanking her- I have worked out the last 2 days and am less "dom-sie" than I would have been had I let myself go. The beginner hump is a tough hill to climb. I started Cathe's Intermittent rotation this week, lets see how it goes:
Monday- Low Impact Circuit
Tuesday- Kick Punch Crunch
Wednesday- Pyramid Lower Body
Thursday- Low Impact Step
Friday-Pyramid Upper Body
Saturday- 35minute run/walk
Sunday-rest

Nancy- I grew up in Buffalo on the Canadian border and I know Ontario pretty well- my younger brothers played hockey and we crossed the border frequently for games & tournaments.
Pam- I love Power Hour- it's one of those workouts that I am surprised I like, I never thought I would enjoy a 90 minute workout, but time flies doing that one. Maybe I will do that instead on Saturday morning- haven't done it in a year.
Kelly- Timesaver is a great DVD, I tend to like shorter workouts, I am a clockwatcher when I exercise.

It's great to hear from everyone!

Bridget

Yesterday I completed Lower Body from the BS/BF DVD and StretchMax Routine # 2. Body Fusion is on the agenda for today.

Bridget: I think it's great that you managed to get in your workouts while travelling. When you are out of your normal routine it is so easy to skip your workouts so i think your are doing really well. Enjoy your new rotation.

Phoenix: Hi Neighbour! I'm also in Ontario, just outside of Toronto and it's going to be a scorcher today. There is a heat warning for today so i'm glad i'm in the office with the A/C on.;)

Hi Pam, Jannifer, and Kelly. I hope you all have a great day.

Morning all! I am writing you all as I am drenched in sweat!! Don't you love that?? I dunno...I feel so empowered! :D

Anyway...I just finished Imax 2, intervals 1-5. I got it all done on a 6 inch step, except for blast #5. I dropped to 4" so my heart wouldn't explode. Then, just for good measure, I did interval 6, including the blast, on the 4" step as well. Not bad. I know I'm improving, and it feels so good!

Bridget-Your new rotation looks like a good one. And I agree, it's tough climbing this hill. But as I get a little higher on it, I just feel so accomplished. I loved PH, too. I used to do it at least once a week, and I hope to get back to that point eventually.

Nancy-I think C&W is so much fun! I might do it again on Friday, just because it's my circuit day and I like doing step SO MUCH MORE than I like doing Hi/Lo on the floor. Try to stay cool! It's going to be 94 here today!! I'm glad we opened the pool early!

Jennifer-With Power Hour, I used 5, 8 db's and a 12 for 1 arm rows. I use a 15lb barbell. It's a step up for me, but I know I can push harder soon enough. Hope things are going okay for you at work and you are feeling better!

Hello to anyone else I missed! I hope you all have a great day.
